Author: Honey Do

  • Shiplap will be getting a haircut

Seventeen strong braved the rain and fog and were pleased to find freshy cut grass across the AO, albeit not bagged.

COP: SSH, Russian Soldiers, Don Qs, Merkins, Arm Circles, LBCs, Scorpion Kicks. Mosey to end of street for:

Burpee Road: 2 Burpees at every light up & back. Then over to Carrillon field. Partner Up – Wheelbarrow across and back 2 times. Stay together for PLTs: 3 sets of 25 each.

Rusty Cage: 4 sets of – 6 Pull-ups & 10 Dips. Over to the bowl behind Amphitheater: 5 rounds of up & back with 10 upside down WWIIs and 15 Merkins on the side.

Amphitheater: 5 Box Jumps each step – all the way up. Finish with some time in the Honeymoon Suite to honor Wojo’s big day today.

Announcements: Hardywood’s Alpaca-palooza for today has been CANCELLED and will be rescheduled. Iron PAX will be Tuesday’s at all AOs except for Spider Run. So if you want soccer arms go to Spider Run, otherwise sign up for the next 4 Tuesday and particpate in the IronPAX challenge, see Boberry’s Pre-blast

NMS: A lot of sore pax from the 10k yesterday slowed or kept PAX out this am. Still 17 in the rain were ready to go, including Bone Thugs, aye! DTH double dipped, leaving at the Rusty Cage to go take the Q at Gridiron. Not sure that has been done before.

On the initial mosey Malpractice mentioned he had never attended a Honeydo Q before which doesn’t seem possible. Been a while since we did a Burpee road but the darkness at 6 is back.

The field for PLTs was good with all the newly cut grass as everyone was properly covered in grass clippings. At the Rusty Cage we were met with a Box Jump box at the bottom along with several huge boulders, like too big for Swirly to pick up….

Box Jumps seemed to take it out of everyone but spirits picked up when we earned our time in the Honeymoon Suite. YHC was hoping Wojo would post so he could have some last second practice.

Good times at ETs including at Circle K sighting.

  • First Watch joins the block party fad

An elite 3 found coupons waiting in the COP. We did:

COP: SSH, Russian Soldiers, Flutterkicks, merkins, IMperial Walkers. Grab a coupon next to the road. Setup for Triple Check: SitNPress, Curls, and Lunge with Cinder block. 60 Block bench presses. Some Alabama Softball players, then leave block behind.

Mosey over to Cameron St and down. Way back 10 Merkins on mailboxes on left side, 10 WWIIs on right. Back to HSP (Henrico’s smallest park) and pick up coupon: KB Swings alternating hands, Squats. Over to RRB lot: Bear Crawl half lot, jog rest. Sprint length back to blocks in HSP. Some more Bench presses and Squats. Back to flag for 2 min of mary, shift 20 yards upwind thanks to EF Hutton. LBCs, Heels2Heaven, & American Hammers.

Announcements: 10k Friday morning at 5:15 or whatever your anticipated 10k finish time will be to get there at 6:15. Iron PAX week one starts next week, still plenty of time to sign up.

NMS: With 2 of our “softer’ regulars for First Watch at the beach this week YHC wanted to bust out some cinder blocks for a more challenging workout. Last Call and Hutton made it look easy. During the Block curls some of the PAX got flashbacks of Marmaduke’s bicep burner at Dogpile.

  • Predictable Pax

A total of 9 PAX eventually made it out to Hearbreak Ridge on another muggy morning. Fireball from Houston joined us for:

COP: SSH, Russian Soldiers, Merkins, Helicopters, Flutterkicks, Scorpion Kicks.

Triple Check: Chicken Peckers, WWIIs, & run the loop. Mosey off to basketball courts in back. 10 merkins at each hoop, with bear crawl between all 6 baskets. Down to the Jerkin Gym: 4 sets of 8 Jerkins.

Over to the benches: 30 Benchkicks & 20 Squats. 2 more rounds increasing both by 10 each time. Head over to namesake Heartbreak hill for Fireball:

Run up 3 burpees, back down. Up & 5 burpees at top, back down. Up again 10 WWIIs, back down. Finish back up with 20 Merkins. Back to flag for 2 min of Mary. Atilla took us out.

