  • Welcome to the Tea Party

    Warmerama:

Aptly 11 Pax including one long bearded FNG joined for a Machismo number 11 inspired bro fest. It went a little something like this; SSH of varying cadence, Abe Vigoda, Don Quixote, American Hammers, Imperials Walkers.

11s between toll gates Dips, Incline Merkins.

Eye of the the Hurricane (thanks Mister Rodgers) 5-burpee center on the pavilion with 50 SSH, 50 Air Presses, 50 2-Count revenge of the imperial walkers, 50 American Hammers.

11s again from midfield where some Lunging Lt. Dans made it back to the pavilion for Merkins (yes Ricky Tea Party those are push-ups).

A short bear crawl march ensued with a burpee cherry back towards the flag. Crab Walk, Walk Carb and we were out with a minute of Merkin Murder.

Announcements: Oysters buying lunch at Brick House this Thursday. Also Diamond Billiards on Friday Rosie leading the charge.

Welcome to the party gentlemen. YHC got a good roll of sweat going to wash away the lidocaine patch. It was all worth it to welcome a new Pax member with 4 girls, his own business, and long beard. Get those pinkies high and look out for Tea Party. The Pax also righted a porta-john this morning so feel free to call him by his initials TP. Just don’t think his name was inspired by some revolutionary northerners, it all starts with sponge cakes gentlemen. We are better together in cadence or not.

NMMS : Grateful for Big Rig’s encouragement and presence this morning as YHC is still taking it easy due to hip impingement. Got an Orthopedist appointment this Wednesday morning. Not in an immense amount of pain. It’s just dull, consistent pain and tightness so trying to make sure I don’t aggravate it more and make it worse. It’s unsettling more than anything when you’re dealing with a skeletal issue related to hips or spine. But there are still ways to modify and stay active.

  • Back at it at Batteau!

  • Friday Trail Run (for 8 feet)

Once again, YHC busted out the ol’ Windsor Farms to Hillcrest route…and I’m pretty sure, once again, I got one direction wrong out of the multiple twists and turns. I was very disappointed Bodos wasn’t there to not run the route explained…but then again, I got a direction wrong, so maybe it was for the best.

I do think one of the reasons for the confusion is that as a former left handed pitcher, I truly don’t know my left from my right. I struggle with it constantly. Probably somewhat hazerdous when giving directions. Next time, I’ll just say “reverse Carrilon”.

    Here it is…

Take Wilmetta to Kingscrest to Malvern. Go right on Malvern into The Farm. Take a left at the dead end in the Farm and run around the Millenium Falcon loop. Bypass your first Dover left, but take your second. From there, cross Locke Lane and get on Pocohontas by going off road for about 8 feet…between two big wood poles who were obviously placed there for such a run.

4s–Y’all don’t actually get on Pocohontas, you take Locke all the way to Patterson and then east on Patterson to Commonwealth…it’s about 4.2

5’s and 6’s–Pocahontas down to Hillcrest.

5’s–Take one lap all the way around Hillcrest and get out of the neighborhood, across Cary to Oak and Oak to Patterson. Patterson all the way to Commonwealth. It’s about 5.2

6s–Take two laps on Hillcrest and come up on Charmain…Charmain turns into West Moreland. Hairpin to go South on Locke then left on Dover….get yourself to Mary Munford as quickly as you can from there.

Gents, on Friday the Rams play UofR at the Siegel Center. It’s been previously noted how I like to circle the arena the Rams are playing in on gameday. If anyone wants to do that Friday when the Rams play UofR…it’s a 7.2 mile jaunt from Munford to Siegel…circle Siegel and come back…all on Monument. (you can head north to Monument from Grove on any streets, really…I’m heading north on Malvern, then coming back on Commonwealth.

