  • Closing 2024 with an Old Glory

9 gloom warriors posted to NoToll to close out 2024 in style – with an Old Glory. Most knew what was coming and came anyway. A few, including on DR visitor, didn’t know exactly what they were in for. Either way, 0530 cam and off we went to dodge the Recycling truck and get our work done.

Mosey to the back fields and around for 2 laps with OG in tow.

Plant OG in the front corner and set the 20-minute timer for large 4 corners – 1) 20 merkins, 2) 20 jump squats, 3) 10 burpees and 3) 20 WWIIs. Complete as many laps as you can in 20 minutes. GO.

Log your laps here if you want: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-L8e9W24ygnU0suaGyKxzi1PgPqY1CBd57hLrKTZI-g/edit?gid=1717732871#gid=1717732871

Time is called. Convene back at the flag and line up for indigenous people run, with OG leading the way. 2 laps and back to the parking lot, including Oyster leading a jailbreak to keep OG away from Tinman.

3 minutes left for some Mary – Freddies, Dollies, Rosalitas, Reverse Crunches and 30-seconds of Superman.

COT, numbers, names and YHC took us out with reflections on 2024 and hope for 2025.

Announcement – New Year’s Day Convergence tomorrow 0700 at Dogpile.

No More Gumbo for 2024. Happy New Year men!

  • Rockin Around the Sweatfest Tree

11 southern studs embraced the frozen tundra of NoToll, all pumped up for the Christmas musical beatdown promised by the good doctor. Here’s how these fine brothers wrapped the best kind of Christmas gift:

The THANG:  Mosey over to the big parking lot, provide a brief welcome and disclaimer while Q’ing up the first song. After each song, run to the next stop (the PAX unwittingly outlining a Garmin map picture).

    2. Jingle Bell Rock (2:11) – Mtn Climbers to the beat, Merkins for every “Jingle”

    • Counterama # 11

    • Announcerama (see Below)
    • BOM Prayer

    Prayer Requests:

    • Machismo shared about a neighbor who recently had a heart attack playing pickup football, and also mentioned SwipeRight (only ever posted once) who’s a couple years out from a heart attack. The reminder is that none of us can guarantee tomorrow – that every day we may be writing the last lines of our legacy. Let’s make each day count!

NMS:  Awesome to have solid numbers out for a fun holiday music beatdown. The workout pattern outlined a Christmas Gift complete with ribbon and bow on top, though we clearly didn’t make our bow loops big enough. But extending those loops any bigger may have killed one of us.  Tough to have much mumble chatter getting through all 9 Christmas hits, but awesome coffeerama at Starbucks after! Heart is full, thank you brothers, and MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! Yours AYE! ~DTH

    Announcements (SEE SLACK!)

    • DETAILS TBD FOR JAN 1 CONVERGENCE – stay tuned on Slack
  • 10th Inaugural 12 days

43 high impact men joined YHC in celebrating the season with another phenomenal time at NoToll this morning for the F3RVA award winning tradition of 12 days of Christmas. The morning started like any other with a mosey to the parking lot, introduction, welcome to the FNG, disclaimer, F3 Mission, and a few warmup exercises. No need for any additional work so we moseyed, some slower than others, over to the pavilion for the real fun. (Requests have been made for additional pavilion space and further drying of the southeastern field for next year, noted)

Over the years the exercises have changed slightly but they stayed the same between last year and this year. Oyster and EF Hutton remembered the days of dips and derkins, no longer possible due to lack of bench space. Crunchy frogs were added in as a staple at some point along the way but why change something that works, especially the burpees.

For those curious the exercises today were: 1 – Dozen (12) LBCs; 2-Sprints(mosey) across the field; 3-Diamond Merkins; 4-Imperial Squat Walkers; 5-Burpees; 6-Carolina Dry Docks; 7-Ball Dippers; 8-Hand-release merkins; 9-American Hammers; 10-Freddie Mercuries; 11-Crunchy Frogs; 12-Broad Jump Burpees. We had a pause after round 6 for some instructions on how to do an Imperial Squat Walker but otherwise the PAX was in tune and enthusiastic from the get go.

Close things out with a little Mary to finish at 0615 on the dot.

Thank you to the veterans of the 12 days – some quick/unofficial Big Data research has Doner Kebab as the only 10 time finisher with Hardywood and EF Hutton close behind with 9. Welcome to those first timers and our FNG Dookie – it was too easy and quick once he answered Gomer’s first concert question. Hope he makes it back out.

    Announcements:

    • Rudy and Futon are running a CFB Playoff pool – see Slack for details, you have until Friday
    • Gomer Pyle and Pigskin are raising funds for mission trips to Honduras
    • Tin Man VQ Thursday at the Forge for his 50th Bday!!
    • Flatline is doing his own research to help out a supply chain experienced veteran but would welcome some help

Another year, another energizing morning during the holiday season with the men of F3RVA. I cannot tell you all how much it means to have everyone show up and join me for the 12 days. Hard to believe this is the 10th episode of this and it’s still going strong.

