North on Commonwealth and east on Monument. 4s turn on the Blvd, 5s on Meadow, and 6s on Lombardy, with all going to Grove and home.

    Yep, its that simple.

    Swirly took us out.

Congratulations to Hitchhiker in his pursuit of knowledge.

Our thoughts and prayers go to Doublemint’s family.

    NMS

Plenty of mumble chatter today with this crew. Maybe the weather made them frisky or perhaps the presence of a FNG. Either way, good to catch up with folks and spawn a good backlist title.

  • Modified TYA Route

13 PAX showed up for RAMM this morning–seven PAX launched the reverse Patterson route at 5AM. Here is the 4 milers, 5 milers, and 6 milers’ route.

All turn right on Hamilton to Grove and back to the VSF.

    Bodos took us out.

    Have a great weekend everyone!

  • Terrapin Station

14 runners and several bikers assembled for some miles on the road. Here is what happened, more or less.

West on Grove turning right on the access road in front of St Stephens. A right on York and a left on Maple. 4s turn right on Patterson and home via Westmoreland. 5s/6s continue on until Monument and turn right. 5s turn on Westmoreland and 6s on Lafayette to return home.

    Flatline took us out today.

    Moleskin

Ample conversation today about a variety of topics. Mumble chatter is always strong on the runs.

  • Long Term Effects

It was dark, windy, and rainy on the outside, but on the inside it was sunny and 70. An elite crew launched at 530 and off we went.

4 and 5 mile routes were called as there were no 6s today.

Head east on Grove and hang a left on Roseneath all the way to Scott’s Addition.

4s turn around at Veil and head west on Broad, taking a left on Malvern to Grove and home.

5s continue on Roseneath taking a right on Moore taking in a tour of the breweries and BBQ establishments. Take a right on the Blvd and a right on Grove to home.

    YHC took us out.

    Announcements:

BRR – The idea is out there, inquire with TYA for details if interested.

    Moleskin

Swiper told an annecdote of “long term effects” and it resonnated in several ways. First, long term is highly relative based on perspective and age. Second, there are often negative connotations associated with the phrase “long term effects”. However, we must be mindful that there is also the ability to promote a positive long term effect.

How will you go forward making your own positive long term effects today?

  • Dead Duck Belly Up, Rainbows, and Sunrises

A mighty 11 arose for the first warm day of the year, more or less. Off we went east on Grove and hung a left on Malvern and a left on West Franklin.

Go until Franklin intersects Willow Lawn Dr and take a left followed by a right on Patterson. 4s turn on Granite, 5s on Maple, and 6s on St Chris, making their way back to Grove and the SF. 5s and 6s take a lap around the school to get the full miles in.

    Upchuck took us out.

    Moleskin

There were accounts of plenty of mumble chatter this morning with Upchuck providing others feedback that they were “chatty”. Oyster is available to teach parking lessons for empty parking lots and Bodo’s has a great rule for determining how to dress to workout.

Interesting sites along the route – a dead mallard duck on the side of Grove. How did it get there? Was it crossing the road or taken on the wing? It remains a mystery.

To the east we were pleased with a perfect inspiring sunrise. Following the COT, we turned west and were surprised with this rainbow. A glorious morning!

  • Poetic License

    Seventeen runners in the gloom

Off they went with a zoom

    Westwardly down Grove to Wilton

Heading toward the sounds of train and river

Wilton House, Kenmore, and up Ampthill

Around the Crescent to TYA’s ‘hood

Down and up the hills, the elevation changes

Meeting the rising sun climbing Pocahontas

Back to Grove for some, while others transversed Windsor

Thoughtful words by Swirly sent us on our way

  • Cartographer’s Block

A very lucky 13 came out to hit the roads. The weather was awesome and the mumble chatter keeps on flowing as the miles pass.

YHC admits that he didn’t have a creative route in mind. Instead I went with simplicity.

West on Grove, right on Maple, East on Patterson. 4s turn on Sauer, 5s on Hamilton, and 6s on Cleveland with all returning via Grove.

    YHC took us out.

  • Roll Your Own II

Six runners tested the roads and departed the AO for a morning run.

TYA and Swirl took the long route.

Saab may have taken the scheduled Lockjaw route – Commonwealth, Monument west, Chantilly, Patterson east, Willow Lawn, Grove home (or something like that)

Corned Beef, Singer and Hash ran the YoYo route with a few added measures to total 4 and a quarter.

Roads were fine, but there were several significant weather related incidents during the run – downed tree/large branch falling on or near Grove, and a transformer or two blowing up to light up the sky and echo across the otherwise soundless landscape.

Apologies to Lockjaw but only the 5 mile route was conveyed to Saab so YHC, knowing he wouldn’t be running with Saab and had to mathematically deduce the 4 mile route, opted for a known commodity closer to the AO. Good chatting with Beef and Hash.

Saab took us out with a thoughtful reminder that we have the choice to suffer in these colder conditions, but others do not.

(Saab, were you the Q or me?)

  • Like a Yo-Yo

While witnessing falling branches and blown-transformers, a half a dozen knuckleheads braved the unpleasantness and took in various routes and distances.

Thoughts for the day: While we chose to face adversity this morning and push ourselves through unpleasant conditions, many in this country are facing far worse – and not by their choosing. Let’s keep them in mind and be thankful for what we have.
