Tuckahoe Elementary

  • Reintroducing partner work to some varied success

    An even 8 came out to Hoedown to see if Honeydo would show up to Q this week. Perfect spring weather for a beatdown:

    COP: SSH, Russian Soldiers, Helicopters, Merkins, Flutterkicks, Scorpion kicks.

    Mosey to the 3rd Dark lot for 4 corners: 10 burpees, 20 Merkins, 30 Reverse Crunch, 40 SSHs. Over to 3rd back lot, Partner up – Broad jump burpee length of lot – alternating. 2nd round – Polar bear.

    Over to main lot: Lindsays of Carolina Dry Docks & Jump Squats. Over to TES blacktop- Partner up again for Wheelbarrow across & back. Head up to school field for attempt at Chazz Michael Michaels. Mutiny ensued and audible was called. Change up to 3 rounds of: 30 Donkey kicks, run across & 10 burpees.

    Down to Triple check loop. Partner up for 4 rounds of 1 man runs loop while other doing 1 legged LBCs. Finish up with some Heels2 Heaven. YHC took us out.

    NMS: More light and warmer temperatures in the gloom in May. Good to have 8 strong, although when Doozy and Last Call arrived with only Upchuck and YHC we were on the verge of a mini-SOJ takeover. Pucker ran in to the AO and was so sweaty nobody wanted to partner with him.

    YHC wanted to do some partner work of limited sorts and when Wheelbarrows were called the PAX took it on with vigor. Not so much when the Chazz Michael Michaels were called. Maybe YHC should have tried for Jerkins over near the gym instead. We do need to figure out how to get some arm work in the gloom somehow. Oh well good to try new things out when Q’ing. Hopefully YHC made up for his Q fail last week.

  • Somebody is missing???

    6 of the usual suspects made their way out of the dark into the light of Hoedown for a Honeydo Q. 5:30 no Honeydo so Handshake took the reigns and lead the PAX on a short mosey across the street to Bodos’s work place.

    COP: Handshake

    SSH, DQ’s, Cherry Pickers, Inverted Scorpion Kicks, WWII’s and possibly a couple others

    Get to the corner for some four corner action

    Corner 1 – 10 Burpees, bear crawl, corner 2 – 20 Merkins, Bernie Sanders, Corner 3 – Monkey Humpers, run, Corner 4 – LBC’s

    Handshake hands the Q to Garbage Plate

    Run the length of the Parking lot and back while GP thinks of what to do

    Line up on the first Parking Lot spot Jump back and forth over the line 25 times on each side, modified parking lot merkins bear crawl two spots for 3 merkins, crab walk two spots for 3 merkins all the way down. Back on the end line, X cross overs (way to much coordination for YHC) repeat parking lot merkins.

    Triple up at the curb, Partner 1 – run the length of the parking lot, partner 2 – balls to the wall, partner 3 – LBC’s

    Same triplets for five minutes of pain – 3 doing 2 donkey kicks while other 3 do shoulder taps, switch, and the increase each time by 2. YHC believes we made it to 22

    Garbage Plate asked who wanted to take the Q and with no volunteers YHC was Voluntold and away we went. Mosey back to the flag parking lot for 11’s run across short side of parking lot Bernie up the hill 10 American Hammers, run back across 1 scrunchy frog. As usual YHC got thrown off at the 6,5 5,6 mark and Handshake figured out YHC was increasing on both sides.

    Numbers/Names – BODOS said he was feeling lead to let YHC know YHC was feeling lead to take us out. It is always a privilege for YHC to speak to the Creator on behalf of the PAX.

    NMS:

    YHC was going to poke fun at the fact that Honeydo fartsacked on us this morning but YHC had to first make sure that Honeydo was in fact fartsacking. After a text back from Honeydo telling YHC all is well, I can thankfully report that not only did Honeydo Fart Sack on us he also Brain Farted thinking that he signed up to Q next week. Thanks and Golf claps to Handshake for taking control of the situation and leading the PAX.

