  • OC’s Sugar Socks

    11 Chilly Pops posted to see what was on the Doozy Q board for today at Twin Team

    5:29:30 YHC announces the 30 second to start mark but PAX sees lights coming in hot, YHC decides to wait for BoBerry. Rosie says he wants his moneys worth so off we go, BoBerry will find us.

    Mosey to the bus loop for COP – 10 of each exercise with ascending Burpees in between

    DQ’s, Helicopters, Cherry Pickers, Copperhead Squats, American Hammers, WWII, Flutter Kicks (YHC calls them Scissor Kicks) (OC hears it Sugar Socks) and it was all down hill from there. Squats (IC), Jump Squats and Calf raises. If we did the Burpees right we end with 10 and away we go.

    Mosey to Twin Team for everyone’s favorite Man Killers

    PAX sees glow stick along Twin Team and a medicine ball so somewhat knows what they are in for.

    Find a Partner but PAX moves up the hill as a team, this is a modified triple check so using the last 6 exercises of the COP PAX starts with American Hammers while the first group of partners carries the medicine ball over head to next glow stick partners switch and back to PAX. Next set of parner carries the ball up to the next glow stick PAX does WWII’s until that set of partners returns repeat-o to the top and back.

    NMS:

    YHC had to bring the court into order this morning as much as possible when PAX lost count because of OC’s Sugar Socks and the rabbit hole that conversation went down. Man Killers took care of most of that but about half way down the hill and after PeeDee introduced us to the aroma of last nights crab cakes, the mumble chatter about OC’s Sugar Socks and a reference to his between the sheet performance was made and all control was again lost. Tobit as always the ever persistent mathematical guru that he is made reference to the fact that the glow sticks were not evenly placed and Nancy Lopez seconded that. YHC placed the glow sticks ahead of time and did not have time to measure each distance out but never fear the next time this event is done the glow sticks will be placed every 200′ by measure. However Tobit may have to carry (the chain) every time the PAX moves.

    Notes and Prayers:

    Upchuck is asking for patience and prayers with kids as he and his wife deal with a strong willed child. YHC would have to ask for the same prayers for his family

    Winter Tour

  • No snow but plenty of wind

    Eleven eager PAX made their way to Twin Team to look for some snow. A thorough investigation of the AO yielded zero snow on the ground but we found a beatdown on the way:

    COP: SSH, 10 Burpees, Don Qs, Helicopters, Merkins, Flutterkicks. Down to track/stadium: DORA of 100 Merkins, 200 Jumpsquats, 300 LBCs.

    Stay on field – Bear Crawl width of field, 20 Burpees, Bernie Sanders across. Pickle pounders. Mosey to stadium entrace gazebo: 3 rounds of 30 Donkey Kicks & B2W. Head up to BWES playground – 4 Rounds of 8 Pull-ups & 10 WWIIs.

    Back to front of BWES under cover partner up – 2 sets of 30 PLTs. Back to flag, YHC took us out. Prayers for Wild Thing & his family, DTH mission trip, and YHC FIL.

    Annoucements: Wild Thing M’s memorial service is tomorrow morning in Daville, see pre-blast. Also Poker at Orange Crush place tomorrow night.

    NMS – In order to keep progress on Winter Tour going YHC signed up for Q today. Woke up early in anticipation of ice on car & nasty roads. Instead YHC found himself at AO at 5:10. Luckily Doublemint prepared for the non-existent weather as well and arrived early. Plenty others came in hot right before 5:30 and we were off.

    Although there was no snow to be had the wind made this maybe the coldest morning so far in the gloom this winter, at least for YHC. Several PAX members were SOP while others were more covered up, you know who you are. Wilson appeared to be 4-5 layers in under his jacket.

    Dora on the field got the pax warmed up. One team needed some help on their math in the Dora, can’t remember who that was. Donkey Kicks under the roof were nice but someone ripped one and blamed it on Cooper.

    The more veteran pax members took advantage of their experience on the WWIIs on the playground as they opted for grass instead of the sand or mulch areas. Doublemint had to shake out a ton of sand on the final mosey.

    YHC hopes the SOJ pax enjoyed their soft 2 hour school delay.

