    MOLESKIN

YHC came in with a very loose plan for the day.  A mosey over to UR was the only thing really planned out.  Tuesday’s showers made YHC’s favorite UR hillside a little too treacherous for play.  Thankfully the rec fields were just moist enough to make it fun.  Half the Pax competed for first place during the Dora by skipping half the exercises.  You vs. you, but there was no prize on the line.  See Hitch for date ideas and to join his beach body transformation program.

    ANNOUNCEMENTS

Great to have the men of WDog at First Watch, come back anytime, 4:30 Broga, 4:00 Pilates, 3:30 Meditation, 3:00 Toothbrushing?

  • Expecting a Rodeo – if you know what I mean

Seven swole studs braved the last cool bootcamp that always starts before anyone else, even if you are late. After some attempted Q disparaging that was handled quite well with appropriate levity, we got to work.

Mosey to COP all IC, all 4 count; 20x SSH, 10x DQ, 10x IW, 10x Merkin, 10x HRM, 10x Sky Reach Merkin,  10x HRM + Sky Reach Merkin, 10x ww2, 51 LBC, 10x Hello Dolly, 10x Rosalita, 5x Bohemian Rhapsody, 10x Freddie Mercury, 20x Arm Circle, 20x reverso, Hands up, Hands down, 10x seal claps, 10x overhead claps, 10x arm circle, 10x APD, 10x Tuscaloosa Trailer Park Twister. So out of shape YHC needed to run to catch breath.

5:20 Handshake arrives. First senior moment? No worries mate, there will be more.

Mosey to the south ridge rabbit warren. Longest 11s ever: Bro code. Squats and WW2; movement accomplished by alternating bearcrawl, Lunge, Bernies. Some Polar bears to spice it up but not over flavor. Broad jump burpee for last set until called. Mosey BTTF.

Handshake took us out. Prayers for LabRat and Try Hard.

    Coffeeteria afterward.

NMS – Great to see the First Watch crew. Building up to YHC five year anniversary 4/22 and Earth Day. Sometimes not sure who really goes back and reads BB so YHCs normal method is to catch enough comments that PAX throughout the region build interest. “Guess you had to be there” is likely still the case, but what are you missing?  Are we really missing the toothbrush story?  YHC does not know.

Oversharing of the week goes the PAX member who will remain anonymous at this point. In brief, expected guests arrived 30 minutes early but were made to wait in the lobby until the previously scheduled meeting concluded discussion, the minutes reviewed, the action items assigned with names and dates, and handshakes finished. In other words, no Rodeo required. Yes Rodeo is a thing.  YHC’s fraternity has a story about a similar event where the more confined space of a dorm room should have led to a proper rodeo, but Dr. Zog, our hero, simply waved howdy to the unexpected guest and the bronc continued to provide an epic ride. That’s how we got to know Tex and what is better is that she was cool with that appellation.

For a gold mine of words that could mean something else in the context in which they are used (at this point, Upchuck observes that optimal diction is euphemism) please see Rodeo Terms: Cowboys, Events & More (carodeo.com) – if you know what I mean.

    Announcements:

    • Virtual FOB benefit 4/29 8p event.gives/fobf22, Gomer has a few extra tix, let him know if interested.
    • Blood drive June 4 at Epiphany Lutheran.
    • Sign up for Breaking Bread

3 more Qs left.  Get some!

  • Running Red

Eleven pollinators converged earlier than most this morning to enjoy the yellow coziness of Tuckahoe. According to the river walkers and bikers, here is what was rumored to have occurred in the morning darkness.

Mosey to Henrico’s smallest park for Warm Up that included SSH’s, Heli’s, Imperial Walkers, Merkins, Planks (with calf stretches), Cherry Pickers, Dead Man Hang, Jazzercise and some other limbering up movements.

Mosey down South Ridge for Lindsay. Merkins and WWII’s were the call of the day, Brocode style stopping at every intersection to perform.

