  • He came out just to watch

Twelve PAX came out to find out what a Joint Q of Horny-Shake would look like. With a long initial mosey here is how it went down:

Tag Team COP: SSH, Imperial Walkers, Merkins, Scorpion Kicks – Correct and incorrect, Flutterkicks.

HD: Mosey to PES bus loop. Split pax and each 6 do Pole Smokers up the way with end guy doing 5 Merkins. All the way up.

Handshake: Sprints and various exercises back & forth. No sneaky name of this, maybe a modified Michigan, call it: Upper Peninsula.

Honeydo: Over to PES track for Triple check: Heels2Heaven, Squats, & run a lap.

Handshake: Driveby past the Tomatoes workout group, to QMS bus loop. Attempt at HSKT but Pax wasn’t buying it. Cover the stench of shame with some Donkey Kicks and Dirty Hookups. Over to the DK wall in back.

Honeydo: 10 Burpees, 2 min of Mary. Back to flag.

NMS: With no Q last night YHC asked Handshake if the Bash Brothers were exclusive or was he allowed to Joint Q with other pax. The idea of a Tag Team COP was birthed. It was kinda awkward when EF showed up as the other Bash Brother to see Handshake share the Q with another guy, especially since EF is normally a Spider Run regular.

Glad to have Limey back up posting in RVA for a few days, he rounded out the PAX to the perfect Dozen count. The ladies were back in the PES lot, their temperature range seems to be very narrow as they take off the summer and winter months. You know it’s good company when the mumblechatter naturally flows from Pregnancy Scares in to Economic Choice theory seamlessly.

  • It’s just one hill, right?

YHC and House Party arrived at River Run with no others and no Q, so YHC had the bright idea to run the old Terrington route. It is just one hill but it’s a long hill that never seams to end. Cross Robious, down Twin Team, through the JRHS lot and BTTF circle the school to make it a 4 mile run.

Numbers / Names YHC took us out

NMS: With the Holiday weekend the numbers where probably small at most AO’s. I’m glad House Party showed up because at least 2 need to share in that kind of suckyness.

  • The Ruckettes

6 intrepid HIMs decided to wake up today and walk in unison. According to the trash man, here’s what took place.

Meet at the stop sign at Camdale Dr & Bellstone Dr at 0530 and was glad to see Cookie took us up on the free parking at Rudy’s house. After a brief huddle to decipher what Rudy was dreaming about, we got to steppin’.

Same route as last week though this time Merman and Blacktop set a tepid pace for the group. Items of discussion today were whale migrations and the impact that marine construction projects have on them, how people like Rudy can rest easy knowing we’re rucking these streets and keeping them safe, and The Righteous Gemstones is not for kids.

The group was elated that we were able to pass the trash man prior to arriving back at the stop sign.

  • A Haunted Precursor

Fourteen able bodied thrill seekers gathered for today’s launch of Spider Run. After routes were posted at a reasonable time yesterday afternoon and no one saw them, YHC quickly breezed through the following:

    The Route

    • West around the lake and through the path to University
    • Up University, cross Ridge, right on Ralston then quick left back on University
    • Resist the urge to veer right on Ziontown and instead head down the driveway past the not-so-haunted house and down through the park
    • Right on Roslyn Hills then left on September
    • 4s: left on Melwood, left on Roslyn Hills
    • 5s: September to Countryside to left on Ruggles, left on Roslyn Hills
    • 6s: September to Countryside, right on Higginbotham, left on Running Cedar, left on Ruggles, right on Charnwood, left on Standish, left on Roslyn Hills
    • Everyone right back through the park and back whence they came

Numbers, names, and YHC took us out.

    Announcements

    • The Next 43 webinar next Tuesday 10/22 5-6 EDT with special guest Richard Reeves. See post on Slack that OBT shared.
    • Breaking Bread spot open for October. See the Q sheet.

    Moleskin

YHC missed the daylight opportunity to throw this route in the mix. Most of the time the PAX prefers to pass the haunted house in the daylight hours. Not so haunted today although the trail continues to provide tripping hazards. Good route in not-oft-used roads west of the park.

