A half a dozen chose to eschew a baseball-derivative workout and work on their own 6 pack instead.

Ten Spider regulars plus Roscoe stepped out of their cars only to question if it was a good choice. In the end, it was a good choice.

That’s about as thick as it gets in Richmond. Kudos to my 9 brothers for owning up to the challenge and tackling a very hilly route. Pace was altered accordingly.
Question of the day is were there any deuces left for Upchuck?
Splinter out.
7 gents arrived to cover 4 and 5 mile distances.

8 gents arrived, including Splinter who was not taking requests for passengers today…
A prescribed out and back across the bridge was administered.
Fall weather can’t come soon enough….

A lucky 7 – runners and ruckers – launched from the Spider Run pit promptly on time. The rain ended on cue and miles were covered and conversation had.

Only 5 takers for Spider Run this morning. One launched early and YHC arrived to nary a soul. Tricklers arrived, first 1-800, then Chippendale, followed by a Hitchhiker in need of some solo meditation. Route was shared and off we went:

Hitchhiker had no time for instructions this morning and went on his merry way. Sometime solitary time is good for the soul and today was Hitch’s opportunity for reflection.
1-800 seemed to be back in top gear today, powering up those hills with blatant disregard for the humidity in the air. Even with Chippendale and YHC reminding of an impossible pace, he carried on. Thanks for pulling us along today.
Saab was poked by a bear and decided to launch early and run extra. Even an offer of a ride home was stiff-armed. Must have been still bitter about those two extra fingers at the end.
Enjoy the day fellas. Splinter out.
There were eight today, for our weekly gathering near the pond scum of lake Westhampton. Routes were posted early, countryside lollipops, and a non-enthusiastic Q talked through directions before we embarked on our journey.

Who has ever heard of asking permission for your future bride in marriage and being denied? Well, apparently it does happen and it wasn’t even on a Lifetime movie. Glad things worked out in the end!
Splinter out.
A tenacious 10 arrived at Spider Run. Routes below were administered, albeit in reverso…with 5 & 6 milers starting at the eco-corridor, and 4’s taking College to University.

We were moving mountains on a glorious Tuesday morning in the lower Tuckahoe Area. Normally, a trip up Mt. Henrico includes a jaunt up Julian to what is the highest point in Henrico County…the intersection of Julian and Parham.
But not today.
It’s been a good 7 years or so that we’ve been meeting every Tuesday to run around the leafy hoods of Henrico County’s west end, and we’ve never gone down Ridge Road. This is partly because, for a long time, it was pretty darn dangerous. Like, “hey, I’m Lockjaw, let’s run on that dangerous two lane road this morning” type dangerous.
However, the Board Supervisors of Henrico, who we all voted for, have installed some pretty substantial bike lanes on Ridge heading down to Forest, so we figured we’d make that run for the first time.
And it was glorious. I guess. I mean, it was fine…nice little diversion from Mt. Henrico.
The Thang…
The 4s ran the normal Mt. Henrico out 22.5 minutes and back. Pretty standard.
5s and 6s did their normal Mt. Henrico out but ran past the right on Glendale (where the AZ Cardinals play) and continued on University which eventually turns into Glendale heading towards Ridge. It’s a pretty steep hill.
Take a left on Ridge and head to Forest.
The 5s cut through Bodo’s church lot to Lakewood and then back to the flag.
The 6s took a right on Ziontown and then took a left on Holmes (Near Kanawha). Ending up on Sunset to Lakewood and then a lap around the lake…just shy of 6 miles but right at 45:00.
