  • London Bridge is falling down

Our attempt at the Bridge of Hate turned into more of a Bridge of Chaos as PAX members started dropping like flies. Despite our best efforts to hold it together, it quickly became clear that some of us should stick to building bridges out of Legos. Thank you all for indulging my creative attempts.

    Warmups:

    1. Side Straddle Hops, Don Quixotes, Imperial Walkers,  Copper head Squats, Arm Circles, Cherry Pickers, Helicopters, Merkins, LBC, Alabama prom dates, Flutterkicks

  • Ultimate Frisbee Tournament – Replay Booth needed?

29 HIM’s including 2 FNG’s showed up this morning to will their team to a championship in the first annual ultimate frisbee tournament. Here is what went down…

Warmarama- quick F3 mission and warmup ( SSH, dead man hang , merkins and light stretching) and the teams were selected.

First game was a shorter warmup game where the Foreskins prevailed over with some superior passing and long range caches on the back field. Meanwhile the team with an extra man decided to use them as a sub and prevailed with some short quick movement down the field.

Second game- The foreskins turned our to be to strong and took the championship. MVP performance from Snip with some insane passing skills.

YHC is thinking we need to run this back again sometime in the fall. We may need to start recruiting coaches and allow them to draft / recruit teams…NO NIL MONEY! thoughts?!

    Announcements-

  • Not Enough Arm Circles for Some

Twelve of the most able bodied gentlemen around gathered at random moments leading up to a prompt 0530 launch of NoToll. DK squealed in barely on time but caught up to the PAX fairly quickly. Short mosey to Field #1 to kickoff this NoToll takeover.

    COP

    • 20x SSH
    • 10x Ukrainian Soldiers
    • 10x IWs
    • 15x Arm Circles forwards/reverse
    • 10x Helicopters
    • 10x Copperhead squats
    • 20x LBCs
    • 10x MCs

    The Thang

Short jaunt over to the sideline where YHC proclaimed we would be doing a broken merkin ladder. Everyone rejoiced? Run across the field for 20 merkins, back across for 19. Continue to 16 then Al Gore for the six. Break exercises were 2 sets each of 20 jump squats and WWIIs.

Saunter along the tree line to Field #2 for the second iteration of the broken ladder. 15 – 11. Break exercises were 20x dips and step ups on the benches. 2 sets.

Three full strides over to Field #3 for ladder elements 10 – 6. Al Gore on the other side before break exercises of two sets of 20 monkey humpers and 20 2-count american hammers.

Shimmy over to the parking lot for ladder elements 5 – 1. Finish up on the recycling side with 20 lunges and 20 LBCs. Only one set as we had other business attend to.

Slowsey back to the basketball courts where YHC collected 3 tennis balls. Broad side of a barn was called. PAX had to throw a tennis ball from the 3 point line and hit the backboard. Hit, no penalty. Miss, penalty. A variety of hits and misses with bear crawls, crab walks, something else, and burpees as penalties. You will have to ask the PAX if they hit or missed.

Circle up for a minute of APDs much to the likeness of Last Call before numbers, names, and YHC took us out.

    Moleskin

Much mumblechatter between DK and Last Call during COP. Those two acted like two sorority girls that hadn’t seen each other since those unspoken activities at their senior formal.

YHC appreciates the hospitality shown by the NoToll regulars. It was hard for me to believe, but it has been since January 2016 since YHC Q’d NoToll. The fields are as nice as ever and the camaraderie is almost as great. See y’all in 2032!

    Splinter out.

F3 is a leadership organization. Check out the focus of F3 leadership on the newly revamped f3nation.com and listen to Dark Helmet’s address here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xbSTDi1ioJw&t=3288s

I’m reflecting on what it means to be a leader from reading the book by Simon Sinek called Leaders Eat Last.  If we are a leadership organization what does that look like:

If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.

The true price of leadership is the willingness to place the needs of others above your own. Great leaders truly care about those they are privileged to lead and understand that the true cost of the leadership privilege comes at the expense of self-interest.

    HC thankful for you brothers.

Find your Why here are 3:

Don’t cry for Last Call, he is in South American bird hunting, but do say something kind to someone, because you never know what they are going through.

We are lifting up a particular brother today struggling with thoughts of Suicide.

  • Quarter Pounding some Corn

A whopping 17 of the areas finest looking fellas came out to enjoy the plush fields of Huguenot Park. Conditions were an ideal sunny and 70 with the turf in perfect condition to enjoy. After some tying and retying of shoes, we were off to enjoy the morning. Here is how things went down.

Mosey to the 1st field to confirm conditions. Circle up for Introductions, salutations and short motivational speech. Warmups included SSH’s, Helis, Hillbillies, Arm Circles, Dead Man Hang, LBC’s, Reverse Crunches and 6″ hold. Quick announcement of lights were left on a truck, Machismo seemed OK with it so lets get going.

THE THANG: Quarter Pounder (Lady of the Night Style). Line up on the touch line. Run to the bridge (25+/- yards) to perform 25 Merkins, return to touch. Repeat Merkins then continue to bleachers (50+/- yards) perform 50 WWII’s (crowd favorite as YHC had to reconfirm the # numerous times, must be losing my voice). Circle back to perform 25 Merkins and return to touch. Repeat Merkins, WWII’s and continue to 1st tree (75+/- yards) for 75 squats. Circle back with 50 LBC’s, 25 Merkins then touch. Repeat Merkins, WWII’s, Squats then onto the fence for 100 flutters (2 count). Repeat Squats, LBC’s, Merkins then touch.