At the bottom of S. Ridge, turn around and partner up. Runner runs to Overlook and back while partner lunges. Switcharoo until everyone reaches Overlook. Slow mosey back to the parking lot with stops along the way to perform 30 monkey humpers and 30 flutters.

Back at the parking lot, collect a coupon for some Circle Block work. Timer is 30 curls, with everyone else performing a variety of block reliant exercises. Rotate clockwise for one rotation. Exercises included squat thrusts, bench press, squats, APD’s, LBC’s, swings, triceps, and some others that will go unmentioned.

Return the block to the pile and BTTF. 2 minutes of mary for some Heals to Heaven and Shavansena.

Numbers, Names, Announcements, Prayers, Bacon Bits took us out.

Prayers to DTH and his family along with Lab Rat.

NMS: Great mumble chatter this morning with Spring Break adventures. Seems like some First Watchers are becoming Citizens on Patrol, while others have poor timing on vacation planning. Great work this morning considering the yellow haze that was hanging in the air.

  • Working Out on the Hardwood Floors

Five amateur waxing technicians who were not on Spring Break, pounded the roads and shaved the hills of First Watch on a slightly humid morning. Here is what went down:

Mosey to the front of the church for:

    COP:

Helicopters, DQ’s, Hillbillies, Series of Dead Man Hangs and reach for the Stars, WW2 Sit-ups, Scorpion Kicks.

Long mosey up River Road to the Glenbrooke Hills neighborhood for:

    11’s:

Traveling 11’s with Merkins and Heels to Heaven. Bear crawl the width of the road in between.

    Lindsey:

Traveling Lindsey with Carolina Dry Docks and Squats.

    PLT’s:

2 sets of 25 each partner.

Come around to Summit Rd and start up the hill. Stop about halfway and each PAX does 25 x Box Cutters then run down and back up. 15 x Heels to Heaven and run down and back up. 15 x 2-ct Flutter Kicks and run down to bottom.

Mosey back toward the VSF stopping at several points along the way for: Rosalitas, Pickle Pounders, Hello Dollies, Alabama Prom Dates, LBC’s, and some other ab exercises.

Back to flag with no time to spare.

Numbers, Names, Announcements and YHC took us out!

    NMS:

Great work by the PAX this morning on a running workout that included a lot of exercises while on their back. Feels like YHC washed half of the road off of him in the shower. One pax member overshared during COP about experiences with hardwood floors, so YHC thought it was fitting to lay on the road a lot this morning and try to get the back hair trimmed some. A truck passed by while the pax was on the shoulder of River Road completing Alabama Prom Dates. We think it slowed some while it went past. Good to see Snuff out this morning. He couldn’t sleep, so the next best thing to do in that situation is to post somewhere early.

Safe travels to our Brothers who are at 90’s MTV Spring Break sites and Dollywood.

    Have a great day, men!

  • BYOB (Bring Your Own Block)

Eleven early risers picked up the mantle and posted for today’s edition of First Watch. Conditions were 70 and sunny. According to HoneyDo’s M (who posted to HER workout), the following likely happened:

Mosey around the parking lot. 1 Loop. Circle up on South Westham.

    The COP, j-walking style:

    6 Burpees
    17 SSHs
    23 LBCs
    6 Don Quixotes
17 Merkins (Kudos to Handshake for the guest cadence)
    23 APDs
    6 Imperial Walkers
    17 Dead Man Hang
    23 flutter kicks

Mosey to pick up the blocks. Circle the parking lot, and meet up on the side of River Road.

    Pick a partner.

Partner 1: Run to front of Church with the block. Return. On either crossing of the road, stop and do 3 block merkins.

Partner 2: Rotate between 10 reps of Squat Thrusters and 10 curls. Begin griping about the blocks.

Carry the block to the main church parking lot, stopping for 1 block burpee at each speed bump.

    Pick a different partner.

The two partners coordinate (gasp!). 3 laps each.

Partner 1: One lap without any block, one lap with only one block, and one lap with two blocks.

