Pocahontas Middle School

  • Back to basics

Six showed up today early morning. A day before, YHC asked if anyone wanted to Q, no one replied, so by default had to do it himself. We did our usual culdesac run with 10 Burpees and 20 Heels to Heavens on one side (six culdesacs) and 15 Hand-Release Merkins and 60 LBCs on the way back (four more). Overall distance is 3.5 miles. Finished almost on time. Pigskin did his usual walk around the School with 200 Merkings and 200 Dips. Great morning!

  • She’ll like it too!

Five warriors, either 50+ or feeling 50+ felt reborn this morning. Did they hit GNC for some Nugenix? Was it a post Valentine’s day buzz? Or was it running 3.3 miles, stopping every ~.5 miles to do 20 of an ab exercise and 10 burpees? You have to show up to know.

But as a special Slack offer, WaThohuk is offering a complimentary two-week sample of its AO to viewers who text in the special promo code “DoyourwriteupsRogerRoger” to his cell. Plus, as an added bonus, customers can also receive a free sample bottle of Currahee weight loss supplement with their order.

    Act now!

  • Its February! Who would even show up???

6 faithful entered the cold rainy gloom to push each other once again. As we gathered in the rain the mumble chatter was I wasn’t sure anyone would be here but yet we had strong numbers for our WTH band of brothers. 1 week to my respect day and I led the charge through the cold.

The Thang: Head out towards west broad village stop at a familiar spot to do some warms ups 3/4 mile into the run. 10 Imperial walkers, 11 Ukrainian solders…its raining lets go. Mosey to parking decks for the work: Start for climb stop at each level Merkins: 10, run to next 15, run to next 20, run to next 25, finish the final open climb to top 10 Burpees. Head back down to base stop at the levels and in reverse 25, 20, 15, 10 American hammers back to start. 2nd climb to top was squats on way up at each level 10, 15, 20, 25 and 10 burpee chaser at top. Back down with American hammers again descending 25 to 10. Mosey out of parking deck to head to gazebo, all are please to see rain dying off. At gazebo 3 sets of 15 dips and 15 merkins, once done 25 american hammers and 25 LBCs. Head out to flag long way around lake. Finish up just in time. 3.57 miles covered in total for run. Good workout 36 degrees wasnt so cold after all. Closed in prayer and thanks given to Tator for pulling me into F3 nation 3 years ago this week. I used to tease him I wasnt going to go to Zumba to workout, id stick with running. First time at GridIron i quickly learned this was not Zumba and have been hooked every since! Love the brotherhood and friendships formed.

  • Back in the Saddle

For a litany of reasons, had been a while since YHC had 1) posted 2) Q’d. A late night group text from Lighthouse asking for a Q and I decided to take the reigns. Having given no thought to a gameplan, I decided to reheat a workout I Q’d at WTH back in July. Here’s what we did:

    • Head out from the AO and run to Windsor Place/Thamesford Way neighborhood
    • Halt at the small cul-de-sac right off Thamesford for the disclaimer and a brief warm up
    • We then headed to the parking lot at Church Run Community Pool for Elevens, consisting of squat jumps and merkins
    • After Elevens, caught our breath with a smattering of Mary exercises
    • Departed the parking lot, back to the cul-de-sac for 6-count burpees
    • Continued the run, back across Three Chopt, around the lake to the gazebo for dips/derkins
    • Run back to the shovel flag for CoT
    • 3.5 to 3.6 miles depending on who’s watch you looked at

No announcements or prayer requests. Appreciate the opportunity to lead!

  • This is how you do a write-up

This is how you do it
It’s after Tuesday night, and I feel alright
The party is here on the West Side
So I reach for my 40 yr old friends and we run it up
Designated runner, hide the keys to my truck
Go back to the Poca’ cause I’m faded
Honies in the street say, “Whitesnake, yo, we made it!”
It feels so good in my hood tonight
Run a double quarter pounder with the guys in Kani
All the other gangbangers forgot about the AO drive-by
You gotta get your shuttle runs in, before you go get paid
So tip up your cup, do an indian run
And let me hear the Pax say

I’m kinda tired after 3.1 miles (This is how you do it)
Three Chopt does it like nobody does (This is how you do it)
To all my neighbors, you got much flavor (This is how you do it)
Brick and Roger Roger, bring the old school writeup back (this is how we do it)

  • Sold out!

Eight great men came to the big sale and the free 20 minutes of bootcamp was the clear promotion winner. 7 ran off to short pump park while Pigskin did his Pocahontas workout solo. The lucky seven did some warmups of DQ, Helicopters, Moroccans & Ukranian Soldiers and then did elevens of dips and merkins and ran the park circle for about a mile total.

The lucky seven eventually found a street in the Village and did some Bear Crawls one way and WWIIs the other and ran back to find Pigskin. Total mileage of 3.4.

Pigskin was feeling better today and ran around Pocahontas for 45 minutes and stopped for merkins and dips. Basically, we all ran in circles and did merkins and dips.

We all joined together for a minute of Freddie Mercuries.

    Announcements:

Brunch Club run this Sat at 6:30 before Gridiron at the Starbucks across from the mall. Frozen Triangle 1/21. Amazon merchandise sorting and loading/unloading MLK day. Happy Hour tonight with the Daville crew. See Slack for all the details of these and more.

Great turnout today and thankful I got to lead a little.

  • Last WTH of the year

With people out of town, others on the sick list and Roger Roger flying, it was just Lighthouse and me today. 6 trips at a fast walk around the school, 200 merkins and 200 dips. Discussion of coal in Ukraine and what happened when Nixon froze prices (again) in 1973.

  • You’ll have to take my word for it

I just remembered I never wrote up the WaThoHuk from last Wednesday. It’s because I was the only one. I know illness claimed two of the regulars. And none of the semi-regulars were there. And no one from out of town. So I did my (these days) usual. 5 times around the school, 20 merkins, 20 dips, twice each time around the school for a total of 200 merkins and 200 dips. That left me with enough time to walk around the school one more time. Merry Christmas! Frohe Weihnachten! Feliz Navidad!

  • El Chapo

A visitor from Raleigh, El Chapo, plus two local F3ers met at Pocahontas Middle School. While El Chapo and Lighthouse went running to places unknown and doing the usual WaThoHuk workout, YHC walked around the school 6 times (1 more time and the school would have fallen down) and did 200 merkins and 200 dips.

Questions were asked about how El Chapo was able to escape from confinement. That information is classified, but if you show up at WaThoHuk, we will provide some useful suggestions in case you end up confined. In the meantime, he plans to return before anyone figures out he was missing. El Chapo hates to miss his F3 workouts.

Like El Chapo, you should be equally dedicated to your F3 workouts. And unlike El Chapo, it’s easier for you to make it to a workout.

  • Two runners and a Pigskin

Two runners got in 4.2 miles, 55 hand release merkins, 55 squats, 30 dips, 30 step ups and some thorns while Pigskin did 200 merkins and 200 dips with some walking. Where were you?
