  • In Perpetuity for a Bit

A fine variety of 8 enjoyed the pristine temperatures that awaited the PAX for a well planned beatdown that was seconds in the making. Following Ronnie fishtailing his way into the parking lot, we went off for a variety of adventures and games. Here is how things went down.

Mosey to the point of the triangle for introductions and disclaimers. Avoid any straggling ice along the route. Exercises, all in conversation, included Helicopters, DQ’s, Jazzercise, Ukrainian Soldiers, Arm Circles among others.

Mosey down S. Ridge with stops along the way Lindsay style. Exercises included Mountain Climbers and Squats. Brocode style ending up at the base of Overlook.

Mosey up a portion of Overlook for a noncounting Dora. Timer runs up the street and back. 1 round of merkins, 2 rounds of WWII’s, 3 rounds of LBCs. Mosey back down to Ridge.

Catch me if you can on the way back up Ridge. Traveler lunges while partner performs 10 shoulder taps or jump squats then off to catch the traveler. Switch. Traveler switches to reverse lunge a portion up the hill. Mosey back to the tip of the triangle.

Another round of exercises with drydocks and running.

Enter into the parking lot for a rhombus shaped 4 corners. 10 merkins, 20 somethings, 30 monkey humpers, 40 SSH’s.

Numbers, Names, Announcements and Prayers. Frozen Triangle run rescheduled for sometime coming up. See Slack. YHC took us out with phenomenal public speaking abilities.

NMS: Great temps greeted the PAX although some dressed for cooler temps. A mixture of cooler breeze and warmer drafts awaited the PAX along Ridge. Good conversation along the way with some critiquing of YHC exercise selection and preparation. Great group as always a good time awaits in the early gloom. Well done fellas, thanks for the opportunity to lead.

  • Shaking of the Dust

A trio of highly trained and fairly good looking lads answered the early call to bring a bit of Broga back with the summer weather. Conditions were soggy so under the protection of the church canopy was the preferred location for this early morning session. Back, hips, quads and calves were the focus this morning. A bit rusty in the communication and directions but mumble chatter was always enjoyable, almost as much as shavasana. Well done fellas.

  • Ice on the track

YHC was solo at Midlo Middle this morning once the runners headed out.

Mosey down to the track for a COP

Heard the crunch crunch in the Gloom of someone walking on the track and figured there must still be some snow on it.

Decided to Keep It Stupid Simple and walk the track while doing exercises a the halfs and ends. Started with 10 Ball dippers but once YHC got to the far side of the track it wash a sheet of ice so the decision was made to turn around in lane 2 and do 20 Merkins at each stop on the way back. Repeto for each lane. Lane 3 – 30 LBC’s, lane 4 – 40 American Hammers, lane 5 – 50 Squats and lane 6 – 60 SSH’s

Add in one more trip to the far end and Lung walk back to the stairs

BTTF Numbers / Names Wedding Singer took us out

NMS: Spent a little time thinking of new workout I’m going to call the Carabine Titty Twister but didn’t want to launch it on a solo beatdown so YHC will continue to refine it and save it for a day with >3 PAX.

  • E Pluribus Unum

As Richmond thawed from its recent Ice Age, ten HIMs emerged from the thaw to do something hard. YHC aimed for Cedar Grove Cemetery, though time kept us shy at 3.6 miles at a fairly brisk pace.

Post-ruck at Coffeerama, we leaned into an article entitled “Love your Enemies; How to Get Past America’s Divided Culture of Contempt”. The theme carried into our chatter: how we show unity in the face of disagreement, one step at a time.

    Announcements:

    • Frozen Triangle rescheduled: February 21st.
    • Latinos en Virginia Food Distribution: March 7th, 10–1 (Setup at 9 am)

  • WipeOut

Nine of F3RVA’s best looking non-millennials gathered for miles.  Here’s where the Pax went:

    • Take UR Drive to the Batcave and out to River Rd
    • Cross shopping center onto Westham Station
    • Continue on S Ridge to River Rd
    • Reverso and left on Old Bridge then bear right on Highland (5s and 6s)
    • Add the rest of Old Bridge plus Panorama (6s)
    • Continue on Westham Station, back through the Batcave to the VSF

    Numberama, Nameorama, COT

    MOLESKIN

YHC believes Curling is awesome, Bodos disagrees.  Bodos is wrong.  U.S. Men’s Bobsledding needs more practice.  Apologizes for the lateness of the backblast.  A little forgetful since I’m not a millennial.

  • Misery Loves Company

A down-on-his-luck PAX member needed a pick me up, so 5 of SOS’s finest gathered for a ruck. Some started at 5, others 530, got in 4-5 miles depending…

We discussed the dismantling of the Patriots offensive line; the chances of the same thing happening to the Broncos; a temped pace; Jeremiah Love in Kansas City Red and how great that will look; and famous movies with actors who were 46 at the time

Last cold morning hopefully for awhile, get out there fellas and get some work in!

  • Breaking the Ice

11 Ice-melters surveyed the permafrost in search of snow to melt. The Richmond ICE AGE may be passing and YHC took it upon himself and the Pax to speed it’s departure. Disclaimers were given and some took it too seriously, uh-hem “Last Call.” According to Squiggy here’s what went down:

Wamarama: mozey to field one for some SSH, Merkins, WWIIs, ISWs, DQs in random numbers

C.O.P. 1 Mozey to the pavillion to start the first sundance. EyE of the Merkaine… at pavillion 10 merkins, corners for 25 WWIIs, 25 Burpees, 25 ISWs, 25 Squats. Pax then tried to raise the temps over 32 with some raise the roofs.

I.P. Run Ice skater style low to the ground and lunging while the last man did 5 burpees and ran to the front.

    C.O.P. 2 4 corners 25 Aussie snow angels, 25 plank jacks, 25 Freddie Mercuries. 25 mountain Climbers.

C.O.P. 3 11s with an animal walk between on the basketball court.

Pleasure to lead and we’ll see next Tuesday if we sped the ice Melt. Never in the history of Richmond ever has the snow lasted on the ground this long from 1/25 nearly 2.5 weeks. Many Pax throughout Richmond kept up the routine despite enduring single digit wind chills, and ice covered AOs. Memorable Qs were delivered from the likes of Doozy, Machine Head, DTH, L Woods, Salt Lick and others. Let’s relish the end of the Ice Age like the Type 2 fun it was, “uncomfortable in the moment, rewarding afterwards”.

Prayers to the reported 12,000 who visited the ERs of VA during this event. Lifting up YHCs mother who received a head wound from falling ice. Here’s also to the lessons in life that save us from worse mistakes later re: Hugo on Ice… Keep up the good work. Machismo – out.
