  • Rain Run

Doozy and Bullseye, 4 flat miles. Around James River High, through the woods to River Downs. Out and back.

  • Spring Cleaning: Pax Edition

Springtime at RounTrey means two things: airborne pollen and questionable life choices. Alamo brought both in heavy doses. The PAX were serenaded by classics such as “Bodies Hit the Floor” while their bodies… hit the floor.

Warmerama: side straddle hops, arm circles, imperial walkers, don quixotes, Alabama prom dates

COP 1 (Musicerama): “Thunderstruck”- holding plank throughout. Merkin each time for thunder or thunderstruck

“Bring sally up”, – start in seated crouch , go up each time “bring sally up”

“Bodies hit the floor” – side straddle hops then burpee when “bodies hit the floor”

COP 2: Mosey to tunnel. 20 x donkey kicks. Entire pax feet on wall holds it, last person does 5 world war twos, runs to the front.

COP 3: Eye of the storm- 3 circuits. Corner 1- 10 american hammers double count; corner 2- 20 lbcs; corner 3 (top of hill) 30 jump squats. 3 burpees each time pax arrives at the “eye”

COP 4: murder merkins (credit to Mudslide). start at one end of parking lot , do 1 murder merkin, burpee, shoulder tap, merkin, shoulder tap, merkin, knee tap, merkin, knee tap, merkin, ankle tap, merkin, ankle tap, merkin, toe tap, merkin, toe tap, merkin, mike tyson, merkin up. Run to other end of parking lot, 6 lbcs, in decreasing order

Announcements: Century coming up on May 2nd- teams still available.

Prayer requests: Kids going back to school, Dumar’s father as he recovers from surgery

  • Part 2 at Rock and Roll

Yes one of my really quick turnarounds, minus the shirt cause I was literally on fire still after the run. 7 brave souls came out on a pollen filled, warm Saturday morning to see what I had in store. LET’S GO!!!

A little yoga stretch, then into WARMARAMMA(SSHs, Imperial Walkers, Copperhead squats, Zombie Kicks, Merkins, Alabama Prom Dates, LBCs). After that….mosey over to the bars and other equipment for a pull-up, dips, with the tracker doing 20 plank jacks before the switch. There’s a way to do dips will show in the future after that, out of the woods to the lot for a classic

Dora time….yet with a twist. 100 Merkins(50 regular, 50 wide), 200 squats(100 jump, 100 Hindu), 300 abs(150 double count mountain climbers, 150 double count flutters). After that feast, over to the big field for animal movements. 3 styles: bear crawl, crab walks, murder bunnies) 3 rounds, 10 reps each. We went pretty far then next was a quick triple check: Wall sits, deckine Merkins, run down and up. Over to the nearby lot for 4 corners: WW2s, Merkins, LBCs, flutters double count moves picked by others turn over to an area near the dog park for one final thing.

Hindu push-ups with lunges. The idea to finish things out start with 1, lungevto every other post then increase till we get to 10. You hit 6 and so and they get harder. We finished out, back to the flag for numbers, names announcements and prayer led by YHC to close the day. Next week a few of us will not be there: Rodeo Clown and Posh have a huge ruck plus you have Cha Cha, myself and thousands of others down at Monument Ave. The farmers market is back: it is definitely bigger more new vendors: lobster rolls, arepas, smoothies, Java Joes plus next to it a doughnut truck (yes doughnut truck). There was cheese vendor places offering samples to try I believe Broadway and others taking the Q so come out, give them love then go afterwards to chill and enjoy. See you in 2 weeks I think I may bring broga before Rock and Roll back soon

  • Rucking and running

This morning, you had Rodeo Clown on his ruck getting ready for the big one next week, a little later. I came up starting my run getting ready for next week. Posh came up later to join me for a lap. Rodeo Clown was finished, I looked at the time and saw that I only had a few minutes left. The last lap I cut the distance a little short still 4.1 miles, ready for next week. After about 2 minutes, it was time for….

  • Gauntlet #2 – Stairway to Heaven

This is the second time I have done this style of workout and it seems to be a hit, so more to come! The lesson I learned this go-round is when the music plays, the PAX’s pain goes away! According to the bullfrog trying to get some this morning, here’s what went down:

Mosey to the stop sign and back, circle up for a good warmup. Nice 70 degree morning, felt the sweat already.

    Gauntlet
    3 Burpee buy-in
    15 Squats with resistance band
    15 Curls with cinder block
    15 Merkins with resistance band
    15 Lunges with sandbag
15 Bent over rows with KB
    15 KB swings
    15 Picklepounders
Run to top of Satan’s Hill and back

Rinse and Repeat for 30 minutes.

Mudslide and Wildcat set the pace and everyone gave a great effort today, that was good stuff men! I believe we did 5-6 rounds. Mudslide took us out with 3 minutes of Broga. Shoutout to TSG for rucking while he recovers from injury. I don’t know where he went nor what he did, but I’m sure it was epic.

CSOP and Bridge coming up. Prayers for Cookie’s family, his 53 year old uncle recently passed from a heart attack.

Happy Friday everyone! Enjoy a bourbon, you earned it

  • Ball > Tire

4 of SOJ’s finest gathered for a hot and humid edition of Twin Team. Coupons are atypical of the Lounge experience………….but we made it work. The following is a brief summary for your viewing pleasure.

Exercise One: Kicked things off with an indigenous people’s run. Man in the back does 2 Power Slam Bobby Hurleys with Medicine Ball. Run and hand the ball off to the person in back of the line, then run to the front. We made our way past the high school to the tennis court area.