Thanks to EF Hutton for organizing the Secret Santa Gift Exchange again, that was another hit. DK’s bucket of dongs and calendar from Belay wins for best gift. Remember for next year, dongs are always funny. Have a great day, happy holidays to all. See you in the gloom.

    Everything is coming up Rosie.

  • ”Is this Rick Astley?! Hell yeah!”

A perfect 10 PAC met on moist ground where no rolls are paid. 5:30 hit, music on cue, we were off! Mosey to the lush fields and the picnic shelter. Indigenous people style with 2 burpees.

  • Freddie’s Birthday

11 soon to be invigorated men kept moving on Machismo’s open slot fill.

Q quickly mosied to the darkened tennis courts for a couple laps alternating movements from high knees to step overs to keep warm. Warmarama consisted of arm circles, DQs, Freddie Mercuries, Merkins, ISWs, UkSoldiers,

Thang 1 Ankle spraining Triple check to the water tower with merkins and Freddie Mercuries. Rosie unfortunately stepped off the asphalt in the wrong spot. Prayers for a quick recovery, but he bucked up and made it through the workout anyway. Good news is it wasn’t swelling too bad.

  • A NoToll Celebration

17 of YHC’s closest friends joined in the Gloom for a birthday celebration and a pre-Thanksgiving workout. The rain held off, mostly, and this is what transpired:

Start off with 20 merkins OYO and the announcement that those would occur every 4 and a half minutes throughout the workout for a total of 200 merkins.

Mosey to the back lot for traditional COP, started off with 46 SSHs IC and several other exercises, interrupted twice for merkin sets.

    THE THANG:

Modified Lindsays – mosey over to the side field for modified Lindsays – today we were counting to 46. Start on side one with 30 jump squats and 10 2-ct mountain climbers, run half way stop for 6 SSHs, continue to other side for 25 and 15 and so on until you complete 10 jump squats and 30 2-ct mountain climbers stopping in the middle each time for 6 SSHs and of course pausing for merkin sets at the appropriate times.

Pavilion Circuit – mosey to the pavilion for cover that YHC didn’t know we needed. Exercises were 10 step-ups, 20 dips and 30 2-ct Freddies, then choose your own adventure – either run a lap around 1 field or bear crawl or lunge around the pavilion – your choice, mix n match, You v You. 5 sets. Yes – stopping for merkin sets as called.

BTTF for 2 and a half minutes of Mary and one last (10th) set of 20 merkins OYO.

    COT, Numbers, Names, Announcements, Prayers.

NMS:  What a pleasure it was to have my dear missionary friend Dr Mark Crouch join us this morning. On our last missions trip to Papua New Guinea, Mark and a number of other missionaries and kids joined in, and his son Levi gave him the nickname “NoGrass” which means no hair in the native language (he’s bald). Mark is an extremely skilled physician who I have been deeply grateful to count as a brother and mentor when serving in the field. His wife and four kids have been serving there for 11 years, and we have really enjoyed our time serving in PNG alongside them. Our next trip back is coming up in Mar-May 2025 so your prayers and support are welcome! Check out our Blog link below for more info and to follow along with all the picture and stories. Yours AYE! ~DTH

THE PAX did an incredible job of supporting the “Q”

  • Wiley Veterans

13 gamers made their way out to No Toll to play a game that they could not win. According to 2 Pop and his run crew this is what went down.

Mosey to the bridge and pay the entree fee. 20 Incline Merkins, 20 Dips

Mosey to the “not Pickle Ball” courts (sorry Oyster) for the COP – DQ’s, Helicopters, Dead Man Hangs, Merkins, LBCs,

Mosey to the parking lot for the main event

21’s YHC will count SSH to 18 then the PAX has to continue to count (IN THEIR HEAD) to 21. This is where the veterans who have played this game took it upon themselves to continue counting even though YHC had stopped cadence. YHC did appreciate that they continued counting as one without cadence but that’s not how the game works. Punishment #1 Run a lap, PAX continued this until all punishments where given out

Run, American Hammers, Plank Jacks, Imperial Walkers, Dips, SSH which if you take the first letter from each spells RAPIDS. The last High school Baseball game of the fall ball season is tonight, GO Rapids

Move to the base line for Parking lot crawls to 10 and back with Lunges and Squats

    Mosey to the corner, regular 4 corners 10 – American Hammers, 20 – WWII’s, 30 – LBC’s, 40 – Sugar Sticks

Numbers / Names Chaplain took us out

NMS: YHC saw the Q sheet was open so seized the opportunity. 21’s is a way to keep everyone involved but everyone is a winner when nobody wins. I think that might have come from a book I read about Yogi Berra – “I never said most of the thing I said”
