  • The Hoe’s of Westhoe

This is a work of fiction. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events is purely coincidental

Scene: Secret meeting of the wives and girlfriends

Mrs. Handshake: Welcome to everyone.  I am excited to learn more about you and today’s workout.

Mrs. Whitesnake: I wonder if Whitesnake had a good workout with Asswhipe and Bloodysnot?

Ms. Hutton: Don’t forget Dipshit and Atomicwedgie.

Mrs. Lighthouse: Ha!  I also don’t think they know what a merkin is.

Mrs. Offshore: I am just hoping they continue to keep their bromance to themselves.

Ms. Bumble/Horneydo: Nice to meet you all. What are you talking about. And by the way, I’m exhausted after all those Fs.  So is Horneydo, that’s why he missed.

Mrs. Whitesnake: I heard they had eight people. Is that as big as it gets?

Mr. Attila: That’s what she said.

Mrs. Whitesnake: Yes, I did.  How do I know if it is big?

    Senorita Frog: Ask Handshake’s Mom.

    Handshake’s Mom: No comment.

Mrs. Handshake: He likes calling himself a Clydesdale but that’s far from the truth.

Mrs. Offshore: Let’s focus on what they claim they did this morning.

Mrs. Whitesnake: I am sure they started with some warmup of jumping jacks and situps but with dumb names so they think they are cool.

Mrs. Pigskin: The only thing I ever hear at home is how my husband kicks all your guy’s butts.

    (everyone else nods their heads)

Mrs. Whitesnake: Speaking of Pigskin, there is a football field there.  My guess is they ran up and down the field doing some sort of exercise.

Mrs. Lighthouse: I did hear a complaint about a double quarter pounder?  Could that be an exercise or just the E Coli?

Ms. Bumble: Did someone say something about being pounded?

    Mrs. Handshake: Ask your mom.

    Ms. Bumble: huh?

Ms. Hutton: At some point, I think there will be a hill and burpees involved.  But only after Crustyshorts and Shart finish getting pounded.

    Mrs. Shart: What?

Mrs. Handshake: I am guessing this is when Handshake starts complaining loudly.

Mrs. Offshore:  Probably but its hard when you are sore

Mrs. Attila: That’s what she said

    Scene.

Prayers for Faceplant’s wife, Fireman Ed, Fudd’s sister and all their families and the medical staffs involved.

Thanks for joining me during my birthday week.

  • Wiley Veterans

13 gamers made their way out to No Toll to play a game that they could not win. According to 2 Pop and his run crew this is what went down.

Mosey to the bridge and pay the entree fee. 20 Incline Merkins, 20 Dips

Mosey to the “not Pickle Ball” courts (sorry Oyster) for the COP – DQ’s, Helicopters, Dead Man Hangs, Merkins, LBCs,

Mosey to the parking lot for the main event

21’s YHC will count SSH to 18 then the PAX has to continue to count (IN THEIR HEAD) to 21. This is where the veterans who have played this game took it upon themselves to continue counting even though YHC had stopped cadence. YHC did appreciate that they continued counting as one without cadence but that’s not how the game works. Punishment #1 Run a lap, PAX continued this until all punishments where given out

Run, American Hammers, Plank Jacks, Imperial Walkers, Dips, SSH which if you take the first letter from each spells RAPIDS. The last High school Baseball game of the fall ball season is tonight, GO Rapids

Move to the base line for Parking lot crawls to 10 and back with Lunges and Squats

    Mosey to the corner, regular 4 corners 10 – American Hammers, 20 – WWII’s, 30 – LBC’s, 40 – Sugar Sticks

Repeto but with LT Dans, Jump Squats, Lunges and Moroccan Night Clubs (for Oyster)

Mosey back to the bridge to pay the toll 20 – Incline Merkins, 20 – Dips

BTTF – For a ring of fire 10 of your favorite ab exercise while PAX holds their favorite Lazy Boy position

Numbers / Names Chaplain took us out

NMS: YHC saw the Q sheet was open so seized the opportunity. 21’s is a way to keep everyone involved but everyone is a winner when nobody wins. I think that might have come from a book I read about Yogi Berra – “I never said most of the thing I said”

  • Retail Economics 101

Five pax, including 4-time returning champion Oyster, made a dow-painment on their membership dues at the St. Christopher’s Country Club on Monday.