Warm Up: Jazzercise, Cherry Pickers, Ukranian Soldiers, Australian Snow Angels, Freddy Mercuries, Alabama Prom Dates. Mosey behind the school for some Tire Flips – No Tires!

Exercise Two: Dora with hanging Knee Raises, Jump Squats, Flutter Kicks. Runner goes to the Transformer and back.

Mosey to the track for Exercise Three: Catch me if you Crab. 100 m Crab Walk. One man totes the medicine ball to the start line – 5 American Hammers. Run back and hand off the ball to the person in the lead. Repeat until all are done.

Exercise 4: Run up and down the Swamp Stadium stairs – plank walk across each section of bleachers. Switch directions and repeat.

Indigenous People run back to Bettie Weaver – same pattern as above.

Exercise 5 – Complete two layups with medicine ball: one on each basket – call an ab exercise for the remaining PAX. YHC had an embarrassing performance with several air balls.

I think we did WWII’s, Flutter Kicks, Crunchy Frogs and something else

Run around the school – stopped for 25 dips on the benches.

Back to the flag and YHC took us out.

Final Thoughts: Training is ramping up for the Century Classic- Boberry and Rosie were up early this morning getting in some miles. Not too late to sign up! Also keep a look out for The Bridge workouts. Strong work by the PAX today- we got in a good workout while keeping things semi-loungy

  • Finally found Boberry’s NON conversational pace!

2 Fleet footed zombies met in the gloom at Swift Creek Middle for another speed workout. Here’s the workout.

    1 mile warmup
1.5 miles (6 laps) @8 minutes per mile
    1.5 miles @720 per mile
    1 mile cool down

YHC and Boberry have been doing these speed workouts for a couple months now, and we both feel like we’re getting results. And this is the first time Boberry hit a pace that he couldn’t carry on a conversation. So I  guess 720 is his non conversational pace.

  • The message on the window

6 HIMs came out to Timberwolf this morning, 3 chose rucking and 3 chose the bootcamp. It was foggy, humid, and a lot of running, but we got it done. The Q was not claimed, so we did a little hot potato full of triple checks!

    Round 1

Triple check by Tzatziki: Merkins, squats, and the runner to the curb

Triple check by Woodsman : Dips, toe taps, and the runner to the light pole

Triple check by Mudslide: Lieutenant Dans, inchworms (with a merkin), and the runner to light pole

    Round 2

Triple check by Tzatziki: Flutter kicks, LBCs, and the runner to the curb

Triple check by Woodsman: SSH, Firecrackers, and the runner up the hill

Not enough time for a second Triple check by Mudslide, so he took us out with some Broga in the rain.

We met back up with the ruckers (TSG, Crabgrass, and FlyBoy) as time expired and TSG took us out. Timberwolf has been light the past two weeks but happy to be there and start the day off right!

  • Numbers, Annoucements, wait… GO F3!

6 gloom warriors rolled into a dark, foggy & misty morning at Timberwolf. As Led Zeppelin says, “So I’m packing my bags for a misty mountain, where the spirits go now, over the hill where the spirits fly!” It’s 5:30, time for FlyBoy to make his decision; boot camp or ruck? YHC got excited when he saw the weighted vest emerge from the trunk of his car. Crabgrass joined for moral support. And we were off, 3 ruckers (Crabby, FlyBoy, TSG) and 3 boot campers! I don’t think anyone signed up for bootcamp Q, so I think they rotated, TSG took the ruckers.

Ruckers made their way to the track for a little interval training, while the others went off to do their thang.

    The Rucker Thang

    1 mile interval: 400M shuffle/ 400M ruck / 400M shuffle/ 400M ruck

4 corners mile of pain; start at corner 1- 5x overhead press (changed to merkins after a mighty struggle and complaints from the gallery of having to take weighted vest on and off). Shuffle to corner 2 for 5 squats, ruck to corner 3 for 5 jump squats, shuffle to corner 4 for 5 pickle dippers, ruck back to corner 1. 4x400M rounds going up 5 reps each round finishing with 20x reps per corner.

We had about 7 min until 6:15, so we made our way over to Kitten Lip’s, I mean FlyBoys moms classroom where she said she left him a little note in the window. Sure enough, we rounded the corner and saw GO F3 in the window. Very cool. After that, we made our way back to converge with the bootcampers to wrap things up.

    COT

    • Count/ Namerama (Of course I forgot to do names, thanks for correcting me Crabgrass)
    • Announcements: CSAUP coming up- sign up!
    • Wins/ Prayer Request- Pray for all PAX, family and friends who may be facing challenging circumstances. Mudslide took us out.

Enjoyed the company as always; F3 has truly changed my life around for the better and I’ll always be greatful for all of you. Thanks for continuing to push me to become a better man both physically and mentally. Look forward to the next one!

  • Ruck-a-ccino

6 HIMs gathered at the stop sign. 1 HIM we found running. 1 HIM jumped out from behind a tree and startled the unsuspecting newcomers to the RounTrey Ruck Club. All in total, 8 HIM came out to put some work in!

Started at stop sign, had light conversation on what’s better than a kettlebell or MTG cards to get weight in your pack. Only took 5 minutes before TSG felt lost but his spirits were lifted when we passed Matlock out there crushing it on his gloomy run!

Walked past McGruffs house, nothing. Around the bend and crosses the road by the gas station. Walking up the hill with no lights whatsoever on it, McGruff was in his element and rushed us from the cover of the trees and scared a few of us pretty good. You never know where he may appear from! There was some debate on whether he had his pants up while he was in the woods by himself.

We reminisced a little on FlyBoys life and made our way through the rolling hills and eventually back to the start. We’re hopeful that Tobey doesn’t notify HR on us today…
