  • 3 for Triple Chex

Three came out for some fun at DaPile. At 6:30 it was just YHC and Yard Sale looking at a Clydesdale friendly beat down until Opus rolled in hot. With 3 in tow we went off:

COP: SSH, Don Qs, Squats, Helicopters, Merkins, LBCs, Incorrect Scorpion Kicks.

1st Triple Check: WWIIs, Jump Squats, & run loop and back. Mosey over to back fields: 4 Corners: 10 burpees, 20 Merkins, 30 WWIIS, 40 Squats. Add in some Mary. Mosey way back to football stadium.

2nd Triple Check: Monkey Humpers, Reverse Crunch, run to middle of football lot. Long mosey back to flag & 1 min of Mary. YHC took us out.

NMS: Nice way to finish up Westhoe Takeover in Daville. YHC hadn’t seen Opus or Yard Sale in a while so good to catch up with those dudes. Some Daville runners were absent, traveling south for the Homegrown Half/10k, although apparently Phonics was leading a disinformation campaign saying it was 6:00 PM today, not am. Classic Phonics, always looking for a leg up. Opus shared his shoulder is still messed up so we kept it light on the Merkins and instead ended up doing a fair amount of running, much to Yard Sale’s dismay.

  • Special Permit needed to workout on the grass at Twin Team

Five PAX came out to see which Westhoe Q was up for Twin Team this morning. YHC took the reigns and we had fun:

COP: SSH, Don Qs, Ukrainian Soldiers, Merkins, Pencil Roll, Heels2Heaven, Pencil Roll, Scorpion kicks.

11s across the field: HRMs and WWIIs. This took some time, for everyone but Rosie.

Down to police lights by the track. 3 Burpees at every lightpost up to the baseball bleachers. Stop for 4 rounds of: 30 Benchkicks & 15 Derkins. Up to the BWES field for 4 Corners: 10 HRMs, 20 WWIIs, 30 LBCs, 40 Jumpsquats. Over to the blacktop for some more HRMs and lunges. Back to the flag for 1 min of Mary. YHC took us out.

NMS: Solid PAX this morning with some veteran SOJers. 11s on the field ate up some time and we got to learn about going rate on Country Club initiation fees around town, ouch. Apparently staying close to campus and playing in the grass is not the norm in the summer at TT. Still good to visit and Q one of the best AOs SOJ.

  • Cooler temps are coming

Five faithful started their Monday wondering which Westhoean would be taking the Q for TT week. We did:

COP: SSH, Don Qs, Imperial Walkers, Merkins, LBCs.

Over to basketball courts: 15 HRMs at each hoop, with alternate bear crawl and lunges. 2nd round 15 Heels2heaven each hoop then alternate Bernie Sanders & side lunge. Throw in some pickle pounders and over to soccer field: 4 Corners: 10 burpees, 20 merkins, 30 Reverse crunch, 40 Jump squats. 2nd round increase by 10: Merkins, WWIIs, Monkey Humpers, & SSH.

Over to Tennis courts for a few rounds of sprints then back to the flag for 2 min of Mary.

NMS: Always good to make the trip up to Daville. Solid mix of PAX YHC hadn’t seen in some time including Trout, and newer guys like Beat It. On the fields there was ample breeze and it felt almost fall-like while we were on the 4 Corners.

Announcements: More Westhoe Takeovers this week. Set your alarm clock, especially if you are signed up to Q.

  • A Chotchkie free beatdown

Eight eager PAX found their way to Dogpile on a muggy July morning. After the Q put down some cough drops we did:

COP: SSH, Don Qs, Imperial Walkers, Merkins, Flutterkicks. Over to Amphitheatre: Increasing dips on the way down each step. PAX were thoroughly covered in grass clippings so off we went to penny stage: Dora 123: 100 Derkins, 200 WWIIs, 300 Jump Squats. Instead of run Bear Crawl to lamppost and run back.