NMS: At 5:28 with 6 PAX waiting to start Fireball asked how many PAX does HBR normally have. Atilla responded “6-10” and said in the next 90 seconds Lighthouse would pull up soon followed by Handshake as we would hit 5:30. True to form Lighthouse pulls in at 5:29 and Handshake is getting out of his car as we start our mosey at 5:30. Not wanting to be outdone Probation arrives 2 minutes late and tracks us down in the COP. It is nice to know some things you can set your watch to in these uncertain times.

YHC did not realize half the PAX didn’t have gloves until the end of the bear crawl across the basketball courts, sorry. Fireball seemed to enjoy his introduction to Jerkins and said Heartbreak hill would be the biggest hill in all of Houston. Someday YHC hopes to be able to run with reckless abandon like watching Howler run down Heartbreak hill.

Announcements: Bone Thugs VQ thursday, Fall retreat and cornhole Pre-blasts are up. 10k next Friday at RAMM. Also Iron PAX signup still open – join in on the fun, see Slack for details.

  • A welcome visitor

13 came out from across the area, including our visitor from Nashville, to Hoedown to see how much bear crawl YHC would serve up. We did

COP on blacktop: SSH, Don Qs, Russian Soliders, Merkins, Flutterkicks, Scorpion kicks. Down to bottom of Lindsay.

Partner-up: 1 PAX start bear crawling up hill, other does 15 HRMs then run to catch up & flap-jack. Mosey to field at back of TES. Partner up again: 3 rounds of 10 Pull-ups & step ups.

Over to 3rd parking lot. 4 Corners: 10 Burpees, 20 HRMs, 30 WWIIs, 40 Jump Squats. 2nd round increase all by 5. Back to Triple check loop: Balls2Wall, LBCs, run loop. Call time and back to flag. Toga took us out.

Announcements: Probation VQ tomorrow. Hill run and HDHH at 5:30 at YHCs place.

NMS: PAX just kept rolling in steadily from 5:20 until 5:30. We were at the perfect pax # of 12 until Garbage Plate pull in to give us a prime number PAX of 13. YHC didn’t realize an F3RVA OG Toga was in the pax until the COP, as Hoedown is getting darker by the week. COP on the blacktop was a mistake as it felt like we were on a hot plate.

Any PAX who were at Dogpile on Saturday must have hated the pull-ups since their arms were still sore. There were ample groans from the PAX on the 2nd round of 4 corners so much so that YHC debated a 3rd round with another increase but we were short on time at that point. Roger Roger took a break behind the dumpster during that 2nd round but said it was to stretch his back not spill Merlot.

Lastly so good to have Toga back in the gloom at F3RVA. His ability to dish out and take Mumblechatter is top notch. Hopefully we’ll see him back in the gloom at other AOs this week.

  • You vs. You vs. Humidity

A fearless five emerged from the fartsack for First Watch. Somehow the rainstorm last night made things even more humid but we fought on:

COP: Invisible Jump ropes, Don Qs, Russian Soldiers, Merkins, LBCs (no time for Scorpion kicks)

11s: HRMs and Box Jumps. 50 Reverse Crunches. Run length of front of church between. Lunge alleyway to back entrance:

Dora 123: 100 Burpees, 200 LBCs, 300 Monkey Humpers. Mosey to other entrace: 20 Derkins, Bear Crawl then run rest of lot & LBCs. Crab Walk back. Mosey back to front of church for few min of Mary: Freddy Mercurys, Flutterkics, Heels2Heaven. Back to flag.

Announcements: Hill Run & HH next Wednesday 7/29 at YHCs place, see slack for info. Capital Trail CSAUP is coming but nobody knows any details…

NMS: Truly the dog days of summer, PAX was drenched in sweat in the COP. We had a perfect 4 PAX at 4:59 until Handshake rolled in to give YHC a prime number PAX.

Hardest part about the 11s to start was the bog part of the field right next to the bricks. Several PAX got stuck in this Swamp of Sadness but nobody was overcome by the sadness and sank in like Artax from the Neverending Story did.

