  • Coming in, as I’m going out

Solo Ruck was on tap for River Run this morning. As I was heading out at 5:15 my (adult) daughter was coming in (an issue to be discussed with her later) but it lead YHC to contemplate my young adult life vs my expectations for my young adult child.

Route was from BWES to the river through the woods and back to BWES. YHC does not have a fancy watch that tells him what the distance is but YHC got back in the truck at 6:30 so it must have been between 2.5 to 3 miles????

Prayed the for forgiveness, strength and wisdom the entire Ruck so I guess we could say YHC took us out

    NMS:

We train up our children in the way that they should go but there are times when they get off track. It’s at these times when we have to remember that we wandered off the track as well. You want your children to learn from your mistakes but there are some mistakes they have to make themselves in order for them to grow, you give them the information to make wise decisions but what they do with that information is now up to them and you need to let go, Doozy, let go.

  • That’s going to leave a mark!!!

Once the Broga session was finished, everyone gathered for what they thought would be a Dealer VQ, 8 found out that they had been dooped and YHC would be leading this party.

Mosey to the front loop for COP and disclaimer

DQs, Helicopters, Run 1 lap around small island, Merkins, Elbow touches, LBCs, Run 1 lap around the island, Imperial Walkers, Copperhead Squats

Mosey to the coved area at the bottom of the hill

Triple Check partners 1 & 2 do Boyah Merkins while partner 3 runs a lap. One partner will always be doing double rounds before he runs. Doublemint had other plans and decided this did not sound like fun, he took a hard fall on the sidewalk that stopped the festivities for a bit. Last Call ran back to get Doublemints car, the PAX helped get him in the drivers seat and away he went. It’s always nice to have an actual Dr in the PAX when these things happen, even if DTH wasn’t 100% able to fix anything YHC thinks it brings a level of calm to a situation knowing there is a professional in the group.

Once that excitement was over we moseyed back across to the bottom of the stairs by the Football field entrance.

Balls to the wall, Hip slappers (IC), 15 Donkey Kicks (OYO), Balls to the wall, Hip slappers (IC), 15 Donkey Kicks (OYO), Dirty Hookups (IC), 15 Donkey Kicks (OYO), Dirty Hookups (IC), 15 Donkey Kicks (OYO)

Partner 1 does tooth fairies up the steps mosey down the hill and back, partner 2 does called exercise

    Dips, Derkins, Incline Merkins

Mosey up to the first parking lot

Last Call asked if we could do Parking Lot Crawls so YHC was happy to grant his request but limited it to 10 spaces

Mosey out to the entrance road by light poles

Lung up hill to next light post finish with just enough time to do about 30 yards of broad jump burpees

    NMS:

Lots of excitement today, the kind you don’t really want at a beatdown. YHC will try to keep up with Doublemint and let the PAX know how he’s doing. Doublemint says he has it on ice and is resting it, he will be going to Ortho on call in a bit so he will know more after that. YHC did say push yourself don’t hurt yourself at the COP but Doublemint must not have heard that part. It is a reminder to us all to watch out for those street monsters, curb catchers and asphalt grabbers its going to be getting darker and they will sneak up on you if your not watching.

  • The devil made me by this dress!

8 Minions made their way out of the gloom to see what the devil or Doozy had conjured up for this mornings beatdown.

I doubt anyone under 50 knows the title of this BB, its a reference to an older comedian named Flip Wilson. Flip Wilson and Bill Cosby where two of the comedians that YHC grew up on because my parents had a record player that I would listen to when my friends were not around. They where the last of the somewhat clean comedians of their day.

  • Who is running today?

10 HIM made their way to SOT, 5 took off for a run and 5 headed out for a bootcamp that turned into a run.

Mosey to the front of the school for a COP

DQ’s, Dead Man Hang, Helicopters, Imperial Walkers, Merkins, Rosalittas or Dollies (Nancy told YHC he was doing the wrong ones, and he was right)

Mosey – Pick up the frisbees and the medicine ball on the way, head to the parking lot next to the track

Place 12 frisbees, 1 per space in the parking lot with the medicine ball closest to the track. At each space do 10 of the exercise on the label of the frisbee and take 1 lap around the track once you get to the medicine ball there is no exercise you just carry the ball around the track.

This was a modified Ball and Chain because the chain is MIA right now. YHC has a bit of a mess in his shed so the chain is buried deep within the abyss. With the track being the timer on this workout it made for a lot of running and none of us made it all the way through the exercises.

