    Preblast — F3RVA’s 3rd Anniversary Convergence

We launched F3 RVA at GridIron on September 20, 2014. To commemorate the 3rd anniversary of the launch, we will host a convergence at GridIron (click for map) on Sept. 30, 2017.

The main event will be at 0700. As with last year’s anniversary convergence, we would like to drive the numbers way up. Please bring as many FNGs as possible. Go retrieve our stragglers. Don’t apologize to them for making them get up early — they need your intervention.

As with last year, we will again have a Bonus Workout at 0600 for F3 regulars and those ready for an FNG baptism by copious amounts of sweat and grime.

Charlottesville and Hampton Roads are welcome and encouraged to attend.

I challenge our F3 region to create a circle of men at GridIron that completely envelopes one of the football fields.

To echo Hardywood’s wisdom from last year:

**If you are awesome and love America you will dominate both workouts.**

See ya in the gloom! Jville

  • F3RVA July 4 Convergence

A PAX of 33 awoke to humid conditions on July 4, 2017 to celebrate the USA’s BDAY with a beatdown that went like this:

Mosey to second circle for COP.  Exercises were all IC and included Invisible Jumprope x 7, Don Quoite x 4, SSH x 17, and LBCs x 76 (7-4-1776)

Mosey to entrance on Dogwood Dell for 4 Burpees at each light pole all the way to Police Memorial statue.

Mosey to VITA track for 25 merkins and 25 squats every other piece of equipment all the way back to the flag.

Mosey across the parking lot past dog park and down the hill across from the Pump House parking lot for Bernie Sanders.  Partner up with PAX member and one partner runs backwards up hill while the other partner completes exercise.  Exercises included Merkins x 100, WWII situps x 200, Squats x 300.

Mosey to down the street to Pipe line trail, up to Rusty Cage for 3 sets of Pullups x 5 and Jerkins x 5.

Mosey behind amphitheater to run up hill backwards one more time and back to flag.

Numberama, Namearama, COT.  YHC took us out with a prayer of thanks for the greatest nation in the world and prayers for our nation to come together on the USA’s BDAY.

Moleskin : It was great to have such a large crowd on a holiday when a lot of people travel and spend time with their families.  The humidity was in full gear this morning, but it is July 4 after all, so it is supposed to be humid.  After warming up by running around the VITA track, the Bernie Sanders definitely got the sweat rolling this morning.  For those signed up for the BRR, YHC incorporated some hill work into the beatdown.  If you are not signed up for the BRR, your welcome.  The PAX really pushed through a hot morning and crushed the hourlong beatdown.  ETs afterwards was a laugh fest as usual. Thanks for allowing me to lead.

As we gather with our families for cookouts and fireworks this evening, remember that many people have sacrificed or are sacrificing so that we can enjoy the FREEDOM of the USA.  To all of them, F3RVA says THANK YOU.

    Circle K

  • One PAX follows instructions, the other PAX… has Swirly

28 strong Converged at the Belle Isle parking lot for a special Memorial Day beatdown. A great mix of Davillians, SOJ’ers, and West Enders all got after it.  Weather was 66 and sunny with ample humidity to get the PAX sweating.  Here is how it went down:

COP on Brown’s Island.  SSH, Merkins, LBCs, Don Qs, Helicopter.  Split up PAX into 2 groups.  Honeydo took the first group and Swirly had the 2nd group.

Pax 1:  Mosey back to parking lot.  3 Rounds of Donkey kicks at top of hill on the brick wall and Mtn climbers at the bottom, Start with 10 and increase by 10 up to 30 for each.  Pass Q to EF Hutton.  3 rounds of step ups on curbs for 1 min, between 10 Merkins at each corner of space.

Pass to Circle K for Jacobs Ladder.  Merkins from 1 to 7 up and down the hill towards North Bank trail.  McRib served up a Lazy Dora- 100 Merkins, 200 LBCs, 300 Squats.

Pass Q to Spit.  PAX goes to Belle Isle footbridge. Start at 5 WWII Situps, up to gate increase WWII count by 5, repeato up and back to 25.  Mosey back to parking lot.  Meet up with 2nd pax.