The veteran PAX of First Watch is always game for a challenge but there was a hint of mutiny in the air when the 100 burpees were called. Luckily we got started and knocked them out. Worse than burpees are high volume Monkey Jumpers then having to run. Hutton did remark Monkey Humpers are harder when not done in Saab’s driveway.

Good to see Last Call knows how to find the AO and he is now a regular, especially impressive as he has to cross the James to get to the AO while other Tuckahoe vets who live a 7-iron golf shot away from the AO stay in the fartsack.

  • CCPS Mulch budget is still flush

4 faithful made it out to Twin Team and wondered were the piles of Mulch around the school part of the Q’s plan for the beatdown? Instead we took off and did:

COP: SSH, Imperial Walkers, Don Qs, Merkins, Flutterkicks.

THE THANG: Down to the big parking lot. 4 sets of 3 lightposts. Start at 1 burpee, run to next one then do 2 Burpees, all the way up to 12th light. That’s 78 Burpees!

Over to baseball stadium: 4 rounds of: Benchkicks and Derkins. Benchkicks start at 20 then increase by 10, Derkins stay at 10 reps. Over to BWES field: Lunge across, Pickle poumders, Bernie back then 20 WWIIs. Karaoke across then Flutterkicks.

Over to playground: 4 sets of 8 Pull-ups. Then back to field for spring across, 20 HRMs, spring back then 20 more HRMs. Mosey back to flag with a few stops for bear crawl and mary. BoBerry took us out.

Announcements: Puppy Pile this Sunday, 7:00 am at NoToll. SlipNslide is rumored to make an appearance again.

NMS: Strong showing from the PAX this morning. Escalating burpees right off the bat will get the blood flowing. Doozy was already warmed up after almost hitting a deer coming into the AO. He made the burpees look easy.

Several piles of mulch sitting around BWES waiting to be spread out or played with. BoBerry, always on the lookout for a Q theme or angle, kept eyeing the piles. Both the baseball field and BWES field were in perfect condition this morning- well mowed and not too dewy. Bullseye audible’d every exercise YHC called which he said was because of an Ab injury but YHC was starting to get a complex by the end.

  • Last call for Last Call

3 First Watch regulars found a lost FW newbie to make it 4 for a beautifully cool summer morning beatdown. We did:

COP of 3: SSH, Don Qs, Imperial Walkers, Merkins, LBC. Start mosey to church main lot (find Last Call on the way) and start of with a Lindsay of: Hand Release Merkins & V-Ups.

Dora 123: 100 Mtn Climbers, 200 American Hammers, & 300 SSH. Over to side wall for 3 rounds of: 30 Donkey Kicks, lunge across then 20 Jump Squats. Back to Kettlebells. 2 rounds of: Swings, Sit-n-Press, Cleans, 4th runs the lot loop. Finish up with 2 min of mary: APDs, Freddy Mercurys, Reverse Crunch. Announcements & YHC took us out.

NMS: Lighter numbers at First Watch this morning but no real rain to bother us PAX. During the COP we saw a SUV circle the lot a few times but not on the other side of River lot where we normally park. Luckily we were able to track down Last Call and promptly dropped a Lindsay with 100 HRMs on him right away. Prayers for Kubota who is getting a puppy this weekend.

Announcements: HR-HDHH at Kubota’s next Wednesday. 3rd F next Tuesday, check Slack for details. 4th of July Convergence at No Toll 6:00 am.

  • Feels normal again

23 PAX made their way out to Dogpile to safely gather in Phase 2. Temps in the 60s with low humidity made it for perfect beatdown conditions.

COP: SSH, Don Qs, Imperial walkers, Merkins, Flutterkicks, Scorpion Kicks.

Mosey down to Backstage block storage to retrieve and drop blocks. Leave them there, down to Rusty Cage. Triple check of: Burp-Ups, Dips, and run to blocks – 10 Squats, then back.

Head down Pipe Loop for a Proper Dora: 10 Merkins, 20 WWIIs, 30 Jump Squats. Then up the hill back to Rugby. BoxCutters and Squats to gather the pax. Bottom of Rugby partner up: Bear Crawl catch me if you can. 3 burpees then run up to crawler. Back to flag then quick mary til we hit 7:00.