6s mumblechatter centered around college essays and how to piss of administrators at the Richmond International Airport. If you see one of our PAX being detained by security for unknown reasons, just walk the other way.

    Splinter out.

  • (New Kent) Having what with a camel?

I thought it was gonna be a solo ruck this morning cause Beaver is DR for work. Then at 5:29 the greatest prospector of the north came rolling in! Shortly after him Tollbooth made an appearance for his first voluntary ruck.

Knocked out a 3.1 ruck at about a 3.5 mph pace! A lot of chatter with these guys. You never know what’s gonna be brought up. We started talking about Kiefer’s milk and somehow ended up talking about sexual relations with a camel. Yukon has got some stories to tell.

Tollbooth took us out! Be grateful for every day!

    OUT!!!

    Spreadsheets From the Gloom:

    • Welcome back to returning champs BT and Oyster and greetings to SCCC FNGs ChooChoo and Faceplant.
    • Choo and Faceplant had spent the weekend family camping at state parks. Apparently, FP tows a vintage 1966 tent-trailer behind his Rivian, which no doubt gets him a lot of funny looks on the highway.
    • Both bemoaned how hard it’s become to get state parks reservations since the pandemic; apparently Choo does his whole year’s worth of shopping for camping reservations on 12:01 am on Black Friday. While people are brawling in the aisles at Wal-Mart over flat screen TVs, he’s happily clicking away, dreaming of a year of idyllic family camping.
    • I will Q weeks 3 and 4, then look to turn the format over to others to unleash their creativity on the pax.
    • Just a reminder to pre-register for the 10/22 F3 Nation-wide webinar with Richard Reeves, author of “Of Boys and Men.” He’ll tell us about the challenges facing today’s generation of boys and young men and we’ll discuss what F3 can do to be ready to meet this generation on its way to being “The Next 43.” We’ll be live on Zoom from 5-6 pm ET and there will be a chance to submit questions for some Q&A. Please register your intention to attend here.

  • Who’s Johnny Utah?

11 grown-boys started their Columbus Day off at The Alamo! YHC was pumped to mix in some exercises to throw shade at that football team from Columbus but Nancy Lopez wasn’t in attendance so it wouldn’t have been as fun. Carry on!

WARMARAMA – Moseyed over to the other side of the horseshoe for some stretching. Gave the “push yourself, don’t hurt yourself” disclaimer and got into it. SSH’s, DMH, Imp Walkers, Ukrainian Soldiers, LBC’s, Merkins, Wilson’s Wife and Fudd’s Wife. Moseyed through the tunnel to the far side of the road.

COP #1: Happy Indigenous Peoples’ Day! Indigenous Run for about 1/2 mile to the playground.

COP #2: (2) members of the PAX completed pullups on the monkey bars while the rest of the PAX performed a called exercise.

    • Round 1: (5) Pullups/Arm Circles
    • Round 2: (5) Pullups/Plank
    • Round 3: (5) Pullups/Squats

COP #3: Indigenous Run 1/2 mile back to The Clubhouse.

COP #4: “Bank” Circuit. The PAX circled up to contribute reps towards the goal of QTY (1,492) as that’s when Columbus sailed the ocean blue. Happy Columbus Day! (2) PAX members at a time took a mosey to stay fresh while reps were performed.

    • Round 1: (1,492) Merkins
    • Round 2: (1,492) LBC’s
    • Round 3: (1,492) Squats

COP #5: Ring of fire. Plank and called exercises.

    ANNOUNCEMENTS

    • Daddy Daughter Dance! Saturday, 11/2 from 7-9

    PRAYERS/WINS

    • WIN – Rudy, Warby and Cookie have signed up to be WATCH D.O.G.S at Old Hundred Elementary School. Excited/honored to have the chance to bring some of that F3 “Male Community Leadership” to the school.
  • Santa Isn’t Real. Now, Stop Being So Emotional.

