  • Back in the Soup

One PAX took The Clinic by storm. Temps were 70 and sunny. According to the iguana watching as YHC ran by, the following may have happened:

Broward route interrupted by a Fudd stop. Pro tip: when traveling, bring an office key on the run.

    5 mikes. Humidity on overload.

Number, name, YHC took himself out.

  • A New Cowboy Rolled Into Town

10 Minutes before the Forge Q , a familiar face was walking the parking lot. A man we’ve seen many times round these parts and who has been invited by several PAX including Doozy, DTH and YHC. Well, this day that man walked straight up to DTH and said he was going to join us! His name is Butch but now he will be called Sundance. 7 of his newfound F3 Brothers welcomed him for the following rodeo.

Mosey from parking lot to school building flag poles

Definition of 3 F’s and 5 Core Principles

Warmarama (Fresh Prince finally joins us) : 20 SSH IC, 10 Ukrainian Soldiers IC, 10 Imperial Walkers IC, 10 Don Q’s IC, 10 Cherry Pickers IC, 10 Merkins IC

Mosey to the Snuff Gate to enter the astro turf football field

Santa’s Ladder from sideline to sideline: run to opposite sideline and back to starting sideline then do 10 burpees. Repeato with decreasing reps of Burpees by 1 until you complete 6 burpees. Then switch to Merkins for the 5 to 1 reps.

Black Jack : Start on the sideline of football field. Perform 1 Merkin – run to other sideline – perform 20 LBCs. Run back and do 2 Merkins. Run back for 19 LBCs. Repeat until you do 20 Merkins and 1 LBC, running between the sidelines. Always adds up to 21 – BLACK JACK! (YHC completed 16 Merkins and 5 LBC’s then called time so we’d have enough time to mosey BTTF)

On the mosey BTTF, sprint up 2 hills on the way. Circle back for the Six periodically and throw in some Bernie Sanders if you’re farther ahead. When we got to the parking lot, finish with a sprint to the Flag.

2 MOM : WWII’s IC until time expires

Proverbs of Solomon 3:13-18 NIV :

13Blessed are those who find wisdom,

    those who gain understanding,

14for she is more profitable than silver

and yields better returns than gold.

    15She is more precious than rubies;

nothing you desire can compare with her.

    16Long life is in her right hand;

in her left hand are riches and honor.

    17Her ways are pleasant ways,

and all her paths are peace.

    18She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her;

those who hold her fast will be blessed.

  • Not sure if this is better than Putt Putt

5 Southsiders and 1 almost Northsider joined YHC for an early morning round of Burpee Golf. According the guy that was serious about his track work this morning here is what went down.

Mosey to the track for COP

DQs, Helicopters, Imperial Walkers, LBCs, Merkins

Mosey to the goal line of the football field and get the frisbees out

YHC will call a target to shoot at, PAX throws their frisbee at the same time but has to do the number of Burpees of their shot. If its your first shot – 1 Burpee, Second shot – 2 Burpees so on and so forth. If a HIM catches your frisbee you get 5 penalty Burpees plus the shot you’re on Burpees. If the HIM attempts to catch your frisbee and touches it but misses then he has to do the 5 Burpees plus his shot Burpees.

In all we probably finished 10 – 12 rounds

Mosey BTTF – LBCs, American Hammers

Numbers / Names Duke took us out

    NMS:

Posey gets the nod for making the old people do more Burpees but he also had the most missed catches which gave him more Burpees too. These frisbees where $0.17 each at Wal Mart so they don’t fly very well and on a par 4 you can end up shooting well over and if someone catches your frisbee it close to doubles your Burpee count.

  • Oyster’s About to Produce a Pearl

An enormous moon vaporized behind the clouds at 0530 because it couldn’t bear to witness the following beatdown:

COP: SSHs, IWs, DQs, Merkins, FMs IC. Mosey to the bus loop.

Paula Abdul with no steps back: Lunge past two posts. At the first post, 2 American Hammers; at the third post, 4 Curls; fifth post, 6 American Hammers; all the way to the end. Mosey to the front bus loop.