NMS: Today felt like Dogpile like normal for the first time in a while. New Market back in the mix with their mumbechatter (really just Wilson) and a large PAX over 20.

Hitchhiker took a spill on the pipe loop and several PAX helped him up and out. Flipper busted out some Mr. Miagi magic on his foot and looks like he’ll be ok. Rumor has it Bodos also blessed Hitch’s ankle with holy water since he disappeared. Qs feel like they have to use the PipeLoop in the limited summer weeks where we have daylight but then remember how much it sucks. 5 trips through per PAX was enough.

Good to have some newer PAX out like Zillow and Winehouse. YHC promptly was told to shave of the stache upon his arrive home.

  • Thumos

8 PAX, including the ever elusive flying EH FNG, came out on a truly 70 and sunny morning to soak in the humidity. Fudd missed the balmy RVA weather so much he drove in from CO to get a sweat on.

COP: SSH, Don Qs, Flutterkicks, Imperial Walkers, Merkins (no scorpion kicks 🙁

Mosey to dip bars for Dora 123: 100 Dips, 200 LBCs, 300 SSH. Then onto blacktop for 4 corners: 5 Burpees, 10 WWIIs, 15 HRMs, 20 Jump squats. Hitchhiker had so much fun he asked us to double it: 10 Burpee, 20 WWIIs, 30 HRMs, 40 Jump Squats.

Tennis courts: Lunge first court, 5 HRMs. Broad jump to 2nd court, 10 HRMs, Bear Crawl to 3rd court – 15 HRMs, Crab walk full length of courts then 20 HRMs.

Soccer field for: Wheelbarrow across (alternating) then 25 WWIIs. Back to flag for some Mary then YHC took us out.

NMS: 5 years ago today YHC showed up to 45MoM out of shape not knowing anyone there after hearing about F3 from my wife after she heard about it from the moms at the pool. 5 years later to say that F3 and this PAX have changed YHC for the better is a gross understatement.

What a great morning this was: FNG Bandito came out after Upchuck’s EH last week. On the other side it was Old School this morning with Fudd back in the Gloom. He is back for a month in RVA with his family visiting VA. Let’s get organized on the 4th Annual Fudd leaving RVA party later this month!

Mumblechatter was light this morning as the humidity took a toll. The days of sweating out 10 pounds during a beatdown are upon us.

  • Everyone has sore arms

9 noble warriors took to the misty gloom at HBR for a supposed arm friendly beatdown. Here is what we did:

COP in front of track facing road: SSH, Don Qs, Helicopters, Merkins, Flutterkicks, Scorpion Kicks. Head over to baseball fields for

Dora 123: 100 WWIIs, 200 Carolina Dry Docks, 300 Jump Squats. Head on down to benches for: 4 sets of Benchkicks & Box Jumps. Box Jumps stay at 5 while benchkicks start at 20 and go up by 10 to finish at 50.

Jerkin Gym time: 3 sets of 8 Jerkins. Then over to Heartbreak hill. Run up, 1 burpee, down then 2 burpees, repeato until you reached 8 (or 10 if you’re Probation) then back to flag for some mary. YHC took us out.

Announcements: New virtual 3rd F tonight at 8:00. See slack for details.

NMS: Another morning of strong numbers. Between the dogpile and gridiron Murph attendees most of the PAX arms were spent from the 100 Pullups & 200 Merkins yesterday. YHC promised to focus on abs and take it easy on the arms, without a said plan at 5:30.

Good to have Ronnie and Howler out. Howler was doing a full body Alabama Prom Date on the Jerkins but at 11 hard to judge him.

Greenbow and Pucker were team red today. Handshake joined us late in the COP, some days coming out to the gloom is the remedy to get your mind off what is going on at home. Saying goodbye to the longtime family pet is never easy, unless it is a cat.

At the end Probation shared with the PAX he can’t wait to sign up for his VQ. He just can’t figure out which AO gets to pop his Q-cherry. Heartbreak Ridge is very kind to VQs…