6 of Tuckahoe’s finest dominated the morning on the latest edition of The Hoedown. Conditions remained 70 and sunny. According to a balling 3 year old girl and distraught 12 year old boy, the following might have happened.

Mosey to the newly completed parking lot palace at 3rd Church.

4 Principles. The 5th one is a surprise for later.

COP – a relatively random set of exercises and stretches, unplanned, yet seemingly organized.

We started, as we often do, with Side Straddle Hops. Then, Dead Man Hang, Fudd’s Wife, Wilson’s Wife (Recently, a burgeoning movement to become just “Rachel”), Pigeon Right, Pigeon Left, More Pigeon Right, Wait for Bodo’s, Hand Release Merkins, Inverted Scorpion Kicks, Regular Scorpion Kicks, Gas Pumps, and Flutter Kicks.

Mosey along the newly widened walkway (very nice!) to the back of the church for 11’s, but a different kind of elevens.

Bear crawl to the first parking space, do 1 burpee, lunge back to the starting point.
Next round, bear crawl to the second space, 2 burpees, and lunge back.
Escalate until reaching the 6th parking space and 6 burpees.
Then, a short mosey (or, mossy, as you will) bro-code style around the parking lot.
Continue escalating to 7, 8, 9, 10, and then 11 parking spaces, burpees, etc.

At the end, couple of minutes of Mary (flutter kicks, Frederick Mercuries, and hello dolly). Then, 10 Carolina Dry Docks.

    Mosey BTTVSF.

Numbers, names, and YHC took us out with a short prayer for Fudd’s sister in silen – what’s that Bodo’s?, her name?, yes, Mary – ok, anyone else? Let’s start again, one moment of prayer for Mary in silen – what’s that Bodo’s? What type of cancer? Now, I’m not 100% sure, but I think she has breast cancer that has spread – ok, now everyone, together, please, just one short moment of – wait for it – prayer in silence for Mary.

    Announcements:

The Bridge, October 26. TYA has the Q. “I was lonely, and you visited me.” Remember their motto, “if there was a way in, there is a way out.”

7 of the 8 micro-regions have a leader for The Bridge.

    NMS:

Today was very emotional for everyone. Bodo’s, Garbage Plate’s daughter, Handshake’s son Tripp, UpChucks’ cousin’s son Benjamin James. Grant them all a sense of humor. Take from them any spirit for retribution.

    UpChuck spits the bit.

  • Eight Stirrups Deep

Eight was enough this morning at the Deep. We ventured north to Green Gate and according to the lady in the mural, we did the following:

Moseyed to the front of the first office building and circled up at the circle for some warmups of SSH, DQ, UW, Helicopters, arm circles, merkins and lbcs.

Partnered up in the well lit parking lot for a mini-Dora of 50 merkins, 100 squats and 150 WWII. We then celebrated Indigenous Peoples Day with a run weaving around the parking lot until we caught up with Gomer at the unlit Stranges lot.

We then did a Strange parking lot routine of bear crawling 2 spaces and then 5 merkins and repeated 5-6 times.
Now find a new partner to mix running to the front entrance and back with misc exercises to help us focus on the stars and this beautiful morning: heals to heaven, American hammers, reverse crunches, lbcs and the holding your feet 6 inches (3x Attila’s junk) off the ground.
We then did another tribute to Indigenous People with a run to the end of the lot with the man in the back doing 2 burpees before catching up. That did not work so well as we got to the end and three of us had to do burpees to catch up.

Crossing the street we took a visit to the Women’s Center. We started with the low stirrups and did Hello Dollies in cadence and then got into the high stirrups with Rosalitas in cadence. After Gomer shouted “what are you putting up there!”, we got up, faced the road and did 20 Monkey Humpers OYO. Probably best to avoid this lot for a couple weeks…

We headed back to the school and did 11s on the hill (aka the Hairy Nuckol) of HRMs and Heals to Heaven. Went a minute over but got a nice tour in and never lost Gomer.

Prayers for Fudd’s sister and family and for Fireman Ed.

    Thanks for letting me lead.

And I’ve made up my mind
I ain’t wasting no more time
