  • Yeah, They Honked at Us

6 Americans hammered forth to this evening’s version of The Punisher. Temps were a constant 70 and sunny. According to the drivers on Hermitage, the following might have happened:

    COP:

Run the bus loop, and circle up for a Beatdown.

    SSHs x24
    Dead Man Hang
    IWs x10
Hillbillies x10 (tip of the hat to the teacher leaving for the evening)
    WWIIs x10
    6 inches
    American Hammers x20
    Snow Angels x10
    Scorpion Kicks x5
    HRMs x10

Mosey to the front of the school for a Super 10s (like Super 21s, but not to 21)

    WWIIs
    Merkins

Stop after round 4 for Monkey Humpers and after 7 for something else and after 9 for a Ring of Fire, Super 10 Style
Last round: one man performs 10 of an exercise and calls a separate ab exercise for the PAX. Same deal with the merkins. The PAX basically did 10 of every known ab exercise.

Mosey to the Picnic Area for a Triple Check:

    Run to the building
    American Hammers and Step Ups.

Mosey Even Closer to the Picnic Area for modified 11s

Incline Merkins and American Hammers. Modification: PAX each pick 2 times during the Elevens to substitute 11 abyss merkins for one round of Inclines and Hammers.

Mosey back to the Side of the Building for…another triple check

    Balls to the Wall
    People’s Chair
Run to the lamppost by the street and back

Finish with a round of wall sit, 20 donkey kicks, and 10 of an ab exercise.

Mosey to the Street light for a round of 20 monkey humpers. The PAX drew some audience participation from the drivers on Hermitage.

    BTTVSF for some stretching.

Numbers, Names, EF Hutton took us out.

    Announcements:

February 7 Punisher will meet at Bingo Beer. 6 for the workout, 6:15 for the not workout.

Sign up to build a ramp! See Corned Beef for details.

  • Don’t You Park Over There?

One PAX peeled off the outer layers of The Fart Sack and scrambled forth into an unseasonably cool morning. Temps were 70 and sunny in the heart, 61 on the skin, and south Florida was there for the taking. According to the early riser in the green Camaro, here’s more or less what happened:

1/2 mile run to the AO.

COP (in cadence, unless otherwise noted):

SSHs, DQs, IWs, Dead Man Hang (sans cadence ’cause still cadence is silly), light stretching, WWIIs, FKs, HRMs…mosey 1/4 mile.

Intermittent running / exercises for 1/2 mile. HRMs, Rosalitas, decline merkins, dips.

4 Corners (but, stick with YHC on this – do it clockwise. Eh? Harder than the normal way):

    Reverse crunches
    Squats
    Heels-to-Heaven
    Dips

2 rounds, then for rounds 3 and 4, add a run up the parking garage ramp and 10 HRMs at the top.

    50 SSHs.

    2 mile run.

    BTTVSF. 3 minutes of stretching.

Number, Name, YHC took himself out.

    NMS:

Remember when you went to an office building each day? There’s a dude who shows up at 5:45 each day at DHL (building whose garage YHC uses). He parked over there on the outer edge “action style” every day for years. With no one else using the building these days, now he parks “in the middle area.” He’s learned a new habit. Says it keeps his car cleaner. He’s used the opportunity presented to improve things for himself. YHC likes it.

Prayers for Omar and his mother-in-law who had brain surgery in November and is just not the same. Good to catch up with YHC’s friend, even if he can’t join the workouts due to work.

Total mileage today was just under 4.2. Plus the beatdown, not a bad way to start the day, albeit in more than 45 minutes.

    UpChuck spits the bit.

  • Not 25

One pax scraped himself out of the Fartsack and launched for the first 2022 Lake Florida workout. Temps were 70 and sunny (definitely not 25). According to the construction crew on Peters, this might be what happened:

Run today. Hotel loop across the lake, cross Peters to the office lot, round the spot where HoneyDo rolled his ankle back in the day, north on 30-something street to Broward Blvd, and reverso BTTVSF. Just shy of 4.5.

    5 minutes of Chum-inspired stretching.

Number, name, and YHC mumbled himself out.

NMS: nice to be back. Two new apartment complexes have sprung up over the past year. YHC is thinking about starting a group. FWIW, there is a pay-to-workout company now set up with vans in the parking lot of the local semi-abandoned mall. They start about 5:45 or 6, YHC guesses. Free has to be cheaper than what they offer.

  • Breaking Bread – We are Into Q2, 2022!!

Breaking Bread – We are Into Q2, 2022!!

    Gentlemen,

I have to extend an apology. During the COT on Friday and again today, I mentioned the opportunity to sign up for Breaking Bread this month and during the rest of the first quarter. Unfortunately, that is not correct.

Because of the incredible leadership you all are showing, Breaking Bread is FULL until MAY!! You all have done an exceptional job.

I appreciate the continued solid efforts that you and your families make on behalf of these people. I thank you, Barbara (their director) thanks you, and the residents thank you. And, we thank your families.

