  • Potato Del Fuego

With many of our Crossing brethren out of town or busy……….it was the perfect night to break out the hot potato. Here is a brief summary for your viewing pleasure.

Mosey to the lower parking lot for a Warm-Up led by yours truly: Ukranian Soldiers, Helicopters, Imperial Walkers, Mountain Climbers, Plank Jacks, LBC’s, Heels to Heaven, Flutter Kicks, Mario Jumps, Knee Pulls, Side Lunges, Crab Walk. Probably missed a few – everything was done in perfect cadence.

Pass things over to House Party who took us on a lap around the complex with stops for 30 HR Merkins, 60 WWII sit-ups, 90 Monkey Humpers, and 120 Flutter Kicks.

Next up was Birdman who broke out a 4 corners with 20 Merkins, 25 Diamond Merkins, 30 Werkins, and 35 Carolina Dry Docks. We made our way back to the flag and mixed in some lunge walks.

The potato made its way back to YHC who called a Triple Check with Kettlebell Swings, Curls with Kettlebell, and run around the parking lot.

House Party finished things up with some assorted ab exercises.

YHC tooks us out via the COT

Final Thoughts: Had a great time collaborating with House Party and Birdman – well done fellas. We all have so much to be thankful for, so let’s enjoy the holiday!

  • Stranger Things Run

YHC and Bullseye left the larger SOT crowd for a jaunt through the underworld known as Salisbury. 4ish miles in and around the hood and back to the point of beginning. No sightings of #001, #011 or the Hellfire Club. Nice hang at the StrangerBucks for coffee after.

  • Time to Beat: 52min

Game time decision – neither the 60# Sandy or the 50# KB made it out of the back of YHC’s Taco for this morning’s drippy walk through the dark woods. With just four PAX present, and HP going easy on his knee, we opted for a speed ruck around the perimeter loop of Larus Park – no shortcuts, no stops, 52 min in total time with the stopwatch starting and ending in the Einstein lot. This establishes a baseline time for other Q’s to try and beat in future. NTB had to bounce after COT to catch baby vomit before it sullied his angelic wife’s honor, while the rest of us enjoyed a long and coffee drenched discussion about a number of books. Happy Thanksgiving brothers. Yours AYE! ~DTH

  • Stranger Things

7 grown-boys ran around this morning at The Woodshed. Here’s what went down…

    PRAYERS

    • Kid at OHES struggling to get back to 100%
    • Safety/sanity for all over the next few days
  • This ain’t the Lounge

5 Bootcamp junkies and 3 runners hit the mean streets of Midlothian to see if the last beatdown before the holiday would be a bit more Lounge like than a normal SOT. Despite how hard Orange Crush tried to push the issue YHC had a loose plan and shear determination to shave off some access calories before they get added back on tomorrow.

Mosey to the front of the school, various stretches and the usual DQ’s and Helicopter warm up. Through in a new curve ball with what I call Weeble Wobble Merkins, a merkin in a 4 count where the first down is to the right and the second down (third count) is to the left.

Mosey back one door for a partner type triple check, the exercises where dips, incline merkins and decline merkins

Mosey back to the main parking lot for some lunges. What happens when you have a wide open parking lot? Parking lot merkins of coarse, it was about here when OC realized this was not going to be a lounge like ordeal.

Mosey to the hill, team partner hill repeats. First man up calls an exercise PAX does the exercise while the first man runs to the bottom of the hill and back repeto until entire team has gone. Each HIM calls an exercise for his team to do while he’s running.

Mosey down the hill repeto but going up hill

Mosey the back way to the school, to the track for a 4 corners circle style. 10 merkins at the 50, 20 WWIIs at the far end, 30 Jump squats at the opposite 50, (20 LT Dans, 20 squats)

BTTF, Numbers / Names Don Draper took us out

    Coffee at Starbucks

NMS: Lots of good conversation and stories about Thanksgiving and what plans everyone has. Talk of kids that are home and kids that will be going away to school soon.

  • Leroy Jenkins Touches His Tree

Eleven F3RVA regulars and one Rock Hillian, recently acquired in a trade for Doozy, launched at 5 for the pre-Thanksgiving version of First Watch. Conditions remained steady at 70 and sunny. According to Leroy Jenkins, the following might have happened:

Hand release merkins (feel the wetness!),
    Flip over to WWIIs
    Flutter kicks
    Freddie Mercuries

Mosey to the triangle for Triple 20’s. Groups of three. One man run the triangle. Men 2 and 3 do 20 merkins, 20 four-count flutter kicks, and 20 four-count SSHs. 3 rounds, or due to time and Leroy, 1 full round.

Mosey back to the parking lot, touch 10 cars, and a couple of rounds of Mary.

Numbers, names, and YHC took us out with a message of thanks for what actually makes America great – our unique set of individual rights to free speech, a free press, the absence of state-sponsored religion, free assembly, and the ability to petition our government when we see fit.

    NMS:

Leroy Jenkins returned to First Watch and made the appropriate impact adding just a little bit more to an already run-heavy beat down. YHC thanks Handshake for being ready to step in. YHC’s back has been acting up, and it’s always good to know someone is ready to help if need be.

    Announcements:

Thanksgiving Convergence. 7:00 a.m. Mary “Mumford,” or Mary Munford, Elementary School, whichever you prefer. Handshake will lead us in being thankful for friends, family, manscaping, and mumble chatter. Those who park in the parking lot will be appreciated by the neighbors sleeping in.

  • Old-Fashioned KBJ

The PAX knows what’s coming: turkey, stuffing, biscuits, mashed potatoes, gravy, mac and cheese, sweet potato casserole, pie, booze, shopping, decorations, travel, in-laws.

And so, we all needed to get some energy out, burn a little adipose tissue to make room for more, take the edge off our knee jerk reactions to certain social interactions.

Zero points awarded to YHC for creativity today, but sometimes simple can be just the thing. Maybe a basic, straightforward KB workout is the antidote for the season’s complexities.

SSHs, helicopters, jazzercize, dead man hang, cherry pickers, copperhead squats, hold a deep squat, merkins, LBCs, some kind of glute Hermey-esque stretch, butterfly stretch

    20 swings, 20 squats, 20 single-leg deadlifts (10/leg), repeat 3x

    20 deadlifts, 20 APDs, 70 calf raises, repeat 3x

15 WWIIIs, 15 merkins pull throughs, 20 upright rows, repeat 3x

Biceps 21s, 20 skull crushers, 14 one arm clean and press (7/arm), repeat 3x

    Names, numbers. Announcements:

    • Daddy/daughter dance 12/6 (check slack)
    • 2 Thanksgiving convergences, 45 minutes of Mary (Mary Mumford) @7, ultimate frisbee @ Timberwolf @5:30? (not positive about the start time)

Hermey took us out. Remember to be thankful. Prayers for our brother Wildcat and his family, for the safety of travelers, for our country.

Thanks for joining me, fellas! It is always an honor to lead you.