    The Thang:

    • Tabata #1: SSH / IW
    • Hot Lap #1
    • Tabata #2: Alternating Leg Bulgarian Split Squats
    • Hot Lap #2
    • Tabata #3: Alternating Shoulder Lawnmowers
    • Hot Lap #3
    • Tabata #4: Plank Rotation (Regular, Hand Taps, Elbow Taps, Shoulder Taps, Hip Taps, Knee Taps, Toe Taps, Elbows)
    • Hot Lap # 4
    • Tabata #5: Alternating O/H Press / Triceps Press
    • Hot Lap #5
    • Tabata # 6: 4 Minutes of Mary
    • Hot Laps #6 and 7

    Mumblechatter from the Gloom:

_ Hitch showed up unfashionably late, so much so that he missed the first Tabata set, the first hot lap and half the second Tabata set. The update on his quest for an Implement of Woe is the prices are holding steady on FB Marketplace. Some of the pax suggested a visit to Play It Again Sports on Broad.

_ Faceplant revealed that he once bought a pair of softball cleats at PIAS only to have to return them. He was surprised when the store declined to buy them back at the same price the sold them. An explanation of Retail Economics 101 ensued.

_ A lot of talk about pickleball this morning. Apparently, Hitch and Bodos failed to defend their Church Retreat championship over the weekend, a result that was blamed on Hitch showing up to play in hiking boots. We were all grateful he showed up in running shoes this morning …

_ More Hitch: Apparently, he wants to learn about American football. Can I propose a field trip to Saturday’s 2 p.m. clash between UofR and Towson at Robins Stadium? I’ll pay for Hitch’s ticket if anyone else wants to join, particularly anyone who went to a real football school.

I am surrendering the steering wheel and opening things up to other Qs next Monday; Faceplant has offered to take the first shot; others should feel free to sign up.

  • Starry Morning in Tuckahoe

Now back at the top, we headed over to the parking lot for 11s. Start with HR merkins (1) then run across the lot (but not up the hill) and jump squats (10).

  • Geese Lake

5 brave souls showed up, ready for some running. While Pigskin stayed dedicated to his school loops, the rest of us ventured over to Geese Lake. After a quick warm-up, we began our circuit around the lake. At every loop, we stopped for 20 Derkins, 20 Freddies, and 20 Squats. Popular demand kicked in by the second loop, with HYC adding 20 Dips to the mix.

Four loops around the lake later, we made our way back to the flag for a final round of bus loop laps.

We closed with thoughts and prayers for the health and well-being of Fudd’s sister Mary, Fireman Ed, and Roger-Roger’s wife.

    Great work this morning!

  • No rest for the weary

It was a basic triple check at River Run this morning. Each of us thinking they were the only ones that where going to be there this morning, surprised by the fact that the other showed up. YHC had just run a half marathon on Saturday and Singer has surgery around 8:30 today.

The PAX of 3 decided it would be best if we kept it short and flat, the route started as down to the river up to James River HS, right on Robious. Bullseye suggested a turn into River Downs North and the trail at the back which brought us out to Robious landing again.

All in all we got in 4 miles

Numbers / Names Bullseye took us out

NMS: The topics this morning were distance running and being able to carry on a conversation while training. Kids activities, parents that let their kids drink, RV parks / Halloween and last but not least that catch in the endzone for Washington this weekend. Topic not necessarily in that order.

  • Beast Mode Monday

9 HIMs needed to shake off the cobwebs from a weekend full of Halloween spirit, so YHC came with a beast mode Q for this chillier than normal 70° morning. According to the pumpkins, here’s what went down.

Mosey to end of street and back, circle up by tennis courts and jumped into the warmorama. Cookie let out a battle cry during the stretches and got the crowd going.

    The Thang

Beast in the parking lot, making 6 stops along the back-and-forth. Round 1 – firecrackers, Round 2 – squats, Round 3 – heels to heaven, Round 4 – Copperhead + Imperial Walkers, Round 5 – mountain climbers (double count for Cookie), Round 6 – jump squats.

Up to clubhouse for a Triple Check – runner up the hill, squats, heels to heaven

Indigenous run to end of street, person in back drops at each pumpkin and does 5 squats.

Circle up for a squat-o-rama that turned into a merkin-o-rama that turned into a stretch sess. One eager HIM called for 10 burpees, but with only 8 seconds left on the clock, his dream was cut short.

Announcements – Daddy Daughter Dance, VQ week starts on Friday with Satan’s Hill. Prayer Requests – Dumars Dad and family friend, Crabgrass mother-in-law recovering from surgery.

  • Breaking Bread with BBQ Chicken

My 16 yo 2.0 daughter helped me cook up a chicken BBQ feast with Mac n cheese and salad for the folks at The Daily Planet. She drove, we delivered. It was great to serve. If you haven’t done BB yet – sign up, tag team and do it.
