  • Baby Satan Awakens

    The Village next door was quiet—until 7 HIMs laced up and ran it awake. We circled up, knocked out a light jog and stretch, and then went straight to work.

    The Thang:

    • Run through the wood to the village to get the blood moving.
    • Merkin Madness – regular, wides, and diamonds.
    • Core Crusher – freddies, hammers, leg lifts, flutters. HIMs groaned, but we kept the rhythm.
    • Another Run into the Shoulder Tear Series – arm lifts, low lifts, apple pickers.
    • Run + Baby Satan Hill – sprints that left no man questioning why the hill got its name over at the village.
    • More mountain climbers and side-straddle hops, sprinkled with more running.
    • Closed strong with burpees, another run, and—you guessed it—more burpees.

    Mumble Chatter: Even Cpt Kirk admitted it had been a minute since he’d taken a beatdown like that. He kept stressing he couldn’t disclose his profession… oh snap—do we have a spook in the PAX? 👀

    COT: Grateful for the early morning iron sharpening iron. The Village won’t forget who woke it up today.


  • Satan’s Hill (Quad Killing Edition)

    As I watched Tua hand the game to Buffalo, I pondered what today’s beatdown should be. Help Matlock run 8 miles? Break out the cornhole boards? YHC landed somewhere in-between…however waking up and recovering from yesterday’s IPC, my quads were feeling the pain. Too bad, the show must go on!

    12 HIMs began to mosey, then Hermey showed up in a SmartCar and we took off for an indian run to a cul-de-sac hidden in darkness so we could admire the stars. Quick count showed 12 HIMs made it, so Nancy and Mudslide launched a Saving Private Hermey rescue mission while we warmed up.

    FNG – Oops
    John D. (Dunningham, Dunnington!?) is Wildcat’s neighbor and came out for the first of many F3 posts today! Glad to have you out there. He has lived in Midlothian for 15+ years but is new to New Market and will soon find out what type of riff-raff he has surrounded himself with. He is a lawyer and Matlock immediately went in for the bromance. I assume John D. spends most of his day sending harassing/dad-tone emails about coin appraisals…but I digress. Searching for ideas, we asked about first concert and the PAX got excited to learn that in the second grade he went to see Britney Spears. Great options were thrown out, but as a John who is an Eagles fan, one rose above the rest.

  • The Pink Ranger

    8 grown-boys showed up to run around the parking lot at Satan’s Hill this morning. YHC let the PAX know that today’s playlist during the workout would have songs pulled from all the American Pie movies. The conversation quickly turned to how well/poorly our childhood crushes are aging. Names like Tara Reid, Topanga, The Pink Ranger and Kelly Kapowski were brought up for debate.

    WARAMARA – Moseyed to the top of Satan’s Hill and back to the circle. Gave the mission, stretched out and got into it.

  • Ups and downs of life

    Recently, life has been one where it hasn’t been easy. The reality that nearly 2 years at Amazon, it’s time for me to look for something new. 4 straight 10 hour shifts then try to get my body to shut down, relax and enjoy a little quiet time in my head hasn’t been easy. Plus I don’t sleep real well (the type of sleep I get versus what would be best for my body doesn’t even come close). So with the unification end of summer approaching, 5 brave souls came out for a classic Mudslide beatdown(another one probably worse coming tomorrow). There was also some extended broga today close to 15 minutes worth get the muscles stretched. The only adjustment to the workout due to the darkness, I had to change up the final run which ended up being a full Satan’s hill stop sign all the way up and back(a mini twin team style hill). This is the workout(if you were here, a good practice for the IronPax starting next week. I

  • 3rd Piece of Stromboli

    9 strong came out to end the week right where it is always 70 and soupy. The mornings are getting shorter, need to use the light while we have it. Coming off the F3 Fantasy draft where our gracious host DK stuffed us full of wings and a definitely not needed 3rd slice of Stromboli this was a struggle for YHC.

    Quick mosey around the to start.  COP- 20 each SSH, LBC; Willy Mays Hayes, 10 Each, Jim Duggan’s,  Jazzercise, Helicopters, Imperials Walkers, , Copper head squat, Cherry pickers, Merkins, Dollies, Flutters. 

