NMS – it was a perfect morning to be at W Dog. The weather was perfect and it was good to see the crew. Its been a long time since Big Blue and ‘lil Blue have both been at the same workout. Even the City of Richmond made sure the grass at the Amphitheater was cut for us. YHC was glad to have enough light for the Pipe Loop.

  • WaTukHuk

Perfect weather and an early sunrise welcomed 5 to WaThoHuk this morning for a Garbage Plate running boot camp VQ. Here’s what went down:

Mosey to Barrington for tour de cul-de-sac: 7 spots, 10-15x HRM each stop

Cross to West Broad Village and around the lake for a stop on the grassy ridge with 25 x PLT, 25 x squats and 25 x inclined WWII.

Head back to the flag for Numberama, Namerama, Announcements (blood drive June 4, upcoming 2 yr Currahee anniversary, HDHH today 5:30 at the Answer, prayers for Whitesnake neighbor) and YHC took us out.

Tuckahoe takeover continues… Favorite mumble chatter today: ”we’ve never done anything quite like this before” Great work today fellas, ~3.6 miles on my GPS and thanks for humoring a fresh Q. Until next time, GP

  • It’s lucky because I said so.

A hearty group of 10 emerged from the gloom for a Tuckahoe Takeover of a Tuckahoe region AO.

We first moseyed to the front of the school for COP, consisting of SSH, helicopters, hillbillies, Don Quixotes, merkins and LBCs.

Next, off to the baseball field for a set of Lucky 7s (at each of the 8 light poles). 7 exercises at each pole. We did burpees, reverse crunches, jump squats, and merkins. A PAX member asked why it was lucky to do 56 burpees at 5:40 a.m. No good response was elicited from the Q.

Next, we tried a round of pole smokers on the side of the school. It was marginally successful.

Then, we traveled to our namesake, the Heartbreak Ridge, for a triple check with flutter kicks, LBCs, and running the ridge.

Finally, back to the parking lot for some American hammers, reverse crunches, and a merkin ring of fire.

Numberama, nameorama, and Attila took us out. Prayers for Ukraine. Announcements: see Pigskin about a blood drive event in June. HDHH at The Answer – 5:30.

  • Broga Breeze

A foursome of Broga regulars were joined by a traveler from across the river that must have broken down overnight. Todays stretching emphasized the hips and hamstrings with a small mixture of the back in effort to rehab a recent injury. New variation of the pigeon was created that YHC will plan to bring this again. Shiplap seems to have recovered from his relocation, although his TV did not survive the journey. Good to have Hutton join us this morning and hope he returns to keep Big Data pressure on Oyster. Good time this morning gents.

  • TuckaToll

Tuckahoe take over continued at No Toll this morning. YHC arrived with a plan for ~10 based on big data and SOJ showed up strong with 20 dudes ready to rock. Here’s what went down:

Mosey to tennis courts and tracers to circle up for the COP: 20xSSH, 10xCP, 10x HC, 10x merkins, 10x Scorpion Kicks**, 10x LBC, 10x heels to heaven.
    ** = fan favorite

Animal suicides on the tennis courts including: bear crawl, crab walk & gorilla shuffle. Al Gores for the six.

Mosey to the back lot with a bleacher stop for 30x dips, followed by a surprise coupon triple check: coupon thrusters, Big boy sit ups** and the timer runs around the opposite island. Plank work for the six.

Traverse to the field pavilion for 2×25 PLT’s and a clockwise** four corners, cumulative, ascending and descending. 10 x HRM, 20 x WWII, 30 x squats, 40 x MH and back to last.

Wrapped up the morning with 20x superman, a two team plank hurdle race, mosey to the flag and some light stretching.

Numberama, Namerama, Announcements (HDHH 5:30p Wed at the Answer on Broad, Rock & Roll 7A Memorial Day convergence + School of Rock puppy pile, prayers for several injured PAX) and YHC took us out.

No Toll definitely takes the prize for plush athletic fields! Great to be out with all of you this morning – solid work gents. Until next time, GP

  • Vintage Tomato Run at The Anvil

YHC loaded up early and headed from the fringe toward the Center of the Universe, stopping short at The Anvil for a run. YHC was greeted by 4 welcoming locals who stayed together for the following:

Run down the high school driveway then

    R on Honey Meadows,

L at the circle onto Meadow Pond Dr. and run to the last cul de sac,

R on the path toward Wachter Pond,

Jump back on Honey Meadows Rd,

L on Orchard Meadow Rd and run to the end,

R on the cross country path

L on the high school drive, cross Atlee Station to the first traffic circle in Giles

return to the VSF, add an optional bus loop.