  • Bistro 804 is now open

    To celebrate the opening of Bistro 804 5 + 2 high impact men rolled out of the fartsack on a rainy morning. Here is how it went down, more or less.

    Mosey Hepler, Paris, Forest to Tuckahoe Shopping Center

    COP: DQ x10, Helicopter x10, IW x10, Chinook x10, WW2 x10, Hello Dolly x20.

    20 corners. 4 corners x5. Run long ends. Alternate King Crab (Crab walk 5steps + 2 count Crab Cake) and Polar Bear (Bear Crawl 5 steps and merkin) on the short sides. 1 exercise each corner intended to attend to the whole man: body, soul, and spirit.

  • Beautiful morning for a semi-old fart to Q

    8 able bodied individuals took note of a morning in the upper 50s to partake a workout at Hoedown. The Q, me just celebrated a birthday to solidify his status in the upper 40s club.

    COP: 10 Don Quixotes, 15 arm circles, 20 Freddie Mercuries, 25 LBCs and 47 side straddle hops

    Mosey to the Walgreens. Do Four corners. 10 Burpees, 20 jump squats, 30 merkins and 47 2 count flutter kicks.

    Mosey to one of Bodos’ many parking lots. Do another four corners. This time 10 burpees, 20 Lt. Dans, 30 2 count mountain climbers and 47 APDs.

    Mosey to the front of those places called “a school”. Split into three groups to maintain s.d. protocol. Group 1 does 47 box jumps, group 2 47 merkins with the bike rack, and group 3 holds 6 inches. Switch until each group does each exercise.

    Mosey to blacktop at back of school. Do suicides with 4 burpees and another exercise at the other end. We did 7 heels to heaven, 7 donkey kicks and 7 decline merkins at the gaga pit.

    Mosey to loop. Partner 1 runs a loop while the other does.. balls to the wall, donkey kicks and wall sits.

    Finish with 47 American hammers and a round of Mary with merkins.

    We closed with no announcements (not sure whether the PAX were pooped or sleepy) but closed with prayer. Need to pray for those suffering from COVID either knowing someone who has it, losing their job because of it or their job has changed for the worse because of it. Keep praying and we shall overcome with the help of the one who truly calls the shots. Also prayers are with White Deer as he goes through surgery today.

    5 mighty men started a new week the right way at Hoedown this morning. Here’s how it happened:

    COP: Mosey to the bottom of Lindsay. Deadman hang // Helicopters // DQs // Imperial Walkers // LBCs // Merkins // SSHs 21s (count to 5 in Candace, to 21 silently in our heads, all stop at the same time, Handshake messed up so we did 5 burpees).

    Up the Hill: parter up. P1 runs to the top of Lindsay and back to P2, while P2 does lunges. Switch. Next round: Broad jumps. Next round: Bear Crawl. All the way to the top of the hill. Mosey to blacktop.

    7 of Diamonds: On the blacktop, run from corner to corner, 7 burpees in each corner // Next round: 14 two count flutter kicks in each corner // 21 merkins // 28 squats // 21 carolina dry docks // 14 WW2s // 7 Burpees. Mosey to field.

    Triple Check: P1: Donkey Kicks // P2: Dips on bench // P3: run to monkey bars, 5 pull ups, run back.

    Mosey back to the flag. In honor of International Panda Day, lay on your back and spell out I LOVE PANDAS with your feet.

    While our bodies were wondering what we were doing up at 4:30am, eight men gathered in the near west end under a brilliantly bright moon to tell daylight savings where to go and how to get there. And to do a 45 minute workout.

    The Thang:

    Two laps around the traffic circle and then the COT up on the blacktop.

    10 Helicopters. 10 Don Quixiotes. 25 Side Straddle Hops. 10 arm circles (forward and reverso) 10 Mercans. 15 LBCs. 10 four count Freddie Mercury’s. 5 burpees.

    Mosey to the west end of the black top for “full blacktop agilities”. Start at the west end, agilitize to the east end, do an exercise, agilitize back. The agilities:

    Kareoke–5 mercans High Knees–3 burpees Ballerinas–10 LBCs Leaps and Bounds/Butt Kicks–10 2 count side straddle hops. Sprint–10 Hand release mercans.

