  • LIFO only

A lone LIFO Davillian made sure the AO was still secured even in the rain for the Thursday Run edition.

With be close to 10 mins late, YHC decided to cut the run in half with a short loop around Rutland, Atlee Library, and finish with the Bojangles loop for 2.15 miles

Rain was light until the end.

    Spit On That

  • Piss

We had a guest from F3 Blueridge, Inbox, and we took him on a tour of Short Pump Park. Pigskin stayed behind and worked his butt off while circling the school.

After a 3/4 mile run and a short warm-up, we did a modified Cooper. Three exercises in a row, then a run around the path (about 150 meters) then repeat. Start with ten reps of each exercise, then 9, then 8, etc. The three exercises were Burpees, Squats and Merkins. Gets the heart rate up good for twenty minutes.

We then did a triple check with WWI, WWII and a timer running around the pavilion.

Then we smelled the dog urine. I preferred the fruit loops smell from Spider run.

Then we ran a mile+ back to the flag.

Total of 3.1 miles, a good work out and piss. You’re welcome.

Lively bunch this AM as is usual for First Watch. Great to have Machismo out for his 1 year anniversary and Jelly (temporarily renamed to Billy Ray) after an 8 year hiatus.

Sorry (not sorry) for all the running. You all know YHC enjoys cardio.

    Splinter out.

  • No track this week

With the purity of OC’s cadence never in question, the runners ditched the track this week for some miles through Salisbury.

530 arrived with three boot campers and five runners present. Boberry and Doublemint started a ruck at 5 and were expected back for the start. Alas, deep conversation must have ensued b/c neither were anywhere to be found at 530. So five started off on a five mile run that included hills and some tempo (thanks to Rosie).

BTTF with one minute to spare. Bootcampers joined us. OC led COT and took us out.

Boberry’s car was still in the parking lot when runners and bootcampers converged, but he was still nowhere to be found. Sometime after COT, Boberry finally joined us. After rucking, he apparently took off after the runners on his own Salisbury route. Nice work Bo!

Prayers for OC’s mom who was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Prognosis looks good.

Announcements: Diamond Billiard’s happy hour second Friday of every month, Oyster pays for SOJ lunch on the 4th Thursday of every month (March will be Wong’s tacos)

    Solid run today fellas!

  • No Gumbo or Old Glory

10, no 11, wait, make it 12 early risers arrived at NoToll in anticipation of a Gumbo Q and high probablility of Old Glory but got a substitute instead. The Q was open to suggestions all morning long, main accommodation – stay dry. At 0530 slide over to the bball courts for a warm-up with some random numbers thrown in. Again, the numbers mean nothing, until they do. Now 12 – that’s a magic number when it comes to the number of PAX – partners, triple check, Quad-check, so many options.

We stayed on the bball courts all morning with a variation of suicides/lines – Doracide, Burpeecide, Triple Check, Beasticide. A mini Old Glory thrown in the middle of everything. Side note – even 10 minutes of a mini Old Glory on the bball courts would be brutal. Close out with some Mary

Are GP doctors really needed? Getting moms involved in the conversation, ok? The party did not stop with House Party and Tea Party both on board.

SOJ info and new dates coming soon. See Slack

DTH final Qs before his Mission Trip – Forge and RockNRoll

  • Don’t let me forget my phone

An even 8 of SOJ’s finest came out to dust off the kettlebells this AM (Some were kettle bells and some were nerf bells?). According to the Maintenance crews here is what went down.

COP: 20 each SSH’s, Merkins, LBC’s; 10 each: Imperial walkers, Ukrainian soldiers, Helicopters, Flutters, Scissors, DQ’s, Lap around school.

30 second hold 30 second rest. Overhead, Front lat, Curl 3 way, Goblet squat, Upper row, Etc. All told spent 20 minutes….at which time I became tired of my phone turning off and put it on my windshield. I asked PAX to remind me before leaving.

Quadruple check with Runner to back of lot. WWII’s with kettle, Overhead press, Bench press with kettle. Completed 3 rounds. 3 minutes of Mary to close ring of fire style.

Prayers for Bulllseyes Dad and Vagabonds friend. Health for both.

YHC took us out in prayer.

And yes arrived home to realize “Shoot where is my phone! “. Luckily it was safely in crevice between hood and windshield.

  • No Hairy Monster Sighting

Despite Handshake’s desire to make this a male stripper led workout, a noble PAX assembled for full-body beat-down.  Here is how it went down:

CUSAP coming up at Curahee on May 6th.  Talk to Gypsy.  It is co-ed. It is a CUSAP.

Great work by the PAX today.  Thanks for putting up with YHC’s slower pace.  Handshake started the workout with discussing potential male stripper names, completely on character. We went down the path of potential questionable stripper moves, with 5:30 am striking at just the right time. Apologies to Handshake that he did not get lay witness to the hairy monster as he hoped.  Maybe you can live your dreams on another day.

Prayers up for Gypsy’s cousins in NICU.  God is good all of the time!

  • Bermuda Triangle

We were an Indigenous PAX this morning in the hallowed grounds of the Bermuda Triangle. Using the short fence and the poles of the entrance way. I’m sure the PAX is tired of being on the ground as that’s where the majority of our time was spent this morning. Here’s what the Indigenous PAX was doing.

    Warmup

    SSH X15 IC

    IW X10 IC

    DON QUYOTES X10 IC

    LBCs x10 IC

    MERKINS X8 IC

    1 burpee

Moseyed over to the entrance where the short fence starts and started a long stretch of Indigenous exercises

The PAX would do chair dips on the short fence as the trailer bear crawls to the front

Doozy was doing walking lunges in modification

Next would be incline merkins as the trailer would crab walk to the front

As we approached the end of the (long) short fence, I thought about moving the PAX to the football field but decided to keep it going. Switched to squats and kept the crab walks.

Once we reached the end of the short fence we had the poles to deal with

Chaplain’s Indigenous polesmokers (a staple of the Bermuda Triangle according to Shank) with the trailer doing walking lunges. About halfway we switched to Boo Ya Merkins using the poles. Until we FINALLY reached the end of the Indigenous portion of the morning.

Next we moved a short distance to a small hill. Take a seat in the middle of the hill and do

American Hammers x5 double count at each hour around the imaginary clock ( total of 60

Repeat with x5 LBCs at each hour

Mosey back to the flag for some stretching, prayer requests, and announcements

Great to see everyone out this morning, pushing and modifying as needed. Doozy and Florence continue to impress by posting despite injuries.

  • Say Hello to My Little Trails

The running Pax took a generally northwesterly route paralleling Atlee Station Road up to Kings Charter Road. After taking the connection to Honey Meadows, the PAX broke into smaller groups to limit or increase their mileage. The Pax seemed to enjoy the new route, which incorporated seven separate (paved) trail segments along with the usual neighborhood running. YHC, Mr. Holland, and Opus hit about 4.7 miles, and Corned Beef and Bulkhead covered just over 4. No Idea and Yardsale rucked for about 4.5. YHC had jogged an additional 1.15 miles prior to the start. Numbers, names, and Opus managed to clear the cougars from his brain to take us out.

Happy hour is planned at a new spot, Piggy’s Deli and Pub, Thursday night this week. I believe the agreed-upon time was 6:00, but workouts are too early for those details to be reliable. Confirm with Corned Beef before showing up then if you are interested.
