    NMS:

YHC rolled into the parking lot to see Spit, Honey Do and EF Hutton already present and gearing up for the workout. The talking for the workout had already begun the night before when Mudface texted YHC and asked if  “should we come prepared to work or what?” Spit also texted YHC and wondered if SSHs or HRMs were now his favorite exercise…

The PAX circled up and YHC alerted them that this workout would give all of us a chance to figure out which exercise was more favored – SSHs or HRMs. The PAX proceeded to get to work in the COP with ample amounts of SSHs and HRMs. The opportunities continued during the 4x4x4x4 fun fest.

Spit took off fast in the 4x4x4x4. Some of the PAX noted that he cut short the initial set and Spit quickly adjusted. He then proceeded to crush the rest of it. EF Hutton, Opus and Honey Do were right behind him. Mudface continued to show us all how to build a warrior of a son through his encouragement and challenges to Chewy and Recess. Flounder pushed through and is demonstrating increasing strength every week. Emoji and Yardsale enjoyed some mumblechatter along the way too.

In the end, the PAX voted for the favored exercise out of SSHs and HRMs. HRMs won 6 to 4 (with one abstention). YHC stilled voted for SSHs but he is being won over to the HRMs because they reduce the possibility of short-cuts on the merkins.

It was a blast of a morning!

    NMS

YHC and family leave today for our annual trip to Hershey, PA, for all things chocolate, so it was important to get in one last F3 workout.  Somehow YHC forgot how late he is up before every trip with last minute packing, and barely escaped the fartsack this morning.  Some members of the PAX seemed to have wished YHC had not shown up, as their was a lot of mumblechatter during 4×4’s, although the PAX powered through all of it well.  The 4×4’s and angle grinders were new to YHC and some of the PAX too–it’s always good to do something different.  YHC had planned ring of fire to wrap it up, and wanted the 2.0’s to contribute the exercises. so asked them for suggestions.  That’s when one of Mudface’s 2.0s asked “Does walking count?”  Mudface was so proud!

Congrats to Rosie for finishing up the summer challenge, and YHC is unclear if Swiper and Offshore are done as well.

Announcements:  Puppy pile tomorrow, 7 AM.  Labor Day Convergence at Three Lakes park, see preblast for details.

As usual, I have No Idea what I’m doing.

As YHC was deciding which AO to attend in the morning, he noticed that no one had signed up to Q The Creek the next morning.  Because there was a good chance that Summer Tour participants would post at the Creek, YHC signed up.  At 5:30 AM, there were 12 Davillians and no Summer Tour participants.  With 2 more Fridays left before Labor Day, there should be several PAX members making there way north if the Summer Tour is still continuing.

It was great Qing again at The Creek.  The Creek for 2 years consistently has the largest PAX in Mechanicsville.  It also has the largest amount of 2.0s in F3RVA.  Great effort from all the PAX members today.  Apologies must be given to Mudface for limiting the amount of running we did today.  YHC will try to increase the mileage next time he Qs The Creek.  It is always impressive Mudface the amount that your 2.0s post.  Well done!  Nice to meet you Flounder and thank you for explaining your nickname.  It was also nice seeing It has nothing to do with Animal House.  Nice to see you again Boom Boom.  Good luck with your 3rd year at The Institute.

YHC has been out of town a lot this summer and it was good to be back with the PAX this morning. The PAX was ready to roll and YHC took them on a scenic run in what appeared to be an off campus beginning but we turned back for the COP.

YHC has not been running out the SSHs as much in recent months so that needed to change. Various PAX members decided to jump around and run into one another during the SSHs and that brought some added entertainment to the start. The idea of doing a LOT of flutter kicks came to YHC’s mind a few days earlier and the PAX picked up on that theme quickly.

Spit and Patches attacked the Field of Dreams and set the pace for the morning. Ewok and Recess blazed a 2.0 trail when they were not beating each other up. There some mumble chatter but it turned to groans when the exercise for the second round of the Field of Dreams turned to flutter kicks. The PAX soaked up the dew in the field like sponges!

Welcome to Flounder. His name took awhile to create but the various parts of his life story converged into the name. The morning was a glorious one as always whenever the PAX fights through a workout together.

The Hand Release Merkins brought about an each challenge during the COP. It seemed YHC’s arms were going to fall off while doing Arm Circle. By looking at the rest of the PAX faces, YHC feels they would agree

We had a cheering section this morning with a Southern Baptist Mission crew sharing our parking this morning.

    NMS

YHC’s shoulder is a bit messed up, so had to come up with a Q that required no shoulder work–time for abs and legs!  COP involved YHC messing with the cadence, eliciting mumblechatter from Spit and Mudface.  You’d think they would be used to it by now….

The PAX crushed 4 corners and triple check, such that YHC had to make up 11’s and couldn’t think of a new ab or leg exercise, thus the 4 count flutter kicks (thanks for the suggestion, Spit).  Seeing what the PAX (and YHC) called frog hops was entertaining, and Mudface even accused YHC of skipping “like a little girl” which is probably inaccurate.  Probably.  It’s always great seeing new faces, and congrats to Doc for doing so well today, although given that Spike is her dad, it’s also not that surprising.  Way to bring the effort, Doc!  Good to see Rounders out again–is it typical to work out in a puffy vest in July?  Army guys are weird….

Announcements: Amateur RAMMgear next Friday, bring your bike, no matter if it was made this century or not.  Also, Preblast coming soon for Convergence at Daville (specifically 3 Lakes park) on Labor Day.

