  • Half way there

2 regulars decided to run rather than Ruck this morning, the route was from BWES through JRHS cross Robious into River Downs, turn left up the hill turn right on River Downs turn right on Robious BTTF

    NMS:

According to Big Data today is 50 Q’s for Doozy, so half way to YHCs goal of 100 for the year. It was a good time to go a little deeper than just the surface with Singer this morning and YHC is glad we had that time.

  • Not sure if this is better than Putt Putt

5 Southsiders and 1 almost Northsider joined YHC for an early morning round of Burpee Golf. According the guy that was serious about his track work this morning here is what went down.

Mosey to the track for COP

DQs, Helicopters, Imperial Walkers, LBCs, Merkins

Mosey to the goal line of the football field and get the frisbees out

YHC will call a target to shoot at, PAX throws their frisbee at the same time but has to do the number of Burpees of their shot. If its your first shot – 1 Burpee, Second shot – 2 Burpees so on and so forth. If a HIM catches your frisbee you get 5 penalty Burpees plus the shot you’re on Burpees. If the HIM attempts to catch your frisbee and touches it but misses then he has to do the 5 Burpees plus his shot Burpees.

In all we probably finished 10 – 12 rounds

Mosey BTTF – LBCs, American Hammers

Numbers / Names Duke took us out

    NMS:

Posey gets the nod for making the old people do more Burpees but he also had the most missed catches which gave him more Burpees too. These frisbees where $0.17 each at Wal Mart so they don’t fly very well and on a par 4 you can end up shooting well over and if someone catches your frisbee it close to doubles your Burpee count.

  • Just YHC and Andy Stanley

YHC landed at River Run this morning knowing that Doublemint would not be making an appearance but hoping to see Chef Boyardee (DR from CA).

At 5:30 and without a soul in sight YHC grabbed the earpods and weight vest and set out on the Roller Coaster. An Andy Stanley pod cast was found and gave YHC much to ponder along the way. The discussion this morning was on the political divide in this country and how if we could move from the far Right or far Left more to the middle (not to move our political views) but to hear and reason with those of the opposite view we would be far better off as a country and things might actually get done. He sited a ton of scripture (more than YHC can recall) but some of the main points were Loving your neighbor, serving not being served and having ears to hear truth.

  • Getting back on the SOJ Q sheet

7 bootcampers 1 walker and 3 runners made their way out of the Gloom to see what YHC and Posey had in store for them.

Mosey to the bottom of the hill for the COP

DQs, Helicopters, Imperial Walkers, Cherry Pickers, LBCs

Doozy Q – Mosey to the track for a Merkin Mile – one lap around the track stopping at the start and finish of the straightaways for 10 Merkins X4 gets to the mile

Posey Q – Mosey up the stairs Triple check Partner 1 does wall sits, Partner 2 does American Hammers, Partner 3 runs down the stairs on the far side and back up the other side

Doozy Q – Mosey to the tennis courts 4 corners corner 1 10 ball dippers, Corner 2 20 squats, Corner 3 30 Heals to Heaven, Corner 4 Calf raises Repeato same exercises Bernie to each corner

BTTF – for an AB ring of fire PAX holds best Schrunchy Frog start position while Rosie starts with 15 of his favorite AB exercise and it works its way to the left, each HIM does their own favorite AB exercise.

After being gone for a week getting back on the SOJ Q sheet was a must for YHC and now that baseball will be on a short break Posey wanted to start going to some of the beatdowns. YHC told him that the beatdowns are free of charge but the cost is what you put into it, he will be on the Q sheet from time to time for sure.

  • Doozy brought a Prostitute and a Beast to Myrtle

7 Regulars showed up to the Plank for a Doozy Q for a second go round this week. Starting at 4:45 we put in about 2 miles before the beatdown.

One of the best AOs on the planet, its a football field with astro turf and a rubber track around it. At 5:15 the lights automatically come on and stay on until the beatdown is done.

Mosey to the far side of the field for a COP

    DQs, Helicopters, Merkins, LBCs,

Mosey back across the field for the beast

Squats, LBCs, Ball Dipers, Jump Squats, Knee slides, Big Boy Sit-ups

Mosey to the corner of the field for a Prostitute four corners use the base line to the 25 yard line cross to the other side back to the base line

Another great AO with a great group of guys. Candy Cane hooked YHC up with a spot to Q for my last beatdown in Myrtle Beach, we will be heading back to RVA after a quick baseball game in the morning. YHC was a little surprised that these guys had never heard of a Beast or a four corners Prostitute, so they got educated on both. There was a lot of forth F (feedback) during the beating but in the end everyone had a good time. SYITG

  • Bomb Squad in Myrtle Beach gets a Doozy Q

11 Regulars and 1 traveler show up at 4:45 (yes 4:45) for a 3 mile pre-run ans then a beat down at 5:15.

This AO is comparable to Twin Team (at least from BWES) it’s a Church with a recreational area (baseball fields, soccer fields and things like that).

