  • To the top of the Towers

The idea for this one to honor those lost at the original WTC to do just a small thing can go a long way. The drones with the towers was cool, it was too late to sign up today at RIR they do a 9/11 stairs up and down or you can do a 5k around the track. Dogpile was the best spot with the stairs Handshake who thought for a moment I was going to bale (no just ran a few minutes late) joined and we took off. Did we get the goal(yes adding the second main workout we did). The original idea with rucks but glad we didn’t next year if I do the event(yes ruck it)

So a couple of facts: actual height of the towers (1,368 feet 110 stories). The new WTC tower to the roof is that exact height you add the extension piece get the total 1776 feet height. Part 2 yes I doubled dipped big time today to follow….

  • Muddy Dash 2026….F3 invasion

It was mentioned a few times that a few of us would be taking a trip to Virginia Motorsports Park for Muddy Dash. It rained yes was it muddy gee look at the first part of the name. Overall 7 of us including Handshake’s significant other came out.

it was a little shorter than anticipated at 2.4 miles but overall I give it a B for a grade. There are things they can improve on and I hope I get the chance to voice it. Next one, we need a bigger F3 presence I will say it is much better to go earlier(we went the 3rd wave about 810 am there was a 30-40 deep line when we left to get in so others can run it. Oh we got to meet Spinner welcome to RVA.

  • How many more Mudslide?

This is probably the most in a month I have led in ages. With my new work schedule, I can only do them later in the week unless a holiday falls where I get an extra day off. With tomorrow’s Muddy Dash plus next week it will be a good month. That said, 10 came out this morning for the final July beatdown from yours truly. The gear came out today, hard work plus body imprints where you can draw our outline Here we go….

A short run to the strip sign and back with a very short warm up(SSHs, Dead Man Hangs, Imperial Walkers Anna a couple of wives). Then to the main event… The idea was that a potential 15 but with 10, tweak things

–Battleropes, Jerkins, run.up to first house on left and back

–Mike Tyson w/ pull thrus, Side Wall Bal, tosses, run

–Sledgehammer, 4 count mountain climbers w/ plank jack, run

    –Tire slams, Banded squats, ru

–KB swings, Over the shoulder sandbag, run

Everyone first time thru did each spot, next rounds find something you like run to the stop sign. There was a thing where if you did not run, 100 jump ropes. The idea be quick run is the recovery back again. With about 6-8 minutes left, broga to close things. Numbers, names announcements and prayer led by YHC to close the morning.

Those at Muddy Dash tomorrow see you there, Enjoy the weekend

  • Carpe Diem everyone

What’s harder…. Getting gear ready, dropping it setting up the area what I have in mind, or after everything’s done putting it back in the car bringing it home and unpacking. Today for a bit, I thought I was going to be solo but Pierogi and Purple Rain showed up so we had 3.

Over to the smaller basketball court for things I had set up for a potential group of 10. Jump ropes, bands, a spot for Superman’s, Battle ropes, curls with the bands, ball slams, kettlebell, bands for jump forward and run back, sand bag for over the shoulders. First round went pretty good, after that Pierogi said each spot add 20 more (we did). Example: 100 jump ropes became 120, 30 ball slams became 50 etc. Then we had a little fun with the slam ball. A few revolutions with. tossing it, a burpee then back up in time for the next one. Next round we went all out. Throw it fast and hard off you drop it 5 Merkins(Purple Rain the first time next round no one did). Final stretch home….150 jump ropes, 100 double count battle ropes 30 swings and 30 curls(I can grip it down at the bell part squeezing it finish with 10 over the sand bag burpees. We became 3 guys trained really hard finished then walked back to the flag for a quick close out and prayer to end it all.

I just grabbed Friday at Satan’s(I have skipped the last 2 weeks wanting to get a little extra rest work still getting used to days with work it is going to take a good while to get my body fully back to normal so if there’s are times where you don’t see me, don’t worry. I am thankful I found something that is not nights i if I had continued, health wise it would not have been good. I have a couple of F3 thoughts if anyone wants to hear one thing I would like to go and another a potential change. See you next time

  • OCR style at Dogpile

Yesterday I saw both RNR and Dogpile open which one did I want? I want to have RNR when the tour hits so I went with Dogpile. I am wanting to lead Qs more the question ask yourself: what’s the difference between laying a Q versus being a part of it? The only one to me: I lead and choose what we do and how to attack things. I get to enjoy it just as much as others do .