    7 stout men showed up to see what the wet and wind swept Hill had in store for them this morning. This is what was found

PAX of seven each member gets called on to call off an exercise, No member is called twice no exercise is called twice.     Divide up one group of 3 one group of 4, play a little game of pole touches

    Partner 1 – Balls to the wall, Partner 2 – Wall Sits and Partner 3 – Touch light posts starting at 1 for the first round and go to 5. Time was called and the game was ended on the 3rd round. Balls to the wall for this game is no joke.

    NMS:

    The night before as YHC was thinking of what pain could be brought to the PAX at Twin Team and as YHC was listening to the rain. YHC decided to abort what he really wanted to do which was Suicides on Twin Team and last minute decided to head for cover. Little did YHC know that the rain would somewhat stop and it would be 57 degrees at 5:30 AM in February. YHC decided to stick to the plan because the last time he deviated from his original flight plan there was talk of a Q mutiny. Well now YHC has 10 unused glow sticks that will be coming to an AO near you.

  • Everyone is the Q

    5 Super Bowl ready warriors showed up to Twin Team this morning. The Q sheet had WOJO until about 2 days ago and then went blank. With no Q the hot potato was called.

    Mosey to the basketball court for various exercises DQs, Helicopters, Hillbillies, LBCs, Kimchi Twists or Windshield Wipers and Merkins

    Four Corners – (10) Merkins, (20) Monkey Humpers, (30) Plank Jacks, (40) American Hammers

    Tobit – Stay at the court start with 2 burpies run to first BB goal WWII back to start for next assignment. Basically a modified Prostitute with Burpies, WWII, Jump Squats, Carolina Dry Docks, Merkins, Hello Dollies and American Hammer.

    Loose Goose – Triple Check with 5 don’t let the math wiz mess it up. Partner 1 WWII, Partner 2 Wall sits low as you can go and Partner 3 run

  • Parts Unknown

    A rather balmy morning (compared to the last few) greeted the nine redwoods that gathered in the Bettie Weaver parking lot. Some knew YHC had the Q, others were flying blind. Loose Goose was just happy it wasn’t a Murph day.

    THANG

    Mosey to the left down James River Road to the delight of some that were afraid we were headed to Twin Team. At the first sight of an approaching car, stop for a quick COP of SSH, Helicopters, Peter Parkers, Shoulder Taps and HRMs.

    Continue down the road to the little lot in front of the school, 4 rounds of burp in a box in the handicap spots. 1 burpee, run a lap, 2 burpees, run a lap, up to 4. This is much better with more spots but quick stops was today’s theme. Next up the bus parking lot for a Lab Rat special, giant parking lot tracers.

    4 corners at the seldom used tennis courts with 10 merkins, 20 WWII, 30 MH, 40 Plank Jacks. Hit the mosey again around the back of the school. Pull up bar Morning Call. All PAX plank – 1 man does 5 pullups and on his count the others to merkins. Go through until everyone has a turn. Over the river and through the woods to other hidden pull up bars for Cindy. Yep, she’s back. 5 pull ups, 10 merkins, 15 squats – run to the sidewalk and back. Repeato for about 5 rounds.

    Mosey toward the playground, with a brief stop for YHC to determine that the dugout hill was a little dark for what YHC wanted to do. Playground it is where Tobit pointed out that there are yet more pull up bars. Triple check – Dead Hang, Freddies, run the track straightaway. 30 second dead hang is harder than it sounds. Mosey back to the flag and finish with burpees until 45 minutes was up (about 10 seconds). You paid for 45 minutes, that what you’ll get when I’ve got the Q.

    What a great morning. After the last few days in the low 20s this felt great. The goal today was to show some of the PAX all of the things that are at Twin Team that we don’t get to much. We all know the hill, track, parking lots but did you know there were so many pull up bars. Consensus was we don’t do enough, or at least the consensus in my mind. Apologies to the Dark Rider aka Mouse Trap, maybe a little more running than he wanted but he managed to modify to avoid hurting too bad. Excellent work today, it was a pleasure to lead you fine gentlemen through the gloom. Have a great Friday.

