Midlothian Middle

  • Did I hear Fartsack?

9 fleet footed gentlemen may or may not have followed YHC’s direction of a fartlek style run through Midlothian. Goal was to switch up the pace up and down throughout the route, some did just that, others hit their target pace throughout, and others searched the area for an open restroom – most completed 4-5 miles.

Route – Midlo to Mt Pisgah and down Westfield, loop around Gather and across the Kroger parking lot to Le Gordon and on to Midlothian HS. Loop around Charles A Ransom Way for post-memorial day remembrance (Air Force Major, Midlothian HS alum, VMI alum, baseball teammate of Gumbo and YHC – killed in Afghanistan). Back down Charter Colony to the Turnpike and back to the flag. Bonus trip to the bottom of the parking lot and back up to finish out the time.

    Announcements:

Saturday – come on out to RockNRoll, pick up a Summer Tour point, celebrate my 9th F3 manniversary, YHC will donate $9 to Team Brightside for each PAX in attendance

Saturday – Kindred Spirit Satellite – Whitesnake will be playing the hits with his band from 2-4pm

Sunday 6/2 – SOJ Deep South family cookout – Horner Park 3-6pm – bring a side dish and let Swoop or others know if you’re coming

  • Magic Mile, No Thank You

5 speed walkers gathered at MOT to see if Heist really would wear his Magic Mike outfit. 5:30 No Heist, No Magic Mile. The route was Waldon Park to Queens Gate through the trail to The Grove up the hill now call “Sonna Bitch” onto Charter Colony BTTF

Numbers / Names and OC took us out

NMS: YHC did intervals on Tuesday and had already planned to do a longer run for Wednesday so the mumble chatter of the Magic Mile was not something I was looking forward to and Heist in a Magic Mike scenario just made it worse.

  • A little something for everyone.

8 MOTers + an SOT castaway hit the mean streets of midlothian today. I had several preplanned routes, which offered a route/pace for all. We ended up splitting into two groups for 4 miles and 5ish respectively.

    • 9:15 min mile (4.9 miles total)
      • Don Draper, NTB, Swoop, Sable, and Tobit

Shout out to NTB, Sable, and Warby for posting their first MOT.

    Announcements

    1. Let’s smash some Bermuda records next Tuesday.
    2. Keep pushing the Team Brightside fundraiser. We are rocking.

I took us out in prayer.

  • Define “bro code”……

Taper week for GTE 47, so YHC decided a nice bro code style run was in order for the day. 5:30am hit and the wide receivers split off from the linemen and we were off.

Route as folllows: left onto 60, left at charter colony, left onto woolridge, left back on to Midlo tpke. We were so quick we had time to go down and back up mt. Midlo. Bro code style so went back for the six at each turn.

numbers names announcements: All are welcome and encouraged to attend the Friday rally! 6pm at Bon Air Community Center. $25 to OC to cover food etc. Convergence at 7am at Dogpile on Saturday, bring an FNG!

Greenbow took us out with prayers for PAX who need it.

    NMM

YHC always thought bro code just meant going back for the six. Apparently that definition is different depending on which nano region you are in. Some might say the toughest hill available for MOT is not “bro code”. But we did it and crushed it! TCLAPS to all the PAX today for pushing through.

  • Back at it

YHC isn’t at his best, but the pack has teamed up to drag him along for the foreseeable future. This week’s MOT is no different. Consensus led to an easy out&back down Coalfield. Everyone got between 4 & 6 miles, then Doozy added another 3 after COT. Another great run in the books. Thanks for the push, gents… it was much needed.

Numberama/Namerama with SOT fellas, OC took us out, high-fives and fist-bumps all around

  • Happy accident

It’s really a simple route, you can’t get lost because it’s an out and back.

    Wrong

The route was supposed to be Midlo to Charter Colony to the turn around at Timberwolf or 22.5 minutes whichever comes first.

YHC made an early turn at Coalfield instead, the happy accident was that Coalfield provides a sidewalk where Charter Colony makes you battle vehicles for the first .5 miles before connecting to a sidewalk.

The PAX did connect back to Coalfield via 688, everyone turned around at the 22.5 minute mark. YHC ended up with 5 miles total

NMS: Good morning getting a chance to learn a little bit about Lurch while running. Thanks to all the PAX for birthday wishes.

  • A mostly misty MOT

Three buds joined me on a fairly bread and butter MOT run today. Down Woolridge, right on charter colony, back on Midlo and some exploring north of 60 then BTTF. One lap around the track for good measure.

Numbers/Names. Pray for the stomach bug victims.

Props to Lurch for posting again. He might bring an FNG to Satan’s Hill Friday…and like that the deep south Pax continues to grow.

Coffeteria: Excellent conversation with the guys. Got to see a video of Ponch jumping in a frozen Lake. Kicked around the idea of an F3 ball late this year. Get the Ms dressed up. 2nd F. Celebrate F3RVA 10 year. Thoughts?

  • Solo runner

YHC was the lone runner that came out of the Gloom at MOT this morning, SOT guys went one way and YHC went the other.

To the circle at Timberwolf and back (Garmin says 7 miles)

  • Run it again

Solo runner at MOT this morning and feeling uninspired YHC decided to run the same route as last week.

Walton Park to Queensgate to Coalfield and BTTF

The hills in the middle of this route are brutal

  • Just one more mile??? Whatever!!

4 Long distance runners gathered in the Gloom to find out if YHC’s route was really 5 or was it actually 6 miles? Leave the Midlo Middle parking lot to the right, to Waldon Pond Rd, Right on Queensgate over the rollercoaster, right on Coalfield, Right on Midlo, BTTF.

Numbers / Names OC took us out

NMS: Rosie and YHC ran that route a few weeks ago and YHC thought it was a just under 5 mile route???? Oops, my bad. YHC turned around at the coalfield circle (around mile 4) and told Cookie only one more mile but at mile 5 turned back for the 6 again and had to tell Cookie 1 more mile. We are all better for it, well done gentlemen, well done.
