It is YHC’s anniversary week and the original plan was to do The Murph at every AO in Da’Ville. In looking into it YHC found that there are a lot of these types of Hero workouts, all honoring a fallen serviceman or first responder. This week we are going to pay homage to some of the lesser known ones.

“In honor of USAF SSgt Travis L. Griffin, 28, who was killed April 3, 2008 in the Rasheed district of Baghdad by an IED strike to his vehicle. Travis is survived by his son Elijah.”

No Idea got a little lost this morning and we did not see him until he had already search the entire AO. But he was able to get in a few laps before it was time to go.

Strong work was put in by all

Thank you gentlemen, it was an honor to lead

  • 4 Tomato Runners

We had 4 men show up the rainy cool morning for a run in Hanover and here is what went down

Trout and Corned Beef went over the track hill to Atlee station road, we turned right on Dewitt to Aaroe Drive left down hill on Ashlar Pl and back up and a right on Dewitt left on Westone road left on Atlee station road to left on Giles farm road to the parking lot in the rear of Cool Spring baptist church returning to Atlee Station road, we returned to Giles subdivision to turn circle and back to Parking lot for a little over 4 miles. Mudface and No Idea did their normal route around the Atlee high school, CMS and Cool Spring Elementary school campuses.

    Numberama and namerama plus style.

    No Idea took us out.

  • Navy Seal Run

6 Davillians arrived at Atlee HS to start the week off with some miles

    ROUTES

Head out behind the school to Honey Meadows, hit the cut through to Kings Charter, head to the entrance then cross Atlee Station.

4+ milers – Head down Atlee Station to the new neighborhood then back around the schools (Sludge added a 1/2 loop on the cross country trail)

5 milers – Head down Atlee Station to Chickahominy Oaks, run to the back then cut through to Summer Duck, Run to the back then cross over to the new neighborhood then finish through the front of the schools.

    MOLESKIN

Great day for a run. Corned Beef arrived with new headlamp gear that seemed to be more like tactical gear for a Navy Seal

Opus took a hard fall right at the beginning on a speed bump. T-Claps to him for getting back up and finishing.

    SPIT ON THAT!!

  • If you don’t post at an AO can you still ghost write the Backblast??

YHC unfortunately wasn’t there due the kids keeping him up most of the night but wanted to make sure the PAX got their Big Data credit. From whisper hears at DaVille the next day, this is how it supposedly went down:

Corned Beef & Trout ran to Kings charter up to farmhouse looping around past the pond and ran in front of the schools on the return for 4 miles. Marco Polo ran same loop; however ran bus loop laps until he reached 5 miles

No Idea and Mudface did their normal loop for around 3ish

YHC is sure the Mumble Chatter was great and thanks Mudface for taking the Q on short notice.

  • Split Tomato

YHC was excited to get the week going with a Tomato Run and we had a group of 3 and 2 running two different routes. Here is how it went down:

Mud Face and No Idea started on a route that YHC scope out on a bike last week where they leave Atlee High school and go over the train tracks and take a right to the dead end spur road return to Atlee station Road to church and return, this is a mile and hilly so should be able to get in 3-4 trips, they returned and went through the sprinklers for relief.

Trout, Marco Polo and YHC ran behind Atlee High school to Honey Meadows to the cut thrpugh to Kings Charter to Ivy Banks Road and Back and that equated to 4 miles. Marco Polo kept the pace fast and ran ahead and we had to flag him down a couple of times to make the correct turns, he chose to run in front of the schools while Trout and YHC ran behind and we met up at the end.

    Numberrama and Namerama

We discussed the IronPax Challenge and the new venue change from the Creek, look for an update from Spit on the change in the News Section.

YHC took us out and have a great day folks! CB

  • Check your headlamp

Four men showed up for the Tomato Run start @ 5:30. YHC had his headlight out ready to start and it would not work. Lab Rat offered his and pulled out a belt lamp so we could get on the road for our morning run.

The THANG – We started on Atlee station Road went over the tracks and made the loop in the Craney Island neighborhood and returned to Dewitt went around church parking lot, back to Atlee Station over the tracks and into Giles neighborhood to first turn circle, returned to Atlee HS parking lot for lap in parking lot to complete 4 miles. Mudface showed up from his route and we totaled 5 at the end of the morning.

YHC was very thankful for Lab Rat’s head lamp otherwise we would have stayed around the well lit school lots running laps.

    Numerama, Namerama.

Congratulations to the Daville folks that participated in the Colonial 70 this past weekend. We look forward to catching up when they return to the gloom.

Retreat is this weekend, TYA has his 5 year anniversary beatdown at Dogpile on Saturday.

  • The Art of Tapering

9 Running Davillians arrived on the last group run Monday for the Colonial Team

Since this is tapering week, route was shorten to 3 or 4 miles around Honey Meadows and the Schools

The run started out a little fast so YHC got thing slow down but making the PAX run the trails.

    SPIT ON THAT!!

  • Hot Tomato

    Tomato Run

It was a nice cool morning for a run and with no Q we discussed running routes while stretching and started promptly at 5:30. Our route was the following: Left on Atlee Station Road, run up the train overpass and continue on Atlee Road, take a right on Dewitt Drive then a right on Aaroe drive down the big hill and back up to DeWitt with a left on Westone Road to Atlee Station Road up to train overpass towards Halifax Drive(new Giles Development) to Willies Way trail and looped back to Atlee and this was about a 4.27mi route. Trout, Glide and Shakedown set the pace and I had the 6 all to myself. We still clocked in under a 9′-22″ avg mile pace so not a bad morning. MudFace and No Idea did their normal route around Atlee and Giles.

Numerama and we discussed the upcoming week with reminders of the Timberwolf Convergence on Labor Day. We will be meeting @ 6:20am at the Wawa on 301 to form a couple of clown cars for the 35 minute ride.

  • To Farlek or Not to Farlek

No the title is correct, YHC didn’t mean to Fartsack. 10 Runners from near and far arrived on a humid morning in Mechanicsville to either train or punch their passports.

The Route – Laps around the three school total of 1.6 miles per lap

Colonial Team – Farlek Run – 5 minutes at 30 sec slower than normal pace then either 2 or 3 minutes at 30 sec faster than normal pace. Rinse and Repeat for either 4 or 5 miles

“On Doctor Orders” Runners (4ish Milers) – No Farlek running for these fellas

The Runningish Group (aka Mudface & No Idea) – 3ish miles

T-Claps to Marco Polo for crushing a near to 8:30 pace

    SPIT ON THAT!!

  • Partner Up SOJ

15! Yes 15 runners from the North and South arrived “North of the Wall” to enjoy a Sunny and 70 Monday morning run.

Route was the Craney Island/Giles Combo.

Head out onto Atlee Station, turn into Craney Island neighborhood on DeWitt Rd. Head to the back of the neighborhood for a little down/up hill run.

4 milers – Head back the way they came and did a loop in the Giles down and back

5 milers – Loop around Craney Island, a loop around Cool Spring Baptist, then head to Giles for a loop down and back

Glad to have SOJ/New Market joins us this morning. YHC was worried they would outnumber us at one point but the full Colonial 70 team came out ready.

Apologizes to the 5 milers this morning. YHC is still working on this route so we got in a little overtime today

    SPIT ON THAT!!
