2 rough runners showed up extra early (4:45ish) this gloom for some extra credit with a Garmin trainer running drill before the standard 5:30 ruck with the gents.
Choo Choo had his beloved red short shorts on to numb the legs for the run.
we covered about 2.75 mi of trail.

Arnold and Tony have something here
It was a balmy morning at the jungle gym at Ecoff Elementary. YHC didnt want to miss the first morning in awhile where the dip, and pull up bars werentt frosty. So, Tiger King and Big Rig made the best of it. Here’s what went down.
Good mix of the following
Hollow Rocks
Dips
Jerkins
Band assisted Pull ups
Non Band assisted Pull Ups
Key point today was to make those last 3 reps count! As instructed by Arnold and Tony Horton.
Great to get out for the Early morning Pull up Session again!

Forge Foursome Dip the Wick in James
A balmy 34 degrees greeted four ruckers at The Forge location tackling a pleasant 5 mile jaunt to the James and back in a speedy 1:25. Probably 5+ degrees cooler down by the river, and Shirley’s incline was quite the wakeup call after our long descent. Phenomenal conversation as usual, and deeply grateful for these fine brothers in YHC’s life. COT prayer for a couple men facing hard times. We can always do more for those the Lord places in our path. Yours AYE! ~ DTH

[EC]Fire Hoses & Bangkok!
Title is a nod to Bangkok for EHing Wildwood into F3 back on Nov 30th! Quoted by Choo Choo this morning at Wildwoods VQ, on his recollection of that day.
Beaver showed up for an early start at the pre AO run to get in a 10k and the VQ man himself shows at 6 to save the day, the run was a struggle bus until he showed up for his pre AO 5k.
It’s exciting to see the progress these guys are making out here! Wildwood and I will be ready to roll come the Frozen Triangle!

NewKent Training for The FT
2 Frozen Triangle novices continue preparation with a 5k run rather than the usual Tuesday gloom ruck. We shaved some time off our average pace and got tons of mumble chatter in. Heck of a run Wildwood! Glad to see we’re making progress. YHC has never traveled a 9 mile distance, certainly some uncharted waters in getting into, but we’re up for the challenge!

No Butter, Just Ice
13 lucky gloom brothers donned the extra weight to conquer a BRUTAL 8 mile trail ruck in preparation for the Frozen Triangle 10-miler happening Feb 8th. After hearing from young Snap he was running behind 15 minutes, the on-time 12-PAX set out from Pump House Park and set a blazing pace down the North Bank trail toward the City. En route, Offshore came running past from the other direction and mentioned the Buttermilk was treacherous. Hmmmm, maybe we should have listened… Starting 15 minutes behind the pack, there was no way Snap was gonna catch up. But the PAX was stopped a few times for water and stretch breaks, and their beloved Q also made them do some IC Flutters and Squats once we crossed the Bell Isle bridge. We also added the Bell Isle loop, but still young Snap hadn’t arrived. This was where the Q asked for volunteers to go back for the SIX, and the PAX split with Ponch leading the front runners toward the Buttermilk, while YHC and a platoon of big-hearted warriors circled back over the Bell Isle suspension bridge in search of Snap. Turns out he blew past Bell Isle and was about to cross the Browns Island footbridge, but we got him turned around and once united we took off at double speed to catch the front runners. Finally reaching the Buttermilk, we knew catching up was going to be near impossible – the entire trail was covered in ice. A few of us who participated in the Grow Ruck had many reflective moments remembering the painfully slow progress under extra weight on these same trails, only then they were slick with hard rain instead of hard ice. Right then we all agreed Rodeo Clown’s strap-on ice grips to be a genius move. It was grueling but the PAX set out to try and catch up with the front-runners, and we periodically shuffle-jogged where the trail permitted. As it turned out we never had a chance to catch them, and the Ponch Crew were driving past us as we were finally crossing the Nickel Bridge. SUPER proud of these men for taking on what turned out to be a wildly challenging CSAUP. In comparison I expect the Frozen Triangle ruck will be a walk in the park. We have 15 PAX so far HC’d to ruck it – WHO ELSE WANTS IN?!? Yours AYE! ~DTH

[NewKent]Rucking Late!
YHC ran a couple minutes late this morning, I blamed it on loading “Yukons Cuddle Buddies” but it’s on me for hitting that snoozer. But to my surprise I showed up to find a couple of early birds – an FNG who we’ve knighted Twirly Bird (who ran solo, sorry we didn’t have anybody to join up with you) and our good buddy Chowder (we ended up rucking and chattering it up about some good subjects on bourbons/whiskeys, hunting and the like).
Way to go guys! Getting in 2 workout posts on a Saturday morning! Thanks for coming out!YHC is going to switch to running the following Saturday mornings to prep for the Frozen Triangle on Feb 8.
