  • Shouldn’t We Still Be Asleep?

5AM wakeup came very early after springing forward. Warmup: SSH’s, Cherry Pickers, Freddy Mercury’s and Hand Release Merkins. Mosey to the playground/track area. One runs the track while the other does 100 Merkins, 200 Mud Face Squats and 300 Flutter Kicks. Moved to the blacktop for Wilts. 100 calf raises, 100 flutter kicks, 100 lbc’s, and 100 something else. We still had a couple minutes so we ran a couple of suicides on the basketball court. Mosey to parking lot. Numberama, Namarama and Mr. Holland took us out with a prayer. Great way to start the week but a little light by 6:15 would be nice. SYITG.

  • Anvil 3-8-21

We agreed in the parking lot to do a hot potato but Trout really too the Q. Warmup: arm circles, lbc’s, cherry pickers and the thing where you lay on your belly and twist one leg across to the other side. The workout was simple, 1 lap around the track followed by: 10 sets of 5 reps of the following: Incline Merkins, Dips, Pullups and the thing Trout started where you hang like a pullup but touch your toes to the bar you’re hanging from. This took longer than one would suspect. We finished by running a lap around the track (that was the only part that wasn’t a Trout Q). Numberama, Namarama and Prayer by Trout. As always, it was great hanging with you guys this morning. See you in the gloom.

  • Not Sunny and 70

The Trout and I met up on a not so sunny and 70 degree morning. I locked my keys in the car so it wasn’t a great start. Mechanicsville EM has a lot of covered sidewalks so there was plenty of room to work out in the dry. We started off with a few laps around the courtyard sidewalks followed by arm circles, side straddle hops, lbc’s and merkins. Thanks to Corned Beef, I have learned that a Tabata is perfect for a rainy or snowy day with limited space. We did 36 minutes, including 8 cycles of 9 exercises. We did 3 upper body, 3 core and 3 legs. Exercises were something like: bear crawls, boat canoes, Helix squats, balls to the wall, freddy mercuries, jump up onto the bench, incline merkins, I can’t remember and calf raises on the garden ties. It went quick. We headed toward to the car with 1 minute left. We skipped numberama and namerama as we know each other, it was raining and I needed Trout to drive me home. As always, my day is better because I started it with F3.

  • Good Morning at The Anvil

4 men arrived at The Anvil for a fun workout. Started with parking lot tracers, merkins, cherry pickers, lbc’s and side straddle hops to warm up. Headed to the basketball court to run a few suicides. Someone should really repaint those lines. Went to the jungle gym to touch feet to the monkey bars (Trout taught me this but I can’t remember what it’s called). Next we did a modified Dora. We paired up. 1 Ran while the other did the exercises (60 boat canoes, 100 merkins, 200 lbc’s and 300 heels to heaven. Headed over to the benches. Where we did 20 dips and 20 jumps up on the benches. We repeated this 5 times for 100 of each. Time was up so we headed to the parking lot for numberama, namerama, and a quick prayer by the Q.

I hadn’t seen Mudface in a couple of weeks so it was great to have him back. Rumor is that No Idea will be back soon. Hopefully we’ll see him at Manndate on Wednesday.

  • Hot P in the new year

No Q no problem in the new year. 5 men came out on a foggy morning for the morning hot patato. Bulkhead lead the group in the COP and then went over to the blacktop and formed a line, started with one burpee then sprinted to the left then right side of the basketball court, increased to 5 burpee. Then mr Holland stayed on the blacktop and did 11’s of jump squats and WW2 situps. Then it was handed over to mudface where he did merkin squats (dont know what they are really called) against the wall then balls to the wall, bearcrawl, then crawl bear to edge of blacktop and back, started at 1 went up to 5. No idea then moseyed over to the playground and we did 5 meekins, ran a lap, 5 meekins, 10 toe things, ran a lap, 5 meekins, 10 toes 15 dips, ran a lap, 5, 10, 15 then added 20 calf raises. Then handed over to trout, went over to the swings, feet on the swings and did 20 reverse crunches, 20 jumping Jack’s, did that 3 times, then feet in the swing and did 20 meekins and jumping Jack’s and did those 3 times, ran back to the flag when we did windshield wipers and stretched.

Numbered around and Trout took us out.

Prayer request from Bulkhead who just found out last night his boss passed away yesterday suddenly from a stroke.

  • Back in the Saddle at Anvil

YHC was excited to be back to F3 workouts and Anvil moved to Monday was a great place to start. Then return to bottom of hill for 9 DK’s then run to top of hill for 2 LBC’s We continue until we are 2 DK’s and 9 LBC’s and stop due to time and mosey to the flag. BTW – The hill felt big at this time of the work out!

    Mary

We circle up to stretch and then Numberama and Namerama.

    COT

We welcome Farm Country who was visiting from Atlanta. He told us about the 6th man tradition where the 6th man in the numberama would go to the center of the circle and tell the group about himself, how he got his F3 name, etc . This would be helpful for the potential FNG’s that may be attending the work out. So we tried this with Opus and we learned a lot about a brother that we have workout out with during our time in F3.

