IPC Week 0 Half
Like children’s hearts yern for the mines, YHCs heart yerns for Iron Pax Challenge! As we’re on the cusp of YHCs 1 year, I couldn’t help but reflect on the single time I almost walked away from it all, and that was 2024 IPC Week 0. So what better way to celebrate a 1 year than the most defining part of my F3 – F1 experience and share it with fellow PAX that have not yet experienced it.
3 IPChallengers emerged from the gloom for a morning they wouldn’t forget! Here’s what the runner witnessed!
Mosey 1/3 mi for Warmarama at the E Octagon
- Imperial Walkers IC
- Don Quixotes IC
- Deadman Phelps
- Helicopters
- Fudd/Wilsons Wife
- Mosey to the bank and grab a coupon, walk it back to the E Octagon
Week 0 Half – EMOM Set
– 1st round 50 Squat Thrusters – Every minute that EMOM beeps drop and do 5 burpees to buy your way back in to counting those Thrusters.
-Once completed Run 400 meters-2nd Round 50 Burpees – The internal battle makes itself known as doubt creeps in, shut that doubt off and keep pushing. That EMOM timer becomes relentless! You buy your way back in with 5 Thrusters only to come up for air and manage to get a couple of burpees checked off before the EMOM demands you stop again for 5 more Thrusters. You can shut off your mind and all the noise and push your body, but that one noise you can’t avoid is that heartless, abysmal EMOM timer that drags you into the dark and away from your goal.
We overcame the EMOM, Burpees and Thrusters victoriously and finished with a 1 Mi victory lap before returning the coupons to their rightful place and moseyed back to the cars. Thanks for battling this one out with me men!
CoT – Wildwood is leading his 100 post tomorrow at The Lumberyard! Come join us at 07:00!

V02 Max, Christie, and Richmond’s Finest
Somewhere between 12 and 16 able-bodied pavement warriors gathered in the forbidden parking lot for today’s RAMM/RAMM Gears. The few runners were quickly swarmed by the gears crew prior to launch. Luckily, a few more runners arrived right as we launched so numbers were relatively even.
Variations of the Clovelly route were called:
4s: https://onthegomap.com/s/evbak6d6
5s: https://onthegomap.com/s/gfkphqr3
6s: https://onthegomap.com/s/3f7djt48Fartleks weren’t even discussed.
Numbers, names, YHC took us out.
Moleskine
The runners all remembered that darn goon Clovelly being much longer and deeper than experienced today (here come the jokes). It is still a good alternative offshoot to throw in there from time to time.
Discussion today centered around blissful colonoscopy naps, what the hell is VO2 Max and it’s theoretical limit, Christie Brinkley’s current status, and whether or not to buy condoms with diapers.
Great to see Richmond’s finest represented in the Mary parking lot today. Thank you Florence for all that you do!
Splinter out.

Indigenous Rings of Fire
Eight HIMS came out to Satan’s Hill on this cool morning to end the week on a high note. After a brief mosey, we warmed up with side straddle hops, Don Quixote, Ukrainian Soldiers, and some deadman hangs.
For the workout, took a tour of the neighborhood Indigenous Run style. After all members of the pax completed their sprint, we circled up for a Ring of Fire. After a full cycle through the Ring of Fire, we hit the pavement again for another Indigenous Run. Rinse and Repeat. When we finally returned to the clubhouse, Mudslide led us in 10 minutes of broga to take us home.
Was it a beat down? Not all. But it was a good, full body workout to end another week.
COT: names and numbers. Announcements: Homegrown half in 2 weeks, overnight ruck in September. Prayer requests: Teddy KGB’s daughter has surgery today; No Show bowed out of today’s workout early with a calf strain. It was an honor to lead you fine gentlemen this morning!

Pecasaurus Rex!
It’s weird when other people are at the park before us doing what we presume to be workouts, but then again they were probably wondering why we were there so early as well. Then we get a creepy car driving around the lot very slowly and suspiciously enough for us to grab our KB’s and high tail it out of there since the workout had ended. Weird morning at PFP. Anyway, this is what the strangers witnessed as 2 Rise & Grinders emerged from the gloom for some broga/kbs.
Mosey around the football field trail.
A solid 10 mins of Broga stretches at the octagon.
Grab the KB’s for some upper body strength conditioning. 3 sets of 10-12 of the following. Single and 2 Arm Curls, Single and 2 Arm bent over Rows. 5 sets of 20 real slow Merkins.
Creepy goth chick cruising around spooked us right out of there! No time for CoT

Cock-a-doodle-do!!!
7 HIMs showed up a beautiful August morn to play the much requested, desired Ultimate Football!!!
Warm Up: Side-Straddle Hops, Dead Man Hangs, Merkins, LBCs, Butterfly stretching.
The Game Plan: We numbered off with 3 (Pad-Thai, GlobeTrotter, Matlock) v 3 (Fandango, FlyBoy, Teddy KGB) Grown Men; and our newest FNG being all time offense for both teams which proved to be worth its weight in gold in strategy. Points are awarded for Interceptions (which the interceptor could FREE RUN until tagged) & FNG assists into the endzone with blocking for and/or passing to for a TD.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Pad -Thai = Boy has a CANNON for an arm!!! This pigskin chucker could throw it 60yds + on a dime. Also, awarded a point for assisting FNG with a TD.
- FlyBoy = Great blocking schemes, good use of the FNG to gain yards, great down field speed to get open! Also, awarded 2 pts for assisting with FNG TD on a great block and an Interception.
- Matlock = Who is this guy??? I don’t know because every time I looked he was past us running to an open spot and slicing up our defense like crazy. Also, awarded a point for an Interception.
- Teddy KGB = This man was everywhere and was always a go to for moving the ball forward. Always had his hand on the ball or in the defenders face stopping them from making their catches.
- Globe Trotter = Like the mighty Phoenix, which he use to reside in, he was heaten up the field with his shifty moves and his collaboration with Pad. Also, very hard to cover at times… man got skills.
- Fandango = Interception here and there. His team supported him the best with pinpoint throws to the endzone.
- Rooster = New FNG ripped off 3 TDs against grown ass men! He was the deciding factor for both offenses. Amazing to see him cook!
- COT = Named new FNG “ROOSTER”; Pray for Teddy KGB’s daughter and her tonsil surgery. Also, for Globe Trotter and his interview.