    COP in the parking lot

    DQ’s – 5 Burpees, Helicopters – 4 Burpees, Hillbillies (they liked the added jump) – 3 Burpees, Imperial Squat Walkers – 2 Burpees, LBC’s – 10 Burpees

Mosey to the end and teach them parking lot crawls and on the way back crabwalks with LBC’s

Mosey between the baseball fields for a triple check partner 1 does dips, partner 2 does incline merkins, partner 3 runs (X3)

Mosey to the side lot for Man Killers

Mosey back to the main parking lot 4 corners – Corner 1 10 ball dippers, Corner 2 20 Jump Squats, Corner 3 30 Squats, Corner 4 40 Calf Raises

This was my first ever Q outside of RVA and YHC had the best time. I have been to many other AO’s and learned all kinds of new things but to be able to get out and get after it with a group that you don’t know and at an AO that you’re only vaguely familiar with is a different experience all together. Thanks to Cross Stitch and the gang for letting me lead and if you’re ever in Myrtle Beach look these guys up (Nameorama will be posted in the comments).

YHC has been to all these AO’s but it was during the Summer Tour a couple years ago, YHC has never Q’ed them in the past. This week has been an honor and a blessing to get out away from my normal PAX and visit with brothers that I haven’t seen in quit some time. Thank you for letting me join you this week.

  • You do you run Route

9 regulars, 1 Down Ranger and 1 from across the river came to see what SOJ was going to send their way this morning. YHC was the chosen one, really YHC just signed up for it but chosen one sounds better.

After a very long email from Gomer with every possible route known to man for the Currahee area 2 where chosen a 6 miler and a 4 miler. Some discussion about who was going what distance and what the routes where. YHC, Lighthouse and Oloff went the longer route and ended up around 5.5 miles but it wasn’t the one YHC had printed off. Everyone else went the distance they felt comfortable with and met back at the flag in 45 minutes.

  • There is always time for Burpees

16 of Richmond’s finest men gathered in the parking lot at Mary Mumford ES to see who would be the SOJ Q for the morning. This is what was said to have happened

Mosey to the basketball court for disclaimer and COP

DQ’s – 5 Burpees OYO, Helicopters – 4 Burpees OYO, Hillbillies – 3 Burpees OYO, LBC’s – OK TYA if you insist we will do 2 Burpees OYO but the last exercise is 10 Burpees OYO

    Mosey to the soccer fields

In the middle of the fields there is a bucket and surrounding the bucket are 12 frisbees set out like the numbers on a clock. Each frisbee has an exercise written on it. You run from the bucket to a frisbee do 25 of that exercise and run back to the bucket do 5 Burpees and move clockwise to the next frisbee. Work all the way around until you’ve been to every frisbee.

    Mosey to the tennis courts

    4 Corners Prostitute, corner 1 – 10 WWII’s, Corner 2 – 20 Scrunchy Frogs, Corner 3 – 30 American Hammers, corner 4 – 40 LBC’s

Announcements: Sign up to Q at the Bridge Ministries

    NMS:

YHC was all set for the Q this morning but got a bit nervous when such a large crowd gathered. In my head we would have about half of the crew that showed up but I am glad the numbers where bigger than YHC expected. Burpees are always a crowd pleaser and YHC is happy to (liberally) dish them out with a side helping of running.

  • YHC needs a tour guide

7 regulars, 1 FNG and a wanderer from SOJ went in search of a hill to run near Atlee HS but found gentle rollers rather than one big one

YHC will not pretend like he knew where we where headed nor remembers where we went but some made it close to 5 miles, some cut off the edges and did 3 or 4 miles. There was supposed to be a fairly big hill involved but Hash and Marco Pollo lead YHC through the woods to get some extra miles in and we ended up by passing the hill. There where many rolling hills through the Giles Community which is a route that YHC hasn’t been down yet so I was glad to see a different side of the Atlee area.

    NMS:

Welcome aboard Dew Point congratulations on your first post being one of the muggiest days of the year this far.

Thanks to Hash and Marco Pollo for being YHC’s tour guides this morning. YHC had a direction in mind but Google maps didn’t show the little paths to get from one neighborhood street to another to complete the loop. It’s always good to have a local with you.

YHC will try to get out a little more and away from his normal stops. You sometimes forget the brothers you have met and there are a bunch out there in the Gloom that you haven’t met yet.

“If your presence doesn’t make a difference to those around you, your absence won’t make a difference.”

Go out there and make a difference