3 Rounds of 20 PLTs, then down to Rusty Cage. 4 rounds of: 6 Pullups & 10 Dips. Back to Carillon field: Few rounds of lunge, Bernie, & sprints. Introduce Gambler to Pickle Pounders. Finish up with some step ups & dips on steps then back to flag for 2 min of Mary.

Announcements: August Ultimate and Pickleball tournaments. Sign up and practice.

NMS: Good mix of PAX this morning with some Vets and some newbies. YHC was worried with a van-ful of PAX headed to the Bridge today with some Dogpile regulars it might be a smaller PAX, but 8 allowed us to have some fun. Choo Choo got after it and Swoop was setting the pace today. Coffee after was a blast and Gomer joined us there.

  • Knocking off the Q rust

A sweaty seven HBR stalwarts came out to see how much sweat we could leave on the pavement. We did:

COP: Helicopters, Imperial Walkers, Ukrainian Soldiers, Squats, Merkins, LBCs, Scorpion Kicks.

Over to covered area: grab a pole and boxing cockroach while end PAX does 2 burpees then leapfrog down the line. Head to benches next 2 tennis courts: 3 rounds of 30 Benchkicks & 15 Derkins. Then over to basketball hoops. 10 HRMs at each hoop with bear crawl & lunge between. 2nd round was Jump Squats.

Mosey down to track. Take advantage of cones on field. Mix of sprints, jog with some merkins and burpees thrown in. Finish up with 3 rounds of 8 Jerkins. Back to flag for 2 min of Mary.

Announcements: Come rock out with Whitesnake’s band at Hardywood this weekend.

NMS: Just a plain hot July morning beatdown. Too hot for mumblechatter even.

  • Worth remembering

10 strong came out to perfect 70 degree & sunny weather to celebrate American awesomeness on the 80th Anniversary of D-Day. With Limey visiting from Charlotte we did:

COP: SSH, Don Qs, Imperial Walkers, Ukrainian Soldiers, Merkins, Flutterkicks, Scorpion kicks.

Mosey to soccer fields: 4 Corners with 20 rounds each corner. Round 1: Merkins, Round 2: Heels2Heaven, Round 3: Jumpsquats, Round 4: LBCs. Back over to blacktop for an easy Dora until Handshake complained so Audible to:

Dora 80th style: 80 Burpees, 160 Merkins, 240 LBCs. Back to flag for 2 min of Mary. YHC took us out.

NMS: Nice to have 10 out a 45MoM. Appreciate Kubota’s promo last night. YHC was struck while thinking about this being the 80th anniversary of D-Day that our kids & younger generation have no first-hand knowledge of WWII as all those from that timeframe have passed away. Growing up we all had direct exposure to WWII veterans somehow, many as family members we looked up to in awe. With that generation passing away those stories are fading into the past and sadly will be lost to history if we do not share these stories with our kids. What the US accomplished in WWII was incredible and should be celebrated until the end of time. As a buddy of mine says the best part of Band of Brothers was the clips of the Veterans at the beginning. So with school out and time on our hands sit your kids in front of the TV and have them watch some history & remind them how lucky we are to live in this great nation. Then tell them stories about your family members who served and make sure their memories live on another generation.

Additionally if you want to teach your kids some real history take them to Berkeley Plantation this summer..

  • He’s got Wilfred Brimley Thighs

A terrific ten found it sunny and 70 to start at Heartbreak this morning. After rearranging our normal parking around the 200 extra buses in the parking lot we did:

COP on back blacktop: SSH, Don Qs, Imperial Walkers, Helicopters, Merkins, Flutterkicks, Scorpion Kicks.

Partner up for Dora 123: 100 Derkins, 200 Jump Squats, 300 Benchkicks. Over to tennis courts for 4 rounds of wheelbarrows & 10 Derkins. Mosey down to Jerkin Gym with a stop along the way of the tunnel of love on the bars. 4 rounds of 7 Jerkins. Finish up with a few trips up & down Heartbreak Hill to give Last Call his $s worth.

