Midlothian Middle

  • 4 hard & 1 flaccid

A standard Wednesday run turned into 4 SOJ HC’s and 1 Soft Commit for the F3RVA Century on May 2nd-3rd.

The route took us through Walton Park, The Grove, and eventually back up Mt Midlo. We had a set of 4-milers and Three (almost) 5-milers.

Prayers for BoBerry’s B.I.L., Will, and the pax on IR.

    Out.

  • Farewell again

7 showed up at MOT with no Q but were graced with the presence of The Colonel, not the KFC one but the former RVA resident from the Unregulated Militia of South Carolina. Yes, Tobit, back for Spring Break, made an appearance to get some miles. With no plan we headed out with a classic loop at an easy conversational pace – Woolridge – Charter Colony- Mt. Pisgah. Tobit may be back briefly before a permanent departure in May but now his RVA house is sold and the family is prepping to move to Charleston. Good luck Tobit.

    Announcements:

Century Classic CSAUP is in final planning stages, the date has been set – May 2-3. Overnight run/ruck event around the RVA AOs, teams of 6-10 but teams of more or less are welcome. More details to come soon.

  • Oh, the choices we make!!!! If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

4 adventure ready PAX with so many choices had little to no time to put a lot of thought into what they really wanted to do. Dunkin was considered but Bullseye with pack headed off into the Gloom for a solo ruck, YHC had texted the group that Wednesday was going to be an 8-10 mile day so Doozy was left to a solo run, Don Draper and Heist moseyed off into the Gloom and got 5 in.

YHC was struggling with a strong head wind and even if it where only a 6 mile run I doubt a 45 minute return would have been possible. Choices were made not all were the best….

  • Follow the Dark Gravel Road

Four exceptionally talented runners showed up this morning to take on the toughest MOT had to offer, a race through Salisbury.

The key to success, follow the dark gravel road into Salisbury, Loop around to Oakengate and then head back on Castlebridge until Elmstead. The remainder of the run was a blur as our oxygen-deprived brains were just trying to hold on. Left onto Winterfield and again onto Winterpock. We finished with the Mt Pisgah loop and ended with 5.25 miles. Legend has it that our swift 8:45 pace could have outrun a chubby housecat, but all were sleeping on this beautiful 70&Sunny morning.

Namerama, then a COVID-era COT since Heists family has the stomach bug.

YHC took us out with prayers for Rosie’s trip to Paris this evening, HIMs who couldn’t make it out this morning, and Sad Clowns who need support from all of us.

  • Frozen Figure 8

6 runners took to the streets to find a few flurries, a couple small patches of ice, and some miles around Midlo. Route Midlo to Woolridge – 4 miles left on Coalfield left into the Grove – Mt. Midlo back to the flag with some extra credit around the school; 5 miles down to Charter Colony, left up Manders, through the Grove, left on Woolridge and right back home down Coalfield. Solid route with some hills – Woolridge 2x and Manders (or Mt. Midlo) made for some difficult work on the morning.

Great to see Lugnut back out for some runs, and some solid chatter at Starbucks watching the snow come in.

See Slack for coming info on the next CSAUP – The Century – the date is the first decision to be made and then more to come after that.

Prayers for Draper’s friend going through a tough time and for Draper on setting boundaries for helping him out.

  • We found another hill!

Wednesdays edition of Miles Of Truth had a pretty straightforward route this go around. Out to Salisbury , all the way til it ends then left on Castlebridge, left on Elmestead, Left on Westfield , then Mt Pigsah and back to the school. Pick your poison with a lap on the track or a lap around the school. If you took a lap arounnd the track you found the bonus hill! We took it brocode style with varying speeds. Great to catch up with House Party today!

    announcments

    • Don’t park next to the buses. We’ve been asked to stick to the spots closest to 60
    • volunteers are needed to help at The Healing Places 10k training team. See Shakedown, 1-800, or Sippy Cup to help out.
    • frozen triangle this Saturday at 6am at Dogpile! Come on out for this great CSAUP event and challenge yourself. Run and ruck options are available!

  • Chill Vibes

5 fellas braved the chilly temps to get in a few miles. Bro-code was on the books as the plan for today. It didn’t quite work out that way. As 5:30 approached the route was given and adjusted, Doozy let us know he was getting more miles and would meet us at the end. We set off on a 4mi route with the plan for the rabbits to come back for the 6 at each intersection. Somehow the PAX all ended up at the same pace once Doozy veered off into points unknown. We ran together, just fast enough to keep warm! Good to catch up with everyone. Numbers names announcements prayers and YHC took us out.
prayers for PAX that are having issues keeping them from coming out into the gloom. Reach out to that Kotter! Announcement is the Frozen Triangle on February 8th. Meet at 6am at Dogpile. Run or ruck about 9-10 miles. If you run there will be boot camps each three miles or so. Bring your shovel flag. Refreshments and support will be traveling along. Reach out to Heist if you want to help. Reach out to Try Hard if you plan to Ruck. Have a great day yall!

  • Feel the Rhythm Feel the Rhyme!

Get on up it’s running time!

Two of the fastest runners on the road this morning climbed out of the sack and made a run through Salisbury. It was cold, there was ice, but it was all good. Stay safe out there my friends!

  • The Last Non-Holiday MOT of the Year!

Warm weather brought the runners but nay a route in sight. Nothing to fret, YHC and Doozy scrambled something together that gave everyone a good workout.

We headed down Mt Midlo, beside the pond, and into the Midlo Mines Park to get our first mile in. We followed the trails into The Grove and left the neighborhood up the big hill that dropped us on Coalfield Rd.

After that, every man for himself back to the flag. We all got somewhere between 4 & 5 miles, then called it a day with the Numberama, Namerama & Share+Prayer to close us out.

  • Rain Run

Out Coalfield for 22 mins and back.
