  • Winter Has Come

6 Davillians brave the winter like temp north of the wall to get some mid week miles

    5am Ruckers did their thing

4 Runners heading out on a traditional route around Rutland, Knollwood, and Cool Spring Forest Trail. 2 Runners go in the full run for 4.5+ miles while YHC and Opus turning around before Knollwood for 2.25 run follow by a walk/run around the Bojangles loop for another mile and quarter.

Felt like winter with temps around 30 this AM

    SPIT ON THAT!!

  • Running & Mumblechatter

5 elite runners took to the pavement with an out&back route on Coalfield. With a easy and route, all energy went to planning the next great CSAUP.

Option 1: Teams of 3 gather for a run & bike relay from Williamsburg to Richmond on the Capital Trail (50 miles)

Option 2: Teams of 5 gather for a run & bike relay up Skyline Drive (120 miles)

Option 3: Something similar but more stupid, like 500 miles stupid.

We agreed to do them all, in order. So… who else is up for the challenge?

  • Stolen Kettlebell Safari

YHC + 2 enjoyed some off the books beef with a “kettle bell Safari”. Venturing across the Sahara of Bermuda to hunt down the kettles hiding in the brush around Goyne Park. Krikey! CAUTION TO ALL: Unfortunately YHC placed his 50# KB out of eyesight and it was gone upon completion of the AO… Someone in Chester who is now 1 kettlebell richer probably saw the following…

Minus getting one of my FAVORITE KB’s jacked – this was an awesome morning. Posh and Mudslide pushed hard as always through one of the colder mornings we’ve had. Nothing like that first AO with the cold air hitting your lungs. Stay warm, stay healthy, and come join us soon for another Big Game Hunt on the plains of Goyne Park!

    -State Farm

  • Come on bro. Ain’t that cold!

In the heart of a bitter winter, four intrepid friends, Heist, Oyster, Swoop, and Bullseye, embarked on a daring adventure. They were known in their close-knit community for their love of fitness and their unwavering commitment to their health.

The frost-covered wilderness became their playground as they set out each morning to push their limits. Heist, the strategist of the group, always had a plan. Oyster, the ever-optimistic, provided the motivation. Swoop, with his agility, led the way, and Bullseye, a precision seeker, measured their progress.

They braved the icy winds and frosty trails, facing challenging terrains that tested their mettle. Their breath formed clouds in the frigid air, but their spirits burned hot with determination.

One day, as they ventured deeper into the wilderness, they stumbled upon an abandoned cabin. It became their base camp, offering shelter and a sense of camaraderie, as they spent nights by the warm crackling fire, sharing stories of their daring expeditions.

Their workouts intensified with every passing day. Heist’s plans grew more ambitious, Oyster’s optimism shone brighter, Swoop’s agility soared to new heights, and Bullseye’s precision was unmatched. Together, they pushed their limits, stronger than they’d ever been.

As winter turned to spring, they realized that their journey wasn’t just about physical strength. It was about the unbreakable bonds of friendship, the resilience of the human spirit, and the unwavering pursuit of their dreams.

In the end, their story became a legend in their community, inspiring others to brave the cold and wilderness, not just for fitness but for the indomitable spirit that burned within them.

  • When you can’t choose just one…

9 men gathered for Hoedown this week, 7 for the Bootcamp and 2 on Injury Reserve.

YHC was on the phone Senor Frog yesterday and saw there was no Q at Mary so YHC threw Bodos a bone and signed up to Q. YHC couldn’t decide what exactly to do so YHC decided to have Sampler Platter of some of the best exercises seen over the years of Mary (except Tunnel of Love (insert eye roll).

COP in the (2) Gaga Pits (just because we could)

Exercise 1 – Tennis Courts, ascending and descending Suicides. Court 1 and 1 Burpee to Court 2 and 2 Burpees ascending to Court 4 and 4 Burpees and then 3 then 2 then 1.

Exercise 2 – Tennis Court Bear Crawl. Court 1 Bear Crawl, Court 2 Forward Crab Walk, Court 3 Crawl Bear, Court 4 Reverse Crawl Bear

Mosey to the Field for some Tree Work. Tree 1 – 1 Merkin, Tree 2 – 2 Merkins all the way up to 11.

Mosey back to the flag to finish 13 seconds early.

Announcements – Saab found $10 on the IR walk.

Prayer Requests – No major requests, just a small prayer for patience and peace of dealing with a certain F3 brother from the north, the one who spreads fake Thanksgiving history.

NMS – this was the first sub freezing morning we’ve seen for the start of the 2023/2024 winter season but numbers were strong at Mary, we’ve been bred for this weather.

