Old Stony Point ruck

  • Ruckhenge 040826

5 of F3’s pax gathered at EB’s for the latest edition of Ruckhenge. The brisk morning called for some extra activities just to get the temp up. Started with 1.2 mi ruck to the Stony Point Fashion Park lot where we then prepped for a brief series of EMOMs to hit some differnt body parts.

Station 1: 0.5 mi run and timer ~ 5 mins (sans ruck)

Station 2: Farmers carry with ruck in each hand ~ 1 min

    Station 3: Merkins (sans ruck)~ 1 min

Station 4: Hamstring walkout ~1 min

    Station 5: Squats (with ruck)~ 1 min

Time was marching on so we hit the trails of Lazarus Park for the 1.3 mi trip home.

Welcome back to Heizenberg and thanks for joing this morning. Coffeeteria was focused on “toughening” what we all do in F3 but perhaps dont think about in other aspects of life as much. The idea that no stress or difficulty is as unhealthy as too much. Facing adversity and challenge builds us into stronger more resilient humans.

Announcements: 2 off the books opportunites to ruck and get stronger this weekend.

    1: Leaving Einsteins Bagels ~ 4pm, 4/11/26 (Saturday) and heading to Machismo’s Castle, bootcamp & logs followed by 2nd F before return to EB’s ~ 8pm

2: Family Ruck & Pizza (~60-90mins) start and finish at Bottoms up Pizza – 4pm, 4/12/26 (Sunday)

Prayers: Dr. Tryhard heading out on mission. NTB took us out.

  • #493 on April Fools

Celebrating the countdown to 500 Q’s, YHC led a motivated 6 HIM’s on a high speed trek through Larus to some new ground on the other side of Chippenham. We braved walking across a large tree trunk to traverse the ranging torrents of a river (tiny creek), and L Woods managed to find a muddy spot with one foot. The topic of discussion for the morning was “Meeting” (Q1.8 of the QSource). In this Easter season, the PAX joined YHC in looking to JESUS as the best-ever HIM, and considered how we might follow His example in self-sacrifice for others. All for Him, ~DTH

This is the power of Faith and the secret sauce to why F3 is an Effective Organization. The Joy of forgetting oneself in service of another surpasses all understanding. It is the foundation of Hope.

  • Divorce Lawyers with Merch

A fabulous five took a break from their typical Olympic gymnastics training to don their rucks for another round of Ruckhenge! As we began our journey we were overtaken by YHC’s coworker who opted to continue her run rather than stop and listen to a bunch of dudes talk about aliens, middle fingers, and all the other crazy things the kids learn in second grade these days. We kept the route flat and fast as we trekked approximately a three mile loop around Stony Point mall. Great conversation was had by all, several of the world’s problems were solved, but alas nobody wrote anything down of merit.

Back to the flag with the same crew that started the morning where we definitely answered the question, “do you have to get divorced to receive a Brooks and Baez sweatshirt?”…yes. A serious auto accident also qualifies.

  • The Mexican Fisherman

On YHC’s 38th birthday, there was a return of winter to RVA as temperatures hovered around 30. Despite this, we had a strong crew to start the day. We rucked to Bon Iron and got to work. rucks held overhead doing laps around the playground while cycling 38 squats, 38 single-count lunges, and 38 step-ups. From there, we cut over to Logan and Burrough and kept it moving, with DTH making his appearance fashionably late as we ended back at Einstein’s. Discussion of the Mexican Fisherman parable was woven throughout the workout and carried into Coffeerama, a reminder to be intentional about what we’re building and not just grind endlessly without purpose. Grateful for another year and this crew.

    Announcements:

  • Don’t stay home this time

6 studs showed up in the gloom to move some weight. With the Pax unknowingly jamming to 311 on 3/11, we set off to YHC’s neck of the woods.

Route: From Einstein’s, cross Huguenot, past the library and bon iron, through the woods and onto the tracks, past the goats and the G-wagon (with trailer!) to YHC’s Casa for some brief stretch. Grab cindies and take the long way back to Einstein’s via McRae. See map in comments.

With the few extra minutes knock out some step-ups onto the cindies.

  • Make Einstein’s Great Again

A magnificent seven stomped through the damp trails of Larus park and up into the northern neighborhoods for nearly a 3.5mile loop. Packs weighed in anywhere between 30-50lbs.

YHC posed the following two questions to the PAX for our ruck and coffeerama:

    1. What trait from your family’s past are you determined to stop?
    2. What positive habit or trait are you determined to start and pass on to your kids?

The PAX brought it with their answers. YHC has definitely noticed deeper levels of sharing and support with one another since the AO started, for which I am very grateful.

YHC was also very pleased to see that Einstein Bagel has embraced the MEGA movement and is committed to once again opening on time. Next step, have bagels made on time.

    Announcements:

    1. March 7th – Service opportunity and OTB ruck. Contact L Woods or DTH for details.
    2. GROWRUCK Blue Ridge – September – Early bird pricing ends 2/28.
    3. YHC took us out, grateful that we have a community where men of all backgrounds can belong and be known.

  • not all who wander are lost

The balmy gloom of Larus (aka Lazarus) Park welcomed a 10 PAX of ruck lovers to trail blaze some new ground and enjoy a wide range of topics on our 3 mile jaunt, some off trail, some on. Sandy (60#) accompanied our adventures and was shared among YHC, L Woods, Sable, and Snip. Our FNG for this morning is Snip’s brother in law who enjoys bourbon and will be hiking 47 peaks with Snip this summer – welcome STAG! Great discussion at Einstein after including the concept of a Shield Lock. Snip’s apt summary was that a man on his own is a danger to himself and others. Until next time brothers. Yours AYE! ~DTH

  • E Pluribus Unum

As Richmond thawed from its recent Ice Age, ten HIMs emerged from the thaw to do something hard. YHC aimed for Cedar Grove Cemetery, though time kept us shy at 3.6 miles at a fairly brisk pace.

Post-ruck at Coffeerama, we leaned into an article entitled “Love your Enemies; How to Get Past America’s Divided Culture of Contempt”. The theme carried into our chatter: how we show unity in the face of disagreement, one step at a time.

    Announcements:

    • Frozen Triangle rescheduled: February 21st.
    • Latinos en Virginia Food Distribution: March 7th, 10–1 (Setup at 9 am)
    • Off-the-books ruck with DTH: March 7th afternoon.
    • GrowRuck: September 25–27.

    Out of many, one.

  • No Trespassing?

6 men met to traverse some of the less explored terrain of Bon-Airs streets. No trespassing, and no bundu bashing (look it up) occurred. Sometimes its good to just stick to the roads well traveled, though that was questionable too. Great to connect over a soggy trek on what seemed like an unusually warm morning. We did add in a quicker section to give everyone a sense of what dealer has in store for the Frozen Triangle this Saturday. Get ready!

See everyone at Dogpile on Saturday at 0600.
