  • Partner up in pairs for Triple Check?

Seven stay-in town Spring breakers made it out to FW to get beatdown in before the rain started. After a brief discussion of whether Oyster’s appearance would cause an accidental SOJ takeover from YHC we got after it. According to the early morning biker who wiped out admiring Senor Frog’s Mountain Climber form we did:

COP: SSH, Don Qs, Imperial Walkers, Merkins, LBCs, Scorpion Kicks (both correct and incorrect)

Mosey to back of church: Partner up in to Triple check pairs. Derkins, Freddy Mercurys, run to bus and back. Few rounds of lunge, bear crawl, HRMs, & other stuff.

Mosey to covered section for Dora 123: 100 HRMs, 200 Mtn Climbers, 300 LBCs. Mosey back to parking lot. Lunge, WWIIs, & sprint over to Henrico’s smallest park: 3 (no 2) rounds of Plerkins. Back to flag with 1 min of Mary. YHC took us out.

NMS: Great to have 7 PAX out with many FW regulars out of town for Spring break. Oyster and Last Call made it 2 of 7 SOJ at the start but Last Call’s Dual region passport was noted. Technically the Q resides currently SOJ so can one region do a takeover from a same region Q? Would this be considered Fratricide? These were things to ponder that could distract the Q from clearly articulating his instructions clearly.

Gomer got some work in before he goes under the knife soon. If you are looking for a new dentist Handshake has a recommendation for you.

  • The Westhoe Fault Line

A Dirty Dozen descended upon the HBR parking lot awaiting YHC to take us to the normal COP spot. According to the Shadowboxer on the track we instead did:

COP at end of the track: Invisible Jump rope, Imperial Walkers, Don Qs, Ukrainian Solders, Merkins, LBCs, Scorpion kicks. Head over to school exit for Curb Crawls. Up to 5 Merkins and back down.

Mosey to the benches after a thwarted attempt to get on to the field. Triple check consisting of: Benchkicks, Squats, run to Heartbreak hill, up & back. Mosey over to Jerkin Gym: 4 rounds of 7 Jerkins. Head up to the top field for 2nd installment of Touch-a-Pole. 3 rounds.

Mosey back to main lot & partner up. Wheelbarrow across entire lot. Head back to flag for 2 min of Mary. Prayers for Bocelli’s Mom (and family) and for Handshake’s cousin. YHC took us out.

NMS: While the world struggles with borders and conflict in the middle east, F3RVA deals with their own border definitions. The only certainty, amongst all this chaos, is Heartbreak Ridge sits in the center of the Westhoe region, straddling the line of Tuckahoe and West End, and always draws a good mix of PAX from all over the area. The only other given is it isn’t a beatdown at HBR if you leave with dry shoes.

Good to have Bocelli in from Greensboro and Mr Holland back out at HBR for the morning. Touch-a-pole was such a success last week that YHC brought it back out. Hopefully Atilla burned those shorts he had on after soiling himself in the COP.

  • Not much madness

Six strong studs started the 1st day of Spring off right at Mumford. No basketballs or glowing rims to be found, as BigData’s colon rests up from a busy week. Instead we did:

COP: SSH, Don Qs, Imperial Walkers, Merkins, Flutter kicks, Scorpion Kicks.

Fartlek up the street, alternate sprint and jog in between streetlights. 4 corners on the field: 64 LBCs, 32 Reverse Crunch, 16 HRMs, 8 Burpees. Head to middle of field: 4 HRMs, 2 Burpees.

Over to blacktop for Dora 123: 100 HRMs, 200 Pickle Pounders, 300 LBCs. Keep partners: 4 rounds of 8 Jerkins. Mosey to Tennis courts for rounds of sprints and lunges. Some bear crawls too. Mosey back to flag for 4 min of Mary. YHC took us out.

NMS: Solid PAX this morning as we keep moving in the windy conditions. Bodos seemed to be looking to whet his competition whistle this morning but no games to be found. Guess he needs to come out for Pickleball soon. Jerkins on the yellow dip bars are unpleasant as they are extra-girthy and not easy to get a good grip on.

  • Serving up requested Core Work

A terrific ten, including 2 tardy PAX, took off behind QMS to start their day at HBR. Bottle Cap from Waxhall(?) joined us from NC so YHC gave him a tour of the premier West End Tuesday AO.

