  • On the Books

Eight guys plotted a route off the books until YHC foiled that plan via early morning Q sheet grab.  Here’s where YHC made them go:

    The Route

    • L on Pump
    • L on Falconbridge
    • L on Raintree
    • R on Ridgefield
    • L on Cox
    • L on Brookmont (zig zag at end to Pump)
    • R on Pump (L on Pump and circle Godwin for shorter 4ish mile route)
    • L on John Rolfe
    • L on Glen Eagles
    • L on Old Prescott back to the Flag

    Numberama, Nameorama, COT

    MOLESKIN

Unaware that Roger Roger had a plan, YHC literally took the Q and ran with it.  Get it?  Lol, dad joke unlocked.  Great to see familiar faces though some at unfamiliar paces.  Hmmm, YHC is a poet and didn’t know it.  Anyway, come back next Friday to see if RR’s plan is now on the books.

    ANNOUNCEMENTS

    • West End lunch 2nd F – next week – details to follow
    • Prayers for continued healing of several guys
  • Search for the Beast of Twin Team Part 3

5 History majors made their way to the 70 degree and sunny Gloom of Twin Team to hear more about the legend of the Beast of Twin Team.

Mosey to the bottom of the hill for COP

DQ’s, Deadman Hang, Helicopters, Imperial Walkers, WWII

Mosey to the top of TT placing 4 glow sticks out along the way

After a brief explanation of what was about to happen and a discussion on who really would have been the first visitors to this area (Pioneers or Huguenots)

    The story started:

While out on patrol and looking for the beast the PAX had to get under and around the brush that would have been common to the area at the time kind of like Crab Cakes (X6 at each stop) turn around at the 4th and repeto. Still fitting through the brush they had to slide on their backs somewhat like an LBC. Once they got through that something swiped at their feet and they had to jump as if they where doing JumpSquats. The jumping knocked them down so they had move forward kind of like knee raises. Once they reached the top of the hill this time they found that it was getting late and the beast was nowhere in sight, so they headed back to base. Along the way they stopped to pick up their markers, the first marker had gotten somewhat moved and they had to do something like a burpee to retrieve it. At the second marker their feet were getting stuck so they ran without moving like a Ball Dipper. At the third marker they had to rest but their legs where still moving kind of like Hello Dollies and at the fourth marker they heard a noise that scared them and they all out sprinted for about 100 yards +/- but moseyed the rest of the way back.

    6 Burpees at THE END

Numbers / Names YHC took us out

    NMS:

Posey has been up Twin Team before but never multiple times, he is not a fan! YHC likes this workout or the Sisyphus (which I hope will return soon Mr. Holland) but 1,000% humidity might not be the time for it.

Lots of guys on IR praying for healing, safe travels to Florence and prayers for families (marriages)

  • Is that made up? That sounds made up.

“Is That Made Up? It Sounds Made Up.” National Lampoon’s Vacation – You

The joggers making laps around Godwin encouraged the PAX through a beatdown that went something like this:

COP: SSHs, IWs, DQs, Merkins, Hello Dollies, Reverse Crunches, Imperial Squat Walkers IC

Mosey to door number 13. 13 Curls and 1 Squat Thruster.

Mosey to door number 12. 12 Tricep Extensions and 2 Squat Thrusters.

Continue around the building, conducting exercises based on the door number followed by Squat Thrusters. The PAX made it to door number 1, then 23, 22, …, 18 before time ran out. 19.5 rounds, so up to 18 Squat Thrusters (?). Towards the end, we sprinkled a lap around the bus loop, Arm Circles, Helicopters, etc.

    COT

Announcements: New AO The Crucible in Manchester at Blackwell Elementary this Saturday at 7:30am. See Slack for more details.

NMS: This beatdown was inspired by White Deer inspired by Doozy to take a tour of the doors. YHC lost count, but is fairly certain that there are 23. YHC can confirm that the dude walking the wrong way down Pump is miraculously still alive. Strong work by the PAX today. It was great to be back in the fold after vacation last week.

  • NewAss Glory!

Six brave souls posted to the Forge for our second attempt at the quarterly New Glory. We were dripping with humidity before even getting started, but with the skull and shovel banners planted, the PAX went to work!

    The THANG:

    WARMERAMA:

    • Circle up at the Flag
    • Welcome & Disclaimer
    • Review of the “New Glory” circuit, and complete a tour mosey around the circuit highlighting each of the 14 COP’s

    !!! NEW GLORY !!!