8 came out (half of that was from the SOJ side). At 6, we took off and near the tower there were things not normally seen. What did I have in store today. The usual warm up SSHs, Jazzercise(if Nancy is there, add them) Imperial Walkers, DMHs, Merkins, LBCs, a little stretching to get things going. Let the fun begin….. Battle Ropes, bands, slam ball, stairs, jump ropes, a 45 Pound weight for farmers carries, a tire (yes a tire) for tire burpees and slams. Battle ropes for waves, bands for Merkins, squats, deadlifts, jump rope a speed one and a second for strength and power. Use the stairs for run ups then a set of decline Merkins first time around, second time carry the slam ball up and down.

Onto the field next, for backward tire tosses and side throws. As a group, the first round each person tossed it till the end, then back down. Second round, one toss left and right side down and back. Getting closer to the end… Pit the great in an easy spot for me to grab, back to the flag for a little broga, close things out numbers, names announcements and prayer led by YHC to call it a morning

Thoughts…. Enjoy Dogpile the potential of what you can train there and do is insane. Next time I have a few things look for my name, come on down. Nancy recently went to VA Beach for a workout that’s where I saw F3, the first time they trained on the beach at the 36th Avenue park. My goal before summer ends, road trip Saturday either to Mt Trashmore for a workout where the possibilities are endless or the beach to where I found F3. If anyone wants to come, let me know no date yet. 2 weeks Muddy Dash Virginia Motorsports Park 5k mud and obstacles should be fun all for now. Reach out if need anything see you next time

  • 55 and still….

I better get this in before I start cooking and get into the Friday streaming night (right now we have Devil May Cry 2, Mating Season and Pop Culture Jeopardy). Tomorrow it’s Daredevil Season 2 and One Piece). Since we have HBO Max, we have never seen the Game of Thrones arc plus Spider Noir on Prime plus a bunch of other stuff on Netflix and others we will in time watch. So today…9 came out to celebrate my 55th. Did I do the thing of everything being 55 reps(not even close).

it was a short warm up cause of the workout was massive. SSHs, Dead Man Hangs Arm circles, things to help get the body loosen up. Then it was showtime….100 reps to start drop each round by 10 you had a variety of choices at 10, a little run to the strip sign then back. Next time you start at 10 yet you switched that up(choices were Mike Tyson’s, Merkins or I like to call them Aussie Rows, burpees or 1 Khaotic Merkin). We were able to complete 2 full rounds not easy then a little broga to stretch things out. Close things out with numbers, names, announcements prayer led by YHC .

Tomorrow…. Convergence at Gridiron DTH wants to do 250 Merkins before the main event. Sure but I think there’s a way you can accomplish that plus make it unique. How many colonies/states did we have to start(13)? Each round works be 19 Merkins and add 1 burpees(247 Merkins then final 3 make them unique) I will post the group and workout on a different post. See you tomorrow!!!

  • Dogpile… There was 8 but no cake

A nice morning temps feeling good unlike last week when the sun rose higher, the humidity went into overdrive. 8 came out to see what I had in store after the end of another week of the summer RVA tour at Satan’s Hill

The customary mosey to the tower for the warm up(SSH, Imperial Walkers, Cherry Pickers, Merkins, Alabama Prom Dates, with some stretching to add). After that the original plan was for quick work at the tower, but that needed a change so down the amphitheater we went for a triple quad check. People’s chair, flutters, tricep dips with the run to the top and back down. We finished, then made our way over to a grassy area first was torch a tree (3 rounds 5, 7 and 9 with a variety of exercises thrown in. I always enjoy a Dora today was 100 Merkins, 200 LBCS and 300 jump ropes.

Then to the nearby big circle trail. That trail is almost a mile so why not use it. It was 10/side mountain climbers, 15 jump squats alternating at each post as we made the turn, change it to 10 SSH and 10’walking lunges. The goal was to get to the rings for some pull ups and other but we were running low on time. A little run, back to the flag stretched a little then called it. Names, announcements, requests and prayer led by YHC to end it

2.53 miles the goal was 3 if we had a little more time where we could have finished the trail, then run back to the flag from there yes 3 miles would have been made. So I have a big day coming up(7/2) I will turn 55. It does feel like forever I have been 54 what happens with a middle of the year birthday and it is the mid point of the year. My belief now once you got 50, the big birthdays are at the 5 and 0. So after this, the next big one is 60(holy bleep). I will be leaving a Q 7/3 to celebrate then hopefully we do groups again at the convergence I want to lead one there. Convergence is at Gridiron 7/4, come out I am not sure due to the day that we hit the numbers from Memorial Day, bit at least come close.

