  • A great start to summer

35 PAX converged downtown again for our annual Memorial Day convergence. Weather was a good 30 degrees cooler than in 2019 but the PAX worked up an ample sweat.

COP on Browns Island then split up PAX into 2 groups. Group 1 had Qs from YHC, Corned Beef, Upchuck, and Helix. Upchuck tried to kill the PAX with 11s on the Westrock steps. We were asked to leave the stairs midway through, rumors of a PAX flashing a security guard to have us kicked off were never confirmed but seem plausible.

PAX 2 had Handshake Q at the start then fun from there. Looked like plenty of Burpees on the island. As our tradition we met back up and found our way up to the VA War Memorial. Walk through for a moment of reflection then 22 HRMs and a BOM at the top. Number and Namorama at the bottom. Great 2nd F with refreshments at the end.

NMS: Wow 35 PAX back out, this morning was just perfect. What a great way to start summer off. Glad everyone got to hang around for food and drink afterward, although Hardywood had to split early for a bike date he arranged on Grinder last night. Great to see Emoji and Carpenter posting with this group before they move on to their new cities. YHC worries how Carpenter can help plant some new F3 AOs in NJ once the names Big Pussy and Fat Tony are taken. TClaps to EF Hutton to donated the OJ and English Muffins for the 2nd F even though he is on the IR.

Annoucements: June monthly challenge will be a Passport challenge, similar to a Summer Tour but just for June. Check Slack for details.

  • Simple for Saturday

YHC and 2.0 assembled pasta and meatballs and bread sticks for dinner. Dropoff was easy and a good discussion about gratitude with Wick d on way back.

  • Looking forward to some Ronald

A prime 11 found RVAs darkest AO to have some sunlight in the COP.

COP: SSH, Don Qs, Imperial Walkers, Reverse Crunches, Merkins, Scorpion Kicks. Mosey over to 3rd lot:

THE THANG: 11s of HRMs and V-Ups. Over to secret coupon garden, a few seconds of Boat & Cano then Partner up: 3 Rounds of Thrusters while other runs the lot. 60 Block presses. 4 corners with blocks lunging between of 25 Squats, Swings, and Curls4theGirls.

Drop coupons and head down to Triple check loop. Triple was Donkey Kicks, WWIIs and the loop. Finish with “Bearrow the Loop” aka 5 merkins at each arrow the main lot with bear crawl in between. Back to flag with an impromptu BOM-COT. YHC took us out.

Announcements: Memorial Day at Tredegar downtown 7:00. Be there if you’re in town. Breaking Bread needs summer Qs.

NMS: Nice numbers, great weather, and ample light this morning. YHC had toyed with a tax day theme but didn’t feel right without our resident accountant EF Hutton out there with us. Apparently Thrusters have been added to YHC’s favorite things list to go alongside Donkey Kicks, Bear Crawl, and Scorpion Kicks.

The Ball of Man COT felt good to try again, sorry if that bothered anyone. Bodos has forgotten how bad we smell. BB title is a reference to good round of mumblechatter afterward. Shiplap’s presence at First Watch has been formally requested so he might win a OSOTW award.

  • Handshake Repellant

A lucky 13 warriors shook off the fartsack to start their Tuesday off right. YHC picked up some new coupons yesterday and we needed all of them.

COP: SSH, Don Qs, Block Squats, Alternating block merkins, Flutterkics.

THE THANG: 30 Minutes of Fun: 10 Derkins at near side bleachers, 20 Donkey Kicks on Concession Stand, 30 Benchkicks on far bleachers, 40 Block Presses at halffield. Repeato but increase reps by 5 each lap until time called at 30 minutes.

Some Mary then introduce Block the Plank to HBR Pax: Elbow Plank with block on back while other does 20 Thrusters. 2 rounds each. Drop coupons back and finish at flag. YHC took us out. Prayers for Bodos dissertation defense, although he is a lock after reading his Thesis title: “Integration of Parkour moves into Sunday Worship”

NMS: Third time around for this timed loop thing. Still seeking an appropriate name. Maybe Handshake Repellant?? as he opted for the fartsack this morning. Had he posted we might have set a HBR record of 14.

Gypsy was so excited he slowed down to stay near YHC and express his gratitude. Probation, Seymore, and Homer set the pace getting well into the 7th lap.

Announcements: Convergence on Memorial Day 5/31 0700. Belle Isle. We’re back on with our Memorial day tradition. 3rd F tonight with Florence on the Q, all are welcome. Last day for F3 monogram shirts for this round is Friday. See Slack for detail on all of these.

