  • Hero Cuts

Vinny Baseball was born at Batteau, so it only made sense for it to depart from Batteau. Was glad to be able to have BT experience what others have so eloquently described:

“F*$^ me! I’m so tired of being sore” – Hardywood (5/5 rotten tomatoes)

“Fun for the whole family” – Upchuck (there aren’t enough tomatoes)

I think ‘Ole BT got his groove back. Hero pitches were thrown. Hero cuts were taken. What a beautiful morning for some calisthenics, infield and BP.

  • POG F3 anniversary

One year ago I came out to my first F3 workout- The Murph. So I figured I’d show some anniversary love by doing it again.

    Run a mile

10 rounds of 10 Jerkins (no pull-up bar in NewMarket), 20 Merkins, 30 squats

    Run another mile

Finished in record time with 15 minutes to spare so we did some core work, 2 rounds of donkey kicks, finished with a few rounds of curls with rocks (Wilson picked one that was 100 lbs ?? )

Great work guys! Glad to lead this group and be a part of F3.

  • Mo Bamboo

Two groups of 10 (and TYA) posted to see Vinny off to Charlottesville (at least that is what I am going with). The encore:

COP: Mosey to and around the traffic circle to enjoy the new (and poorly laid) asphalt. Introduce myself to the audience, and away we go. Swirly Hangs x 10 / Helicopters x 10 / LBCs x 10 / Scorpion Kicks x 10.

Beast Theater: Mosey to our coupon dealer Penny to negotiate some coupons. Back down to the amphitheater for Beast Theater. On the way up the stairs, carry the coupon as you wish. On the way down, carry it above your head. Exercises at the 5th, 10th and 15th steps on the way up and back down (al la the Beast).

Round 1: Curls Round 2: Squats Round 3: Incline Merkins. Round 4: V-ups Round 5: Decline Merkins Round 6: Chuck Norris Merkins

Whatchamacallits (Jack Webbs): You know the drill. 1 to 10 / 4 to 40.

Merkin Egg Toss (Field Day was supposed to be today): Partner up. Go until we declare a winner. Variety Merkins x 10 in between rounds. Burpees included. Congrats to Wojo and Bodos for their asterisk Field Day victory, 2020.

6MOM: 100 Flutter Kicks (as if you didn’t see that coming).

    TYA took us out.

NMS: This won’t serve as my “see you later” post (more to come), but to those of you who were there today, thank you. It really meant a lot. TYA really brought us home with his words. Please be reminded of them minute by minute. Hour by hour. Day by day. We are all brothers. But that only matters if we support each other, as brothers. Life matters. Respect matters. Civility matters. Let’s all be stewards for good and decency.

Awkward Transition / Observations: Hardywood is a soon to be Alpaca Farmer. Upchuck is a parking lot claims adjuster. Flatline is the real life Greg Faulker. Bone Thugs has coupons for llama insemination products. Doublemint is Minny Vinny. Gomer Pyle and I share an affinity for the general public. Wojo’s fiancé would get along well with Shakedown. Bodos YoYos. Handshake drinks White Claw out of bourbon bottles – allegedly. TYA can’t see, but man is he a looker. Circle K knows all about Biscuitville. Gumbo is alive and well. Rosie needs a leisure suit. Goldberg bought his wagon from the set designer of Breaking Bad. Slippin Jimmy loves Pandas.

Time for a 2 hour nap.

Days posted challenge — challenge yourself to post as many days as you can in June — 20 is the suggested number, but it seems a daunting task to make that happen. You can run with an F3 buddy or virtually work out with a friend. Running by yourself does not count. Attending the 3rd F event on Tuesday nights will count.

NMS — Hot potatoes are always hard. This one was no exception!! Peace to all my F3 brothers out there. Stay safe and be well!

  • 2 men and some rocks

Two of New Market’s finest posted on sultree drive with a sultry morning to greet them for the billy madison back-to-school beatdown. Nancy lead off with a typical assortment of COP stretches, merkins, LBCs and such. With sweat angels already on the ground inside of 5 minutes, we were off to the end of the lot to do The THANG.

It included boulders to rock our biceps and our shoulders.

3 exercises (1st and 3rd repeat) before each of 12 rotations. 6 rotations were lead by Nancy “the Rock” Lopez and included exercises followed by a run around the perimeter of the lot. Exercises were an assortment of 12 of everything – rock curls, rock press, rock skull crusher, rock tricep press…you get it.

turn it over to Herme – now the last 6 rotations. A variety of abs, merkins, more rock curls, etc. The exercises were followed by an array of advancing exercises to get across the lot – lunges, side shuffles, Bernie sanders, karaoke, front kicks, kung fu shuffle and possibly more. About the time I started wondering if it was raining, misting, or our own personal parking lot-moisture-filled cloud descending upon us, we saw New Marketeer Rosetta run by on his way to slay some miles.

With the graduation ceremony in full tilt, we did some Mary and finished the sultry full body sculpting postgraduate class with hand-release merkins.

Prayers to our Good God in the name of Jesus. Be safe, watch out for snakes and Rock on brothers.

Sad news this morning, it seems that Pee Dee is moving back to the Raleigh NC area. It has been great having Pee Dee’s presence at our AO’s and we are better men for having been able to work out with him for the past few months. YHC speaks on behalf of the RVA PAX in saying that Pee Dee will be greatly missed but we hope to see him from time to time and pray that his house sells fast and without issue.

    NMS

The whole crowd was respectable this morning, with Wild Thing leading the way. It was great to meet Dark Web, who first posted on Memorial Day–good luck to him in his Grow Ruck event next week, and hope you keep coming back. During COP, prior to doing Don Quixotes, all YHC said was “in honor of Emoji” and everyone knew what was coming. Looking forward to seeing Emoji and other F3 brothers return, when they are ready. Mumblechatter this morning included whether or not vacations would happen this summer and the difficulty deciphering fact from fiction about COVID-19. Thanks for letting me lead today, men!

As usual, I have No Idea what I’m doing…

  • Phase I Commence: Serpentine

12 runners braved the heat and beat the pavement.

    Serpentine route:

Everyone – Right on Grove, left on Hamilton, left on Hanover, run to the road ends (D street maybe). Take a right and next right on Stuart, run until it deadends at Hamilton. Take a left on Hamilton and left on Kensington.

4s – turn left back up Commonwealth to the school.

5s – take Kensington until it deadends again, turn right up and run up the little alleyway until it turns to Leonard (?) and right on Commonwealth back to the school.

    Long run Pax- TBD.

Felt like the heat of summer today boys. Hopefully we get a few cooler days before this becomes the normal. Good to see some of the regulars back out after a long absence – Lab Rat, Lug Nut, Shakedown.

Prayers to Shake as he heads off to surgery Monday.

Tclaps for TYA’s sister who survived the Rona at 103 and slugged back a cold one to celebrate. And yes, of course she’s a Masshole.

  • Back in the saddle

Three hardy men joined YHC for his first Q in over 2 months, and on a morning that seemed more spring than summer, this is what we did.

Mosey to front of school for COP, Freddie Mercury’s, SSH, arm circles, DQ, LBC’s and helicopters. Mosey back to drop off loop for Lucky Horseshoe. Stopping at each light pole, adding an exercise each time, 20 reps each. Exercises were lunges, halos, lawnmowers, swings, overhead press, goblet squats with a curl at the bottom, and snatches. Ran out of time at the second to last stop before we could get to demon crushers.

COT, numberama, namerama, YHC led us out.

    NMS

YHC attended his first workout in 2 months last week, which brought the expected amount of pain the next few days, but it was great to be back after a break due to the pandemic. Great to see Bulkhead, Phonics and Yardsale again, and found out today was Yardsale’s return to F3 as well. Thanks for helping knock a little more of the rust off!

As usual, I have No Idea what I’m doing…
