  • Friday in Westhoe that’s not Currahee

As YHC writes this backblast he ponders on the fact that we now have a Trifecta of AO’s in WestHoe that were founded by men that no longer attend these AO’s. Two of which happened almost immediately and one that did attend for years.

Anyways, back to the Backblast. A “merry” bunch of men for the Members Only Tunnel Vision. YHC has always been once and did a poor job using Google Earth to scout the AO. YHC tried something new that immediately got grumbles for the “respect” Pax, to be fair, even if they liked it they would have grumbled.

We did stuff, it lasted 45 minutes, and then there was Coffee at Starbucks afterwards and YHC learned all about there Software world.

Announcements – Pigskin is leading the Bridge Jan 24th. 2nd F at Joeys Hot Dogs next Wednesday at noon. Frozen Triangle Feb 7th starting at Dogpile at 0600.

    Prayer Requests – None

NMS – thanks for letting me Q.

  • Tunnel Vision Inaugural Post

While there have been plenty of soft launches at Tunnel Vision, this is the first post. Three of us were there for:

Warm up, followed by a mosey through the Tunnel. Couldn’t walk it, so we Bear Crawled. Made our way to tennis courts for 25 count of Dips, Carolina Dry Docks, WW IIs, and Squats in each corner, with 5 Burpees in the center after each exercise.

Slow mosey back toward Tunnel and did 7’s on the hill with Mike Tyson’s and WWIs. Took a break with 100 Abs (25 Heals to Heaven, 25 Crunch Frogs, 25 Side Crunches each side). Then Bear Crawled back through Tunnel for another set of 100 Abs (Irish Hammers, American Hammers, Crunches).

Went to playground for Lindsey of Dips and Step-ups, then a triple check of Dirkins, Decline Merkins, and Pull-ups/Jerkins.

Stretch, Announcements, Prayer…was a good morning.

  • Hawt Patater with Tater

According to the compact convertible that saw Taters orange vest before running us over, three guests of neighborhood residents did a hot potato. Gomer started off with a COP. Tater did a few triple checks. Atilla did a series of pull ups, dips, and squats. Atilla took us out.

NMS – By official decree we resolved that if Roger Roger doesnt email Splinter we are staging a coup. The committee is happy to report that Roger Roger did the deed.

  • Hot Potato AO

The Tunnel, Tunnel Vision or just the permanent Hot Potato.  Take your pick.  A respected and hobbled PAX converged upon Wellsley in the Friday gloom.  Here is how it went down:

    • Gomer – stretching and COT

Great work from the PAX today, a respected but hobbled crew.  Eventually this AO will get on the Q sheet and the reign of potato will end.  Out of principle, Gomer insists Roger Roger follow through.

The Bridge with Kubota on 12/27.  Breaking Bread is 12/27 and 12/28.  Holiday parties are all around.  Gomer is meeting folks tomorrow for Army-Navy.  Text him if interested.

God is good all of the time!

  • Army of One

Yes it was snowing – yes it was slippy – that does not stop folks from heading out though. The Q gave a few more minutes grace for the unexpected car clean up and then got to it. According to the geese a laying and the swans a swimming on the lake this is what went down, more or less.

Burpee warmup. Recon the trails around Wellesley past the tennis courts, down by the basketball courts and around the lake. The decking at the clubhouse is still under construction so was not able to complete the trek around the lake and hit time when headed BTTVSF. Only one other set of footprints out there from part of the way. Quiet.

YHC prayed for the PAX and their families in the holiday season. 2F at Einsteins with Hutton and Handshake.

NMS – Solo posting is tough – but since no one else was out on foot – and just a few cars made for plenty of winter wonderland. It really was coming down at one point and was strange seeing ducks / geese with their backs covered in snow paddling round the lake.

PSA – Please clean up your cars completely for visibility and safety – you are not qualified to drive a tank through a minimal periscope view and we are not in combat zone where we dont have to worry about what we run over. Further, frozen sheets flying off of VAN and SUV roofs can create driving hazards and injuries. Safety is worth the extra 15 seconds to do it right.

  • The Fire Marshall has Tunnel Vision

6 Swole Studs gathered on a warm morning to see what WestHoes newest AO had to offer. According to the Rabbits that ran by this is what went down more or less.

Gomer Q. Welcome. Gitty up start: 8 Burpees. Mosey to the Tunnel. 10 Merkins at each overhead bulb. Roger Roger Q. Mosey to the big parking lot. Triple check. Jump Squats + Box cutters. Merkins + Flutter Kicks. Mosey to the basketball courts.

Atilla Q. Ark Loader: Bear Crawl, crab walk, Lunge walk, sprint. 4 corners: Burpees, HTH, WW2, Merkins and reverso. Mosey BTTF 10 Burpees. Flutter Kicks, Freddie Mercuries, Stretching.

Blue Moon took us out. Prayers for those seeking jobs. Healthy pax and families

NMS – Eschewing Members Only as it sounds too exclusive and various offered aviation terms or other euphemisms Roger Roger settled on Tunnel Vision – because you know, we are so focused on our goals.

TIL that there are 400 LI batteries in the cabin on each flight. For years YHC and other road warriors are responsible for at least 5-6 (laptop, tablet, phone, small battery backup, large battery backup, headphones, etc) so its easy to do the math. The issue is that many are very cheaply made with minimum standards and more importantly if they catch fire (daily – at least one) they are difficult to extinguish while in flight as the airlines in their infinite wisdom wont let us crack the windows to vent to atmosphere like you can on a spacecraft. And it turns out there is only so much baking power carried on each flight. So silly.

Also we found the nearest AED at the pool safely behind a fence that we need something bigger than a pickup to knock down. Luckily YHC has a lot of experience with heavy equipment – if you know what I mean – and there is a Bobcat supporting the construction work.