COP: SSH, Don Qs, Ukrainian Soldiers, Merkins, LBCs, Correct Scorpion Kicks

THE THANG: 10 HRMs at all 6 basketball hoops, alternate bear crawl & lunge between. Partner up for Dora 123: 100 Donkey Kicks, 200 Carolina Dry Docks, 300 LBCs. Down to show our visitor the Jerkin Gym: 4 rounds of 8 Jerkins & try to stay out of the mud.

Mosey over to benches for Benchkicks & Derkins: 3 rounds increasing each time. Back over to Jerkin gym for 3 more rounds of 6 Jerkins. Stop by the namesake Heartbreak hill: Up for 20 Squats at top them 50 Monkey humpers at bottom. One more time up and down, stop for some pickle pounders, then back to the flag. YHC took us out. Keep Homer and his family in your prayers.

NMS: Good morning with 50+ degree temps to make it feel like spring in the Gloom. Adding Gypsy in to the mix with Atilla and Handshake leads to ample mumblechatter throughout. YHC took off to the blacktop behind QMS for a non-conventional COP location. Handshake let out a loud groan on the initial Don Qs, welcome to your 40s brother.

  • No hate, no respect

Seven feisty forty-somethings started their Valentine’s Day at First Watch. We did:

COP: SSH, Upright APDs, Don Qs, Imperial Walkers, Merkins, LBCs, Scorpion Kicks, Pickle Pounders

Mosey to back of church for Triple Check: HRMs, Heels2Heaven, & run lot and back. Then 4 Corners, Honeymoon Suite style: 10 Diamond Merkins, 20 Pickle Pounders, 30 Monkey Jumpers, 40 APDs. 2nd time around add 5 to each corner.

Partner up and Wheelbarrow across lot and back. Then mosey back to FW lot with some stops for Burpees along the way. Dora 123: 100 HRMs, 200 Reverse Crunches, 300 Monkey Humpers.

Finish with 3 rounds of 25 PLTs and some Pickle Pounders to finish at the end. YHC took us out.

NMS: Solid Seven this morning at FW, with some regulars who were missed taking advantage of some early day Oral hygiene opportunities. Speaking of flossing Kubota needed some help with the Diamond Merkins connection, no wonder he is so crabby. YHC was happy to report that Fudd did not ask for clarification on any of the Qs instructions, that might be the F3RVA equivalent of pitching a perfect game.

Coffeteria after was good as always. Enjoy your V-day men and happy toothbrushing.

  • So much for the supposed Snowpacolypse

Six strong were undeterred by the pending ice storm and found the Gloom quite hospitable for an early January morning. Red Baron joined us from PA (pretzeltown region?) again so YHC tried to cover some of the Dogpile favorites for him. We did:

COP: SSH, Don Qs, Imperial Walkers, Helicopters, Merkins, Flutterkicks, Scorpion Kicks.

Mosey over to other COP circle for some Bermuda Triangle. Bear crawl to 1st corner, 10 Burpees, run down to bottom, 20 HRMs, run up hill 30 WWIIs. 2nd round: lunge over corrner, 20 Dry Docks, bottom 30 Heels 2 Heaven, top 40 SSH. Mosey over to Penny stage: Dora 123. 100 Merkins, 200 Squats, 300 LBCs.

Down to Rusty Cage: 3 rounds of 8 Pullups. Then 3 rounds of 8 Jerkins. Over to Amphitheater with stop for 3 sets of 25 PLTs along the way. Bottom of Amphitheater partner up in 3s for Triple Check: Flutterkicks, Dips, & run steps and back. With liquified Sleet starting to fall we moved onto stage for few min or Mary and Ring of Fire. Mosey back to Flag , finish with 1 min of American Hammers. YHC took us out.

NMS: For the predicted poor weather it was warmer than usual and we stayed dry. Red Baron returned for his anniversary weekend in RVA again this year and at 68 can rival our own Pigskin for discovering the source of the Fountain of Youth. It was great that all 6 PAX were SOP and Senor Frog and Mr Rogers were short sleeved as well. Oyster used the beatdown to warm himself up for his Mixed Doubles Pickleball tournament later today. When he pegs a 60 yr old Grandmother with a shot YHC will be happy to take some credit.

  • Speaking of a small penis, where is Handshake?

Nine noteworthy PAX posted to the 1st HBR of 2024. A benevolent Q tried to keep the PAX dry along the way. We did:

COP: SSH, Don Qs, Imperial Walkers, Helicopters, Merkins.

Mosey over to covered area: Pole Smokers & Merkins all the way down. Over to the Tennis courts for 4 rounds of: Wheelbarrows & 10 Derkins. Up to the PES lot for a Triple Check: HRMs, Reverse Crunch, & run lot the back. Over to Playground for Pullups: 4 Rounds of 8, WWIIs while you wait.