Rats vs Gorillas? Talk amongst yourselves
5 Gorillas of the Gloom posted to 45MOM for a bowl full of Gumbo. 2 other PAX finished rides and runs to join for COT. This is how it went down…
Despite the feverish back and forth on Slack about animal survival and strength, we did not solve the question of 10,000 rats vs 5 Gorillas vs 3 brown bears, etc., but we did manage to break a sweat.
Mosey to the courts for COP, including some stretching.
11s – on the basketball court sideline 10 merkins, 1 box cutter, run across both courts, 9 and 2…and so on
Mosey around track to the monkey bars for The Suck
1 pax (the Timer) runs the track. Others exercise while timer is running. Exercises were: merkins, mountain climbers, imperial squat walkers and freddie mercuries. switch and rotate when runner returns.
plank on the border around the monkey bars – plank walk to the right. First PAX does 5 pull-ups and rejoins plank walk at the end. Next man up. And, so on.
20 dips OYO
Mosey to Tennis courts for a round of compounding 4 corners staying together as a PAX with 10 werkins, 20 flutter kicks, 30 squat jumps and 40 SSHs as the corners added up. 1 burpee each time we cross the net.
BTTF for 3 MOM.
COT, Numbers, Names and Prayer
Prayers for continued healing and strength for Hitch’s father as he recovers. And, prayers for F3-Obama and his family.
Announcements – August 16 is a busy day. Clown car heading to The Bridge (see Upchuck or Bootleg) and local folks come out to James River Landing (behind JRHS) for the Homegrown Half (or 10K…or whatever you want) – starting at 0600.
No More Gumbo For You!

No Bourbon for Banjo
14 came out for another installment of Circus Maximus w/ YHC hosting. As a few stragglers arrived, we began:
COP: SSHs, 1 Burpee, DQs, 2 Burpees, Cherry Pickers, 3 Burpees, Mt. Climbers, WWIIs, 4 Burpees, Merkins and 5 Burpees. While we pushed hard during Burpees, Gypsy drank his coffee.
The Thang: 15 Overhead Presses, 15 High Pulls, 15 Curls (for the cougars), 15 Sumo Squats, 15 Sit ‘n’ Press, 15 Overhead Pulls, 15 Flutters – all OYO. Take a lap. Repeat, but 12. Then 9, 6 & 3.
Amandas (Like a Lindsay, but 20 is the magic number) on the picnic tables. We did step ups (with the KB of course) and Lawn Mower Pulls. 15-5, 10-10, & 5-15. Somewhere in there Gypsy had a fall and his left ankle immediately began to swell. If you see him around, tell him to not run on it. He’s stubborn and will need many of us to tell him to rest it.
Triple check: Timer bear crawls about 40 ft to a light post and runs back. P2 did Curls and P3 did Overhead Press.
And time!
Numbers. Names.
Announcements: 8/16 – Homegrown 1/2 and see UpChuck about a trip to The Bridge. See Fudd and Green Hornet about playing 100 Holes of Golf.
Prayer Requests: Continued prayers for little Charlotte, Fireman Ed’s recovery, Fudd’s sister Mary and now Gypsy’s ankle. YHC took us out, asking that God, the great healer, heal our wounds, those seen and unseen, those spoken and unspoken.
Thx as always to Offshore for providing coffee, which leads to a great chance for 2nd F. Today, some Bourbon Cream got set out by the coffee. Banjo, computer scientist slash coder extraordinaire and recent graduate of Penn State, claims he’s 22, but we all needed to see some ID so we wouldn’t get charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor, while drinking at 6:15am behind the local high school. Just another day at the circus with these clowns.
Have a great day fellas! Go do something for someone else.
SYITG!

Beat It & Bam write a Back Blast
It was one of those lonely parking lot mornings at 530am, still no one around. “Coming in hot? …. I guess not” said Beat It to himself, looking at his watch. A few stretches and an internal pep talk about the joys of solo running two minutes later, when Beat It’s hopes were lifted. A pair of headlights in the distance squealed to a stop & a figure emerged from an unknown car.
“Beaver, is that you?” From a distance, you gotta admit …
But it wasn’t Beaver. Daville’s finest new recruit from Shady Grove Methodist staff spoke from the Shadows “It’s me … BAM”“Who?”
A hearty 3.5 mi course with 1 mile on, 1 minute off, was the pace. Topics included “Who fooled you into coming out to F3?” “Why the name” “What actually works to change your diet” “What motivates you to run – 25 reasons but only 1 remains”
Great to meet BAM!
TRIVIA IS TONIGHT – 7PM – INTERMISSION NEXT TO THE TIRE SHOP
