  • Range of weight choices

Five faithful found their way to Twin Team to breathe in the yellow pollen air and toss around some weights. YHC’s watch died so according to OCs watch we took off at 5:30 for:

COP: SSH, Don Qs, Ukrainian Soldiers, Merkins, Flutterkicks, Scorpion kicks(tempo speed)

Mosey to front lawn and grab a bench. 4 rounds of: 20 Lawnmowers & 10 step ups. 3 sets of 15 Pullovers and 20 Reverse crunches. Another 25 pullovers. Mosey over to 2nd grass loop: 4 stations: 1) Swings 2) Squats, 3) Boat/Canoe 4) Curls. 5 PAX runs the loop as time. Drop KBs and head over to playground at BWES back. 4 rounds of 8 Pullups then back to KBs. Some more Pullovers and Alabama Softball players. Merkins and Boat/Canoe then back to flag. YHC took us out.

NMS: Solid 5 man pax this morning, EF Hutton came out to attempt a VGF Tuckahoe takeover of the SOJ AO but Footloose arrived to tip the scales SOJ. Stations is always good to swing different weights. Florence opts for a barbell while OC is on the Play-it-again KB leasing program where he can trade it in when he is ready for an upgrade. YHC thinks he’s ready for a 35 lb one.

Mumblechatter turned from jabs at Florence about RVA Comic-con to full on discussions of 90s wrestling. We’re all nerds about something, just depends on what you’re passionate about.

Prayers for Oyster’s In-Laws and family as well as of Slippin Jimmys family as well.

  • Sure doesn’t feel like Spring

Five frosty faithful came out to Batteau for the first day of spring to find sub-freezing winter temps. Flatline planted the flag and off we went:

COP: SSH, Don Qs, Imperial Walkers, Ukrainian Soliders, Merkins, and Reverse Crunches.

Over to field bowl for 11s of Merkins and WWIIs. Run up and down between. Mosey over to lake path and do various exercises at each lamp post. Exercises of HRMs, Squats, LBCs, Burpees, etc. Make way back up hill to flag. 3 min of mary and 10 more burpees.

NMS: Good to Q with a solid 5 pax. This morning felt Old School with all veteran pax. Congrats to Flatline for passing his Army APFT test. He was lapping dude half his age apparently. EF Hutton kept us moving by farting every time we were stationary an required a relocation. Plenty of mumblechatter about baskeball and brackets, congrats to the CNU Pirates for winning the D-III Championship.

  • Dan Marino should die of gonorrhea and rot in hell

Nine Brutus-wannabes avoided Q-regicide and the weather report to post at FW in better than expected temps. Our FNG ran to the AO (avoiding the ride with Kubota or just wanted to warm up, we’ll never know) to borrow a pair of gloves and off we went:

COP: SSH, Don Qs, Imperial Walkers, Merkins, Flutterkicks, LBCs. Off to covered area of main lot for Triple check: HRMs, Heels2Heaven, and run loop. Then 2 round of 4 corners:

Rnd 1: 10 Burpees, 20 Flutterkicks, 30 Jumpsquats, 40 SSHs. Rnd 2: 20 Merkins, 30 WWIIs, 40 Mtn Climbers, & 50 Jumpropes. Instead of running between corners there was Bear Crawl, Lunge, Bernie Sanders. Back to FW parking lot: Run the lap stopping at every jut-out to do a Burpee but add 1 burpee more each one.

Finish with 3 rounds of 20 PLTs and 90 seconds of Mary. YHC took us out.

NMS: Welcome Finkle! You know someone who runs to a 5:00 am AO his 1st workout is our kinda dude, even if he knows handshake… Solid work by all PAX, Bodos appeared to be upset there were no cinder blocks to destroy. There is still some confusion as to the actual powers of a Site Q as Kubota continues to push the boundaries towards totalitarian authority. Rumor has it he will start to require all Qs to pre-submit a weinkie for his approval. Appropriate that on the Ides of March the Bard once wrote: Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

  • Party of 5

Five faithful veteran PAX posting in perfect March weather for a HD beatdown. We did:

COP: SSH, Imperial Walkers, Don Qs, Ukrainian Soldiers, Flutterkicks, Merkins, Scorpion kicks. Mosey over to covered end of school: Alternate between bear crawl and Lunges with 5 HRMs and 10 Squats at change overs. Mosey over to PES pullup bars: 4 rounds of 7 Pullups and WWIIs.

4 Corners on PES field with 20 HRMs, 25 Flutterkicks, 30 Jump Squats, 35 Carolina Dry Docks.

Mosey over to QMS track: 10 Step ups, 20 Diips, 40 Bench kicks. Repeato +5 reps each. Per PAX request over to Jerkin Gym: 4 sets of 7 Jerkins. Finish with few rounds up and down Heartbreak hill with burpees at the top. 2 min of mary back at Flag and YHC took us out.

NMS: Small but strong pax at HBR. Always good to Q with a small but strong group, no 10 counts or waiting around for the 6, just consistent movement.

No real barbs between Handshake and Atilla, besides the flatulence kind. The ladies workout group was getting setup as we blew past them after knocking out our pullups. PAX age range was quite narrow between 39 and 47.

  • Downrange with Lancaster

showed up as only one SOP for a cinderblock Q.

  • Lights on and full moon

F3RVA’s darkest AO was anything but on a moderate February morning. The conditions, and Silent Assassin on the Q sheet, drew a bakers dozen PAX out to see what we could do in the light. We did:

COP: SSH, Don Qs, Ukrainian Soldiers, IPs, Merkins, Reverse Crunch(es)

Mosey up to soccer field for Triple Check: Run across & 5 Pullups, Donkey Kicks, & Jump Squats. Head over to 3rd back lot for a Dora 123: 100 Hand-Release Merkins, 200 Heels2Heaven, 300 SSH. Back over to main TES for Fudd’s favorite, Bearrows. 3 Burpees at each Arrow while alternating Bear crawl and Crab walk between. Finish up with 3 min of Mary and done. YHC took us out.

