  • 2 times Respect equals 100

A couple old dudes broke out their high speed walkers to hit the streets of River Run

YHC remembered a route from a summer or two ago that went out around JRHS way take a right at the light and stay on Robious until the last turnaround before 288 then head back and loop through JRHS again. Try not to get hit by a car.

Basic 2.5 mile down and back with a very deceptive / sneaky elevation change for a total of 5 miles

Great time spent with Doublemint and averaged about 9 minute miles maybe a little faster

  • River Run Reverso

Two gloom warriors shed the fartsack this morning to run by (sort of) the river – here’s how it went:

4 mile Reverse Tarrington: up Twin Team, along Old Powderham, across Robious to Tarrington entrance, along Ashwell and the Ashwell Loop, right on Sherford and BTTF for some Old Man Stretches.

Numbers, names, YHC took us out.

NMMS: many thanks to Boberry for the company and wise counsel during our run. It’s always a privilege to start the day with you HIMs.

    Make it a great one!

  • We didn’t expect anyone else to show up

3 figure skaters showed up to River Run trying not to catch a toe pick on the slick streets of the River Downs Route. What was not announced was a behind the scenes text string between YHC and Doublemint deciding to do a Ruck rather than a run just to avoid the old people breaking a hip. Boberry showed up out of the blue expecting to run, Doublemint surrendered his Ruck sack to Boberry and a Ruck was had.

According to the GPS watch on Doublemints arm 3.9 miles was made by a trip starting at BWES, down through the JRHS loop into River Downs, left up the big hill down just before Gumbo’s cul-de-sac take a right back out to the back side of the JRHS loop. Into BWES through the old track BTTF

Numbers / Names YHC took us out

HDHH February 2nd starting at 6:00 Location: the new Midlothian Triple Crossing please bring your M (there is also a food menu)

  • Twin Team/Tarrington Tour de Reverse

A trio of SOJ studs posted to River Run to start their week right. Here’s how it went down/up:

    Reverse Tarrington:

    • 4s – BWES to Twin Team Hill, cross Robious and enter Tarrington at Ashwell, run the loop and BTTF.
    • Doozy – As above, but keep circling back to pick up the sixes

Numbers, names, YHC took us out.

Prayers for all struggling with COVID, and for the families with kids starting back at school and college. TAPs!

NMMS: When Doozy says “I’m going to take it slow today,” he means a 7:30 pace. Singer, thanks for the company while we watched the neon-legged jackrabbit dwindle into the distance ….

  • Actually, downhill into the wind was worse …

A grizzled fifty-something, with more subcutaneous bodyfat than sense, rolled into Bettie Weaver ES to see what the day would bring. Survey says ….. rain, sleet and a big &#%@ hill.

Up Twin Team, right onto E. Brigstock, turn at 22:00 and BTTF. My slow-ass pace made the 4 mi route more of a 3 mi one , but hey — me vs. me.

NMMS: I really didn’t want to post today. Like, REALLY didn’t want to post, despite the 70 degree and sunny conditions. But I need the miles and I need the self discipline. And man oh man that coffee tasted good once I got home. And at least I wasn’t doing burpees in this stuff like Bodos, Handshake and the other eight knuckleheads who posted for Hoedown.

    Ride for the brand, caballeros!

  • Murph 2021

5 brave souls braved the last day of 2021 to take on Murph!

Mossy around the school and the track for a mile to get to the main playground.

10 rounds of the below with each round consisting of the following exercises.

    • 10 pullups
    • 20 Merkins
    • 30 squats

After we completed the 10 rounds we headed back to the parking lot with the normal stop at the track to make sure we got the full mile in.  Total millage equaled 2 miles with a nice little beat-down in the middle.

Strong work for all that showed up and look forward to 2022 full year of the Murph on the last Friday of each month.

  • Swamp Striders

YHC felt the need for speed (sort of) today, so River Run featured a jaunt to the JRHS track for some striders. Here’s how it went:

1/2 mi mosey to the track

1 mi strider; fast on the turns, slower on the straights

    1/4 mi recovery

1 mi strider; fast on the straights, slower on the turns

    1/4 mi recovery

1 mi strider; slow to fast on each lap

    1/2 mi mosey BTTF

NMMS: Thank you, member of the JRHS custodial staff who left the men’s room unlocked. You averted disaster.

  • Easy like [Mon]day morning …

A post-Sunday Funday yoga mishap left YHC with a gimpy lower back, right about where the tramp stamp would go. Instead of making things worse with a trip up Twin Team hill, YHC decided to head to the Swamp for some active-recovery laps around the track.

    Make it a great one!

  • Clampdown

    Clampdown

    A. banger from The Clash’s seminal 1979 album London Calling

    B. Zara White’s signature move in Buttman’s European Vacation

    C. pretty decent F3 name

    D. YHC’s isometric gluteal workout for the last 2 miles of the run

    Answer: All of the above.

OG Tarrington route today — things got dicey there in the end. So to speak.

    Make it a great one!

  • In Through The Out Door

The OG Tarrington route is one of YHC’s favorites, and today seemed like a good day to run it in reverse.

BWES to Twin Team Hill, cross Robious and enter Tarrington at Ashwell, run the loop and BTTF.