Trout took us out in prayer

New Year’s Day convergence is at Satan’s Hill, check out the pre-blast for details. In observance of the COVID-19 10 people restriction we will have a New Year’s Day work out at The Creek. We will post a pre-blast by Tomorrow for details.

It was great to get back into working out again and seeing some brothers I have not seen in awhile. It was an honor to lead. Have a great day….Cheers CB!

    NMS

Anvil was shut down temporarily at the start of the lockdown and this was the first day of its reopening. With Christmas being so close a themed workout seem to be warranted. There are few things that make YHC happier than hearing the PAX complain about how hard the workout is, your tears are like fine wine to him. YHC also realizes that his language has gotten a little rough in the last month or two, for that he apologizes and will try to do better.

As always it was an honor to lead

  • Anvil Tomato Run

What do you get when you combine an Army and Marine Vet? A beast 3 mile run followed by a 2 mile cool down. We ran the farmhouse loop in Kings Charter. It was very humid but cool and at Mile 3 we slowed down to a fast walk for the remaining workout. See the splits below… fun run and recovery walk with great 2nd F mumble chatter this morning.

SYITG Cheers from CB and BH

  • Inaugural Daville 35

12 Davillians (11 + 1 honorary member) verged on the grounds of the Rutland clubhouse parking lot for a great alternative to the Colonial 70.

    This how it when down

Setup: 4 teams arrived at the parking lot at 4:30am, setup camp, warmed up, and got instructions from YHC on the 35 mile race.

    THANG

There were 4 teams of 3 runners. Each runner would completed two loops (6.2 miles & 5.5 miles) in a relay style race.

    Routes

Loop #1 – 6.2 miles (10K) took the runners over the fly over to service road around and behind Atlee HS. Then into Honey Meadows and around the trail. Finally back the same way then around the Bojangles loop

Loop #2 – 5.5 miles took the runners around the Rutland Neighborhood into Knollwood for a loop and a hill. Out of Knollwood into Cool Spring West for a loop around that trail. Out and back to Rutland passing the parking lot to the Bojangles loop

    MOLESKIN

What a great CSAUP!! The PAX crushed their projected times with every team finishing in less than 5 hours. Team Trailblazers lead the way after time penalty was add to another team (more that later). Here were the results

    • Team Trailblazers (Marco Polo, Pavarotti, Helix) – 4:45:10
    • Team The Rat Pack (Faceplant, Corned Beef, Trout) – 4:46:20
    • Team United Nations (The Carpenter, Spit, Bulkhead) – 4:46:35
    • Team Alpha Omega (Sludge, Opus, Glide) – 4:57:20

The Rat Pack had to take a unfortunate time penalty since Corned Beef didn’t take the correct turn on his 2nd run.

    A few highlights:

    • Faceplant to the title for the fastest 10k with a 44:25
    • Several PAX set PR’s on their 10k including YHC (47:34)
    • Thanks to Luggie who was our runner support on bike
    • “The Returners” (last year’s Colonial team) show what they learned from last year by prepping wiser.
    • The whole race felt like a competition with all team at one point within 5 minutes of each other and three time finishing within a minute and half.

Final Thoughts – This was fun, challenging, and up lifting. The PAX is already looking forward to do it again soon!

    SPIT ON THAT!!

  • A drunk guy and a rainbow

The dynamic musical duo showed up this morning to take on the day the right way.

    Mosey to the blacktop

COP — SSH, Copperhead Squats, Sumo Squat Jumps, LBC’s, AM ham, heels to heaven, freddies, dying cockroach

The Hundred — Pilates move where legs are up, back is a little elevated, press arms up and down beside you for 100 counts.

    Quick sprints
1/4, 1/2, 3/4, full distance, 3/4, 1/2, 1/4 — run forward, Bernie Sanders on the way back each time

    A few Ladders
1 SSH, 1 Merkin — all the way to 10 of each
1 WW2, 1 am ham — all the way to 10 of each
1 dip, 1 incline merkin — all the way to 10 of each
1 2 ct split jack, 1 lunge — all the way to 10 of each
1 dying cockroach, 1 reverse cruch — all the way to 10 of each

10 minutes of burpees!! — pick a number between 6 and 10 — do that many burpees in a minute — if you finish early, that is the amt of time you have to rest

    40 seconds of plank

Names Numbers, Announcements, YHC took us out

NMS — On our first short run, we noticed another guy coming toward us with something in his hand — later we noticed it was in a brown bag and the guy was definitely walking and talking and he seemed more than a little drunk. He asked us a question about what we were doing — not sure how we responded — he said something about falling and getting a bad spot on his leg from the fall. He continued on and we watched as we did our COP to make sure he was okay (and he didn’t try to go for one of our cars). He disappeared into the trees on the other side of the AO. Back in the day, YHC might have made fun of someone like that. Now, YHC just has pity on a guy who is obviously trying to cope with some pain in his life by drinking his sorrow away. YHC wonders what kind of pain he was dealing with — a bad breakup, loss of job, loss of a loved one, etc. At the end of the workout, Mr Holland noticed a rainbow in the sky — it was pretty bright — the rainbow was a promise from God, a symbol of hope for something better on the horizon. YHC is hopeful that the guy staggering around this morning has some glimmer of hope that today will be better than yesterday. YHC knows that a little hope can go a long way.