PS: thank you Blank Space for breakfast this morning it was good, I will see everyone next time

  • 5k at the Airport

I was trying to figure out a way that I could make Dogpile, leave then head to Chesterfield County Airport for the 5k run today. I realized it was not going to happen so fartsacked a little longer this morning, headed over to get ready. I saw Pierogi, then Magnum who I haven’t seen in ages appeared. Overall about 200 runners turned out, we were on the runway then in between the small hangars, back towards the front part finished where we started. Pierogi and Magnum were gone, I wanted to be under 30 minutes and was successful in that goal. A good one will do again or one like that

  • Return of BLIMP

Original plan this morning was for Mudslide Gauntlet 2.0(a much more intense and insane version of the gauntlet Crabgrass sets up). I wasn’t sure with this week being Spring Break, how many would show(it turned out a good hard 9(no pun intended)came out with this being my second led Q in the past 6 days(i need to lead more will do as the warmer months roll in). Lets break things down…….

A good WARMARAMMA(SSHs, Dead Man Hangs with elephant twist, Ukrainian Soldiers, Apple Pickers, LBCs and a promise of a little broga afterwards started off. I wanted to get away from the hill(not knowing that where we went between people going to work plus Amazon flex drivers flying to make the early morning deliveries would be in mass. BLIMPS(one of the first times I did it was with Florence. It’s one that normally you stack yet today there’s was no way(I would need 60 minutes for the stack plus broga). Instead, BLIMPS with a build a beast kicker: 5 burpees per spot, 10 lunges per side, 16 Imperial Walkers, 20 Merkins, 25 Plank Jacks, 30 squats). A couple of mini breaks added in due to the humidity(20 counts), then back to the flag for 3 minutes of broga(promise next time 7-10) numbers, announcements and prayer led by YHC to close things out.

Yesterday I was over at Forest Hill Park(great place to train all around for running or overall fitness). I am trying to learn plus improve and get better all around. I have added some meditation to my routine(helps with calming the mind). Can I get a little faster(sure once i thought no way) i am getting better at pacing of training, start off easy then little by little build up the intensity. The next time at Satan’s….we will do the gauntlet(it will be “fun”). I will be at dogpile in the morning, see you there

  • Conan….what is best in life

With Spring Break starting…..numbers probably for the next week will be lower. Those are out travelling, trying to get away enjoy a break from RVA and the rat race that it is. 7 came out this morning to see what I had planned.

A mosey to the tower(where we grabbed Hitch) then started off a nice warmup(SSHs, Imperial Walkers, Copperhead squats, Flutters, Alabama prom dates plus adding a little Wilson’s and Fudd’s wife to get the body ready. First part….triple check consisting of shoulder taps, Lt Dans and run up the right side, behind and back down. Get the body moving and working early

A classic, something I enjoy putting into my workouts is a Dora. A classic really works plus you add something like a run uphill it adds more to it. The classic is 100 Merkins, 200 squats, 300 LBCs(plus any additional reps or runs to help others finish). After that it was a short mosey to the nearby circle. We did a 4 corners next(now 4 corners can be 4 points) regular styler today 15 Carolina Dry Docks, 30 DC toe taps, 60 mountain climbers, 90 SSHs(that lactic acid gets going with the SSHs(do an old school 100 Florence SSHs you will see how it feels).

Time wise, we were in good shape. I haven’t done eye of the storm in a good while. Luckily it didn’t rain as much so to the field for a quick(the middle was 2 burpees) 10 Hand release merkins, 20 Bulgarian split squats, 30 American Hammers, 40 jump squats. The end is near….to the amphitheater for a descending ladder of squats and tricep dips(even numbers dips, odd squats). After that a few minutes left to the flag for broga. Then time was up, numbers, names announcements and prayer led by YHC to close it out

It felt good to lead. I try to just enjoy things figure my body and mind out each time. Even as I get older(with a big year change coming up this summer), I am still learning things on training seeing what my body wants plus making my mental game stronger. Final thought…prayers to Tin Man read on Slack what happened(that was scary give you that whoa moment). He will rest and hope to see him back when he gets the go-ahead. See you next time
