  • The HIM’s have Crossed.

Seven swarthy travelers crossed paths in the last light of day, banded together to conquer hard stuff, then each left their way, all the better for it. Here’s what happens when the Good Doctor doesn’t plan anything but the creative juices are flowing…

    The THANG:

    WARMERAMA:

    • Mosey lap around the Annex lot, with variable movements and then complete x10 Broad Jump Burpees
    • Earn a merit badge carrying pine logs from one area to another to help the church out
    • Circle the lot again and then circle up for the Welcome & Disclaimer, and a very brief set of warmup reps IC …like NoCheat Merkins

    COP #1:

    • Mosey over to the sloped lot and circle up for some more warmerama…with sprints
    • IC stretch reps called at the top, followed by a run to the bottom and back up
    • Probably ran about 4-5x, plenty warm

    COP #2:

    • Mosey over the the DTH Taco and collect three ruck bags – weight varying 30-45 pounds
    • School circle and pass the rucks left in a slow, core-crunching style mirroring an American Hammer …rucks pass a few times around the circle, then reverso on direction to pass Right for a while
    • Return the rucks

    COP #3:

    • Mosey down to the Wailing Wall for a Triple Check
    • P1 – Donkey Kicks
    • P2 – Dirty Hookups
    • P3 – Run to spank the container and back

    COP #4:

    • Mosey backside of the church to a soft pitch for a Core Beatdown
    • x50 Oblique LBC’s (x25 ea side)
    • x50 Flutters – x15 Low IC, x15 High IC, and x20 low rapid IC
    • Partner up for PLT’s – x25 each

    COP #5:

    • Mosey to the church portico for a leg beatdown
    • x15 Monkey Humpers IC
    • x15 Forward Lunges IC
    • x20 Speed Humpers IC
    • x100 Alt Curb Toe Taps OYO (2-ct)

    COP #6:

    • Mosey to find another soft spot of turf
    • x50 WWII’s – all stop when Q completes

    Mosey BTTF:

    • Elbow Plank it up to review the F3 Mission, 5CP’s, and Credo

    Prayer Requests:

    • Prayers for WEAG leadership and transitional season
    • Praise for Snap earning a college scholarship to VMI

NMS:  What a beautiful balmy evening to sweat it out with the finest brothers a man could ask for. The COP’s were truly spontaneous and random but produced a fantastic beatdown all the same. Deeply appreciative for the powerful prayer warriors around our COT sending YHC into the Mission Field. Yours AYE! ~DTH

  • Stones for Scooter

Seven gloom studs packed out some rucks and rocks at Ruckhenge in the latest edition of the DTH Farewell Tour. RC’s long EH finally paid off with bringing out FNG Antonio, a colleague from the DMV world, who’s got a passion for motorcycles – welcome SCOOTER! We also strong-armed out brother SCOBY to swing down from his SCCC stomping grounds and join the ruck fun. PAX speed-rucked through some Bon Air neighborhoods sharing around the added burden of the two 40-pound rock bags that served as Team Weights for the Growruck. Variable reps were also achieved at a few stopping points, some called IC for Scooter’s benefit, and the PAX also enjoyed a nice long elbow plank under weight to review the F3 Mission, 5CP’s, and Credo. Proud of these men pushing through it this morning – never seen a group of brothers so eager for their turn to carry a bag of rocks. Haha. Cofeerama was a joy, and can’t WAIT to get back to Ruckhenge after YHC’s return from the mission field (soooo, June 4th). Probably gonna Q it, you know, cause that’s the MO. Yours AYE! ~DTH

  • Team Work Makes the Boaty Dream Work

A solid 14-PAX showed up to see what nonsense their departing Doctor had in store, and of course novel oddity awaited them:

    The THANG:

    WARMERAMA

    • Mosey onto the BBall court and circle up
    • Welcome & Disclaimer
    • The usual DTH top to bottom IC Reps