    Mosey to the field for “Make them Up as You Go 4 Corners”.

    Three sets for four corners for the group:

    It was a continuous motion type of thing with the QIC more or less making it up as he went. It wasn’t ideal, but did keep the motion going constantly with no rest.

    COT– 20 American Hammers. Spell “Mister Holland” with your legs, 20 American Hammers.

    Congratulations to Handshake, it’s been almost 2 years since he showed up at Hoedown…well done sir.

    Also, for much of the Q I called Mr. Holland, Don Draper. Both are male characters in motion picture and TV dated dramas respectively, so it’s easy to get them confused. I apologize to Mr. Holland and, in some respects, Don Draper as well.

  • Old 100 Reprise

    10 gentlemen of the gloom (GOG) gathered in the dark to start a new week in the right way. Having noticed that there was no Q at 5am, YHC signed up and quickly scribbled a wienke to reprise a favorite from last summer. Here’s what happened:

    COP: SSH // Helicopters // DQs // LBCs // Crabcakes // Merkins // Plank to Elbow Plank Program. Mosey to back parking lot of Third Church.

    OLD 100:

    • 100 Squats. Run a lap around the church. Wait for the Pax.
    • 90 2x Flutter Kick. Run a lap, etc.
    • 80 2x Mountain Climbers. Run a lap
    • 70 WW2s. Run a lap
    • 60 Dips. Run a lap
    • 50 LBCs. Run a lap
    • 40 Merkins. Run a lap
    • 30 Lieutenant Dans. Run a lap
    • 20 Donkey Kicks. Run a lap
    • 10 Burpees. Run a lap.

    After last lap, we worked back up the ladder, cutting number of exercises in half and eliminating the lap. Got up to WW2s and then ran out of time.

    COT: Numberama, Namerama, Prayers for DTH and family as they travel and for the day ahead.

    Six tenacious thrill-seekers erratically parked at Hoedown this morning for a late sign-up edition of a Splinter Q. After describing how much sleep YHC lost over the past few days thinking about this Q, off we went for something similar to what is transcribed below.

    Quick double loop counter clockwise around the drop off loop in honor of Upchuck ?. Diversion after turn 3 of lap 2 up the stairway and to the center of the sea of black.

    COP
    – 10x Donald Quixotes
    – 1x Burpee
    – 15x HIGH Knees
    – 2x Burpee (accurately predicted by Hitchhiker)
    – 15x Arm Circles each direction
    – 3x Burpee
    – 20x American Hammers
    – 4x Burpee

    – 15x Mountain Climbers

    Very short mosey to the very short basketball hoop (appropriately sized for some PAX members) and wait for Upchuck to demonstrate his inner Spud Webb. Small 4 corners bounded by two basketball goals. 10x merkins, 20x squats, 30x WWIIs, 40x Flutter Kicks (2 count). Alternate bear crawling and lunging between stations.

    Slightly longer mosey to the southeast corner of the black sea for a full sized 4 corners. Increase count by 5 for previous exercises. Skip jump between stations with arm waving OYO.

    Anticipating complaints due to the lack of moseying, YHC led the PAX for a brief mosey down Lindsay. Partner up for catch me if you can. After some discussion around the intended outcome of Bernie Sanders, and Handshake catching his breath, partner 1 starts “Sandersing” up the hill while partner 2 completes 3 burpees then runs forward to tag partner. Continue up the hill.

    Mosey back down the hill with great fanfare.

    Same partners, suicides up Lindsay with lit lamp posts on the right acting as the lines. Partner 1 runs legs 1 & 3 and partner 2 runs legs 2 & 4. Idle partner squats and jumps repeatedly.

    Needing to run back up the hill, YHC beckoned alternate “Sandersing” and forward run with the lamp posts acting as the transition point. Convene at the top before scurrying back to the parking lot for 2 minutes or mary which included reverse crunches and LBCs.

    Numbers and Salutations before ample prayer requests with YHC taking us out.