    Awesome to have the honor to lead these men today. Props to Garbage Plate for coming to Twin Team for the first time. Tclaps to Orange Crush and Mousetrap for coming out despite nagging injuries. Cooper is a welcome addition to the PAX for sure. Not only does he distract PAX from burpees when needed, you can always “blame it on the dog”. Great job today gents!!

The title for today came from those of us who tried to use the swamp for the quarter pounder, and were quickly reminded of why it’s called the swamp – Abort! Abort! – to the track we retreated. YHC enjoyed seeing Wojo back out in the Gloom today. Let’s make it a great day gents! 
  • 2 Ladders and a Game of Horse

    10 Tanks took over the 530 hour at SOJ’s famous Friday AO: Twin Team. With a warm 36 degrees on the t-stat the PAX was eager to take advantage of a “not as cold as we expected morning.”

    Exercise I: Everyone’s Favorite Combo Ladder

    Kicking off YHC’s last SOJ Q of the 2019 calendar year, it was time to bring back the fan favorite Combo Ladder from YHC’s Twin Team Q debut.

    Mosey to the baseline of the black top.

    Bear crawl down to the other baseline and perform 6 exercises in consecutive order:

    • Copperhead Squats; Monkey Humpers; Merkins; Carolina Drydocks; two count flutters; reverse crunches

    lunge back to the baseline only to bear crawl back and repeato the exercises in descending rep count: 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1

    algore or shoot hoops for the six.

    Exercise II: F3 game of Horse

    Each PAX member wages an exercise and shoots. He scores –> rest of the pax completes exercises, PAX member misses -> all complete

    Exercises included: box cutters, no cheat merkins, burpees, front kicks, chuck norris merkins, mtn climbers, flutters, diamond merkins and YHC forgot the rest

    Only two of the PAX members have a shot at the varsity squad….. gloves and a NE Patriots style (deflated) game ball are to blame.

  • No snow but down hill slalom at Twin Team

    11 skiers looking for some down hill action in the cold weather at Twin Team. Here is what went down and up and then back down again.

    Mosey to the back of the ES for COP on the basketball court

    DQ’s, Helicopters, Jazersizes, Hip stretchers, Heals to Heaven and LBC’s

    Recover to mosey and PAX notices that YHC has dropped some trinkets from his pocket. YHC may have made a remark about needing the trinkets for Twin Team. Lots of mumble chatter about how we should make a right turn and head toward the HS rather than the inevitable hill.

    Stop at the monkey bars to stretch the arms out but found the metal bars too slick to really waist our time on

    Mosey to the bottom of the circle at the hill

    A YHC favorite Man Killers to get the calves going and get the cardio ready

    To the top of the hill YHC dropping eight glow stick trinkets along the way on the left then on the right, on the left and then on the right

    At the top let the PAX know this will not be a Twin Team suicide but we will have some fun in a slalom skiing type down hill workout. Twin Team has eight letters and there are eight glow sticks on the hill. As we head down stop and do 10 sets of the exersize that fits the letter from Twin Team. T = Tempo Merkins, W = Imperial Walkers, I = Incline Merkins, N = I have Idea call it LBC’s, T = Tempo Merkins again, E = SSH’s (why not), A = (?) and M = Merkins

    YHC will do a better job planning out the letter to match the exercise next time.

    Get to the bottom, get in line and ride the chair back to the top. We couldn’t find a chair so we made our own (indigenous people run)

    Numbers / Names

    YHC took us out in a little different way asking the PAX to lay on their backs and look at the world in a different way. YHC has had a very humbling experience with low income and had to depend on the government for assistance for a little while. The reason why I did this was not to ask for help for me and my family, God has provided. Its to say low income, poverty hunger is not an intercity only problem it live near you, if you look in a different way you may find the opportunity to help.

    NMS:

    Not a lot to say, we almost had to rename Hermes and Nancy Lopez today. YHC was waiting to hear Hermes toss his Marlowe durring the run back to the top but Upchuck is already taken. Nancy Lopez could be renamed Speedy Gonzales or Stair Climber for his run from the back to the front of the line on the steepest part of Twin Team.