Announcements: Ruck on Thursday afternoon for D-day 80th. 2nd F Tuesday lunch on the 11th at Firehouse. Prayers offered up for Fudd’s sister and Splinter’s mom.

NMS: Solid PAX with Last Call making his Virgin post at HBR. He was impressed with the options and space at Heartbreak and we only covered half the AO. Atilla was nursing an injury but still pushed through. YHC was hoping Senor Frog might spill some merlot on the pavement at the end but he was just doing his normal hacking. Some solid mumblechatter as Last Call visited the Jerkin Gym for the 1st time, hence the BB title.

  • Pool Epip is possible

A fiesty five faithful PAX came out Dogpile to find mid 50s temps to start out June. We did:

COP: SSH, Don Qs, Imperial Walkers, Squats, Merkins, Reverse Crunch, Scorpion kicks

Head to Amphitheater: 5 Derkins each step all way up. 5 Squats each step on the way back down. Mosey to open stage and take advantage of picnic tables there: Rounds of dips, bear crawl to lamppost, and Heels2Heaven. 3 rounds.

Mosey down to Rusty Cage: 3 rounds of 5 Pullups & 10 Dips. Head down to pipe loop. Since Bodos threw off our numbers we did: Run Pipe Loop backwards, then APDs and Freddy Mercurys. Repeato. Mosey to bottom of Love Hill. Alternate way up with Lunges, Crab walk, Bernie Sanders. Stop a few times along the way for some Ab work and a few more dips on the steps. Back to flag for 2 min of Mary. YHC took us out.

Prayers for Splinter’s family (especially parents) and YHCs good friend’s dad who is in Hospice in his final days.

Announcements: See Slack for Rucks in memory of D-Day 80th anniversary on Monday and Thursday. June monthly challenge is Run a Mile a Day. Sign up.

NMS: Solid smaller veteran group at Dogpile. Lot of regulars likely at R&R for Rosie’s 9 year celebration beat down. Ample mumblechatter covering Sex-Wine, Bodos weekly injury updates, and AI is going to kill us all. Great way to start the month off. Reviews of running the Pipe Loop backwards were unanimously positive.

  • Pickleball Monday… on a Tuesday

After getting rained out Monday afternoon Oyster and Honeydo tried a repeato and found perfect weather on a Tuesday afternoon. Paired up with regulars Larry and Jose for many sets of matches. Hornydo tried to join up as a 4th with a threesome of college ladies looking for a 4th but Oyster insisted we keep playing with our group. Oyster is in his element on the courts, you should come out and experience it yourself if you play.

  • Pinto needs more benchkicks

A terrific ten PAX found ideal conditions in the gloom at HBR. We did:

COP on upper field: Imperial Walkers, Don Qs, Ukrainian Soldiers, Helicopters, Merkins, Reverse Crunch, Scorpion kicks (no SSH somehow)

Partner up for Dora 123: 100 HRMs, 200 Mtn Climbers, 300 SSH while partner runs length of field. Over to blacktop for alternating HRMs and Heels2Heaven between hoops. Method of travel alternating of bear crawl & lunges. Head down to Jerkin Gym. 4 rounds of 7 Jerkins.

Over to benches for rounds of 50 Benchkicks & 25 Squats. Attempted audible after 3 rounds of Handshake whining profusely but Pinto demanded we finish the 4th set so we did. Mosey back to flag for 2 min of Mary & Atilla took us out.

Announcements: GTE events this weekend: Friday night meetup/dinner, Saturday morning beatdown(s) then Saturday night GTE event.

NMS: Solid core group of HBR regulars made for a great group to lead this AM. YHC can’t remember the last time the upper field was dry so we had to spend some time up there. Pleasure as always to lead out there.