Lindsay (The Toughest Lindsay? (f3rva.org)): Merkin Rows and Sit-and-Presses, with a lap around the bus loop in between each set. Mosey back to the back bus loop.

Paula Abdul with no steps back: Lunge past two posts. At the first post, 2 High Pulls; at the third post, 4 Overhead Pulls; fifth post, 6 High Pulls; all the way to the end. Mosey back to the VSF.

    COT.

NMS/Announcements: Congratulations to Coach Attila’s and 2.0 Spider’s 10U baseball team for winning the state Little League tournament! They are off to the regionals next week. Mariner’s team is also playing for the state (Juniors/Seniors?) tournament soon.

Prayers for LabRat and other PAX on the IR.

Welcome back to Circus to Fudd who did not like the humidity, but is clearly in stellar shape after living on that thin CO air for a couple of years. He had no questions for the Q and even questioned the creativity of the beatdown.

Just when YHC was considering an audible on the Lindsay, Fireman Ed said, “but that’s not how Offshore works” – hell yeah! So we finished the Lindsay. Tclaps to the PAX for completing the Lindsay and a whole lot more than the last time we did it. Tip of the hat to Gumbo for the inspiration.

    Nice work men!

  • Far DR post

YHC posted in Seattle at the end of a long hiking trip with his family. Showed up to AO The Pit and walked into a VQ from Disc Management. Always good to post when traveling and even across the country. Beatdown included coupons, extended Dora, and hill sprints.

  • A Left then A Right then a Left…

It had been a decent spell since we traversed the difficult terrain of Mt. Henrico (or “Henricus” as they called it in the ancient times). Nevertheless, with the humidity pulsating and the heat rising, 16 men decided to grab our inner-sherpas, forget the debate between WordPress and Slack for 45 minutes and trundle to the peak of this wonderful county of ours.

Here’s how you get to Mt. Henrico from the parking lot…

A left. A right. A left. A left. A right. A Right. A left. A right. A left. A left. A right (5s, jump down to then next line) A left. (4s turn around and double back to the flag).

A left. A right. A left. (6s double back to the flag)

    MOLESKIN

After Kubota’s warm up, YHC was total Zen today.  Not even the PAX’s constant eye rolls could kill the buzz.  There was a live Spiderman showdown meme when Ronnie realized there was another Jack amongst the PAX, welcome Flo.  With no prior knowledge of a two Jack post, YHC planned 3 Jacks of his own.  You can never jack enough at First Watch.  Where’s Bleeder when you need him?  With broken promises to win OSOTW by two returning vacationers, Last Call came through and saved the day.

  • Bright Path to Coupons

Gypsy reminded some and informed others of the origination of the WaThoHuk name. I did a little research to add to the story. It was Jim Thorpe’s name from being a member of the Sac and Fox Nation and is translated as “Bright Path”. Jim Thorpe is one of the greatest athletes ever, second to Pigskin. When looking for a new name of this AO, that is located at Pocahontas Middle School, a Native American name was desired and no better athlete for some inspiration than Jim Thorpe. He is also a good lesson for all of us as he struggled a lot after his athletic career with alcoholism, money, finding work and cancer. Being a good or great athlete is not the ultimate goal.

We leaned some of this from Gypsy while running into the Windsor Place West neighborhood. We then stopped at the little cul-de-sac for some warmaramma of SSH, Cherry/Strawberry Pickers, Merkins and Arm Circles. We then ran down to the Church Run pool parking lot where some coupons magically appeared. Coupons at WTH may be a first.

We did 5 coupon exercises of ten reps each and in between ran to the other end of the lot and did a ladder of burpees (starting at 5 and going down to 1). Exercises were Overhead press, Curls, Merkins with hands on Coupon, Flutter Kicks while holding up Coupon and Triceps. Had time for one more and Brick voted for Merkins again so we ran to the end of the lot, did 5 more burpees and then back for Merkins.

Back to Thamesford Way and went up and down the hill 3 times doing 20 LBCs at the top. Started back and did 5 squats at each recycling bin (4 or 5 bins total) then moseyed back to the flag. Ran 3.5 miles total. Coupons are behind the dumpsters in the back of the pool parking lot for the future.

Always an honor and pleasure to host my favorite AO.
