  • The Great Pig Race of Life

12 Soggy Bottom Boys escaped from the chain gang of sweet slumber and set out in search of treasure. Set to the sounds of one of the greatest soundtracks ever did sung.

Big Rock Candy Mountain warmarama SSHs, rapid fire DQs, squats, cherry pickers, Imperial walkers, mirkins, LBCs, etc etc.

Men of Constant sorrow triple check, timer runs and the others do flutterkicks and squats.

Down to the river to pray with another triple check, timer bear crawls up the ramp and the others do plank jacks and WW2s until the sirens turned Senor Frog into a horny toad.

Bodos had a great story about the Chesterfield County Fair and an illusionist who made a girl named Dixie disappear. There was also a pig race involved. It was at this point that the Coen Brothers themed Q went off the rails.

It was decided to do A Great Pig Relay Race in honor of the new parking lot arrows. Teams of 3 bear crawled around the arrows while oinking with ferocity. A teacher pulled into the parking lot and parked right in the middle of the entire spectacle. And still, the race went on. A last minute push by Donald Rumproast to defeat Hilary Bacon in a repeat of the the 2016 Virginia state fair. YHC is clearly high on the hog.

Winning team only had to do clockwork mirkins while the others did clockwork burpees until we gave up. A little boat canoe to wrap it up.

Thanks for indulging YHC – good times were had and lots of laughs rang out. Gratitude to be out there with each other, working hard. The treasure was found – it was the good times we had along the way. Remember to keep on the sunny side of life.

  • F3RVA Pickleball Tournament

29 of the best Pickleball players in RVA gathered for the 1st F3 RVA Pickleball Tournament.

If memory serves correctly: Hitchhiker, EF Hutton, Bleeder, Flatline and YHC (who else am i missing?) bounced the idea around after the last convergence. Hitchhiker took the lead and turned Batteau in the ultimate Pickleball Training facility for the next several weeks. A tournament was scheduled and the training began. Look at us now!!

Thanks to Hitchhiker, Splinter and especially Tidwell for making the day go smoothly. Well done!

On an unforgettable August 26, 2023, the pickleball courts transformed into a bustling arena of athleticism, sportsmanship, and excitement. With 14 teams in the spotlight, the double elimination format promised a day filled with intense battles and memorable moments.

Among these contenders, Team Tapering stood out like stars in the night sky. Their synchronicity and unwavering unity on the court left spectators in awe. The precision of their shots and the brilliance of their strategies were undeniable. As they surged through the tournament, they etched their names in the winner’s circle as the well-deserved 1st place champions, setting a bar of excellence for all to aspire to.

However, the path to victory was not without its twists. Enter Team Breakn’ Ankles, the masters of agility and creativity. Their journey was marked by daring moves and unexpected victories, solidifying their position as fierce competitors. Though they narrowly missed the top spot, their exceptional display of skill earned them the 2nd place honor, capturing the admiration of all who witnessed their journey.

Amidst the fray, Team Dance Shoes emerged as the ultimate underdogs. Their unrelenting spirit and unexpected triumph over Team Sinners and Saints showcased the unpredictable nature of sports, a reminder that any team can rise to the occasion and rewrite the narrative.

In an early showdown, Team Brainiac Bros took on Team RepNMoon in a battle of wits and strategy, with the latter emerging victorious due to their meticulous teamwork. Team Jazzercise’s energetic maneuvers propelled them to victory against Team Footlegs, embodying their dedication to precision and fitness.

In another clash, Team Men of Gold flexed their prowess, securing a commanding victory against Team Marios and setting an early tone for their tournament journey. Meanwhile, Team ShakeNBake employed calculated tactics to triumph over Team Baked Hams, demonstrating their astute grasp of the game’s intricacies.

Adding a unique flavor to the tournament was Team Ace Warmups, embodying passion and sportsmanship in every move. While their journey might not have led them to the final rounds, their unwavering dedication served as an inspiration to all who watched.

Last but not least, Team Last Minute brought a touch of anticipation. Though they graced the courts with a sense of urgency, their sportsmanship and determination left a lasting impact. While their journey ended for now, their name spoke of a hopeful return, echoing the sentiment that the love for the game endures.

As the sun set on this remarkable day, the echoes of cheers and the memory of exceptional plays lingered. The pickleball tournament of August 26, 2023, was a testament to the power of sports to unite, inspire, and bring out the best in all participants—no matter the outcome.

Congrats: Team Tapering: Lockjaw and DaVinci
2nd Place: Breakn’ Ankles: Splinter and Primetime

  • Annual Birthday Breaking Bread

For the last few years, YHC has decided to give back during his birthday week (46th birthday was on the 22nd, btw!) This year, 8 fine people were served Minced Pork BBQ sandwiches, cole slaw, hot mac-n-cheese, pototoe salad, cupcakes and tea. All were most appreciative. One resident asked for seconds but was shutdown by the lady in charge because of his blood sugar levels! He wasn’t too happy.