Partner 2: Rotation of 6 burpees, 17 heels to Heaven, 23 flutter kicks.

Mosey to the side of the Church for block WWIIs (in the designated WWII area).

Slow mosey to put the blocks away and BTTVSF.

Numbers, names, YHC took us out.

    Announcements:

Gomer is looking for a Q for a HDHH next week. No Q would mean no HDHH.

Bodo’s is apparently giving a public address today on the topic “Sin: good or bad?” Tune in to find out where Bodo’s stands.

Monday evening should mean Punisher Happy Hour. Usually, Bingo Bar. YHC doesn’t know if this is happening.

NMS: Splinter’s cat apparently was feeling achy today, so YHC jumped onto the Q Sheet for National “I’m in Control Day.” YHC knows that the PAX loves them some block work. And, since it is also Manatee Appreciation Day, what better represents a Manatee (terrible FNG name) than a concrete block?

Programming Notes for Future Q’s: Squat thrusters are awful. Block burpees are not much better. And, Gomer has apparently completed the Russian Army’s Concrete Block Logistics Training Course. Sir Charles Foxtrot joined the PAX briefly.

Hats off to Handshake for recognizing that today was about recklessly violating traffic laws.

    Hi to Erin, who posted.

    UpChuck spits the bit.

    MOLESKIN

With the voice cracks of a pubescent boy, YHC thought some changes were in order, and skipped the Jazzercises and Suzanne Somers for a couple of new things but was accused of trying too hard.  So back to pills for making it hard next time.  Ronnie was ready to overshare as soon as he stepped out of the car.  Apparently, he jiggled it a little too forcefully and ended up wet first thing this morning.  Great coffeeteria as usual.  When the heavyweights start identifying as flyweights the Olympics are going to be lit.

    ANNOUNCEMENTS

Mobile Q sheet should now work – shoutout to Splinter

  • Pinch and Tickle

We had 8 for a first workout of the Hump-day this week and here is what went down:

COP – Run lap around parking lot insert some Karaoke left and right side then back to flag circle up for 20 4ct SSH, 15 Good Mornings, 16 DQ’s (old guys need to stretch), 15 Ukrainian Soldiers, 10 Imperial Walkers, 15 Arm Circles, 10 small 5 big, Reverso. 10 Helicopters, 20 4ct American Hammers, 10 4ct LBC’s, 15 Scorpions, 20 merkins. Recover as we are ready for the THANG.

    THANG

Partner 4 corner Escalator. So a ton of mumble chatter this morning as this group was chatty. YHC decided a date rotation was in order so everyone could catch up while working out so for this one we partner up and start with 10 Merkins, run to next corner of parking lot for 20 squats, then 30 LBC’s and 40 Flutter kicks then return to start. Rinse repeat two more times for a triple check.

Switch Partners partner 1(P1) runs lap around parking lot as the timer, P2 – donkey kicks, then P2 runs lap and P1 Dk’s. Repeat but exercise is LBC’s. Repeat again but exercise is alternating lunges.

Switch Partners again and we do 11’s starting with 10 merkins, run guard rail for 1 dip, bear crawl back to start 9 merkins run to guardrail for 2 dips bear crawl back to start. Continue until 1 merkin and 10 dips.

Finally we count off by 2’s so the 1’s run a 100 yard suicide (25, 50 and 75 yard stops) as the timer, P2 performs alternating lunges. Switch 2’s run suicides and 1’s alternating lunges. Repeato, except the exercise is LBC’s. Repeato again except the exercise is Squats. This turned out to be a gasser for the group and a great way to finish.

    COT

Mosey back to flag. Numberama, namerama and YHC took us out in prayer.

    Moleskin

We had a great time catching up and poking some fun at each other…like partners do. You can imagine the jokes, and fun time we had…but to be there…it another level and what gets you off on the right foot for the day.

Prayers for Lighthouse who has family over in Keiv, Ukraine. Prayers for Roger Roger’s Family and for those who are going through a tough time now.

