Old Stony Point ruck

  • Jaunt to the James

Ruckhenge was swarmed by an enthusiastic dozen SOJ brothers and the PAX was launched into a speed ruck by YHC with nary a log or sandbag in sight – just a goal to reach the James and swap interesting life stories. The PAX covered 3.4 miles with a respectable altitude difference. T Claps to Armadillo making it back out for the second time in his first week! Yours AYE! ~DTH

The THANG: 9 setout from Einstein’s at 5:00. Headed past the library into the Woodmont neighborhood. Roughly halfway through the Ruck the PAX arrived at Dead Man’s Hill. The PAX sprinted up a few times with rucks prior to retracing our steps BTTF for a perfect 6:00 arrival.

  • Open To All Men

Following a suggestion from DTH, the YHC took our merry crew of 9 HIMS into the neighborhood, spending the opening portion of the workout distributing NOS flyers throughout Bon Air.

Along the route, we stopped at various intervals for squats, walking lunges, ruck curls and merkins.

As we went deeper east into the various neighborhoods, some of the PAX raised concerns regarding the clock. YHC confidently assured everyone we had plenty of time. That assessment proved to be… optimistic.

As the workout progressed, it became increasingly apparent that our margin for error had disappeared somewhere between the curls and the last neighborhood loop. The result became a couple of series of “everyone sprint so we don’t finish late.”

Mumble chatter was strong throughout. Discussion topics included the design of a hypothetical F3 parade float, what an F3-themed Speedo would look like, and the wisdom of including “open to all men” on said Speedo. Thankfully, no final design was approved.

Finally, we have a couple of hundred of flyers for our microregion printed. We can order more on Vistaprint. If you’d like to hand some out at a block party, church etc. please message DTH or myself. We’ve got great momentum with new guys and need to keep it up!

  • Handshake’s Sack

9 gloom ruckers launched at 0500 into Larus park for an hour ruck, while our 10th PAX missed the launch and enjoyed a Triple Respect solo ruck. The PAX equally shared around SANDY during the ruck, our beloved 60# sandbag, but with some very awkward hand-offs, the most awkward being between Nancy and Handshake. Nancy said something about his sack on Handshakes neck and our 1st F Q fired back something about his sack on Nancy’s mom. You had to be there… 😆 After a full loop through Larus with plenty of hills we exited onto Sabot school property and then rucked beyond to Love Hill. Mosey down, Bernie back up, and plank it up review of the F3 Mission, Credo, and five Core Principles. Re-shoulder Sandy and ruck BTTF to discover PIGSKIN awaiting. Thanks for letting me lead brothers. Yours AYE! ~DTH

Seven eager ruckers gathered at EB’s on a slightly damp June morning. Backdraft brought an FNG—Tinder, who is also his son. Welcome Tinder (fire-starter). The route for the day was a RH classic with some time spent on the red/green blaze trail of Larus Park before traversing the Chippenham tunnel to loop around Stoney Point fashion park for a brisk 3.1 mile trip. Thanks for joining.

  • Stairway to…Bon Air???

13 able bodied studs set-off promptly at 5am from Einsteins.

We found stairs near the pool and St. Michaels and did 4 reps on each set of stairs.

BTTF for numbers/names, announcements (see slack), and prayer requests (Dealer’s knee).

Was a nice large crew today. Enjoyed traversing Bon Air, finding a few hills and stairs in the process, and waving to Bronco’s sleeping family.

  • Logarithmic Gloomventures

A handsome SIX-PAX of SOJ ruck studs joined forces to conquer the latest stretch of track on the DTH pain train, this time accompanied by the F3-emblazoned 8’ 100# spruce log that we haven’t formally named yet, but PAX seem to mutter all kids of name suggestions when holding her…

NMS:  What an awesome way to start the day. YHC was super pumped to welcome BRONCO to the RVA GrowRuck platoon and introduce him to log carries, and during the course of the workout SCRAM decided he loved log carries so much he also HC’d to register – which he did today! He’s also quietly stated he’s just gonna be happy to have the DTH monkey off his back. 😝 Solid work by all the PAX and great coffeerama conversation after. Yours AYE! ~DTH

  • To The Library………And Beyond

8 PAX braved the mean streets of Bon Air this morning. We followed a meticulously planned route, and all made it back alive and relatively healthy. The journey kicked off with a stop at the Bon Air Library for some ruck grip strength carries, overhead carries, and walking overhead presses. The route took us through the neighborhood in the general direction of YHC’s house. With 30 minutes to spare, we stopped and did some Don Quixote’s, then held plank while discussing the F3 mission and credo. The PAX made the final push back and were all to happy to complete 3 minutes of overtime.

COT followed by coffee at Einstein Bagels. It was great to see some new faces out! As always, it was honor to lead.

8 men and a baby met at Einstein for the most recent edition of RH. We saddled up with our rucks, a sandy (and a baby) before heading out for the hills of SP. Goal was for the man under the sandy to accumulate 40 reps (10 x squats, lunges overhead presses and upright rows or alternates) before switching out. We also attempted to move as quickly as we could at each hill we came to or changed it up with a Bernie to hit the quads a little differently. DTH was briefly excited as we came to a dead end street that looked like an entry way into the woods. Next time.

Announcements: Farewell bash for the NTBs at DTH’s Casa Saturday 4pm.

Flatlines Q and Bon Iron to take place at Dogpile this Saturday @ 6am.

Latinos in VA Empowerment Center: food distribution and community resources Saturday, June 13 10am-1pm. See slack for additional details.

Prayer requests: Rodeo Clown’s friend recently passed away in a climbing accident in Nepal. She will be missed by friends and family, but was “doing what she loved” RIP.

  • Back On the Ruck Train

The cure for a couple weeks of light attendance? Throw your name on the Q sheet! YHC had the pleasure of leading five PAX through the mean streets of Bon Air for a 3.5mile ruck this morning. We stomped through some familiar streets, behind a couple of schools, and right past Casa de Snuff, all the while talking life, new babies, and emotional intelligence.

We made it back to the flag with five minutes to spare so we worked in a few rounds of ab exercises and ruck farmers carry.