This is one one my family’s favorite things to do and one of F3RVA’s most important.

    BE THE LIGHT!!

Tomorrow, EF Hutton has the honors. F3RVA is filling them up this weekend.

Sign up! There are plenty of spots left in 2023.

TClaps to our repeat FNG offenders from yesterday’s beatdown – hope ya’ll can find an AO near your home towns to keep the momentum going! Also great to host so many veteran PAX from a ton of different regions all over the Southeastern US. There were many an appreciative comment in the level of pain train challenges served. What an AWESOME privilege to enjoy F3 brotherhood among men who also share a deep and transparent affection for Jesus. Thank you Mouthpiece for leading us out in that powerful prayer. Look forward to building even greater numbers at the retreat next year!!! Yours, DTH

  • Mudslide’s Park of Madness

Today an even 12 came out for the “anti pickelball” workout. There should be a small warning: Mudslide’s workouts may cause pain, parts of the body to be sore and hurt for a while. Train at your own risk. There are days where I feel good, others not but each time come out and try the best no matter what(I would hate for you to leave and regret not giving it all effort). Here’s the breakdown:

Started off with WARMARAMMA(SSHs, Imperial Walkers, Ukrainian Soldiers, Helicopters, Slow Merkins(3 seconds down), LBCs, a little pancake stretch) then time to take off for the main part. The first part it was a Dora but a way that it became a mega dora. 100 Merkins(done 4 different ways) after 25, you ran around the curb and back, 200 ab exercises(4 different ways) 4 rounds of 50 and finally for the legs(300) 4 rounds of 75 done differently each time.

After that and everyone was feeling it, a little breather(right) to the concession area for a triple check(Wall Sits, Tricep Dips, and Bear Crawls up the hill. After that we were sitting at about 12-15 minutes left, to the second court for 11s(it was crab kicks, and Mike Tyson Merkins) the kicker with that each time you hit mid court(1 burpee) once everyone hit about half way(took the burpee out). I think at the end, it was taking everyone out. Did we finish and it was everyone(yes). Finally, back to the flag, Names, Announcements and prayer lead by YHC to close out

Have a good weekend, see you next time!!

  • Saturday morning Broga

Yes…there’s another offering of Broga via F3(over at Rock and Roll on Saturdays but if a convergence or something else came up and we needed a small session, I can come through). A group of 4 came out, we hit the basketball courts and worked everything from head to toe. The humidity helped things out where the muscles, joints, etc were able to get warmed up a little quicker.

The idea each time is to work the body to where as we train, it’s not getting hurt. In fact helping in to heal plus loosen and allow us to be more mobile. A good round of swan dives, half way ups, push-ups(slow 3 seconds down, 3 back up) up and down dogs, runners lunge etc. At the end, there’s the extended pigeon/figure 4 holds(figure 4 is the alternative to pigeon). After that a little back and extended reach stretch then we were done(get ready for the main workout)

  • Our Savior!

Six warriors descended upon the Atlee High School parking lot to take on a beautiful mid-summer morning. Opus and Speakeasy got an early start with a run; Opus shifted to join the bootcamp. Here’s what happened at the beatdown.

Mosey to grassy area in front of the high school for COP: various shoulder exercises; imperial walkers; Don Quixote’s; tempo squats; merkins

Mosey to basketball courts for modified Dora. Exercises were hanging knee raises x 50, merkins x 50, and squats x 50. Timer bear-crawled to half-court with Bernie Sanders back.

Mosey to practice field. Partner relay across the field and back. Exercises were log roll x 10, army crawl x 10, bear crawl x 10.

Mosey around bus loop for exercise stops including box jumps x 50, Carolina dry docks x 50, and dips x 50.

Mosey to front of Atlee High School for some ab work (American hammers x 15, Rosalina’s x 10, APDs x 10). Then to the wall for 50 donkey kicks, followed by shoulder mobilization wall hang (2 minutes) and couch stretch (2 minutes each leg).

Back to virtual flag for five minutes of stretching.

COT, BOM, YHC took us out.

Welcome to Mohawk. He is the reason for this post’s title, as he crushed the exercises and gave us all relief by being the first to finish most exercises (except for donkey kicks, which Opus dominated, of course). YHC loves Saturday mornings at Dapile and is grateful for a fabulous group of men! We leave better than when we came.

  • Nope.. don’t know him either

Another month down which means last Friday Bro-code route. Good crew coalesced on a humid August morning to knock out 4 miles at a conventional pace and turn backs at the corners for the 6.

Conversation ranged to 1st week of school to college drop offs to names of guys in the MLB.

Conclusion… there are no current house hold MLB plays right now and Hutton named off a bunch of them. We didn’t know any of them.

way to many announcements to remember. Gomer just kept tossing more and more of them so talk to him about sit and sip, convergence help, Crucible gathering, at 9am 5k somewhere and I think a cook out in SOJ??

Anyway… see ya in the Gloom!

YHC is off to VMI to drop off a 1st for his last semester.
