NMS:  Lovely band of gloom warriors this morning at TT for a warm WELCOME BACK to my buddy Pat Moore AKA Marky Mark from my church (WEAG) who recently moved into the neighborhood across the street from BWE. He had the painful experience of being partnered up with YHC this morning, which meant he didn’t have the same selective hearing as the rest of the pax. There’s a BIG difference in single count versus two-count when you’re doing DBC’s! There is very little that gets past Last Call and he was quick to speculate on the possibility of Christmas presents awaiting the PAX when he saw the Taco-mobile returning from behind the school before we got started. Well buddy, you may have groaned initially, but the way you took to that 50# KB I’ll be you’ve already put one on your Amazon wish list. Appreciate all you guys coming out to make it perfect numbers! Yours AYE! ~DTH

  • HOPE in the ATL

YHC had a research conference in Atlanta for a few days and found the “Hope” AO within a few blocks of the hotel. YHC did a little recon Thursday during a break in the conference and ended up having a great conversation sharing a frozen curb alongside a homeless man named “Rich.” As I have found all over the world where I’ve invested time with humanity in the gutter, there’s a story there worth listening to and a soul worth loving.

Hope AO is self-described as “A partnership between F3 Atlanta and The Atlanta Mission/Shepherd’s Inn. The Shepherd’s Inn is a homeless shelter for men. Hope PAX are a combination of men from inside and outside the shelter. Our “hope” is to make new connections and accelerate!”

THE THANG: Standard F3 warm-up. 23 degrees & not quite warm at the jump so we started COP #1 with Sweet 16’s (mercans + LBCs). Lap around TSI still hoping some Hope men would join us in the frozen gloom, then for COP #2 we rotated 1 PAX TSI lap while the other PAX warrior lunged through the lot. COP #3 was 3 laps of 4 corners: NW corner burpees, NE corner mercans, SE corner monkey humpers, SW corner Abs. Concluded with some Mary.

COT:  Good discussion around  joy vs happiness + 2.0’s and the challenges of parenting adults.  Not surprisingly (when 2 or more are gathered), my morning devotional was related to our COT discussion.  I’ll paraphrase and send the link.  Fruit is not developed by striving. Trees don’t strive to produce fruit. It’s intimacy with the Holy Spirit that brings fruit. Therefore, we don’t work on our fruit; we work on our relationship with Him, and fruit comes as a result.  I just finished day 4 of the @YouVersion plan ‘Walk in the Holy Spirit’. NMS:  After heart-warming bro time with House Party rucking a log around Morning Wood, it was awesome to see a solid PAX gather for whatever YHC was gonna make up on the fly – the only plan, do 42 of everything. When YHC doesn’t plan the workout ahead of time two things happen: 1) it turns out to be brutal, and 2) YHC forgets all the stuff we did. Great to have ChaChi with us DR from Concord NC, and it was fun to get creative incorporating the Implements of Woe into a COP. Not quite cold/precipitous enough to freeze the beard, but still damn chilly. Really appreciate all these guys coming out. Also enjoyed a brief Coffeerama with Mudslide at Starbucks after. Yours AYE! ~DTH

  • still got it!

After 42 trips around the sun, YHC still has it (IYKYK), but the outstanding morning wood wasn’t solo after all. Having planted the flag and hung the truck banner, House Party arrived as YHC’s first Birthday present, a welcome sight indeed! At 25 degrees, YHC was thinking he could do with another layer as we rucked to the pit, but then within just a few minutes of carrying one of the 8-foot logs, we were well warmed up. We made it most of the way around the loop before taking a break for x42 ruck squats, then re-shouldered the log to deliver it to the truck. With 25 minutes to go, we speed-rucked a woods path loop and came out at the nature center to discover Mudslide and Big Rig (cutely matching gray and black outfits) getting in a couple miles. Got back in time for a few minutes of stretching as PAX showed up for the Bootcamp. Yours AYE! ~DTH

  • Black Listed

Four lords of the gloom rucked a few miles through neighborhood discussing a variety of topics, one of which being the blatant corruption of our legal system. A resultant revelation may be that YHC’s obstinate participation in hanging a jury on a murder trial some years back may have resulted in YHC being black listed from ever again being drafted for jury duty – we’ll call that a win. Coffeerama after was awesome. Please join us in prayer for brother Doublemint who found out this morning of his Uncle Jim’s passing. And Happy Thanksgiving to all! Yours, DTH

  • Deep Thoughts on the Grog

Six ruck-humpin gloom lovers launched into Laurus following the Q who used the North Star (AKA, Sable) to navigate the pathless venture through mountains of leaves, eventually finding the tunnel and mountain bike trial up and around to Stony Point. En route Little John challenged all bridge passers and the bottle of murky grog was offered to inspire the spirit of deep thoughts. It was awesome having Brickhouse join us, and excellent Einsteinorama followed with discussion wrapping up Live Right via Correction & Targeting. Sable especially enjoyed this immersive experience. Until next time, Yours AYE! ~DTH

  • Centennial Warmup in the Wood

Four ruckers and three runners secured the AO early with discussion revolving around the return to meeting up at the front parking lot now that the latina market has closed up – maybe next week! Really enjoyed getting to know Broadway’s relative Dangerous Minds (DM) as we speed rucked the outside loop of Rockwoods trails. Sunrise at the lake was gorgeous, and the PAX stopped at five different intervals to complete x20 Copperhead Squats IC, adding up to the celebratory number of the day, YHC’s 100th Q for the year. Needless to say, all were feeling perfectly warmed up to tackle the R&R bootcamp after. Yours AYE! ~DTH

NMS:  What a pleasure it was to have my dear missionary friend Dr Mark Crouch join us this morning. On our last missions trip to Papua New Guinea, Mark and a number of other missionaries and kids joined in, and his son Levi gave him the nickname “NoGrass” which means no hair in the native language (he’s bald). Mark is an extremely skilled physician who I have been deeply grateful to count as a brother and mentor when serving in the field. His wife and four kids have been serving there for 11 years, and we have really enjoyed our time serving in PNG alongside them. Our next trip back is coming up in Mar-May 2025 so your prayers and support are welcome! Check out our Blog link below for more info and to follow along with all the picture and stories.