Announcements: Breaking Bread is now open to PAX to go in and serve and eat with those there. This is good news and a great experience if you have not done so. And we’re going back to 2017 for a relaunch of Batteau on 2/20.

NMS: Nice to see 13 strong out to start the week off right. Oyster said he had to get up early and make the drive to spice things up from his normal Satans Hill on Monday. Hoedown is always welcome to be his, and any PAXs, side piece AO. PAX stayed together well during the Triple check but on the Dora had some wild variances in finish times. Some said form was abandoned, Handshake wasn’t there to critique Hand-release merkin form. Fudd was so excited we came back to do the Bearrows that he pushed through and finished first. YHC was worried he would try to get injured by the dumptruck to get out of it but we all stayed safe.

  • Well you go tell HR to F#*^ off!

6 strong including a FNG came out to The Crucible on sunny Saturday morning with a Hot Potato Q. Anthrax started us off on the initial mosey and then passed the Q of the COP to Shakedown.

COP: SSH, Ukrainian soldiers, Don Qs, Helicopters, Arm Circles, Merkins, LBCs. Q back to Anthrax. He served up 4 corners: 5 burpees, 10 Merkins, 20 WWIIs, 30 SSH. We did it cumulative with going back to the start at each corner. Shakedown took us back to the playground where Offshore took the Q. 4 rounds of pullups and crawl bear rounds.

Offshore passed the Q to YHC. We did 4 rounds of Swing-ups and WWIIs, a triple check of Donkey Kicks, Squats, and up the hill. Finish up with 3 rounds of PLTs, some APDs, and YHC took us out.

NMS: Good group this morning with strong work put in by our FNG SlowHand. He got to experience the quickest Q handoff ever with Anthrax leading us on the mosey over and then passing to Shakedown. Mumblechatter centered around the universal experience that all productive workers hate HR, regardless of industry or field. YHC is pleased to know he is not alone in this stance.

Announcements: Next Saturday is last week of Crucible before we merge with Healing Place 10k training team. Flintstone will be doing his VQ! Be there. Also still space for Bear Creek 10 miler in March.

  • Reverse RAMM Ruck

2 ruckers set out for a late evening Ruck. We took off from River Road Shopping Center, up batcave and on and up to Grove. Turnaround almost at Mumford and back the way we came. Lots of good conversation and over 5 miles logged under weight.

NMS: Nice hilly stroll up to Grove where we got some strange (but interested looks) from the Tuckahoe wives leaving Cafe Caturra a lil tipsy on wine. Good topics covered with the most promising being a river-related CSAUP of some sorts involving kayaks, biking, and running sometime this summer. With nicer weather coming we need more ruckers to join us, it is a blast.

  • Predictions worthy of FOMC appreciation

The perfect number small PAX count assembled at HBR with an assurance of a rain-free beatdown courtesy of YHC. We’ll leave it to the meteorologists to check the accuracy of the Qs claims but we did:

COP: SSH, Don Qs, IPs, Merkins, LBCs, Scorpion Kicks.

Mosey over to the properly illuminated PES front lot for a triple check: HRMs, Heels2Heaven, & Run the loop. Mosey to side lot for rotating Donkey kick & Peoples chair line. Over to Pullup station: 4 rounds of 8 Pullups & WWIIs. 3 Rounds of 25 PLTs.

Over to benches for some challenging math: 10 Derkins & 20 Benchkicks. 4 rounds while increasing each by half of the original count (very straightforward). Finish with a partner bear crawl across the blacktop and 2 min of Mary at end. Atilla took us out.

NMS: Sometimes life is a paradox; if you want to lose weight order a Clydesdales F3 shirt. That is sure to get you under 200 lbs as Atilla can attest. Lighthouse showed up in fully absorbent cotton attire confident in the No rain call that YHC texted out yesterday afternoon. Whitesnake arrived ready to post in -48 degree temps rather than the comfortable 48 degree temps we had. Maybe he’s trying to sweat off some extra lbs.

Offshore struggled with the multi-variable algebra required to complete the Benchkicks & Derkins escalator. Between Lighthouse and him with 2 PhDs in mathematic related fields they were able to finish. We were missing one of our HBR mainstays this morning, apparently the pull of the fartsack was too strong.

  • Watch out for the PTA

6 strong, including a FNG, came out to a packed parking lot at Punisher. We got out of the way of all the PTA attendees and got after it:

COP: SSH, Don Qs, Helicopters, Ukrainian Soldiers, Merkins, LBCs

Mosey to side of school: Alternate Bear Crawl & Lunges down to blacktop. Partner up for min Dora: 50 Merkins, 100 V-Ups, 150 Jumpsquats. Mosey over to playground for 4 sets of Merkin-Ups and WWIIs. Head over to benches: 4 sets of 30 Dips and 10 Deep-slow squats.

Partner up again: 3 rounds of 20 PLTs then some B2W and Chicken Peckers. Back to the front of the school for a Triple Check of HRMs, Reverse Crunch, & run the loop. 1 min of Mary and finish back at the flag.

NMS: FNG Full Nelson posted on recommendation of a friend. The double-respect FNG put in solid work and will be back. EF Hutton joined YHC on a Monday double dip after Flo’s solid VQ. Whitesnake thinks he’s a Punisher regular now but he needs to Q a few more times before qualifying for regular status. Good to see 40 Whacks back out and he was even nice enough to dress in same outfit as the Q.
