  • 3rd F Hot Potato

The Q for the 3rd F opened up at about 4pm, but 5 PAX posted to show that a meaningful 3rd F hot potato can be had.

There seemed to be a theme in the PAX names of single-word compound names. The next 3rd F is open to all PAX.

Prayers for YHC’s mother-in-law as she undergoes surgery today.

The next 3rd F is on Zoom on Tuesday, July 21st at 8pm. The Q is open!

The plan is to continue meeting virtually biweekly through August 18th, then transition to in-person meetings in each nano-region. YHC’s church is a resource with discussion materials and questions, so Qing is no more difficult than a regular beatdown.

  • Nothing Virtual about This Dawg

The 2.0 and dog obliged YHC for something like a Murph with a few modifications. Strong work was put forward by the PAX.

Announcements: This will be the last VR Dawg (and the last F3 virtual beatdown) for now. If anyone has another F3 use for the Zoom account, feel free to ping YHC.

3rd F will continue on Zoom. The next one is Tuesday June 23rd at 8pm. Honeydo with the Q.

  • Here’s the Story…

Nine PAX showed up with eight working speakers to participate in the 2nd 3rd F on Zoom. This thing still needs a name!

NMS: Disclaimer, The Thang, COT (well, the whole thing is a COT).

EF gave a positive report about his dad – he should be coming home soon. Great news!

The next 3rd F will occur on Zoom on Tuesday, June 23rd. Honeydo with the Q.

  • Triple Red Hot 7s of a Different Sort

Don Draper logged in to prevent YHC’s crawl back to the fartsack for a beatdown that went something like this:

    COP: SSHs, IWs, DQs IC

Optimus Prime: 7 sets of 7 reps of 7 exercises, with 20 Mountain Climbers on the side of each set to simulate running. Exercises: Diamond Merkins, Pickle Pounders, Touch Knees, WWIIs, Jump Squats, J Los, Burpees

    American Hammers IC

    COT

Announcements: HDHH tonight, 3rd F next Tuesday at 8pm, Tron next Monday at 5:30am, VR Dawg next Wednesday at 5:30am.

NMS: YHC wanted to try a virtual Beast, but rather than just slay the Beast, PAX went beyond towards perfection with an additional set, rep, and exercise.

It was great to have Don Draper back out in the virtual gloom. PAX agreed that intentional moving around is essential to maintain health while working remotely.

F3 Quiz of the Day: What two PAX members’ first and last names differ by only a single letter?

    Answer: Don Draper and Doublemint

  • Boberry’s Lucky Day

Two regulars posted for a Zoom gloom beatdown that went something like this:

1-minute mosey to the COP: SSHs, Merkins, Storm Squats, Scorpion Dry Docks, WWIIs, Lunges. You know what’s coming.

Lucky Horseshoe. One-minute run before each set of exercises, with 20 reps for each exercise:

    1. Merkins
    2. Merkins, Storm Squats
    3. Merkins, Storm Squats, Scorpion Dry Docks
    4. Merkins, Storm Squats, Scorpion Dry Docks, WWIIs
    5. Merkins, Storm Squats, Scorpion Dry Docks, WWIIs, Lunges
    6. Storm Squats, Scorpion Dry Docks, WWIIs, Lunges
    7. Scorpion Dry Docks, WWIIs, Lunges
    8. WWIIs, Lunges
    9. Lunges
    10. Victory Lap

PAX were probably on about lap 8 when the 33 minute buzzer went off, but completed the 9th round before 6:15.

    COT

Announcements: HDHH on Zoom today at 6pm. Meeting ID: 822 7005 7337. PM for password or get the direct link on Slack. Tron next Monday at 5:30am, VRDawg next Wednesday at 5:30am, next 3rd F (needs a name!) June 9th at 8pm.

NMS: YHC borrowed Boberry’s Powerpoint innovation to help keep track of Lucky Horseshoe laps. Well, YHC’s picture of a Powerpoint slide, anyway.

Storm Squats were performed two-count. Scorpion Dry Docks were 10 single count each leg. Hopefully we can check in with Loose Goose to see if that is the proper accounting. YHC was probably not running a 4-minute mile pace on the 1-minute mosey, so comparisons to “official” Lucky Horseshoes are probably not possible, but this seemed to be a good beatdown to get the sweat flowing.

PAX agreed Kubota did a great job leading the 3rd F last night. As was mentioned then, PAX agreed that they are grateful for the culture of respect and encouragement that F3 RVA has maintained during the pandemic.

  • The Perils of Moseying in the Gloom

Mosey to the COP: Disclaimer, SSHs, IWs, DQs, Merkins, PPs, LBCs IC.

“Curb” crawl. 1 Derkin, Bear Crawl, 2 Merkins, Crawl Bear, up to 6 and back down to 1.