  • Way to work, bitch!

A strong 10 made their way to First Watch expecting rain after Kubota’s predictions of thunderstorms yesterday. At 5:00 neither the Thunderstorms or Kubota were there so off we went:

COP in the main church lot: Invisible Jumpropes, Don Qs, Jazzercise, Merkins, LBCs, and Scorpion Kicks.

Grab a spot: Bear Crawl halfway, 10 WWIIs, 15 HRMs, and back to space. Crab Walk to line, Heels2Heaven, then CDDs and back. Broad Jump Burpees, 20 V-Ups, 20 Merkins. Last round Bear Crawl full lenght of lot then 15 HRMs. Partner up for Wheelbarrow up the lenght of the lot.

Mosey over to HC-MP for Triple Check. Triple check of: Jump Squats, Flutterkicks, run the triangle.

Mosey to Coupon drop zone. Grab a block then partner up for Block the Plank. 1 man elbow plank with Coupon on the back while partner does 20 Thrusters. Switch then repeato again. Finish block time with 60 Block presses. Finish with APDs and American Hammers. Handshake took us out.

NMS: Strong numbers even with several FW regulars out. Glad to have Pucker and Lockjaw out in the early gloom. No rain at all but more than ample humidity for the PAX to take on. Triple Check in the triangle always allows for mumblechatter. Bodos attempted varying motivational techniques on the PAX.

This was the 2nd attempt at Block the Plank with some of the PAX having been their on the initial trial run. In the humidity and at the end this was even more popular than the first time. Only one Coupon was harmed in the process. Handshake shared his friend in TX received a good diagnosis. If you are bored this weekend consider joining Bodos for some Competitive hedge trimming, Extreme Egg scrambling, or Bird watching competition.

  • Hot Potato Pills

Seven strong answered the call to RVAs earliest AO wondering whether there would be a Whiteboard appearance. Instead a Hot Potato Q was served up instead:

Upchuck Q: Mosey to The COP of: SSH, Dead man hangs, APDs, Rosalitas, Jazzercises, minor stretching. Head over to main church lot and partner up: Touch a Post: Start at 10 posts then down to 2. Exercises were WWIIs, Pickle Pounders, Squats, CDDs, Burpees.

Kubota Q: Prostitute (in the church lot) of: 10 each corner of: Merkins, Jump Squats, Monkey Jumpers, WWII(?)s. Q was passed to YHC:

Honeydo Q: Mosey back to coupon drop zone. Gather in center of lot. 60 Coupon Presses. 15 Thrusters, bear crawl to one end run back, 15 Thrusters + 20 Swings, Bernie Sanders other way and back. Next round add 25 Block Squats then run full loop with 5 burpees at light. 60 more Block Presses then deposit Coupons and American Hammers to finish time at flag. Handshake took us out.

Announcements: Blood Drive this Saturday, please give. Prayers for EF Hutton continued recovery.

NMS: First off good to have Bacon Bits out after receiving his all clear to resume workouts yesterday. The PAX were wondering if Handshake would post after his 2nd jab yesterday afternoon. Luckily he did with the only side effect apparently being excessive whining before beatdowns.

Touch-A-Post took a while but gave us time to ponder why a church would have so many signs in the parking lot, which YHC assumes was Upchuck’s intent. Some may say calling a Prostitute in the church parking lot is scandalous but Kubota does have some sway with RRbC to get away with it. No real OSOTW material this morning as the PAX were hoping Splinter would post after the text thread yesterday.

  • More fun the 2nd time around

A tenacious ten took to the forbidden football field on a beautiful morning for the 2nd iteration of this timed loop beatdown. Before that we did:

COP: SSH, Hillbillies w/rooster in background for extra flair, Don Qs, HRMs (Handshake-Release Merkins) with full arm extension, LBCs, Scorpion Kicks. Mosey down to collect coupons and start in middle of field.

30 Minutes of: 10 Derkins on benches, 20 Donkey Kicks at Concession stand, 30 Benchkicks on other benches, then 40 Block Bench presses. 1 loop. Each loop increase reps by 5. Time called at 6:10. Deposit coupons back then 2 min of mary on the field then back to Flag. Gypsy took us out.

Annoucements: Blood Drive 5/1. Sign up to give. Tomato Run Relay on 4/24. Sign up for BRR. 3rd F tonight at 8:00 on Zoom.

