Discussions today included creeping purple flowers in France, farming equipment, trips to Napa Valley, why housing is expensive, Gypsy’s truck and injuries at 2nd Tuesday, 2nd F at Firehouse Subs. The purple flowers are (I think) Aubrieta/Rock Cress aka Cascade Purple Flowers.
Tag: 2ndF
2nd F meetups are fellowship related where members of the F3RVA community get together for non-workout related meetups (e.g. coffee, events, etc.)

GTE #47 – River City
Get ready for the River, Richmond’s rich history and diverse terrain provides the perfect backdrop for this GTE #47 leadership adventure. F3 men from Richmond and across the east coast will converge on the River City May 3-5 for an unforgettable bonding experience and personal challenge. Traversing the city’s streets, parks, and trails, they’ll not only test their physical endurance but also strengthen their resolve as men to live right, lead right, and leave right. The city’s cultural landmarks and scenic views will offer moments of reflection and inspiration along the journey from sunset to sunrise. Ultimately, this overnight ruck event promises to be more than just a physical feat—it’s an opportunity to forge lasting memories and deepen connections in the heart of Virginia’s capital.
There is still time to sign up for the overnight event or just the GrowSchool.
What do we do during a GTE?
There are 4 phases to a GrowRuck Training Event:
- The Rally – The Rally is the Friday night gathering that initiates the GTE.
- The King Builder – The KingBuilder is the Saturday morning workout.
- GrowSchool – GrowSchool (G3LT) is a Schooling session during which the four quadrants of Preparedness (Get Right, Live Right, Lead Right, Leave Right) are taught in a classroom environment by the GrowRuck Qs.
- The Ruck – The Ruck is the CSAUP (Completely Stupid and Utterly Pointless) Event during which the Leadership Skills of the individual GrowRuck Participants and the Teamwork of the Class is Accelerated through Pain and Chaos.

DaVille 10K and Bulkhead Breakfast

A clowncar(truck) of 4 posted with 4 DaVillian for a special 10k ruck at DaPile. Below is our route:

We walked through 2 neighborhoods on trails and wrapped up at 7:30am.
Numberama, Namermama, Opus took us out in prayer.
We then posted at Bulkhead’s house for breakfast where we had homemade scones from Opus, a Kringle from the Clown car guys, Bacon, Sausage, Eggs cooked on a flat top with Irish cream coffee, Bourbon Coffee. Speakeasy, Mustang and Choo Choo showed up also for the 2nd F where we were also learning about cricket as Bulkhead had a game on for us to learn the rules, etc…
We had a great visit and it was fun catching up with gents south of the wall.
Have a great weekend and I hope to see you in the gloom soon…Cheers…CB!

We Vote For Breakfast
Runners and ruckers elected to start their day the best way on a warm November morning. Running pax members were presented with a series of ballot measures to set the route. On Ballot Measure #1, voter turnout was low, but runners voting unanimously voted for “Not the Track” over “The Flat Route.” It appears logical deduction is possible at 5:00 in the morning. The balloting for appropriately named Ballot Measure #2 was somewhat more controversial. It seems some Pax members were unaware that due to quirks of the electoral college some votes counted more than others, leading to the long hill loop as opposed to the short hill loop. Thems the breaks. After 4-4.5 miles at varying paces, the runners and ruckers circled up and Opus efficiently took us out to allow us to meet Mustang and reconvene at Rise and Shine for some enjoyable 2nd F time.
The only announcement besides the impending breakfast was YHC’s proposal that runners, and potentially ruckers, who want to post on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving post at Spider Run for the annual 10k to participate in that tradition. Perhaps this time YHC will find the parking lot before launch time.

Love for Liv @ The Alamo

Wow! What an incredible showing by F3 RVA for the Love for Liv workout at The Alamo on this beautiful morning. Fall was in the air for 77 in total including Ms and 2.0s, 59 F3 Guys which included 5 FNGs. The 2nd F of F3 – Fellowship, shined bright as we lifted Yeehaw, Liv (his daughter who is battling illness) and the entire Schroepfer family up. Liv is truly a fighter and the PAX showed up strong today in support of her fight. Here is how it went down:
Warm up mosey to the cul-de-sac with return to the Alamo for SSH, Helicopters, Imperial Walkers, Copperhead Squats, Merkins and LBCS all IC. Heist, DTH and Don Draper split off with the kids for a fun filled workout with them while the PAX performed the following fun filled workout:
COP 1: Partner Up for 11s with Booyah Merkins and Ab Leg Throws running from the front of the Alamo up the hill to the neighborhood entrance.
COP 2: Triple Check with Dive Bomber Merkins, Ball Dippers, Timer runs up the hill to the neighborhood entrance.
COP 3: Alamo Stations with different MOT between; Set 1: 5 Burpees, bear crawl to next station, 10 Plank Jacks, lunges to next station, 15 Dry Docks, run around the Alamo to complete the circle; Set 2: 5 WWIIs, broad jumps to next station, 10 Freddie Mercuries, broad jumps to next station, 15 Flutter Kicks, run around the Alamo to complete the circle.
With only 3 minutes left, threw in 10 more burpees just for fun.
COT: Numbers, Names, YHC took us out in prayer to include continued prayers for Liv and her fight, Mouthpiece and his wife to have safe travels back to GA and for Florence’s Aunt and Father as they are moving them to Assisted Living Facilities.
Welcome to the 5 New FNGs – Jason (Swiftie), Finn (Hey Hey), Eli (Switch), John (Reba), Albert (Ponzi)
PAX transitioned to Walkie Talkies house to enjoy some refreshments and to continue the fellowship. It was great to meet many of the Ms and 2.0s and just enjoy everyone’s company. Not your typical VQ, but I am honored to have led this amazing group of guys on such a special day. I felt my call to lead and honor Liv and so glad I answered. Respect to everyone for showing up and truly making this a blessed Saturday morning! I know the Schroepfer family felt the love and it will be a day for all of us to remember. Continue to spread love, kindness and fellowship!

Fish Tales
6 men of purpose united for an evening of suds and buds. Temperatures were 70 and sunny. According to the 17-year old evaluating the PAX’s driving skills, the following might have happened:
The PAX assembled with 2 F’s in mind:
2nd F: Beers with your buds;
3rd F: The ante for attendance was bringing food for Feed More. Roughly 100 cans or can-equivalents raised, at least according to Handshake’s amortization curve, which itself is experiencing negative convexity.

Thursday night paddling
3 kayakers took to the water on a warm Thursday evening. All 3 stayed in their kayak and good times were had. Need to do more of this while weather is good!