    The Thang: Triangle of pain: Coupons at the start. Perform 5 coupon swings. Run dog park path to first cut-de-sac perform 10 perfect merkins 5 squats, run to second cul-de-sac perform 15 WWII’s and all prior. Run back to start for 20 curls and all prior, Keep going with 25 Plank jacks, 30 flutter kicks, 35 front lat raises, Keep going around dropping an exercise each time. Time was called and BTTF.

  • Purple Rain??

    7 HIM’s showed up to Satan’s Hill expecting 45 minutes of Jazzercise. Nancy ended up going OOT so YHC stepped in to lead the boys! Purple Rain was apparently talking some mess about YHC’s boot camps so a BRUTAL plan was in place. However, he wasn’t able to make it out today so the PAX was in luck.

    WARMARAMA – Moseyed to the top of the hill and back. Gave the mission, stretched (w/ Jazzercise included) and got into it.

  • Indigenous Rings of Fire

    Eight HIMS came out to Satan’s Hill on this cool morning to end the week on a high note. After a brief mosey, we warmed up with side straddle hops, Don Quixote, Ukrainian Soldiers, and some deadman hangs.

    For the workout, took a tour of the neighborhood Indigenous Run style. After all members of the pax completed their sprint, we circled up for a Ring of Fire. After a full cycle through the Ring of Fire, we hit the pavement again for another Indigenous Run. Rinse and Repeat. When we finally returned to the clubhouse, Mudslide led us in 10 minutes of broga to take us home.

    Was it a beat down? Not all. But it was a good, full body workout to end another week.

    COT: names and numbers. Announcements: Homegrown half in 2 weeks, overnight ruck in September. Prayer requests: Teddy KGB’s daughter has surgery today; No Show bowed out of today’s workout early with a calf strain. It was an honor to lead you fine gentlemen this morning!

  • Goodnight, Construction Site

    It’s often mentioned that Alamo and surrounding AOs are just pavement, and we like it that way! There’s a new neighborhood opening by Satans Hill and the smell of new pavement got us from six to midnight and we had to go explore. Nancy brought the ghost flag as a reminder of the power he possesses, but he held onto the flag for another day.

    YHC announced we had a long mosey, and away we went. Up the main road and hang a right at the construction zone. Warm up included standard items, but we added a new one, the Merman, known for loosening up your back.

    Partner up. There are 4 workout stations spaced out along the road. Each team ran to a different one to start, but it would go 1-2-3-4 then back to 1.

    1 – 8 KB squat curl press, 8 upright rows, 8 skullcrushers

    2 – 8 cinder managers, 8 curls, 8 overhead press

    3 – 8 sandbag squats, 8 thrusters, 8 plank pull throughs

    4 – 8 banded merkins, 8 deadlifts, 8 overhead press

    Nancy and YHC completed two full circuits then made the mile long run from station 4 BTTF, grabbing PAX members as we went.

  • SOJ Ghost Flag Returns!

    After a mysteriously long delay, the SOJ Ghost Flag re-emerged at Satan’s Hill. Dreams of a Nancy Lopez Hulk Hogan themed workout were shattered. Here is a brief summary for your viewing pleasure:

    Warm Up: Mosey up Satans Hill. On the way back: Knee Pulls, Open the Gate, Overhead Claps, Hillbillies, Arm Circles.

    Circle up for Jazzercise, Mummy Kicks, Pickle Pounders, Alabama Prom Dates.

    1 man draws a card and calls out the exercise, then totes the medicine ball up Satan’s Hill and back. PAX performs the exercise for the duration.

    Final Thoughts: Had a great time leading this morning and getting the flag back in circulation! Appreciate NTB, OC, DTH, Sable, House Party and Touchdown for making the trek. Nancy was a great sport and I have no doubt he and the SSOJ crew will be seeking retribution in a big way. As usual, the Mystery Box playlist created some controversy with “Thirsty and Miserable” specifically being criticized by the workout music purists – SMH. Mudslide exhibited encyclopedic knowledge of wrestling as respect was paid to Hulk Hogan. We are all Real Americans!

    A perfect 10 SOJ PAX made the toughest decision and got out of bed in time for a Friday post at Satan’s Hill. YHC had the Q, ironPAX wk4 2024 was on the menu. Exercise lists passed out, music going, timer set and off we went. According to the dog walker and the singular car, this is more less what happened:
