  • Heartbreak, no longer Ridged for your pleasure

17, that’s right, 17 for a Tuesday morning working at a Middle School in the suburbs.

0530 we slaughter start with 20 WWII’s (sorry Saltlick) then we start our Mosey. While making our way across the parking lot Fudd decides to make his way in. We mosey over to the grass at the end of Quioccasin/Pemberton and start our COP. Next we see the Gomer Mobile flying into the Parking Lot.

Mosey around the Retention Pond to the Pemberton Parking lot and get in groups of 3 for a Triple Check. P1 runs to the back of the Parking Lot and back, P2 does HRMs, P3 does WWII’s.

After TC1 we do a quick Rim Jog around the Retention Pond.

TC2, The Stranger way. This time we mosey the opposite direction to the wall of the school and back. P1 runs, P2 LBC’s, P3 Carolina Dry Docks.

Rim Jog #2 but the opposite direction.

Mosey past the Tomatoes and over to the Playground Monkey Bars at Pemberton Elementary. TC # 3, this time we do 6 rounds. P1 does 5 Pull Ups, P2 Jump Squats, P3 Dips

Mosey back to Quioccasin and stop at the Benches in front of the school and do 20 Bench Kicks and 10 Derkins.

Mosey back to the Flag and do 10 Burpees and finish with WWII’s.

  • HIMs Willing to Burpee before Sunrise

    Early Morning Burps:

Before the official start, Saltlick arrived early and immediately chose violence by doing burpees. Lighthouse joined shortly after, providing what can best be described as emotional support. With morale already questionable, the beatdown began.

    Warm-Up (Mariner QIC):

    – 10 burpees OYO (because obviously)

    – Arm circles

    – Dead Man Hang

    – Crunches

    – HRMs

    Beatdown (Joey Chestnut QIC):

We deconstructed the burpee, starting at 10 reps and working down to zero, with a lunge walk between stations:

    1️⃣ Downward dog jacks (FWJs)

    2️⃣ Merkins

    3️⃣ Jump squats

After completing the circuit, we moseyed to the curb facing the COT area and broad-jump-burpeed back to the start — proving that everyone had successfully learned to construct a burpee.

    Triple Check #1 (Mariner QIC):

    – Run to curb and back to barriers

    – Donkey kicks on barriers

    – WW2s

    Triple Check #2 (Mariner QIC):

    – Run to same curb and back

    – HRMs (audibled to burpees on the third round, because growth)

    – WW1s

    Wrap-Up (Joey Chestnut QIC):

    – Dead man hang

    – Hello Dollies

    – Heels to Heaven

    – APDs

    Highlights:

    • Joey Chestnut’s and Mariner’s first QIC, safe to say everyone was ‘Marinutted’
    • No official theme; however, burpees.
    • Saltlick either absolutely loved todays workout or despised it
    • Lighthouse regrets starting his burpee journey early with Saltlick

    PAX ended in COT:

    • As we grew together this morning, we should be encouraged to help someone else grow in the world today
    • Prayers for those in a job hunt, in need of healing, especially those struggling in silence, and for the Friends of Barnabas upcoming trip to Honduras

  • Welcome to the party, pal!

Twenty one heroes came to Nakatomi Plaza for a Christmas party but they also had time to defeat the terrorists, climb 35 +1 floors, answer Die Hard trivia and practice one-liners.

As we moseyed from the parking lot to the football field goal posts for a warmup, guests started to see the Christmas lights and got excited. We then did roughly ten minutes of warmups and went to the Plaza. It is under construction, just like in the movies, and we had to hop over a waist level/Fudd’s nutsack height fence. We met at the top of the first floor for instuctions.

As I told the pax, if you are what I think you are, then you’ll know when to shut up, when to listen, and when to pray. We started with nine up and downs to get to the tenth floor. Then did another ten floors with increasing merkins starting at 1 (all the way to ten). Twenty floors up, we did some Die Hard trivia. Each question was worth 5 burpees. Right or wrong, we climbed another floor. Five more up and downs and ten burpees (out of a possible 25) later, we made it to the 25th floor.

Time to diffuse some B.O.M.B.S. Partner up and we did another five floors each while you and your partnered alternated Burpees, Overhead Claps, Merkins, Big Boy Situps, and SSH. The Christmas party is supposed to be on the 30th floor but the terrorists screwed it all up.

Hutton was not happy and shouted “From up here it doesn’t look like you’re in charge of jack shit!” A little more trivia and I responded with “I am an exceptional Q, EF Hutton. And since I’ve moved to Kidnapping, you should be more polite”.

We had to find the terrorists and the only choice now was the ventilation shaft. Two more times with bear crawls and knowing what a TV dinner feels like, and we made it to the 32nd floor.

A little more trivia and 5 burpees later and we did the final three floors. And Alexander wept, seeing as he had no more worlds to conquer.

But…we had to go to the roof to save the innocent party goers and scare off the FBI helicopters. So we did one more hill run and saved the day!

He made it back over the fence and did some Mary of LBCs and finished on time.

Big thanks to the Nakatomi Party Committee of Holly Gennaro, Harry Ellis and Mr. Rogers for the Coffee, decorations and snacks. Not sure what the future of the plaza is, but I suspect I can find a way to do this a 4th time next year. Until next time …

    Yippee-Ki-Yay Motherfuckers!

  • Playing life by a different set of rules….

4 men gathered for Heartbreak Ridge to ensure no man was left behind, or left alone.

YHC pulled into the Parking Lot to see one set of headlights, our 1st F (Retired) was waiting. A couple minutes later two shadows appeared in the distance, it was Offshore and Joey Chestnut. In order to avoid the icy roads they decided to run the 2.2 miles to the workout.

Off we launched. More moseying today to prevent snow filled faces and backs and to keep us moving in the cold weather.

At the end of the workout Offshore and Joey Chestnut were offered a ride home to prevent running the 2.2 miles back home but they politely declined. Their masculine dominance had already been established but it was 100% secured at this point.

Announcements – Kubota has the Q for The Bridge on December 27th. Breaking Break needs a Q both the 27th and 28th.

    Prayer Requests – none

NMS – YHC was worried that with as many different Pax members that could show up on a Tuesday that the AO would stand empty. YHC posted on Slack and sent out a text to those within a reasonable driving distance to get a head could and only got a couple commitments. YHC was happy to not be the only one. YHC also realizes that compared to Offshore and Joey Chestnut that he is a Beta Male.

  • No Rainy Day Blues here

A Bakers Dozen minus 1 arrived to enjoy Heartbreak Ridge, rain or not.

Mosey to the front of the school for a COP.

Picnic Benches, 10-20-30’s. 10 Burpees, 20 Decline Merkins, 30 Dips

Mosey the long way to Pemberton Elementary School Bus Loop. Partner Up for a Dora. All the exercises to be done with your partner. Round 1 – 25 Partner Boo-yeah Merkins, 25 Boo-yeah WWII’s, 35 Boo-yeah Jump Squats. Run to the end of the Buss Loop and back. Round 2 – 20 of each then run. Round 3 – 15 of each then run. Round 4 – 10 of each then run.

Polar Bears down the Bus Loop. Bear Crawl to each pole and complete 3 Merkins, all the way down the loop.

Bernie back to the top of the loop. 4 exercises.

Mosey back to the front of QMS 10-20-30’s. 10 Derkins, 20 Dips, 30 SSH’s.

Mosey back to the flag. 20 Squats to finish.

Annoucements – Kubota is signed up to Q at The Bridge on December 27th. Breaking Break is open the night of December 27th and 28th.

Prayer Requests – Roger Rogers FIL/his family. Those in the Pax unmentioned battling injuries.

NMS – YHC didn’t expect to be alone but was overjoyed when he turned into the Parking Lot to several cars. Great Mumble Chatter.

  • The Theme is 1985

    COT

-Asked triple check partners what they hope to achieve before their next milestone birthday.

-Tomorrow is YHC’s 40th birthday. Appreciated the opportunity to work out with this exceptional group of 12 men. Praise God for health.

  • Pounding in the cold

15 of Westhoe’s greatest braved this cold windy Tuesday morning and tried to keep warm with a lot of movement. This including 3 teenagers in shorts: Joey Chesnutt, Mariner and Handshake. According to Handshake’s rock hard nipples, we did something like the following:

13 of us went to the football field at 5:30 and soon were joined by Fudd and Full House. We did some warmups of SSH, Uranian Soldiers, Copperhead Squats, LBCs, WW2, Merkins and maybe some other stuff.

We then went for a preview of everyone’s favorite Christmas Movie Die Hard and hit the Ridge. We did 2 sets of exercises at the bottom, ran to the top and did SSH until the six reached the top. Then we went back down for some more. 1st set was 20 HRM and 20 WW2, 2nd was 20 Merkins and 20 Heals, 3rd was 20 Wide Merkins, 20 Dollies, 4th was 20 Chuck Norris and 20 Rosalitas and the 5th was ten burpees. The hill won’t fully transform into Nakatomi Plaza until late December.

We walked down the hill one last time and then moseyed back to the football field. There we did my favorite Double Quarter Pounder. First set was 25 HRM at the 25, 50 LBC at the 50, 75 single count Mountain Climbers and 100 SSH, bernie back to the goal line each time. Second set was 25 Merkins, 50 Hammers, 75 Squats and 100 single count Freddies.

With a little time left, we hit the benches and did a Lindsey of 30 dips/10 bench kicks, to 20/20 and then 10/30. Then back to the flag for some Mary of LBC, Suzanne Sommers and WW2. 1.2 miles today which is about average for this AO.

Announcements: The Bridge this Saturday with EF Hutton, Thanksgiving at Mary Mumford. Joey’s hotdogs for lunch today at noon.

Big thanks to all who served and currently serving. Prayers to the Correll family and all those fighting cancer.

“Like a drifter, I was born to walk alone.” But I am grateful that is not the case with this group.