NMS: This is the 2nd iteration of this timed loop beatdown. Revisions from 1st were added time, 30 minutes from 25 last time, and block bench presses instead of Block Swings. All pax ended up around 6 loops with the speedsters taking on a set of 40 Derkins for round 7. Bacon Bits took this on while nursing his calf, aye!

Nice mumblechatter before and after. If your considering getting the vaccine please reach out to Atilla, he’s happy to discuss the pros & cons. Congrats to Roger Roger on his house selling & move.

  • You can take the boy away from his Miata, you can’t take the Miata out of the boy

You can take the boy away from his Miata, you can’t take the Miata out of the boy

    A perfect Six chose to be camera shy and play in the mud instead. We did;

COP in top field: SSH (elbow bend optional), Imperial Walkers, Russian Soldiers, Merkins, Flutterkicks, Scorpion Kicks.

Field of Dreams: Run between Lightposts on the field. First Round – 8 HRMs at each post. 2nd Round – 16 Jumpsquats.

Mosey down to Coupon zone, grab a coupon, then over to Heartbreak Hill. 4 rounds of: 10 V-Ups at the top, 15 Thrusters at the bottom. Over to bleachers. 4 Rounds of: 10 Block Pullovers & 25 Benchkicks.

Drop off coupons and head over to front of track & Lucia memorial- 12 burpees for the 12 year old senselessly killed on Friday. Back to flag, few seconds of Mary. Atilla took us out.

Announcements: 3rd F tonight at 8:00. Blood Drive on 5/1. Doublemint led service opportunity this Saturday after Dogpile.

NMS: The field turned out to be a lot wetter than YHC anticipated but the pax knocked Field of Dreams out. Appears some PAX are opting for the BMI clearance to qualify for the Jab. Ample mumblechatter about a HBR favorite – Ronnie’s Miata obsession. Turns out he did test drive a 95 Miata last week. YHC looks forward to the day he sees Ronnie pull up to HBR in the gloom in a 20th century Miata again.

  • F3 names that end in “Y”

4 faithful took advantage of the perfect temps at Twin Team. The rain held off but the PAX found plenty of mud. We did:

COP in front of stadium: SSH, Don Qs, Imperial Walkers, Merkins, LBCs. Over to covered area benches. Partner up: One pax runs parking lot length & back while other does: Box Jumps, Dips, Donkey Kicks.

Mosey over to stadium for catch me if you can: Bear Crawl & 10 HRMs, Lunge & Jump squats, Crab Walk & 2 burpees. Backwards run & 10 HRMs. Stop for some mary then over to BWES playground. 5 sets of: 6 Pullups & 12 Squats. Over to mini-blacktop for karaoke & burpees. start at 2 then increase by 2 up to 10. Back over to front of BW for Peoples chair & 20 merkins. Finish back at flag with Pickle Pounders.

NMS: Before the beatdown Doozy shared that he was worried about being late this morning but still was the first at the AO. Doozy and Swirly both take securing the AO seriously. Not a ton of mumblechatter this morning, all just enjoying the perfect 62 degree weather. Safe travels for Doozy to SC. On the partner work somehow the 2 speedsters Tobit and Doozy ended up together.

Announcements: Blood Drive 5/1. DaVille relay coming up.

  • So close to regular glove weather

Seven strong swore off the fartsack and came out to find hospitable temps and dry ground. We did:

The COP: SSH, Don Qs, Russian Soldiers, Merkins, Reverse Cruches, Scorpion Kicks. Over to the main RR lot for Triple Check (+1) of: Run to baptist bus and back, HRMs, Jumps Squats. Mosey back to Coupon drop zone (thanks Last call!) for some coupon 4 corners:

Corner 1: 60 Block presses, 40 Squats. Corner 2: 30 Curls and 40 AL softball players.

Corner 3: 40 Overhead presses while other PAX Elbow planks with block on back (aka Block the Plank) Corner 4: 20 WWIIs with block and 40 lunges.

PAX had some much fun why not Repeato. After 2nd round then another set of Block the Plank while other PAX does 40 Block swings. Back to flag & YHC took us out. Continues prayers for Upchuck’s MIL.

NMS: EF Hutton shared that he slept poorly last night but posted anyway so expected YHC to make it worth it. Either he made the right choice or Handshake did by fartsacking, we’ll let them decide. This was declared a no-headlamp beatdown so Splinter opted out as well.

Last Call’s donation of blocks are of the full size & weight variety. Upchuck is underwriting Coupon insurance. For just $1 a year you can get coverage for any coupon damage, unless your Bodos – his premium is $50.

Bacon Bits 10k training starts next week.
