  • no weinke, no cry

8 guys came out this morning to take on the challenge of a new day.

COP — SSH, arm circles, squats with a hitch

Headed off campus to the giles neighborhood. Stop for various exercises along the way.

When we got to the traffic circle, we partnered up for a little CMIYC. One person lunged, the other person ran around the circle and caught them. trade off and keep doing this until we finished the circle.

Hey! We made it to the clubhouse and look! Pull up bars. Triple up, .. I mean… quadruple up for a triple quadruple check. four exercises done three times.
timer — 20 skull crushers on the rock or log of their choice.
    pull ups
    lbc’s
    monkey humpers
Obvi, the Q did not give great directions on this one bc someone’s group messed up the order of things. and people didn’t know which exercise they were supposed to be doing. Eventually it all got sorted out. kind of.

head to the parking lot for a mini dora
    50 merkins
    100 ww2
150 SSH (cut short a little so we could get back to the flag)
other person bernie sanders towards the road, regular run back

back to the flag included a few sprints, a few walks and a few exercises.

time for 2 minutes of stretching

Numbers names and announcements, YHC took us out

    NMS —
    1. Great showing this morning!! Was not expecting that many dudes, but was thrilled!
    2. Either some people need to give directions better or some people need to listen better. Not going to throw any of my teammates under the bus.
    3. Yardsale is a beast at running backwards! He might be faster running backwards than forwards!!

    Peace out,

    Opus

  • Back in the Saddle

8 dressed properly to run the Sunday Funday loops this morning. Temperatures were actually 70 and conditions were sunny. According to the biker who tried to run down one of our runners, the following might have happened:

North Bank to T. Pottersfield to South Bank / Buttermilk.

Numbers, names, YHC took us out.

    Announcements:

Sign up to run BRR. Sounds like we have 18 so far.

Prayers for Lab Rat who is dealing with Round 2. Let’s nail this once and for all. We are with you, my friend.

Prayers for YHC’s friend JB. Uphill battle with a serious health issue.

F3RVA continues to support groups of men working to improve upon unfortunate circumstances or prior choices. Let’s get guys out to The Bridge. HoneyDo did a solo yesterday, and we can do better. Pick a weekend – this weekend – and plan to help out. It’s a great experience and growth opportunity. The guys there appreciate it.

Second opportunity coming up. Shakedown and Offshore have spent several years helping with The Healing Place here in Richmond. A few of us have shown up for moral support as well. Now is our opportunity to demonstrate what “open to all men” means. Look for more information coming up from Shakedown on ways to become more involved with bringing these guys into the F3 world on a more regular basis.

    NMS:

Excellent morning to get sweaty running the loop. It’s been a minute since YHC did a Sunday Funday after being a regular for years. Great to see so many awesome dudes.

Special thanks to Helix who drew the short straw and had to run with YHC today.

Great chatter at ETs. Food remains the COVID standard level. Meh.

Sunday Funday Final Exam Question. Discuss the validity of this statement: A tank top is better running attire than going shirtless.

    UpChuck spits the bit.

CoPay took us out with some powerful words.

Final Thoughts: Strong work by all today! A couple of those challenges were no joke. Ultimate goal was to test ourselves and see if we can push through adversity. When Hardywood is around, you know that mumblechatter is going to be strong. Great to see CoPay becoming a regular – I too was surprised that he is 60! Well done sir. Also shout out to Snuff for pushing through post-Covid.

It was a great honor to lead!

  • Rockwood Chainsaw Massacre

The Morning Wood crew is always up for an adventure and exploring new areas. This morning, Florence led us down a newly discovered trail that runs along the park’s boundary. Unfortunately, it appeared to actually be the driveway to a cannibalistic hillbilly compound. Realizing our mistake, we high tailed it back to the safety of the park. Cruised past the lake on the nature trail, then back to the flag. A good time was had by all.