    Thanks for letting me lead.

As usual, I have No Idea what I’m doing.

  • Keep it Simple Stupid

Warm Up:  20 Side Straddle Hops, 20 LBC’s, 20 Hillbillies, 20 Hellicopers, Arm Circles, 15 Heels to Heaven, 20 Invisible Jump Ropes and 20 American Hammers

Escalating 4 Corners of Church: Run to first corner – 5 burpees, run to next corner – 5 American Hammers, run to next corner – 5 Merkins, run to pavillion – 5 skull crushers each side.  Pause until the PAC catches up by doing planks.  Next do 10 of each, 15 of each, 10 of each and finish up with 5 of each.

11’s:  start with 10 heels to heaven, bear crawl across the parking lot, complete 1 LBC, grapevine across the parking log and continue with 9-2, 8-3, etc…..  Cut a little short due to time constraints.

Mosey back to the flag.  Numberama, Namerama.  Anouncements – Kid Friendly workout Saturday morning at 7:05.  Emoji took us out with a prayer.

I’d like to welcome 2 visitors today, Kubota and Shake Down.  I didn’t hear much muble chatter this morning but maybe it was because I was at or near the rear most of the time.  Thank you to Spit and Wheelie for planking everyone up until we slower members caught up. Have a great weekend men.

  • Hand Release This!

10 party animals launched out of the fart sack and landed in a parking lot for a hand-release fun fest that went something like this…

    NMS

YHC has noticed some partial merkins in recent weeks and decided to amend that with some hand-release activity. This was inspired by Hardywood’s call to full merkin mayhem. It was also inspired by Helix’ full-form exercises at every turn.

The COP always provides an opportunity to throw the PAX off a bit. The hand-release merkins after every exercise elicited grunts and groans. That means YHC is doing something right! At one point, Spit tried to jump ahead of YHC and he got down to the ground but YHC shifted at that exact moment. There is always a healthy level of cat-and-mouse going on with Spit!

The PAX went to work on the Dora 1-2-3 and took no prisoners with the hand-release merkins. Spit called out Hardywood’s technique of throwing the arms out to the side and lifting legs. Some of the PAX gave it a shot. Most of them didn’t. Wild Thing continued to show that being in your 60s is not an impediment to pounding out a F3 workout. Spike shared how he woke up at 4 am for a five mile run before the workout. T-claps for that! The WWII sit-ups provided another “opportunity” to not shortchange the exercise. After the jump squats, some of the PAX decided to go for the dunk on the lower rims while others attempted to touch the high rim. Most missed…

It was another glorious morning in the gloom with a fantastic team.

  • F4 – Fourth F Being Family

    Spit posting for Pick 2

A Total of 21 including 9 FNG’s (Guys and Gals) and 7 2.0’s arrived at New Highland BC on Friday to help Pick 2 celebrate his wedding weekend.

    This how it went down:

Mosey around the church one lap then head to the field

COP (ALL IC) – SSH, DQ, Imperial Walkers, Shoulder Taps, Merkins, LBC’s, Arm Circles

    THANG – Mosey the pavilion

Triple Check – Dips, Skull Crushers, Run down the gravel road and back. Rinse and Repeat 3 times of course

    Mosey back to the field

    3 BALL

    • PAX was divide into to teams
    • Have one group start “at bat” and the other group start in the field. The group “at bat” should create a batting order that they maintain for the entire game
    • The first participant at bat kicks each of the three balls into the field, one at a time, and then runs the bases. The kicker tries to kick the ball into open space so the fielders do not catch the ball. Fielders attempt to catch and/or retrieve the balls as soon as the first ball has been kicked, while being aware of the other balls being kicked.
    • Fielders collect all the balls and place them in the bucket beside “pitcher mound”. Fielders work together to run and hand off the balls to each other to get the balls to the bucket.
    • Participants must be on a base when all balls are placed in the bucket. Once on a base, participants are not required to run to the next base. They can decide to stay on the base if they do not think they can make it to the next base before all the balls are placed in the bucket. If they are between bases when balls are all returned to the bucket, they return to the previous base. More than one participant is allowed on a base at a time.
    • Runs are scored each time a participant reaches home base safely.

Mosey to SF for Numerama, Namerama, Announcements, PICK 2 took us out

    MOLESKIN

This was a nice change of pace at The Creek last Friday. We had a great showing from wedding party including the father of the bride (Blue Tux), father of the groom (Vila), and The bride herself (Pick 1).

The 2.0’s seem to enjoy 3 Ball the most but YHC did notice a few adults getting into as well.

To learn more how 3 Ball works watch the video

Congrats to Mr. and Mrs. Pick 2 on their marriage this past Saturday!

    NMS —
YHC will miss all you guys for the next month while he is gone on a family vacation whose original plans started a long time ago when the kids were young and watched a documentary on the redwoods.  It was at that point that the vision of this great cross country trip first started.  It is now much bigger than YHC could have even imagined at the very beginning.
People’s reactions when we tell them what we are doing range from “That sounds like an amazing vacation” to “You’re crazy!”  We have thought the same things going through this process.
Anyhow, the workout went pretty well — everyone loved the 10 minutes of Burpees just as much as YHC loved them the first time he experienced them at 45 MOM a few months back and the second time a short while ago at the Gridiron.
Kudos to Sugarsock for kicking butt on the four faces of Rushmore.  Those roll ups were tough after about 10.
Will post pics of YHC and family planking in front of Mt Rushmore for you all on Twitter.

    See you soon