2nd PAX – Swirly took PAX to steps on Browns Island.  Dips and Derkins? up and down stairs.  Then Triple check, Burpee shuffle, Polar bears and WWII situps, steal YHC’s idea and do Donkey Kicks on brick wall.

Combined PAX meets up and runs up hill (Mountain) to Virginia War Memorial.  American Hammers and Ring of Fire.  COT moment of silence and back down the hill for Numberama and Nameorama.

NMS – YHC had been texting with Corporate last night to see about dividing the PAX depending on numbers who posted.  From there we were supposed to Hot Potato Q after we split at the COP.  YHC’s group kept the Hot Potato Q moving until the PAX met up to tackle the hill for the War Memorial.  Apparently Swirly was having too much fun serving up a beatdown to pass his Q on, to nobody’s surprise.

All the PAX were able to experience the Donkey Kicks on the brick wall.  Several PAX almost flipped over while trying to DK with their hands well below their feet.  Most found the preferred method was to grab a bunch of grass to keep their hands from slipping.

Many PAX were able to discover “goodies” while on the ground in the parking lot.  Glass, dead animals, and cigarette butts were found but the winner was a diaper.

Great to see 28 out with a lot of RVA regulars out of town this weekend.  When we did this last year Belle Isle we had 12 PAX.  Amazing to see how F3RVA continues to grow 3 years in.

Flatline swung by on his way to work.  Ironically his work attire of scrubs is more gloom appropriate than his normal attire when posting.  ETs was a blast as always with some interesting discussion of novel ways to stave off a bear attack.

Finishing up at the War Memorial is a small way to honor those who died in service of this wonderful country.  Be sure to remind your kids what this holiday is all about.

    Silent Assassin signing off.

COP (Swirly) – SSH, Arm Circles,Don Quixote Homage to Abe Vigoda,  Alabama Prom Dates, Flutter Kicks

Polar Bear Hurt Locker (Swirly) – Starting at the end of the paved section of the Carillon, begin a Polar Bear all the way to and up the stairs.  Complete a Russian solider across the top and Imperial Walker back down the steps.  Polar Bear Back to start.

Valley Of Doubt (Saab) – Perform a modified Jacobs Ladder with the following.  Start in the center of the Valley, at which point you hit an incline bear crawl to top and perform 1 merkin.  Bear Crawl back down and perfrom 1 burpee.  Run to next hill, bear crawl at the incline and perform 2 merkins at the top.  Bear Crawl back to center and perform 2 burpees, etc to 5 burpees.

Does My Butt Look Big In These Jeans (TYA) – Start at the bottom of the amphitheater and perform 1 incline merkin at the first step.  Complete 2 at the next step, etc. to the top of the 18th step.  Once at the top perform 18 squats on the top step, 17 on the next step, etc. to completion.

You Do Not Have Michelle Obama Arms (Blue Balls) – Divide into 3 groups and make a vertical line with all men in the plank formation.  Last man bear crawls to the front, with the next last man following him.  Perform this modified Indigenous Persons Run to some tree that was way the hell far away.  Once at that tree, turn around and head back to the starting pole this time with a Crab Walk Indigenous Persons Run.

Fourtastic (Rosie) – In the Carillon Field perform 10 burpees at the first corner, run like hell to the next corner and perfrom 20 merkins, keep going to the next corner for a fun round of 30 squat jumps and wrap up this success square by running to the final corner and completing 40 flutter kicks.

Indigenous Persons Run (Gumbo) – Divide into two teams and perform this exercise back to the flag.  Bonus points for burpee before it was your turn to run.

Merkin Mary – Circle up for a little Mary Merkin action.  Each man holds a plank with one lucky fella completing 10 burpees.  Perform this insanity until all 20 men have completed their merkins.

COT – Numberama, namerama, Viral lead us out.

    Moleskin:

Fact – Labor Day is not a holiday for women who have given birth.  So if you think that telling your M that Labor Day is just another reason to celebrate her, you will not get any extra points.

Great job today fellas!  Excellent to see the great team work and the absolute domination of Merkins at the end.

It’s an honor and a privilege to be associated with this fine group of men.  It is your job and only your job to make your week great.

    Aye!