Thang 2: Mosey to the parking lot poles for triple check. Timer runs around 4 islands while partner perform pole smokers and curb crawls.

MBTTF with a stop along the way at the bridge for 20 dips. Names, Numbers, Announcements. Doozy took us out. YHC brought out some sweet corn for the PAX to enjoy.

NMS: Incredible summer time numbers with many regulars enjoying the turf conditions. Good mumble chatter in muggy conditions. Good to have NTB get back into the fold after work had kept him away for a few weeks. Corn was plentiful and enjoyed by the PAX, including Machismo who is either feeding a family of 20 or generating ethanol for his gas powered vehicles. Thank you gents for the opportunity to lead. Always good being with you guys in the gloom.

  • 2024 HR Derby – errr – Burpee Derby

22 men showed up at Huguenot Little League to show their best Ohtani and Judge impersonations – only 6 men were successful in hitting the ball out of the park, and only 1 man (Orange Crush) left the yard twice. Congrats to OC on winning the 2024 HR Derby and congrats to the PAX for doing well over 100 Burpees, among other exercises. Maybe next year, Outs will equal APDs?

We assembled in right field for some COP and light calisthenics and warm-up, and also to collect names for the batting order. Directions were given – 3 Swings, anything other than a HR is an Out, each Out = 3 Burpees for the fielders and a lap for the batter, each HR deletes a lap for the batter and allows the batter to choose a substitute exercise for the fielders. Then it was time for the main event.

A lot of 3-out = 9 burpee performances, unfortunately, but I guess it makes us stronger. And, resulted in the end of the batting order barely being able to swing. Crabgrass, Rudy, 3 Doors Down, McRib and Meatball each launched 1 HR. OC launched 2. Those guys graced us with merkins and squats instead of Burpees.

We cleaned up, dusted off, and returned to the Flag for COT, numbers, names, announcements and prayers. YHC took us out with thanks for the ability to be kids again this morning.

Only 1 announcement – James River Float – August 11 – see slack for details

Naked Moleskin:.sometime the hardest thing seems to be just getting up. I’ve thought about how f3 makes me just a little less lazy. How the barrier to just pick up something your dropped when your you’re fit or work on a relationship is slightly smaller. You have the energy to do the small things and that adds up to being able to do the big things. My friend Maria was at church this Sunday after having her abdomen sliced open and her insides moved around in a seek and destroy mission for the cancer that is llaguing her body. She was able to do this because she was firA friend Andy Rice ambled into church this Sunday half leaning but by himself one step in front of the other. He did that because it was his habit. At F3 our mission through fitness faith and fellowship is the invigorate male community leadership. We exercise our 3Fs because it reduces the barriers when things get hard ..Surround yourself with people who have the same goals as you. rise together. ============

  • Participation trophies for everyone!

20 F3RVA HIM’s converged at the lush fields of NoToll to play Ultimate Frisbee this morning. Making four 5-man teams playing a couple games simultaneously was briefly considered, then scrapped for a bigger field with bigger teams.

Thugs sat it out still nursing an injury but getting some fine reps and stretches in while the rest of us battled it out on Field 1. Bromance was our only injury today, after maintaining a lethal presence on the field, he felt something snap in his calf so took the rest of the time to stretch with Thugs. OC then ditched his fluorescent penny and defected to Labrat’s team, where they went on a 4 TD streak to pull back into the lead. (We all know OC is the secret sauce.)

Notable disc vets were OC, DK, Snuff and Labrat who maintained a very steady presence in the field with (nearly) perfect throws, while we saw Rudy, Warby, Handshake, and Machismo dominate the end zones – both on offense and defense. Also when Labrat teamed up with Dealer and/or Snip short fast play TD’s happened quickly!

Honorable mentions to L Woods, Fandango, McRib, and Dry Rub – these guys staying moving and snatching the entire game!

Kudos to our other Respect Players – Scram getting in there to make plays and not getting re-injured, Rodeo Clown showing surprising agility and sticky fingers, and Mr Roper making smart short plays in the mid-field.

Both teams played very well, but Team Labrat won 9-8 in the final minutes. Looking forward to a re-match this Thursday at Timberwolf! Yours AYE! ~DTH

One year ago, YHC showed up to NoToll as an FNG for a Mudslide beatdown on the summer tour. It was an honor to lead the 17 PAX today to celebrate an F3 trip around the sun! According to the future FNG running laps by himself around the NoToll fields, this is what went down:

      • 8 Merkins
      • 4 Groiners

    • It was awesome to see these HIMs push themselves for a great cause! It was all gas, no brakes for 20 minutes before finishing the final round with a run back to the flag.

    Numberama/Namerama/Accounting/Announcements/Prayer Requests

    • 8 Rounds: Heist, Dr. Try Hard, Dealer, NTB = $32

NMS: It is truly an honor to lead today and YHC is incredibly grateful for the men of F3RVA who have pushed me to be a better husband, father, and leader over this past year. The PAX has encouraged me in numerous workouts, challenged my spiritual development within the shield lock, carried my burdens through the long night of GTE, and rallied around my family in comfort through the loss of an unborn child. We are the cure for the male loneliness epidemic in our country and I am excited for many more years to come!