    UpChuck

  • UpChuck Is an Inclusive Q

4, probably 5, but definitely not 6, launched into the rain and gloom (real gloom, not F3 Gloom) for the latest edition of Sunday Funday. Conditions were sunny and 70, per usual. According to the walkers who groaned at us going through Maymont, here’s more or less what happened:

    6:30 launch: Swiper (13ish?) and Shakedown (11.4)

7:00 launch: Doublemint and YHC (6.6). Riverside, Belle Isle, Oregon Hill, Idylwood, back to the VSF.

    7:00 (?) from points afar: Saab (10).

Names, numbers, YHC took us out.

NMS: Solid today, Doublemint. Thank you.

    Good chatter at ET’s.

  • 945

Four studs, representing 945 (now 949) posts this year, assembled for the penultimate workout of 2021. Temperatures were 70 and sunny. According to the Subaru driving ladies using the pavilion, the following likely happened:

5:31 COP. Helicopters, Dead Man Hang, Arm Circles, Russian Soldiers Imperial Walkers, Merkins

5:37 Lindsey. 2 trees up, and one tree back. Merkins and WWIIs.

5:48 Handshake Q. Mosey to corner of Grove and Westmoreland. Handshake reminded the PAX that the “block” has “corners” (and four of them). The PAX used those corners to do: 10 burpees, 20 merkins, 30 WWIIs, 40 Carolina Dry Docks.

5:52 Mosey to the track, find the wall of plastic edging, and do 30 dips

5:58 Hitchhiker Q. Mosey to the tennis courts for 4 corners. 10 merkins, run a full lap plus run to 2nd corner, 20 Copperhead Squats, run a full lap plus run to 3rd corner, 30 LBCs, run lap plus to 4th corner, 40 side-straddle hops.

6:03 UpChuck Q. Mosey to where we are. Catch Me if You Can. Three PAX crawl bear along fence surrounding tennis courts. 4th PAX does 5 reverse crunches, then chases. Each PAX picks one man to tag. Don’t pick anyone who has been tagged previously.

    6:04 – 6:07 Gripe about this exercise. It’s hard.

6:08 Finish griping. Mosey to blacktop. Realize there are 6 minutes left.

    6:09 Mosey BTTVSF for Mary.

6:10 – 6:13 Mary. American Hammers and Rosalitas (x40 each).

    6:12:05 TYA appeared.

6:12:08 TYA disappeared. Definition of LIFO (Last In, First Out). It’s You vs. You, so at his age, YHC counts this as a post. Push yourself…yada, yada, yada.

6:13 Yoga for the remainder. Thanks Chum for introducing YHC to the magic of stretching at the end of a Beat Down.

    6:15 Time.

Numbers, names, YHC took us out.

  • TYA Will Write It Up

Seven stallions saddled up for the latest edition of Sunday Funday. Temps were 70 and sunny. According to the person who winterizes the bubblers for the James River Park System, the following may have happened:

Shakedown and TYA ran two loops.

UpChuck and everyone else headed south bank, then Buttermilk, then Forest Hill loop. Pigskin got knocked down, but got up again, then joined Hitchhiker to complete 4. The rest completed 7.

Numbers, names, TYA took us out.

  • UpChuck Can’t Count

  • Which Hand Would You Rather Lose?

Three rallied to celebrate the last Punisher of the year. With temperatures steady at 70 and sunny, the PAX eagerly awaited one more guy to make it an even 4. According to Johnsonville, who offered as recently as mid-morning to Q, here’s what happened:

    Warm up:
    SSHs
    IWs
    Hillbillies
Swirly’s Dead Man Hang (no cadence, ’cause why would ya?) (YHC also thanks to Hutton for humming cadence)
Stretch to the Sky (YHC feels like Bodo’s should get some credit for this, but could also just ignore the need to name a simple stretch)
    LBC’s
    HRM’s
    Hello Dolly’s
    Rosalita’s

    Mosey to the basketball court

    Partner Suicides

Numbers, names, YHC made an announcement to pray for his mother in law which became a prayer. If you know YHC, this is just how it goes.

    NMS:

YHC thanks all of you for your prayers for my mother-in-law and family over the past 2.5 years. We prayed for her this evening at Punisher, and she went home to God shortly after we wrapped up. Great lady. Exceptional mother and grandmother.

YHC thanks Corned Beef for his help with finding home care.

    UpChuck spits the bit.

  • I’m Outrunning a Skateboarder

One PAX took to the Gloom, Rain, and Wind for today’s edition of the south Florida shuffle. Temps were 70 and sunny. According to Jim Cantore, the following might have happened:

Conditions: winds 30-45 MPH, heavy rain, 75 degrees.

Route: North ~2.5 miles on the boardwalk, then the nature walk, back by the same route. Wise Men not present.

NMS: This was YHC’s second consecutive week to be fortunate in his business travel location – south Florida on the water. Nice. That said, conditions were difficult. Very high winds and heavy rain at times.

This was YHC’s first decent length rehab run (no offense to YHC’s short Spider Run on Tuesday). So far, so good. YHC even outran a man (possibly a drunk man) on a skateboard. Before the PAX assume YHC won a contest that others did not know they were involved in, YHC believes this guy WAS trying to keep up.

Skateboard + alcohol + nature reserve walk + Gloom + rain + wind = YHC smoked him. Rematch scheduled for January.
