  • Mysterious Moisture

The skateboarder who wiped out on the Virginia War Memorial hill could not remember the following when he came to:

Northbank to Buttermilk, with various crossing point options, was the call. Some PAX called an audible after calling 911 for the fallen skateboarder.

Temperatures were above the Sally Line for the first time this year, so no K9s. The trails were damp, and rocks were extra slippery. PAX conjectured that the moisture emerged from the ground with the warmer temps.

Most PAX went for coffee at ETs afterward.

  • The F3 Supply Chain

If they guy who walks down the middle of Pump Road had survived the week, he would have observed the following as he passed Godwin:

COP: SSHs, IWs, DQs, Flutter Kicks, Scorpion Kicks, HRMs IC

Mosey to the bus loop for Paula Abdul Reverse Jack Webb: Lunge two posts, 4 Chest Presses, walk back one post, 1 Overhead Press, Lunge two posts, 8 Chest Presses, walk back one post, 2 Overhead Presses, … , 40 Chest Presses, walk back one post, 10 Overhead Presses.

Triple Check: American Hammers, KB Swings, and Crawl Bear up a ramp.

Conveyor Belt: Each PAX occupies a space between two posts. Complete 20 Overhead Pulls or 20 Curls, and move to the next open space and complete the other exercise. Down and back along the bus loop.

10 Sit and Press and 10 Donkey Kicks. Repeato 3x.

20 American Hammers OYO. 1 minute of Boat Canoe.

The BB title was inspired by Fireman Ed, who noted that the PAX’s lack of coordination on the conveyor belt would make for an unimpressive assembly line.

YHC is grateful for the men of F3. Make it a great one!

  • Spring Training

The Handshake timer went off at 0530 in the Heartbreak Ridge parking lot for 8 PAX for a beatdown that went something like this:

COP: SSHs, IWs, DQs, Merkins, Freddie Mercurys IC.

Mosey to the benches for 11s: Box Jumps and LBCs.

Mosey to the football field for Sally with Merkins.

Mosey to the baseball field for Paula Abdul Reverse Jack Webb: Advance two bases, 4 Reverse Crunches, go back one base, 1 WWII, Advance two bases, 8 Reverse Crunches, go back one base, 2 WWIIs, …, 40 Reverse Crunches, go back one base, 10 WWIIs. Modes of transportation going back included Bear Crawl, Crawl Bear, Bernie Sanders, Karaoke, High Knees, Butt Kickers, Lunges.

Mosey back to the football field for Burpee ROF, American Hammers IC, Merkin ROF.

Mosey up the hill for the COT.

Prayers for Ukraine, including Lighthouse’s family in Kyiv. Happy hour at PBR in Daville tomorrow (Wednesday). See Slack for details.

NMS: YHC is missing baseball. PAX required a clinic on taking a lead and running the bases as their natural inclination was a slow mosey around the bases. PAX are now ready to take home from third on a passed ball, or score from second on a single. Welcome to High Heels, downrange from Knoxville. He has visited over 50 AOs.

Hoedown PAX’s legs are still recovering from Pigskin’s Q yesterday, including YHC. There are signs of spring, including a brighter sky at the end of the beatdown, but Attila is still going nuclear with gloves.

It turns out the finance guy and the analytics guy aren’t good with numbers. Honeydo is working on the interest rate for the Reverse Crunches loan we took out at second base. Pinto demonstrated perfect form during the Merkin ROF – how did he and everyone do during Sally? YHC did not make it to the end. Maybe next time.

  • Turbo on the Trails

Bootleg and YHC opened up the pump house parking lot for business. Bootleg, Helix, and Sippy Cup took Buttermilk to the flood wall, across Mayo Bridge, and back on the north bank. FNG Turbo, YHC, and Sally crossed at Belle Isle. Lola joined the flood wall crew for a bit.

Turbo claims he was sold a bill of goods by YHC and was not expecting a 6+ mile trek. He’s been upping his game by putting in miles on the road recently. Turbo and YHC initially agreed to turn back at Reedy Creek, but when they arrived at the parking lot, Turbo insisted on pushing on. Way to work!

  • HoneyDo Always Gets It

HoneyDo hasn’t posted too often to the Sunday trail run, but when he does … he gets a full 90 minute treatment of YHC’s latest existential crises. YHC is grateful for his ear and advice.