    PAY THE TOLL

    • En route to the fields, stop at the bridge for x10 Derkins and x20 Dips

    THE AO FERRY

    • PAX happily discover YHC’s Old Town Canoe awaiting them at the parking lot
    • Two PAX get into canoe, everyone else lifts canoe to waste level and shuffles about 50 yards. Felt very much like a one-arm Farmers Carry with about 30-50 pounds.
    • Circumnavigate the fields, stopping every 50 yards or so for a COP – Squat Jumps, NoCheat Merkins, DR.W’s, Lunges, Dancing Bears + Crab Cakes, etc

    OVERHEAD TRIAL #1

    • YHC directs PAX to lift canoe with just YHC inside up to shoulder level and carry about 30 yards – worked out just fine, very smooth ride, nobody died.

    THE IDITAROD

    • Line up canoe on the path adjacent to Field #1
    • Three PAX in the canoe, about 6 PAX on the tow ropes, the rest pushing the canoe sides
    • Canoe sled moved at lightning speed 100 yards down the length of the field
    • Rotate positions and repeato another two rounds

    HAPPY PECS

    • Leave Canoe and go collect NTB’s extremely solid retaining wall blocks
    • Circle up on your SIX and complete perfect coupon chest presses IC
    • x2 rounds of 10 IC
    • x2 rounds of 5 IC

    OVERHEAD TRIAL #2

    • Belay was our happy volunteer to ride the canoe at PAX shoulder level all the way back to the cars

NMS:  Final stretch before our 4th return trip to the Western Highlands of PNG. YHC is Q’ing a few other times this week so come on out to join the farewell fun. Blessed to have amazing brothers join me for some wild times in the gloom. Always new muscles discovered hauling a brother’s body weight around. And truly nothing stretches and strengthens us more than carrying our brothers’ weight – may that extend into every aspect of our lives! Yours AYE! ~DTH

  • Family Time!

A 16-count crew of PAX brothers and their families gathered at The Forge for an OTB trail blazing hike through the woods. Handshake and his family proudly represented NOJ, and while most of the PAX wore rucks, Bromance wore his adorable 2.0 in an awesome military grade carrier. Shortly after 2pm, we launched down to the railroad tracks and walked West along the tracks and then trail blazed South to Crestwood Elementary. In the melee of 2.0’s pouring through the playground gate, DTH’s 2.0 Banjo caught the sharp side of a metal latch on the cheek and the good doctor/Papa applied a snowball compress and then moleskin (thank you Sable) so he could join the rest. After 20 minutes at play, the rabble was rounded up for a looping hike through the woods and back to The Forge to complete the 1 hour adventure. Sunny and 50’s, the weather was truly perfect for this hike! Everyone then converged at Casa de DTH for backyard play and bonfire time – complemented with archery, axe throwing, zipline, trampoline, swing, s’mores, and bevvies. This is what being family is all about and we’ll miss all of you guys while we’re away in PNG the next few months. Yours AYE! ~DTH

  • Velvet Handcuffs

The Lounge looked bromantic with just Rosie and DTH doing some loungy lazy latecomer loops in the lot until Salt Lick showed up to make it a perfect Menage A Trois. The trio ambled down to join the hottest Swamp Party of 2025 and found a gaggle of endorphin-driven Draper-lovers making casual conversation as they finished Mile 4. The bootcamp trio joined the pack for a lap, then broke off for a brief warmerama. Triple Check was the obvious choice, with one man joining the Draper-ites for a lap while the other two stayed for variable reps. Each bootcamper got in a total of 4 laps and a ton of reps, then bid farewell to the Birthday Boy and moseyed up to the playground for a Mini Murph Sesh – which consisted of x3 rounds of x5 Pullups + x10 Merkins + x15 Squats. Mosey BTTF.

