  • Up the Hill — One Step at a Time

Two studs shed the fartsack today and posted at River Run to see what the morning held; here’s how it went down (and up):

Right out of the Bettie Weaver ES parking lot and cross Robious

Left at the path and up Twin Team Hill

Right onto Brigstock — at 22:00 minutes turn and BTTF

Numbers, names, YHC took us out.

Tclaps to the runners who recently completed (respectively) the Grand Canyon rim-to-rim and the Petersburg half; prayers and support for those about to undertake the Roanoke half this Saturday.

NMMS: It was great to meet Soul Train, who has jumped into F3 with both feet. Coffeteria after with Don Draper, Fresh Prince, and Tryhard. Sometimes the biggest achievement is just taking that next step… and then the next ….

    Make it a great one!

    Doublemint

  • Nice and easy run

With YHC’s normal partner in crime (Doublemint) out on vaca this AM and a half Marathon on the books for this Saturday in Petersburg a nice and easy (little higher pace) 2 to 3 miler was planned. YHC didn’t plan on a hill getting in the way but because it was a shorter than normal run it probably was a good thing.

From BWES back to Terrington take a right at the circle and climb, take a left and climb, take a right and continue to climb. Cross Robious and down Twin Team to finish

  • Senior Moment…

Two old dudes ran the Reverse Tarrington route and flapped their gums about kids today, bum knees and high fiber diets. One old dude forgot to post the backblast for a few days. It happens …

  • Just me and my thoughts

Uno post for River Rum this morning, the route was River Down via JRHS

  • Gran Tour-ino

Two old dudes shook off their respective vacations with a slow mosey around the Swamp (4x), down to the Robious boat landing, and up around Bettie Weaver ES for some cool down laps. Problems were solved and sage advice was doled out. ‘Nuff said.

  • River to River route

If 1 runner runs in the Gloom does it make a sound?

From BWES to the river back up through JRHS once around the track out to River Downs back out and once around the track through JRHS down to the river and back to BWES.

    About 7 miles

  • Flatty’s Not-So-Flat Route

Two jackrabbits and a clydesdale gathered in the gloom of the Bettie Weaver ES parking lot. Under the most recent guidance, the run was speed-optional. Here’s how it went –

The Flatline Special: BWES, cross Robious, up Twin Team , right on East Brigstock and keep going – at 22:30 turn around and BTTF. 4.5 miles for YHC; your mileage may vary.

Numbers, names, YHC took us out.

NMMS: it‘s always a pleasure to run with Doozy and Boberry, and YHC was glad to see their headlamps coming back for the 6 as YHC finally crested the summit of Twin Team. I think therees a lesson in there somewhere. 😉

    Make it a great one!

  • Just a couple miles

2 50+ men took to the mean streets of Midlothian to see who else wanted to rumble on a 70 and sunny morning. Surprisingly enough there wasn’t another sole in sight at 5:30 except for the cafeteria lady and we all know Doublemint and YHC are together not man enough to fight with her.

First to the river and back up through JRHS and once around the track, across to River Downs up the big hill and around the back side. Back around the JRHS track and BTTF for right at 6 miles @ 9:05 pace according to Doublemint and his fancy watch.

    Numbers / Names

Running through River Downs and pointing out the houses that I know are lawyers, Doublemint seems to know them all and has at one time done some work with them. YHC seems to be stuck on 6 miles, I know its time to get out and add a couple more to the total but I can’t stand the cold anymore.

  • 40 for 40

To commemorate the forthcoming decade of silence, YHC held a 40 for 40 at The Swamp (the track at James River HS). 40 laps for each wonderful year of life. No warm up, just run. 40 laps. Go.

Donuts from Boberry and coffeerama from DTH for some extra socialization. What an incredible way to start another wonderful year.

  • 2 times Respect equals 100

A couple old dudes broke out their high speed walkers to hit the streets of River Run

YHC remembered a route from a summer or two ago that went out around JRHS way take a right at the light and stay on Robious until the last turnaround before 288 then head back and loop through JRHS again. Try not to get hit by a car.

Basic 2.5 mile down and back with a very deceptive / sneaky elevation change for a total of 5 miles

Great time spent with Doublemint and averaged about 9 minute miles maybe a little faster
