  • Run/Ruck in the Rain

Five locals attended what was intended to be a momentarily dry outing that turned into a wet morning at River Run.

Runners – run to boat landing and back to BWE bus loop, rinse and repeat once, add the street across the school for the 4 mile route. Ruckers did pretty much the same route.

Good run/ruck gents. Thanks to the ruckers who decided to make a morning of it. Nostalgia got the best of the pax with older children, elf on the shelf chores broke it all up. Doozie slept in, kind of.

  • Lets take is easy

Sunday night a warning shot was fired that Wedding Singer would not be running. 5:30 and the only 2 standing watch are Bullseye and YHC

After a bit of discussion an easy route was requested and YHC thought why not go through Terrington (via a visit to the park first) but stay on the high side of the pool house. Note to self, the POOL HOUSE is smack dab in the middle of the hill. All the way to Robious, cross to the opposite side where we no longer have to look for a clearing due to some tree removal. Down Twin Team around by James River HS and BTTF

NMS: It seamed like it would be flat at the time YHC said it, sorry Bullseye.

  • Where did he come from and where did he go

3 RR Regulars picked up a hitchhiker on the frosty roads of Salisbury

5:30 PAX of 3 set out to climb Twin Team and head out E Brigstock for out and back

Along the way YHC was just a bit ahead of Singer and Bullseye when a lone runner going the opposite direction passed. As usual YHC said good morning but didn’t hear a response, not unusual for 27 degrees and before 6 A.M. however when YHC turned back to meet up with the other two, the PAX had grown from 2 to 3 and the familiar voice of Don Draper was heard. Once the 22.5 minute mark was hit the group turned and head BTTF. It was on the other side of Robious that YHC was told that DD had vanished in much the same way he had appeared. This reminded YHC that there is a beast that lurks the area of Twin Team that has not been seen in quite some time……..

NMS: Stay tuned, we may have to go on a beast hunt to find DD

  • Run with heavy hearts

4.5 mile run around Weaver, through River Downs North, and into. Stone Harbor. Out and back.

Tough conversations this morning. Singer lost a friend, Andrew, this weekend after a long fight with cancer. Prayers for Andrew’s wife and 3 children. Prayers for Singer as well.

  • Easy does it

5 Easy ridders drove into River Run to see what was the flattest easy post half marathon route YHC could come up with.

BWES to Robious, take a right past the new Wawa to the bridge before 288 reverso left at the JRHS baseball fields and the back way to BWES and around the school to get 4 miles. OC did his own thing with a weighted vest, PAX caught up with him coming out of the Gloom wearing all black and having no light. He just appeared like out of a bad horror movie from the mid 90’s.

Numbers / Names House Party took us out

NMS: YHC needed something light after a good weekend half marathon. That was the last race of the year for many of us, thanks to all the guys that have posted, encouraged and ran with YHC along the way. This year YHC completed 4 half marathons (5 if you include the Home Grown) along with Gypsy, we will be starting back up again in February if anyone is interested.

  • Three Men and a Rucker

Four southsiders arrived at BWE to discuss routes and off to Powderham we went.

4s – Twin Team to Caward, loop around Powderham, right on Ellesmere to Brigstock and back. Doozy added some extra out and backs with the 4s.

    Don’t get lost.

    OC rucked. His foot hurts.

Good time gents, keep after it. Thanks to the Vets. Prayers for those in need.

  • The Wolf Pack

3 HIM showed up to River Run for chilly morning run. Doozy gave his disclaimer that he would be leaving us in the dust and to not wait around for him for COT. With no route mapped out YHC and Lone Wolf decided to use our go-to plan, which is to just run around somewhere for 45 minutes until we make it back to the flag. Mission accomplished.

Prayers for Wedding Singer and his recovery from surgery

What a beautiful morning! With the cooler temps its been a struggle getting out of bed. I also think to myself sometimes that, hey, other guys will be there, they wont miss me. But what if all the Pax thought that way? The AO’s would be empty and guys would be posting alone. It would have been a lonely morning for one of us had Lone Wolf or I had not shown up for one another. This morning really made me think about how we not only show up for ourselves and and families, but for that guy standing right next to you. Its been great really getting to know Lone Wolf and on top of all that I had the privilage of celebrating his birthday with him this morning.

    Happy Birthday Brother!

  • No rest for the weary

It was a basic triple check at River Run this morning. Each of us thinking they were the only ones that where going to be there this morning, surprised by the fact that the other showed up. YHC had just run a half marathon on Saturday and Singer has surgery around 8:30 today.

The PAX of 3 decided it would be best if we kept it short and flat, the route started as down to the river up to James River HS, right on Robious. Bullseye suggested a turn into River Downs North and the trail at the back which brought us out to Robious landing again.

All in all we got in 4 miles

Numbers / Names Bullseye took us out

NMS: The topics this morning were distance running and being able to carry on a conversation while training. Kids activities, parents that let their kids drink, RV parks / Halloween and last but not least that catch in the endzone for Washington this weekend. Topic not necessarily in that order.

  • Flat route at River Run

Headed left out of Weaver and looped through JRHS back to Robious. Right into Riverdowns North, left on Forest Creek, and another left on Lenox Forest. Cross Robious into Kings Farm. Turn around at Riverdowns South, just before hitting roller coaster, and reverse back to Weaver.

4+ total. Doozy hung with us while tapering for another half this weekend. Good luck Doozy.

    Good conversations this morning.

Prayers and quick healing for Singer as he heads into surgery on his elbow next week.

  • It’s just one hill, right?

YHC and House Party arrived at River Run with no others and no Q, so YHC had the bright idea to run the old Terrington route. It is just one hill but it’s a long hill that never seams to end. Cross Robious, down Twin Team, through the JRHS lot and BTTF circle the school to make it a 4 mile run.

Numbers / Names YHC took us out

NMS: With the Holiday weekend the numbers where probably small at most AO’s. I’m glad House Party showed up because at least 2 need to share in that kind of suckyness.