  • Forge Foursome Dip the Wick in James

A balmy 34 degrees greeted four ruckers at The Forge location tackling a pleasant 5 mile jaunt to the James and back in a speedy 1:25. Probably 5+ degrees cooler down by the river, and Shirley’s incline was quite the wakeup call after our long descent. Phenomenal conversation as usual, and deeply grateful for these fine brothers in YHC’s life. COT prayer for a couple men facing hard times. We can always do more for those the Lord places in our path. Yours AYE! ~ DTH

  • 4th F Theory

Five WestHo studs especially endowed with 4th F power welcomed an SOJ takeover in subzero temps. Marking YHC’s 10th Q for 2025 and (per Big Data) YHC’s 410th documented Q, YHC put experience to work ensuring we all stayed warm.

    The THANG:

    WARMERAMA:

    • Second lap picked up Handshake arriving late and completed another x10 Broad Jump Burpees so he wouldn’t feel left out

NMS:  During our little field workout YHC was astonished with the frequency and volume of the West Ho’s 4th F expression and developed a new F3 4th F theory – the earlier your AO starts, the less time your body has to leave the F in the Fartsack, thus increasing the F-factor during the workout. Anyway, it was a good little beatdown, no MABA madness though the early broad jump burpees had Handshake nervous. Nice to see Atilla twice this week, and excellent coffeerama at Starbucks! Look forward to next time gents – thanks for tolerating SOJ’s takeover! Gonna aim for hitting 500th Q this year, so just 90 to go. Yours AYE! ~DTH

NMS:  And so begins a little SOJ Takeover for our WestHo and West End brothers – let’s be honest, we just miss seeing them and need the Takeover excuse to get our SOJ-entrenched butts across the river! The Deep was a great time with fine brothers and pumpin tunes on a chilly morning. After the 8 mile ruck yesterday it felt good to give all the muscle groups a decent stretch – Old Hundred never fails and Atilla and Mr Rogers were happy to help provide ideas for the different sets. Appreciate your hospitality gents. Yours AYE! ~DTH

  • No Butter, Just Ice

13 lucky gloom brothers donned the extra weight to conquer a BRUTAL 8 mile trail ruck in preparation for the Frozen Triangle 10-miler happening Feb 8th. After hearing from young Snap he was running behind 15 minutes, the on-time 12-PAX set out from Pump House Park and set a blazing pace down the North Bank trail toward the City. En route, Offshore came running past from the other direction and mentioned the Buttermilk was treacherous. Hmmmm, maybe we should have listened… Starting 15 minutes behind the pack, there was no way Snap was gonna catch up. But the PAX was stopped a few times for water and stretch breaks, and their beloved Q also made them do some IC Flutters and Squats once we crossed the Bell Isle bridge. We also added the Bell Isle loop, but still young Snap hadn’t arrived. This was where the Q asked for volunteers to go back for the SIX, and the PAX split with Ponch leading the front runners toward the Buttermilk, while YHC and a platoon of big-hearted warriors circled back over the Bell Isle suspension bridge in search of Snap. Turns out he blew past Bell Isle and was about to cross the Browns Island footbridge, but we got him turned around and once united we took off at double speed to catch the front runners. Finally reaching the Buttermilk, we knew catching up was going to be near impossible – the entire trail was covered in ice. A few of us who participated in the Grow Ruck had many reflective moments remembering the painfully slow progress under extra weight on these same trails, only then they were slick with hard rain instead of hard ice. Right then we all agreed Rodeo Clown’s strap-on ice grips to be a genius move. It was grueling but the PAX set out to try and catch up with the front-runners, and we periodically shuffle-jogged where the trail permitted. As it turned out we never had a chance to catch them, and the Ponch Crew were driving past us as we were finally crossing the Nickel Bridge. SUPER proud of these men for taking on what turned out to be a wildly challenging CSAUP. In comparison I expect the Frozen Triangle ruck will be a walk in the park. We have 15 PAX so far HC’d to ruck it – WHO ELSE WANTS IN?!?  Yours AYE! ~DTH