The distance was 4.3 mi, or 4.8 with the bus loop. The PAX introduced YHC to this site: https://onthegomap.com which is pretty slick.

COT: Announcements: HDHH at The Answer tomorrow, blood drive and The Bridge June 4th. Prayers for Mr. Holland and shoulder surgery, congrats on the half.

It is always good to see Corned Beef. It was great to see Spit and Marco Polo after a long time, and nice meeting Speakeasy. YHC was proud to be the one to introduce Speakeasy to some of the trails.

The PAX passed ruckers and Mudface and No Idea on the way out. Way to put in the work!

  • He’s not heavy, he’s my Brother

13 strong arrived for the weekly run through the hills of UR and Westham. This edition was courtesy of the Tuckahoe Takeover and YHC mapped out routes that found as many hills as possible it seemed. It was also a bit “heavy” in the mileage and for those unfamiliar with this part of the ‘hood perhaps a bit confusing. Nonetheless all got their run in.

4 milers ran along UR lake, across the bridge and all the way up University to where it meets Ziontown. Cut through the yard and park to Rosslyn Hills. Take a right on Rosslyn Hills, left on September, zig zap left Higginbotham, right Charnwood, left Shadow and left on Rosslyn Hills back through the park and back the way you came.

5 milers ran along the lake, up around the baseball field (or were supposed to), down College, right on University all the way to where it meets Ziontown. Cut through the yard and park to Rosslyn Hills. Take a right on Rosslyn Hills, left on September, left on Ruggles, left on Rosslyn Hills, back through the park and back the way you came.

6 milers went up UR Drive, left on Campus, left on College, then all the way up University to where it meets Ziontown. Cut through the yard and park to Rosslyn Hills then right on Rosslyn Hills, left on September, left on Ruggles, left on Rosslyn Hills and back the way you came.

YHC ended up punishing himself the most by going “heavy” on the 4 miles which ended up being 4.5+ miles. We’re better for it.

  • Watch where you lay

Tuckahoe Takeover is in full swing with a first time Q for me at Punisher. It was sunny and nearly 70 as Fireman Ed let the PAX explore the space.

COP: DQ, helicopters, merkins, MCs and FMs

E1: Four corners with 10 burpees, 20 WWIIs, 30 2 count MCs, 40 2 count flutter kicks. We had trouble finding a good WWII place devoid of acorns.

E2: Explore the area with one dice. 1 or 2 means 15 HRMs, 3 or 4 means 15 Helix jump squat and 5 or 6 means 15 heels to heaven. I almost lied in dog feces hence the warning from Chum Bucket. Of the 5 rolls, the HRMs were the most popular. we went a long city block each direction and ended up back at Timmy Kane Linwood Holton Elementary.

E3: On the field, do a full length bear crawl. EF busted out a second gear on that. Back with lunges. Back with crab walk and then back with Bernies. Rip Cord was annoyed that we have no Republican named exercises so there is now homework for all of us. Mosey to dandelion pavilion.

E4: Sets of derkins, step ups and dips. Set 1: 10, 10 2 count and 15. Set 2: 15, 15 and 20 and Last set 20, 20 and 25. Mosey to side of school facing Laburnum.

E5: Wall sits, donkey kicks balls to the wall and one minute elbow plank. Then wall sits with air press and more donkey kicks. Mosey to little grassy area near cars.

Finished with AHs, merkins, LBCs and DQs.

Announcements: 5/30 convergence at Tredegar downtown led by Gomer Pyle, 6/4 Blood drive at Epiphany Lutheran – Pigskin is leading, 6/4 Bridge workout – ask Vinny, lunch tomorrow at Joey;s in Innsbrook.

Prayers are with Gypsy – upcoming surgery, Lab Rat – cancer recovery, and another PAX whose name I forget who just came out of shoulder surgery. It was good to Q a new venue and to meet Rip Cord.

Have a fulfilling and productive week!

    Fireman Ed

    MOLESKIN

YHC received a late text from Handshake to set up a play date at DaVille.  The dynamic duo ignored all signage to pull into the AO just in time for CB to plant the flag and launch.  For future guest Qs, the backside of the AO is much further than you will probably think.  YHC is not certain if both teams of 4 butchered the quadruple check but Team B bungled it so badly a second chance was imperative.  Thanks to the DaVille PAX for the warm welcome, maybe next time we won’t even try to count above ten.  Tuckahoe Takeover is in full swing, look for strangers all over.

    ANNOUNCEMENTS

Prayers for Lab Rat, Mr. Holland