Helix complained that 39 degrees is too warm for Sunday mornings.

The PAX arrived to an otherwise-empty parking lot on a great day for a trail run. PAX went north to south then back across the bridge today. Sally made record time crossing the bridge, perhaps inspired to chase HoneyDo’s shiny new kicks.

  • Hey, Siri Pulled Up a Colonoscopy. Anybody Want to See It?

According to Siri on White Deer’s watch, there was a discussion of the ins and outs and what-have-yous of colonoscopy prep and a beatdown that went something like this:

COP IC: 20 SSHs, 20 IWs, 10 DQs, 10 Merkins, 20 Freddie Mercurys, 20 APDs

Ascending Four Corners of an Irregular Trapezoid:

    10 Curls

10 Curls, 20 Lawnmower Pulls each arm. Yeah, each arm.

10 Curls, 20 Lawnmower Pulls, 30 Tricep Extension

10 Curls, 20 Lawnmower Pulls, 30 Tricep Extension, 40 Overhead Pulls

Mosey to the picnic tables for a Lindsay with Step Ups and Sit and Press:

30 Step Ups each leg with weight. Yeah, each leg. 10 Sit and Press.

25 Step Ups, 15 Sit and Press

20 Step Ups, 20 Sit and Press

15 Step Ups, 25 Sit and Press

Take a lap, then, 10 Step Ups, 30 Sit and Press

Mosey to the bus loop for Paula Abdul Reverse Jack Webb:

Lunge two posts, 4 Chest Presses, walk back one post, 1 Overhead Press

Lunge two posts, 8 Chest Presses, walk back one post, 2 Overhead Presses

Lunge two posts, 12 Chest Presses, walk back one post, 3 Overhead Presses

Lunge two posts, 16 Chest Presses, walk back one post, 4 Overhead Presses

Lunge two posts, 20 Chest Presses, 5 Overhead Presses.

Back to the flag for COT.

The PAX noted that colonoscopies are recommended for those 45 to 75. Copying Pigskin’s “adequate prep” form to your medical files doesn’t count.

  • For the Record

Four PAX launched at 7 for Buttermilk to Northbank. Others launched earlier for the loop plus Forest Hill.

The PAX ran long enough for ET’s to open, and proceeded to take advantage.

  • What’s a Hammer Dance?

Hardywood’s farm equipment remains parked in the PAX parking area, but he did not emerge. Instead seven gloom warriors started the day with:

    The Thang:
COP: SSHs, Hammer Dance, IWs, DQs, Flutter Kicks, Freddie Mercurys, Carolina Dry Docks
Ascending Derkins: 1, 2, …, 10 derkins on various benches with some moseying in between.
On the basketball court, three rounds of Donkey Kicks, Bear Crawl, and SSHs, Invincible Jump Rope for the six. 15, 20, and 25 Donkey Kicks.
Mosey to the Jerkin Gym for three sets of 8 Partner Jerkins.
Mosey to the football field for a traveling Lindsay with Broad Jumps and WWIIs.
Back to the VSF for Six Minutes of Mary.

    COT

NMS: Hammer Dance was not on the Weinke, but when Gomer showed up in parachute pants and windbreaker, and Fireman Ed asked what the Hammer Dance is, it was inevitable. YHC swears there were more benches at Heartbreak during the Obama administration, which HoneyDo noted was the time of YHC’s last Q. Lighthouse commented that Bear Crawls feel like a break after a Crawl Bear uphill. YHC likens it to American Hammers with and without a kettlebell. YHC and Handshake need to work on our Partner Jerkin dismount if we are going to be ready for Paris 2024. At Punisher last night, there was a debate over whether Pigskin ever takes a day off – YHC remains in the “no” camp.

  • Bad Weather = Mandatory Attendance

Pigskin and Offshore posted to ensure that no PAX would run alone. The rain mostly held off for an out and back on the access road. The PAX then gathered at ET’s for an early coffee. YHC’s 2.0 thanks Pigskin for saving him from a Sunday morning run around the neighborhood.

  • Trail Run on BRR Weekend?

Heck yeah! The route was counterclockwise, with a trip around the west end of Belle Isle. Pigskin turned back near the end of the spur – kind of an interesting spot to do so. PAX are looking forward to the BRR backblast!