  • Heavy Metal Kettle II

Seven cold warriors showed up for the annual rock concert. In what Fireman Ed called “the most awkward beginning to a workout”, I began with a poor reenactment of the beginning of the “I Wanna Rock” video. Was hoping to see White Deer for the “Slap your fat face” line but used Offshore instead. Thankfully, he did not attack me while I yelled in his face: “What do you want to do with your life?”

    The setlist:

I Wanna Rock (Twisted Sister): warmups SSH, Arm circles, maybe something else

Cum on Feel the Noise (Quiet Riot): High Pulls in verse, Swings when we rocked our boys

Run to the Hills (Iron Maiden): Partner up. One runs to the hill and back, the other does overhead presses

Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap (AC/DC): Curls during the verses, Squat Thrusters to ” Done Dirt Cheap”

Here I Go Again (Whitesnake): Sit and press during Chorus, Flutters with Bell during verses

Shout at the Devil (Motley Crue): Squats during verse, Overhead Triceps on each “Shout”.

Balls to the Wall (Accept): People’s chair with bell during verse, and you know what during Chorus

Crazy Train (Ozzy): Single file lunges with bell, then Bear Crawl, then Crab Walk

It’s So Easy (GnR): Lawn mower pulls in verse, High Pull Burpees (or burpee of your choice) when Its so Easy

Round and Round (Rat): Ring of fire with Rifle Carry while each Pax chooses a ten count kettle exercise. Offshore heard it called a “Cusack” downrange.

Time flew by for me, not sure about for anyone else. Thanks for letting me lead.

  • New month….We don’t stop

As the runners took off, 4 of us hung around and decided today was a “Hot Potato” day. As we moseyed down to the track, the mind starts to figure out what do you want to do when it’s your turn. After a little WARMARAMMA by all of us(SSHs, Don Quixotes, Cherry Pickers etc), we got down to business and boy we did.

Yee Haw was first up: 50 Perfect Merkins, 100 lunges, 150 squats(partner up we each did a lap around the track) we put in 3/4 of a mile just that alone

I was next: over to the stairs where the light was plenty another mini dora(50 WW2, 100 double count flutters, 150 mountain climbers), as we ran up to the top(5 Lt Dans)

NTB stepped up(went over to where some of the buses were): whatever the bus numbers added together(Carolina dry docks) with a run to the pole and back) example 623 equals 11 dry docks.

Swoop closed us out with 11s(burpees and I said go with Bobby Hurleys). That little chill in the air makes it a bit tougher, but we powered thru with everyone all good

The last few minutes was a little broga by yours truly, after that everyone returned(count-outs, announcements and prayer taking us out)

Enjoy the day, see you next time

  • Enthusiasm deficit

A somewhat hesitant, post-Halloween crew of 7 showed up this morning. The Q sensed a lack of enthusiasm, but the pax soldiered on. Here’s what went down:

Mosey to the triangle for COP: SSH, Ukrainian soldiers, Don Quixotes, merkins, and LBCs.

Off to the neighborhood where we looked for Halloween decorations. Houses decorated on the left = 5 merkins; on the right = 3 burpees. The pax was less than happy, but a mutiny was averted.

After making our way back to Ridge Road, we headed to the Church parking lot for People’s chair and balls to the wall. Then 3 sets of dips with planking in between. Then two rounds of 4 corners – 10 merkins, 20 squats, 30 monkey humpers, and 40 American Hammers.

We then headed back to the flag for a ring of fire with American Hammers and merkins.

Announcements – merkin challenge month (We did around 100? this morning).

Glad to finally get back on the Q sheet. Thanks for hanging in there this morning. Ronnie out.

  • Not your regular scheduled programming

Two stallions explored the streets of Westham by foot; surveying the aftermath of Halloween. It was in fact pretty calm and quiet with no signs of the previous night’s events.

Pucker came up with a nice running tour of Westham, UR, and the surrounding neighborhoods. Crisp morning for a run!

  • Revenge of the mutant zombie nerds

5 guys showed up for an All Saints Day beatdown that looked something like this

COP — helicopters, copperhead squats, balance on one foot, tempo Freddies, Tempo Flutterkicks, Tempo AST’s, some other stuff

    11’s
    10 Burpees, 1 KB Swing

    Bus loop fun
R1 –Walk the bus loop with the bell. Do 5 presses for each bus
R2 — Every bus add the numbers up and do that many of the exercise. This time it was single legged deadlift (mostly)
R3 — Multiply numbers and do the same thing with varied exercises at each bus. Although this was not a smart move bc three of the buses had zeroes in them…

    Back to the start.
    Mary time
    Ring of Fire merkins — 5 a piece, then 10 a piece.
    20 IC flutterkicks.

Fun times had by all — some were more awake and alert than others.

    Peace

    Opus