  • No Presidents For You

A perfectly divisible six converged on President’s Day. With some regulars no doubt heading to the Batteau revival, the six faithful Hoedowners forged onward. Here’s what happened:

COP in the first Third Church lot: Yoga stretches // Imperial Walkers // Ukrainian Soldiers // APDs // LBCs // Hand release Merkins // Pickle Pounders // SSHs. Mosey to middle church lot

Triple Check #1: P1: Squat Thrusters with Coupon // P2: American Hammers // P3: Run the lot

Coupon work: Curls // Kettle Bell Swings // Bench Press. ICx20, 3 rounds. Mosey back to the school

Elevens: Bearcrawl up the Concrete slope. Merkins and WW2s.

Triple Check #2 at the Drop off loop. P1: Dirty Hookups on the wall // P2: Burpees // p3: Run the loop

COP: Flutter Kicks // LBCs // Oblique LBCs // Freddy Mercuries

Numberama, Namerama, YHC took us out

NMS: The legend of YHC’s destructiveness continued as a coupon spontaneously exploded apparently with the sheer power of the hand grip. Great morning, great temp, great to be with you guys to start the week. SYITG

  • Should I sleep in for President’s Day? Is that even an option? Absolutely not!

Three men, 2 of them have the day off because Henrico County closed it schools for Presidents Day, started the day off right by finding their way to Atlee High School for beatdown that likely went like this.

    The Thang

Median Exercises – Run to median, do exercise, run back to start, then run to next one and do increasing exercises. Run back then to 3rd.

    • Round 1 – Merkins – 5, 10, 20
    • Round 2 – Squats – 5, 10, 20
    • Round 3 – Burpees – 2, 4, 8

    NMS

YHC posted this morning expecting another person to lead, but in his absence, YHC took the Q. This was kinda a BroCode beatdown as we stayed together the entire time. It was interesting that 3 posted and 2 (Mr. Holland and YHC) both had the day off.

Announcements – Q slots are mostly filled this week in DaVille. YHC took DaPile. On Saturday (3/4/23) DaVille post at Dogpile for the 1st Saturday of the month.

    Outstanding job today everybody!

    Gotta Run!

  • Don’t Laugh

9 studs galloped through the latest version of Sunday Funday. Conditions remained 70 and sunny. According to the 20-something lady with her dog who has seen us 100s of times and still does not say hello, the following might have happened:

Bridge to Buttermilk to Belle Isle to North Bank. 7 miles. Saab did roads…10 miles? Kabob did something that apparently involved flying. Well done, gentlemen.

Numbers, names, and Shakedown took us out.

    NMS:

Sunday Funday continues to thrive…and grow. Lots of dudes prepping for up-coming races, especially the Bear Creek 10 miler.

Nice to have Turbo out there today (as in a tax accountant).

Somehow ETs survives as a business. But, it’s a great facility. Good times.

  • Ten Minutes of Whatever Happened

Eleven of the faithful posted at Grid Iron on a chilly February morning, YHC having filled the minds and hearts of the faithful with promises of an FNG. The FNG was a no-show, but we had work to do. The Q started off by calling merkins but doing side straddle hops just to see who would brought the right level of obeisance to the workout. We then moved on to the actual merkins, followed by hillbillies, LBCs, and some other things.

The PAX was led to grassy knoll behind the schoolhouse, and YHC kicked off “ten minutes of whatever” with ten minutes of with burpees.

The PAX was led to the pull up bars for what was supposed to be ten minutes of jerkins/pull ups (alternating). YHC ended that workout early on account of the painful combination of damp hands from the burpees and sub-freezing metal bars. Probably should have led with that …

The PAX was led to the astro turf fields at Striker Park for ten minutes of field sprints.

The PAX was led to the front corner of the astro turf field for ten minutes of LBCs/reverse crunches (alternating).

The PAX was led to the back side of the astro turf field for a classic Jack Web cycle, but we took it to 12. There was moaning and the gnashing of teeth.

The PAX then bear crawled to mid-field and moseyed by to the SF for a few rounds of var. planks led by Mr. Bucket.

There was some lewd and lascivious commentary along the way, but I’ll leave that to the comments.