NM Escalator up and back down: 10 Plank Jacks, 20 LBCs, 30 Dying Cockroaches, 40 Jump Squats, 30 second mosey between corners.

Triple Check: HTHs, WWIIs, 30 second mosey

ROF: 10 Chuck Norrises, 10 Merkins, 10 Werkins, 10 Merkin + Arm Swing (What are these called?), 10 LBCs, 10 Diamond Merkins.

Announcements: HDHH today at 6pm on Zoom. Tron on Monday at 5:30am on Zoom. 3rd F next Tuesday at 8pm on Zoom.

NMS: Tclaps to Snitch for his second post in a week. Keep up the good work!

Snitch got his shoe stuck on the round 1 mosey of the Triple Check and was rescued by Boberry. We audibled to complete the exercises as a PAX. YHC took a spill on the deck during the first mosey to the COP. We may need to amend the disclaimer…

    SYITG!

  • F3RVA 3rd F AO

    F3RVA 3rd F AO

PAX, clear your calendars for this time next week. An online 3rd F AO is opening up on Zoom. The first inaugural will be led by Kubota on “Joy Comes in the Morning”.

Time: Biweekly, Tuesdays, beginning May 26th at 8pm

Location: Zoom (Meeting ID: 822 7005 7337, pm for the password or check Slack)

The purpose of this AO is to push the PAX along their journey in developing the 3rd F – Faith.  We recognize that PAX are at their own place on the journey and proceed at their own pace.  PAX are encouraged to share.  It is not required to share (wise men learn by listening), but there is a requirement to allow others to share.  What is shared in this 3rd F stays with the 3rd F; it is a COT.  None of the PAX has a monopoly on the truth, though we are all truth seekers.  It is fine to disagree.  If there are not disagreements, then we are probably doing it wrong.

    This 3rd F event:

    • Is free of charge,
    • Is a discussion based on the Christian faith, but is open to all men,
    • Is peer led by volunteer Qs who may or may not be certified/ordained.

  • Dialing It In

Five real life warriors posted virtually for a beatdown that went something like:

30-second mosey around the property for COP IC: SSH x20, IW x20, DQ x20, LBC x20, Merkins x10

Lindsays: Merkins and Calf Raises with 10 Bunny Hops in between each exercise.

Four Corners: 10 WWIs, 20 Merkins, 30 Squats, 40 SSHs.

11s: Pickle Pounders, Lunges 10 single count, HRMs, Reverse Lunge

11s: Dips, Bear Crawl, Air DKs, Crawl Bear

    COT

    Announcements:

Happy hour at the same Zoom link (on Slack), today at 6pm. Tron is Monday at 5:30am, same link. Daville is working on a local Memorial Day option.

Prayers for Don Draper’s coworker and family.

    NMS:

Doublemint posted solo to SOT this morning, so dialed in to VR, Dawg to be with the PAX. Brilliant! PAX are welcome to use that option on Mondays and Wednesdays if they find themselves posting solo. The link is on Slack.

Honeydo officially Zoom-proofed his Monday beatdown, so YHC had to look elsewhere for inspiration. The May Daville Merkin Challenge was the inspiration for today’s workout. Merkin count was 195.

Want to join us in the Zoom gloom? Here is a checklist:

    1. Prepare your tech.
      1. Wireless earbuds, wired earbuds with phone in pocket, laptop, and tablet have all been successfully used.
      2. Download and test the Zoom app.
      3. Prepare a ziplock bag for the phone.
      4. Test your sound and Wifi/cellular signal around the outside of your property ahead of time.
    2. Let the dog out so they don’t bark at you as an intruder.
    3. Make peace with the neighbor’s dog.
    4. Mondays, bring a coupon.
    5. Wednesdays, identify a step or bench for dips, derkins, step ups, etc.
    6. Clean up after the dog the night before.
    7. Add your typical drive time to your sleep. But not more. Getting set up can take some time in addition to all the usual morning routines.

Announcements: Zoom happy hour 6pm, Tron virtual beatdown Monday at 5:30am, both at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82270057337?pwd=dzhnV0RMalpVSXFzck1ZVzFFTVJOdz09. Bring a coupon Monday if you have one, or be prepared to modify. Password is on Slack.

NMS: An overqualified PAX continued the eternal debate of “When is the halfway point of a Jack Webb?”

F3 RVA Virtual Guidance Updates: 1) Consider one ear bud so that you can use the other ear to keep a check on how much noise you are making for the neighbors and check if you woke the dog up (not that there is much to be done about either one). 2) When Qing cadence, one option is that Q can call the entire cadence and PAX can chime in (however asynchronously). Today’s Q was spent after attempting this. Boberry made it look easy on Monday.