Hump Day Happy hour @ O’Toole’s in Midlothian tonight and Another HDHH tomorrow at Capital Ale House on Cox Road in Glen Allen.

Basketball brackets are due to Splinter by tonight along with $10.00 registration.

Have a great day Gents as it was an honor to lead. Cheers….CB

  • Chewbacca’s Mom, Coltrane, and Two Cars

The heavy stuff was not supposed to come down until 515, so a 500 start let us warm up in just ample rain. Here is what happened, more or less, according to the three train conductors.

Mosey to the small triangle park for COP. Don Quixote, Hillbillies, Helicopters, DMH.

Now for a mobile Lindsay working out way down to Westham Station – Box Cutters and Carolina Dry Docks. Nothing was dry about the dry docks as we caught up with the run off water as we went down hill.

Various exercise along Westham Station to include lunge walk, bear crawl, and a nice dip/derkin medley on the stone wall.

Ah, Highland. Partner up for triple check. Partner 1 runs the steep hill and back. Partner 2 performs Monkey Hummers and Partner 3 performs LBCs.

Trot up the hill to the next turn for some catch me if you can. Partner 1 Saunders while partner 2 performs 7 HRMs and runs to catch the partner. Reverso and Repeato until you reach the top.

Return down River Road with a stop for squats and a stop in Saab’s driveway for APDs. Back to the AO and partner up for a round of Murder Bunnies while the other partner performs American Hammers. Reverso.

    Close out with flutter kicks.

    YHC took us out.

  • With a bottle…?

A hearty group of 10 emerged from the gloom for another edition of a rusty Ronnie Q. We mosied around the back of the church and then circled up for COP.

SSH, Ukranian soldiers, Don Quixote, imperial walkers, helicopters, merkins, LBCs.

Next, we did a Dora with 100 reverse crunches, 200 LBCs, and 300 squats.

Then over to the Church steps for three sets of dips with chair sits in between.

We followed this up with some windsprints at 50%, 72%, and 91.7% speed. For good measure, we did a burpee at each parking place in the row.

We then traveled back to the parking lot for a triple check: flutter kicks, LBC’s, and run a lap.

Numberama, nameorama, and the Q took us out.

Announcements: Humpday Happy Hour at PBR on Chamberlayne.

NMS: The title refers to an interesting college story from Splinter. Thanks to everyone for coming out. Without a moon, First watch may be tied with Tuckahoe as darkest AO.

  • Sniper in the trees

A lighter than average number of First Watchers gathered for a Lockjaw Q and this is what transpired

COP – Various exercises ending with a Burpee Ring of Fire starting (and ending) with Kubota.

Lockjaw flips the Q to Handshake and we were off. Mosey to the bottom of South Ridge

Army Training. The Pax starts at their stomach and they pop up “i’m up” run a few steps “they see me” and they drop to their stomachs “i’m down” then they roll left, complete 5 Merkins and then pop up “i’m up” run a few steps “they see me” and then drop to their stomachs “i’m down” then roll right, complete 5 WWII’s. Repeat for a 1/4 mile and stop at the intersection of Overlook.

Mosey to the top of Overlook for a Triple Check with P1 Running, P2 Squats, P3 LBC’s

Mosey back to S. Ridge and Overlook and Bernie up to the next road and complete 20 HRM’s. Mosey again to next road and complete 30 WWII’s. Mosey back up to the top of S Ridge and do one last exercise that YHC forgot.

Mosey to parking lot for 1 minutes of Mary.

Announcements – The Bridge workout in Cumberland on Saturday, see Slack. I think i’m missing something…

Prayer Requests – Kubota took a new role without James River Equipment. He’s moving to a full time Sales position at the Ashland Air Park location. Prayers (and congratulations) for this new venture for Kubota.

Moleskin – great time today. YHC appreciates the PAX being tolerant of a new (and random) workout. Thanks as well for the kindness on YHC’s birthday.