    • The Forge quarterly fitness litmus test, to provide PAX the opportunity to monitor their individual physical progress
    • Timeframe: 30 minutes
    • Style: BEST form possible, You vs YOU!
    • THE CIRCUIT:
    • Starting point at the Shovel Flag
    • #1:  Complete x10 Burpees at the flag
    • #2-5:  Run down S.Coleman Rd to the Handicap Ramp, stopping at each light pole (x4 poles total on the right side) to complete x5 Hand-release Merkins
    • #6:  Bear Crawl halfway up the Ramp
    • #7:  Lunge walk to the end gate
    • #8:  Complete x20 Jerkins on the Rails
    • Run up Mount Chaplain, stopping at each new paved landing to complete assigned exercise…
    • #9 (Level 1):  x5 Burpees
    • #10 (Level 2): x10 Ball Dippers (2-ct)
    • #11 (Level 3): x15 Heels-2-Heaven
    • #12 (Level 4): x20 Squats
    • #13 (Level 5:) x25 Mtn Climbers (2-ct)
    • #14:  At the top of Mt Chaplain, complete x30 WWII’s, then run BTTF to begin next Circuit
    • THE GOAL: Complete as many circuit rounds as physically possible with good form until time is called. If you cheat or cut corners you are only hurting yourself and your baseline. If you take all 30 minutes to complete a single circuit, that will be the baseline you will work towards crushing next time.

NEW GLORY completion points have been posted on the F3RVA Challenge Spreadsheet, where PAX can review progress over the years! Link HERE:  https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-L8e9W24ygnU0suaGyKxzi1PgPqY1CBd57hLrKTZI-g/edit?usp=sharing

    COT:

    • Counterama # 6
    • Namerama
    • Announcerama (see Below)
    • YHC took the PAX out in Prayer

NMS:  Sooooo, THAT doesn’t get any easier, especially with 9000% humidity. YHC was also missing the Hardywood rabbit to chase. Strong effort from all the PAX, and extra proud of Snuff for being the only other man to come back for seconds – excuses or silence abounded among those others who posted for the inaugural New Glory in April but who were conveniently indisposed today. Maybe we’ll see some of you guys come out for #3 in cool Autumn temps. Also gonna give a shout out to Splinter crossing the river – hope we didn’t discourage your soon return! And last but not least, it was noted that the name should be changed to “New ASS Glory” since there’s so much asphalt involved. Or maybe because it’s a guaranteed ass kicking. Hey, you gotta try hard or die tryin’ fellas. SYITG, DTH

    Announcements:

    • The Crucible – kicking off this Sat 0730 – see slack for details

    Prayer Requests:

    • Doublemint Knee Surgery today, and he’s requesting help moving stuff this weekend – pls DM him for details
  • I’ll have the shorter distance please

Seven ambitious but realistic men posted in Rutland for yet another hot and humid morning run. Three routes were given. All would opt for the shorter distance or even modify that for less distance.

    The Route

Rutland to Giles. Do the back loop into Craney Island. Run down and up the hill. Exit neighborhood onto Atlee Station. Instead of the longer Bojangles loop, run back to AO. Should have been 4.7 miles but with Craney Island mistake, was likely closer to 5. Others probably went 4 miles.

COT – Numberarama, Name-O-Rama, Announcements, Hash took us out.

    NMS

Great to have Shank out for the 2nd time this week. Many conversations this morning including the DaVille Takeover, the expansion of trails and roads in Giles, injury recovery and age, and HOA bylaws that apparently are stricter in some neighborhoods that others.

    Announcements

    • DaVille Takeover – Monday, August 8 – Be ready other Nano-Regions. Here we come again.
    • Look at dates in October for the next DaVille relay
    • No DaPile this Saturday. Go to Dogpile (6 AM)

  • What to do? What to do?

5 Friendly faces gathered at Dogwood Dell to see if Doozy had a plan or if he was just going to fly by the seat of his pants. 5:30 and YHC has somewhat of an idea of where he’s going, grab the bag of frisbees and head out.

    Mosey to the round about

DQs, Helicopters – run a lap around the island, Imperial Walkers, Ukrainian Soldier – run a lap around the island, Merkins, WWIIs,

Mosey to the Amphitheater, place 6 frisbees on the left side staggered every other step, place 6 on the right staggered every other opposite step of the left side. Each HIM goes to a different frisbee to start. Do 10 of the exercise wrote on that frisbee run around the outside down to the bottom and broad jump up the middle steps to the next frisbee.

Mosey to the front valley area

11’s – Merkins on one side and Shoulder Taps on the other run to opposite side and Bernie back

    Not so Lazy, Lazy Boys

Numbers / Names Hitchhiker took us out and made us coffee

    NMS:

YHC and Posey took a little trip to see some new faces. YHC over did it the day before and had a case of Heat Exhaustion where my hands and legs both cramped so bad that I couldn’t function. YHC does not recommend this if you get the chance, it suckkkkkks. I am still getting a little residual cramping in my hands and feet but getting better. The weird thing is I have been drinking water and Pedialyte for a while so I’m not sure how I got dehydrated enough to get cramps. The moral of this story is, take care of yourselves and pay attention to what you body is telling you.

    MOLESKIN

Marv was highly amused by Crabcakes for unknown reasons, but the Bear Crawl Mosey was no laughing matter.  The Automobile Lottery math proved difficult, almost as difficult as remembering which vehicle corresponded with which exercise.  Next time we’ll just do Burpees for all of them since there was not a van to be found.  Welcome back Abscess.  Quiet morning without big and little brother.  Cawfee Talk featured tales from Yellowstone.  Lockjaw recommends the Bison Burger.