  • Half way there

2 regulars decided to run rather than Ruck this morning, the route was from BWES through JRHS cross Robious into River Downs, turn left up the hill turn right on River Downs turn right on Robious BTTF

    NMS:

According to Big Data today is 50 Q’s for Doozy, so half way to YHCs goal of 100 for the year. It was a good time to go a little deeper than just the surface with Singer this morning and YHC is glad we had that time.

  • Not sure if this is better than Putt Putt

5 Southsiders and 1 almost Northsider joined YHC for an early morning round of Burpee Golf. According the guy that was serious about his track work this morning here is what went down.

Mosey to the track for COP

DQs, Helicopters, Imperial Walkers, LBCs, Merkins

Mosey to the goal line of the football field and get the frisbees out

YHC will call a target to shoot at, PAX throws their frisbee at the same time but has to do the number of Burpees of their shot. If its your first shot – 1 Burpee, Second shot – 2 Burpees so on and so forth. If a HIM catches your frisbee you get 5 penalty Burpees plus the shot you’re on Burpees. If the HIM attempts to catch your frisbee and touches it but misses then he has to do the 5 Burpees plus his shot Burpees.

In all we probably finished 10 – 12 rounds

Mosey BTTF – LBCs, American Hammers

Numbers / Names Duke took us out

    NMS:

Posey gets the nod for making the old people do more Burpees but he also had the most missed catches which gave him more Burpees too. These frisbees where $0.17 each at Wal Mart so they don’t fly very well and on a par 4 you can end up shooting well over and if someone catches your frisbee it close to doubles your Burpee count.

  • Just YHC and Andy Stanley

YHC landed at River Run this morning knowing that Doublemint would not be making an appearance but hoping to see Chef Boyardee (DR from CA).

At 5:30 and without a soul in sight YHC grabbed the earpods and weight vest and set out on the Roller Coaster. An Andy Stanley pod cast was found and gave YHC much to ponder along the way. The discussion this morning was on the political divide in this country and how if we could move from the far Right or far Left more to the middle (not to move our political views) but to hear and reason with those of the opposite view we would be far better off as a country and things might actually get done. He sited a ton of scripture (more than YHC can recall) but some of the main points were Loving your neighbor, serving not being served and having ears to hear truth.

  • Getting back on the SOJ Q sheet

7 bootcampers 1 walker and 3 runners made their way out of the Gloom to see what YHC and Posey had in store for them.

Mosey to the bottom of the hill for the COP

After being gone for a week getting back on the SOJ Q sheet was a must for YHC and now that baseball will be on a short break Posey wanted to start going to some of the beatdowns. YHC told him that the beatdowns are free of charge but the cost is what you put into it, he will be on the Q sheet from time to time for sure.

  • Doozy brought a Prostitute and a Beast to Myrtle

7 Regulars showed up to the Plank for a Doozy Q for a second go round this week. Starting at 4:45 we put in about 2 miles before the beatdown.

One of the best AOs on the planet, its a football field with astro turf and a rubber track around it. At 5:15 the lights automatically come on and stay on until the beatdown is done.

Another great AO with a great group of guys. Candy Cane hooked YHC up with a spot to Q for my last beatdown in Myrtle Beach, we will be heading back to RVA after a quick baseball game in the morning. YHC was a little surprised that these guys had never heard of a Beast or a four corners Prostitute, so they got educated on both. There was a lot of forth F (feedback) during the beating but in the end everyone had a good time. SYITG

  • Bomb Squad in Myrtle Beach gets a Doozy Q

11 Regulars and 1 traveler show up at 4:45 (yes 4:45) for a 3 mile pre-run ans then a beat down at 5:15.

    COP in the parking lot

    DQ’s – 5 Burpees, Helicopters – 4 Burpees, Hillbillies (they liked the added jump) – 3 Burpees, Imperial Squat Walkers – 2 Burpees, LBC’s – 10 Burpees

This was my first ever Q outside of RVA and YHC had the best time. I have been to many other AO’s and learned all kinds of new things but to be able to get out and get after it with a group that you don’t know and at an AO that you’re only vaguely familiar with is a different experience all together. Thanks to Cross Stitch and the gang for letting me lead and if you’re ever in Myrtle Beach look these guys up (Nameorama will be posted in the comments).