Back over to main HBR lot for another Triple Check: dips, Peoples chair, & run the blacktop. Finish with 3 min of Mary and Ring of Fire. YHC took us out.

NMS: With Handshake out with a Poor oral hygiene trip, YHC asked Kubota to step in and fill the role of PAX instigator. He was not needed as another HBR regular provided us with the BB title. Good to have Tonka post out at Heartbreak. Senor Frog was moving today, looks like he is pushing himself in 2024. Maybe he is the new Oyster. Nice way to start of the new year with 9 PAX.

  • Gloom or Fog

Four pax came out in to the literal Gloom of 40 degrees at dense fog. We did:

COP: SSH, Don Qs, Imperial Walkers, Ukrainian Soldiers, Merkins, Flutterkicks. Mosey to back of BWES blacktop for Triple Check (before Honeymoon found us) for: HRMs, Reverse Crunch, Run length of blacktop. Now with 4 mosey over to JRHS lot, across soggiest baseball field. Dora 123: 100 Squats, 200 Carolina Dry Docks, 300 LBCs.

Mosey over to Donkey kicks area & benches. Few rounds of: Dips, Derkins, Donkey Kicks then run up parking lot & back. Long mosey back to flag & 3 min of Mary.

Announcements: Hardest Mile foolishness at 6:00 am at Rock & Roll tomorrow. NoToll has Convergence on New Years day, 7:00.

NMS: Fog this morning was about as Thicc as YHC could remember in the Gloom. Super soupy, made it feel warmer than the 39 degrees it supposedly was. We stared with 3 but Honeymoon found us (luckily in the fog somehow) during the Triple Check. YHC chose to be kind to the PAX and kept us on the hardtop as the fields were an absolute mess.

  • SZN of GVN Birthday Edition

A Festive and Fearless Fourteen faithful posted to First Watch to find out what YHC had planned. No plan but a request for a “light on running” beatdown meant Coupons and Murder Bunnies were called for. We did:

COP: SSH, Don Qs, Ukrainian Soldiers, Merkins, Flutterkicks, Scorpion kicks. Back to get Coupons, partner up: 1 PAX lunges with block while other does 10 HRMs and the flapjack. Keep going to the mini-park. Switch partners for a Dora 123: 100 Block Thrusters, 200 Block Swings, 300 Block Bench press.

Switch partners then time for 3 rounds of Block the Plank. Keep that partner then Murder Bunny length of park then back while partner does 10 Merkins. Back to flag for 2 min of Mary and Broga. YHC took us out

Annoucements: GrowRuck coming to RVA in May. Sign up and get Rucking.

NMS: YHC was glad to serve up some Coupon time for Kubota so blame him for the Dora. The theme of the morning was ample partner switching to keep things fresh, Hornydo approves. With all the partner rotations the Recovery pack after seemed the appropriate gift for the PAX. YHC would love to hear stories from Ms as PAX arrived home with their presents this morning.

Good times as always at Coffeteria after as we got to watch Upchuck in his element- Assessing a car accident.

  • Hold on extra tight

Eight eager PAX, including our downrange visitor from Naperville, came out to see whether the Q was going to be Honeydo or Hornydo. Maybe a little bit of both:

COP: SSH, Don Qs, Imperial Walkers, Helicopters, Flutterkicks, introduce Supply Chain to Scorpion Kicks

Mosey over to PES lot for: Dora 123: 100 Merkins, 200 Squats, 300 LBCs. Over to Tennis Courts for HD favorite: Wheelbarrows and Derkins, 3 rounds each man. Down to Heartbreak Hill to introduce our visitor to the namesake but first: 4 Rounds of 8 Jerkins on the Jerkin Gym. Few rounds up and down Heartbreak hill then onto field: Partner up – 1 PAX runs field and back, other starts bear crawl, then flapjack until get to other end. Finish up with some benchkicks then 2 min of Mary at the flag. YHC took us out.

NMS: Great to have Supply Chain out to visit RVA’s best Tuesday AO. PAX covered a good amount of the AO. We tried to make him feel welcome by having a car alarm go off for 10 minutes so he would be reminded of normal Chicago area sounds. No gunfire to make him truly feel at home however. HBR is always best when Atilla and Handshake are there to spar with each other, they are the new Toga & Fudd pairing. Jerkin Gym bars were icy with a ample standing water underneath so PAX had to hold on extra carefully.
